The brunette older woman cooking is absolutely phenomenal. she has a great personality. she is the only reason i am giving two stars. the food can be outstanding or terrible depending on your order. plan to wait over an hour at times though. you can tell they get overwhelmed and more focused on takeout than actual customers. should probably stop takeout or get a larger space. it is tiny tiny here. the blonde that takes your order is a huge bitch every single time we are here. beware asking her for anything at all that really bugs her. the younger kids that deliver the food are alright. i have visited on multiple occasions. do not sit in the back. at all costs it always smells like a huge shit. people definitely live above or below as there are kids running in and out of doors going up and downstairs and running around in the diner. stopped going because it is not even worth the hastle. used to drive an hour for this place. read more

The pancakes I ordered were undercooked and the cheese on the home fries was pretty gross. The value isn't terrible and my partners pancakes came out good. All in all it wasn't a terrible place but I'd say there are better options in town. It's very unfortunate how much this place has gone down hill in just a few years. It used to be my first choice to go for a great breakfast and an inexpensive one at that. The time before this, I tried lunch and received a turkey sandwich with sour turkey. The owner was true to her word and had me come in for another one on the house and I appreciate the effort. I decided to give it another try and I regret it. $7.43 for a greasy breakfast sandwich and nasty cold homefries that taste like they've been sitting on the grill for a couple days. I just went to this diner for a simple grilled cheese to go. The manager/ cook was too busy closing out receipts and gave me the worst grilled cheese I've ever had in my life. We haven't been to this diner in a few years but always enjoyed the breakfast so we tried it again today. The server came immediately and the coffee we started with was delicious - hot and fresh tasting. That was the only good part of the meal. My husband had pancakes and sausage that he said were good, but undercooked and the breakfast sausages were not browned, but cooked through. I splurged and got the Eggs Maryland and asked for the eggs to be scrambled. This was two English muffins topped with crab cakes, eggs and hollandaise. The entire dish was inedible and I couldn't eat more than two bites. From the top down, the hollandaise was tasteless, the eggs were scrambled on the grill so there were large chunks of white and yolk separate from each other, the crab cake had the flavor and consistency of cheap, sticky, very fishy tasting and smelling wallpaper paste and the English muffins were not buttered. I literally gagged and I had thought until now that I could eat anything. The home fries, which were a real treat since I avoid carbs, were small (1/2 inch) cubes that were so hard, my fork would not pierce them and I had to scoop them up, but they were also too hard to chew and no amount of salt and pepper could disguise the cardboard flavor. I wish I could give a negative star, but the young server was friendly and efficient and she gets points for that. My biggest regret is that I simply asked the server to take the food back quietly and then actually paid for it. This is now on top of the list of places we will never return to. read more

We are attempting to hit the 10 Worcester Car Diners featured in the Boston.com article. Having visited the ones in our city of Worcester, we decided to venture out to some of the others that were listed, starting in Gardner at the Blue Moon for Saturday breakfast. Blue Moon was an excellent choice for breakfast. While they has some interesting specials on their board, we went with their regular dishes: I had the Big Bopper - 2 eggs, Home Fries, Homemade Roast Beef Hash and Toast & my husband had the Betty Boop - Eggs, Andouille Sausage and spicy home fries with Toast. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. My eggs were cooked perfectly over medium as I requested and tasted light and fresh. The home fries were perfect - lightly seasoned and not over cooked or greasy. The hash was amazing and full of flavor. The andouille was perfectly grilled and the spicey homefries were sprinkled with just enough red pepper to give them a little extra heat. The atmosphere was classic diner with wooden booths and counter up front. There was additional seating in an addition in the back. Our server was very pleasant and prompt with our order and refills of coffee. Overall we had a great experience and are both looking forward to a repeat visit to this excellent diner! :) read more

This one time great little diner had the best breakfast around. Now, not so much. The portion that I received (roast beef hash, eggs and homefries) wasn't very much for the price that's charged for this dish. But, the one thing that I noticed right off the bat was the grimy, greasy, and dirty front of the flat top grill. Like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Brought the kids here while traveling to the other side of the state for a late breakfast/lunch. This is the perfect diner in an original train car. The staff are several teen girls and they are all very polite. The seating is tight and the bathrooms are miniature. So if you have a toddler or baby you will probably have to leave the door open while they potty in order to fit. They toast their PB&J so if you have a fussy kid just an FYI. It was pretty quiet when we went in which worried me a little and the jukeboxes work on each table but the songs don't seem to be right according to either list we saw. If there is an error with the food when it is served, the servers immediately address it. It does get crowded at lunch hours and on weekends as it is a very popular destination. This place is hit or miss... On some days it's great tasting food cooked to perfection... Other days the food is 100% gross.. It's a neat place to eat, being a old dinner car type... My final straw with this place was when I brought my daughter there for a special birthday breakfast. The food this day was horrible and I didn't eat mine.. I had the fish and chips with cole slaw, and loved it. I would have assumed to expect a by-the-letter approach to basic simple americana food. What a pleasant surprise. I think I liked best the very same character trait that their one bad review was turned off by: creative originality. Two words not ordinarily associated with "diner food". I couldn't help but notice little things - small flourishes of "creative license" if you will. Where many diners go for rich/heavy flavors, these were light and herby. You'd find little unexpected notes just faint enough that you weren't quite sure..."was that marjoram"..."wait was that cinnamon". The end effect was a cole slaw that tasted sweet, without tasting sweetened, but not so under seasoned as to seem just plain and raw. Balance. A potato salad so light as to remind you of an artful use of cauliflower (no, I assure you the potato tasted like potato: I'm trying to accurately convey just how light it was). Definitely not the bland heavy mayonnaisy mouthful I expected. The fish was fresh, decent and simple. I didn't notice anything super unusual about the treatment of the fish (haddock, btw). That's not bad for contrast, though, like a simple E major chord after a progression of progressive chords. Cleans the palate! read more

Breakfast and lunch only, which is a bummer because the only thing I've ever had there that wasn't amazing was their cola machine for at least a year (not sure if still) it was always flat. It is small and tight fitting. It is usually busy but not so much it's full. Parking is tight, too. And the bathroom is airplane little. Portions though are plentiful and amazingly priced.
