    Baked oatmeal half gone

Amazing food. I recommend the baked oatmeal, and any of their specials. We tried 4 meals at my table and all had amazing flavors. They cook with love and care and it shows.

I'm with Lila. This place's last owner's really let it slide. Since then, it's been redone completely. The inside itself is more welcoming and they run old movies on sunday mornings. The food is slightly better then average diner grub, with the homefries being spectacular. I am a big fan, and this is my normal sunday go to spot. Sitting at the counter with the paper just feels right.

We came here while on vacation 3 years ago and decided to come in again and it was still great service and good food!! For those who have big groups, this might not be the place for you (it's a small place).

Cute enough place burger was good potato salad was even better. Home-fries were served burnt and the puddle of grease sitting on my plate was less then appealing. The breakfast burrito was ok... No effort was made to impress here.

Doesn't look like much as you drive up, and the "Live Bait" sign on the store next door isn't much of a draw either, unless of course, you're going fishing afterwords. The interior is small but much more inviting. Only about eight tables and a few seats at the counter. Breakfast here is your standard diner fare with quite a few specials. Our server was friendly but seemed to disappear at times. That's what happens when there's only one waitress and the place is full. The food was good, but not worth me driving out of my way for. I would consider stopping again if i was in the area.

Tiny place with atmosphere and great food. Seriously under appreciated. Waitstaff is lovely!

I thought it was a solid breakfast run by good folk. I don't know what else you could want, really.

Consistently good for breakfast with a nice, homey atmosphere. Decent portions. Their eggs benedict is very good.

I cant believe that I am actually writing a review for Ground Round. The last time that I was in…read moreone, Yelp didn't exist. So, when a good friend called and told me that there was a new one that opened in Shrewsbury, it was off to the races. I had to experience this. Service: We got seated nearly instantaneously when we got in the door and the place was already quite busy by the time that we got there. My friend got a salad of some sort with a sandwich and I got one of their signature burgers. The waitress appeared in a timely fashion, took the orders, had drinks on the table in no time, and was very attentive to any and all needs. Ambiance: It was on a Saturday during sports season, so there was a lot of noise and chaos going on, but that is always how I remembered the Ground Round. It is NOT a restaurant that you are going to read a good book in. The fact that this restaurant also had high cathedral ceilings which increased the acoustics, made it a little more unbearable for people who like quieter spots. But to me and my friend, it was not a dealbreaker. Food: After all, what were we doing there for anyways, but the food? It was very good. She enjoyed her dish, and my burger was actually one of those "skyscraper" burgers that are impossible to grip with two hands or get into your mouth for a bite. After dining at the Ground Round again, I am moderately confident that I could take a bite out of the Prudential Center if the need arose. Don't get me wrong, the burger was tasty, juicy, and done to perfection, but it was yuuuuge. Overall, if I could give the Ground Round a 1/2 a star I would make my rating of them a 4 and a 1/2 stars venue. I will definitely be back and look forward to meeting my friend there again for lunch. :) -S

Val did it again! As if she and her crew didn't pull off the most extraordinary wedding reception…read morefor us last September (that our wedding date had to come together in such short notice didn't faze her one bit ), this time we placed my 60th birthday celebration into her talented hands, and wow, did she deliver! Although I'm not surprised. (-; It is rare to find such a well-oiled machine in a restaurant that operates with such heart -- you can tell how connected the crew is and that they're having a good time too, which extends to a customer's experience -- with food that is made with such skill and craft, such care and thought and pride. It's so clear that this is Val's passion, and we are most grateful to have learned about her and her place. Val and team, thank you for the unforgettable birthday sendoff you created for me last night. My friends are sending texts of gratitude for such a lovely time; all of it was perfect. The pretty room with fairy lights and garden flowers and purple everywhere; the FOOD, all of it so delicious and clearly made with a great deal of love and skill, and how fun to have our own printed selection menu; those mocktails, brava to their creatrix; the cake setup; and because of the attentiveness, energy, fun and expertise of the serving crew, you all created a lovely experience where the 25 of us could be fully present, take our time, and just get to be ourselves together! I will keep sending folks your way, whether it's for a casual meal or a reception, memorial luncheon, etc. Thank you again.

Here is the breakdown: The Vibe: It feels like a giant, cozy hug from a grandmother who really wants to make sure you never see your abs ever again. The Portions: Val's operates on the "more is more" philosophy. I ordered a "side" of pasta and I'm pretty sure they just brought out the entire kitchen's inventory for the week. The Strategy: You don't go to Val's for a "light bite." You go there to commit to a three-day food coma. If you don't leave with at least two heavy paper bags of leftovers that could feed a small village, did you even go? The Verdict: 10/10. My belt is screaming, my heart is full of chicken parm, and I'll probably be back next Tuesday.
