What a surprise and thankful for Thai food so close to home in Maple Falls. The service is pretty good; seated quickly but wondering if we were going to get menus after maybe 5 minutes seated at the table. A few things for us to choose from on the menu. Ordered and food arrived at a reasonable pace considering we were the only ones here besides one customer at the bar. The food tasted great and we can't wait to come back to try another dish. It looks like a new family bought this old restaurant and added a bunch of amazing Thai and maybe Laotian dishes to the menu. It's some of the best Thai we've had since leaving the SF Bay Area! Their spicy scale is 1-5 and even 2 is VERY spicy. If you don't like spice definitely ask for 0 or 1. My husband got 3 and I wouldn't have been able to finish that dish. And we like spicy! The decor is a bit unsettling because it doesn't in any way look like the kind of place where you're going to get the best Thai food. If you can get over the visual disconnect it is delicious. We didn't sit outside but seems like they have a nice deck with a view. The presentation/plating of the dishes was very nice. I hope the word gets out that it is really good because I never in a million years would have expected to find this off a random road in Acme. read more

Family runned restaurant under new ownership. Its a great place to stop along the way. Also a great place to take the family. The two year old that runs the place does a great job lol and loves to meet and greet everyone! The food is delicious and you can tell that everyone really loves what they are doing and that shows in the wonderful customer service. If you want a quiet meal, there are indoor and outdoor seating that can accommodate that. But for me, I loved the attention and conversation with the family. The new owners have plans to host community events and I personally can't wait! The property is beautiful and if you have kids that got antsy in the car... no problem. Let them run in the gated back area while you relax and look at the beautiful view! Great experience all around! read more

It has been years, and apparently several owners, since we last visited the Blue Mountain Grill. A longtime friend lives in the area and finds driving a chore, so we met for lunch. They no longer have steaks, seafood and such. Now they serve hamburgers and Thai food. The Thai (which is all we had) was pretty good for an out in the boonies location. The Pad Thai was deemed a bit too sweet for us but otherwise was fine. The Phanaeng Curry was very good. The Garlic Chicken needed more garlic for our tastes. Their spice levels are 1 to 5. Previous Yelpers reported 2 was too spicy. Let me tell you, two wasn't spicy at all. I asked for some Nam Pla, which they had, but it had no Thai Chilies so it didn't add much heat. Not that any of this matter at all, as the current landlord has finally sold the building. The new owner is replacing the Thai food couple with a Mexican food restaurant at the end on July. read more

So glad we stopped! This place looks like a regular grill where you'd grab a burger, not find some of the best Thai food we've had. We started with tempura shrimp with a Thai dipping sauce, moved onto Pad Thai with chicken and Panag Curry with chicken and OMG, ridiculous! Seriously the best Thai we have had in a very long time. I usually order a 2 star at most places, but always start with a 1 at a new place and I'm glad I did. Spicy! I would order down a star. Cute atmosphere with game table, a bar and good music. Our waiter was great and we will for sure be back! Worth stopping. read more

So we ate here a few years ago and it was ok. It's a cute place. The server was friendly. That's where the good stops. The tables were sticky and gross. So bad we didn't play cards because we couldn't get them off the table due to the stickiness. They used to be pub type fair. It looks like a pub. Well now it's Thai food. It had 5 things on that menu and they were out of three of them. We went with the pork bites and the spring rolls because that was all they had. The spring rolls exploded in the fryer and the filling was Burnt to a crisp. The pork bites were 90% bone with a little bit of shoe leather. I swear they fried them for 15 minutes. They were nasty. I mean just disgusting. My husband was daring and tried them and said the sole of his shoe would have tasted better. Do not stop here I repeat never ever stop here. read more

It took over 2.5 HOURS to get food and leave and we were one of only two tables. - Waited 45 minutes before they started taking our order. - Orders were cooked and brought out ONE PLATE AT A TIME. I had my food an entire hour before my friend and we ordered the exact same thing. WHAT?! Cook it at the same time! - 20 minutes just to cash out because only one person is trained on the register. The menu here makes no sense. Burgers, fish n chips, pad thai, pho?! Nothing like a cup of coffee and hot pho on a summer day! :( If you're a Bar & Grill doing Asian inspired dishes, do them well. But everything here was atrocious. Spring rolls filled with one ingredient: globby shredded carrot. Burgers like overcooked hockey pucks. Why?! Who hurt you?! I would not wish this place on my worst enemy. It's the perfect candidate for Kitchen Nightmares. The restaurant down the street understands the Acme, WA clientele. They serve pie and pancakes and have a line out the door all day. This place needs to take note and get their shit together. Until that day happens, avoid Blue Mountain Grill at all costs. My husband and I are delighted by this new addition to what makes little Marshall, VA a true foodie destination. They specialize in seafood and really do justice to it. Try it in daytime when seating is more readily available. Service is fast, pleasant, and professional. Chef has a following with good reason. One star off to leave room for some more improvements in ambiance -- it still looks like a downscale roadhouse from the outside. Don't let that put you off! Cute lunch or dinner spot off the beaten path. At the time of this post, their Yelp photos are outdated as they now have a full Thai menu as well. Skip the burgers and enjoy their authentic and flavorful Thai food. I also highly recommend their cocktails. I had a dragon fruit cocktail that was out of this world, refreshing and not too sweet! We stopped here after hiking and had a couple of bacon cheeseburgers. They were sooo good! They honestly tasted like our dads made them. Fresh and nicely cooked with perfectly crisped bacon. The owners were very friendly. We didn't realize they had more of a Thai menu, but I hope they keep the pub food too. We'll be back! read more

No recent reviews of this place so here goes. We stopped here for some food on our motorcycle ride. Wasn't crowded for the time of day (1230). I had fish and chips and my bride had a burger. The fish portions were on the small side but they were dense. Could cut them without the meat flaking apart. Tartar sauce looked like it came out of a bottle since it was just a dollop on the waxed paper in the basket. By the way when did we stop using plates? Seems like most places dump the fish and chips in a wax paper lined basket these days. I'm not down with that but The Dude abides. All in all it was an average visit. For a place that has a great view of the high country you think they would exploit it but there is nothing you could call outdoor seating and there are no picture windows framing the vista like view. $42 for two lunches with no alcohol. Beer and wine only, no sprits. read more

The food exceeded my expectations! The unpretentious decor and ambiance of a family restaurant had me feeling relaxed. Then I was startled to taste the best Fried Calamari I have ever had, on top of lemon butter and a thick tomatoey sauce sprinkled with corn kernels; and I have had plenty in my long life. The fried fish in the fish and chips was also the best I have ever had, served quickly and steaming hot. I was drawn to try a salad I haven't ever seen offered: a shaved Brussels sprouts salad with slivered almonds. It was crunchy, tangy and dense, good for sharing. We returned later in the week and enjoyed the brownie sundae which was delectable with robust chocolate flavor and fresh whipped cream over tasty vanilla ice cream. I can't wait to work my way through the menu! The service was friendly and efficient both at a busy dinner and a less crowded lunchtime. My wife and I always start our riding season off (Harley's) by stopping at The Blue Mountain Grill. I had the Fish and Chips plate. The fish was very fresh and not greasy. The coleslaw was the best! My wife had the French Dip plate. There was a lot roast beef for several meals. She said the roast beef was delicious! Very friendly staff. The young lady waiting our table was very professional. Always coming back to check on us and keep our drinks filled. We have been coming here for years. This is my first review for this venue. All of my visits would have been 5 stars. We'll be back! Another great meal! I had a bowl of clam chowder and homemade bread. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich. We always come here about this time of year to start Summer. We went in on a Saturday evening, it was kind of slow, not sure why. Service was fast and very friendly, food was good, not great, but pretty good. Decent selection of beers, not as much wine, but enough for the casual menu. The Blue Mountain bread appetizer was really good, bad for my diet, but really good. My wife had the prime rib, she thought it was pretty tasty. I had the Cod Slaw sandwich (fish sandwich with cole slaw on it). The fish was nicely prepared, light crispy breading, firm flaky fish inside. Prices were fair, we'll try them again soon, sorry we waited so long to try them out. read more

Recommended by someone at a deli up the road, I had some pretty high hopes. I had the specialty hot open faced roast beef sandwich. It was like you might expect from a down home truck stop cafeteria, i.e. large and lathered with gravy and a side of mashed potatoes. For me the roast beef was a bit tough and not quite appealing. Maybe I was expecting more of a pot roast juicier consistency... I think folks that ordered burgers were happier, but I couldn't resist ordering off the specialties side of the menu. read more

Very warm and friendly service. Came here with a large group. Our car club always enjoys stopping here for a bite to eat on our way through town. Didn't get pictures of any of the main courses this time around, but did snap a shot of the Berry Cobbler Dessert! Once you dove into the crust, the warmth of the berries invited the ice cream to slide right in and make for a magical experience. Flavors were popping in your mouth! Absolutely delish. Good burger for the price, and I am a snob. I heard the buns are house made baked from scratch right there every morning, which made a difference. Fries were done perfect. Service was quick. It looked like a place to have a lot of fun when we're not in the climax of a viral epidemic. Welcoming staff, good beer on tap, old 1930s wood floors, a game room and all perfectly clean. Stopped in this last weekend. They stopped serving breakfast (sad, I Loved the French toast). Still a great place. When we arrived the waitress let us know that heat went out, due to the snow storm that just hit NW Washington. The generator cover everything in the place, but the heater. W said it was fine, but she still brought us over these lightbulb shaped hot water holders so we could use them to warm our hands. When she brought us our water she let use know that again due to the power outage certain items where 86's about 20% of them. After looking at the 80% left on the menu we ordered. The food we ordered was good. I had chicken strips with fries ( was what one would expect). When we were checking out she gave us a free peach cobbler with ice cream to take home for the issue caused by the weather. It was very nice of them to offer something to make up for the issues outside of their control. We where very understanding and didn't think much of it. But, this simple gesture will make us retire time and time again. Did rate them 5stars last year but lost a star because of the lose of a breakfast menu (loved that French toast) read more

ZOMG! We ate here in a large group the night before a wedding in the mountains near Acme, Washington. This place gets the magic five stars for every reason I can think of: 1) Waitstaff was superb. We made them put with 30 of us, all of us full of energy and boisterous (yet not rude), and they handled us with ease and grace. They navigated our orders and kept our refills going. 2) The food. Dear lord.....I had a chicken friend steak and mashed potatoes. It was delightfully crunchy, very tasty, and not greasy. Also, it was not overly large -- another win. Also, I have no idea what brand of tea or lemondade they use in their Arnold Palmers, but they nailed it. 3) The desserts get their own category -- they have they handmade four berry pies in bowls, fresh baked then smothered with vanilla ice cream. Also, they have a brownie cake heated and smothered with ice cream. Fortunately our table got both, then we ate bites of both. I'd imagine this is what gods eat for dessert ;-) 4) The check - they did it by table, and when we went to pay they even split it further to help us out. Usually you get one giant bill, and then split, however this was easier on us. We gave them a huge tip for doing that. Is it cheap? No, but also not expensive. This is very, very high on the bang for the buck....so get on down there! Git! read more

We spotted this place and the sign for "Best Burgers" on the way up to Mt Baker to go camping. The whole crew decided it would make a great lunch stop on the way back home. We were all a bit disappointed. Perhaps the other reviewers didn't eat as well as we did at camp. I asked about the chicken pot pie and was assured is was real good. It came with a salad and I ordered lemonade to go with it. She ordered the fish and chips that came with cole slaw, along with iced tea. Everyone got their ice teas right away. All I got was an apology that they had to go down to the basement and get some more lemonade. I think what the waitress meant was lemonade syrup, because I could see her getting it from a soda fountain a few minutes later. It tasted OK, but who runs out of lemonade first thing in the afternoon on an 80 degree day? The salad was out of a bag and starting to go brown around the edges. The baguette slice on the top was good. The pot pie looked marvelous--a beautiful dome of flaky crust. Under the (turned out to be flavorless) crust, however, was almost half air. The rest was unseasoned (but tender) chicken and small cubes of potato in an unseasoned and thin milk gravy. Other vegetables were virtually MIA (I think there was an odd pea or carrot). Marie Callendar frozen pot pies are more exciting. Her fish and chips were also unremarkable. There were three large pieces of fish with heavy coating of bread that tasted more like beer than bread. The fish was hot and moist. The french fries were tender and tasted more fishy than the fish. The cole slaw was some chopped cabbage with a little mayonnaise that may have been shown a photo of a carrot. Not the sweet slaw that the menu promised. Other folks in our party of five were similarly underwhelmed with their choices. One person had the burger and was not impressed. The fish and slaw sandwich was deemed just as messy as the menu described. The other salad was as disappointing as mine. Service was attentive right up until the late lunch crowd arrived after we did (about 1:00 on Sunday afternoon). Then several small parties and a large party of twelve (six of them small children) raised the noise level in the room (all hard surfaces) to a crescendo and we never saw our waitress again. We had to track her down in the bar to pay our bill. Next time we go camping at Mt Baker we'll look for a different lunch stop. Sorry. read more

Horrible processed and canned food. The burger my son ordered was a joke. The. Patty was paper thin, burnt to hell stuck between a buns that was hard and 30% larger the the patty. My fish and chips was 3 small medallion pieces of cod (batter wasn't bad) with about 12 pieces of fries. The pot pie is this sad excuse of canned chicken soup..... The while time I was expecting to see Gordon Ramsey from Kitchen Nightmares it was that bad. Nothing tasted even remotely fresh, even my wife's salad was came out of a bag and that was probably the best part of her meal. I think the good people if Acme need a Wendy's or a Sonic. New to Washington I did some exploring. Passed this place on the way up to Mt Baker. Saw the sign saying something about the best burgers or something of the sorts, so I decided to stop there on my way back home. I had my dogs so I asked if they were dog friendly, if I ate outside on the patio. A woman (ended up being the owner) said yes, I could have my dogs out back but I'd have to lift my dogs over the fence since she didn't have a key to the gate. The fence is 5ft high and my dogs 60-80lbs so that wasn't happening. It looked like a nice patio too. I ended up placing an order to go, so I could eat in my suv with my dogs. Ordered a bacon burger w/ fries. As I'm waiting I hear a patron talking with the lady who told me she didn't have a key to the gate. The patron said, "aren't you the owner? Why don't you have the key?" The owner said something to the regards to, "why would I want the key, I don't want to be opening and closing that thing, it's so and so's job" Patron said, "this way you could open it for dog owners" Owner said something like, "it's not my priority to please dog owners so I don't really care" Patron said, "well it would help increase business if travelers could bring there dogs here to eat. Things like that are a big deal for dog owners" He's right. I almost wanted to cancel my order for that. The lady that took my order was very friendly. I got my food and ate in the car. I'm not a fry person but I have to say, these are the best fries I've ever had. Super crispy and almost seemed as if they were dipped in a batter of some sort. The burger was okay. The bun was excellent. It was crispy when you bit into it, yet light and flaky. The produce was nice and the bacon was really good. I like a place that does just a mayo when the patty is seasoned nicely. However this was swimming in mayo. The patty have decent flavor but was a bit over cooked for my taste. read more

Blue Mountain Grill is a bit of a destination spot, but the food is worth the drive and, if you're lucky and The Sisters are out, the view is worth driving twice as far. I first came here a few years ago after building a house just down the road apiece, and I try to make the 40 minute trip from Bellingham at least once a year, and more if i can help it. The food is fresh and you can have a breakfast as good as anywhere in town or a burger or sandwich as good as the better spots for those as well. The Blue (Cheese) Mountain Burger is a favorite, and everything comes out hot and fast, without seeming rushed. I know a few places around the county that treat you like a second-class citizen if you're a "townie", but this is not one of those places. Friendly people greet and help you, and seem to truly mean it when they ask you to come back. read more

Great view and very pleasant set up for kids. They had chalk to draw on the patio and games etc. but the burgers are slightly worse than those at my kids school bbqs. These must be frozen patties then way over cooked and salad lettuce that looks at least a week beyond its shelf life. I was hoping this place would be great given how friendly they were and the great location but we will not go back. read more
