    Pad Thai

Nestled on Commercial Avenue, this cozy Thai gem shines like summer fireflies in a mason jar--warm, soulful, and just the right kind of bright. We are visiting from Alabama and loved the flavor-packed dishes and easy-going vibe. The pad Thai was the best we've ever had--tender rice noodles tossed in a sweet-savory-just-hot-enough sauce, crowned with crushed peanuts and green onions. The balance? A perfect waltz on your taste buds. I had the beef salad, and it was a harmony of grilled beef, zesty lime dressing, red onion, and cilantro. I also had some coconut soup that was delicious. We had larb for an appetizer--and it was a charming marriage of minced chicken, fragrant herbs, lime, and a whisper of chili. The service was friendly, upbeat, and always ready with a recommendation.

Dessert Fried Banana with Ice Cream (it has coconut, banana, & black sesame seeds inside) so goood

The service was very good the waiter was so attentive and nice. The food was served quick and the seating was comforting and peaceful.

    Pumpkin Curry (veggie)

Note they are currently closed on Sundays. This may be a seasonal thing, or it may be permanent. I've had several meals here recently, and enjoyed them all. I had a Pumpkin Curry (vegetable only, brown rice sub'd for white). I ordered it spicy (just below Thai Spicy), and it was indeed spicy (perfect for me). It had a lot of pumpkin pieces, along with some other veggies, and the sauce was enjoyably flavorful. My husband had the Pad Kee Mao, with veggies and steamed tofu (instead of fried). The noodles were suitably wide, chewy, and delicious. Veggies were pretty decent, though the broccoli was a bit overcooked. There were also pieces of carrot, bell pepper, onion, and a tomato or two. He had his usual complaint of wishing for more veggies, but overall he was quite pleased. He had a spice level of Medium, which was hot enough to give it a kick, but not too hot for him to eat. For dinner, I had Som Tum (what many places call Papaya salad). I ordered it hot. It came with the same or very similar ingredients to Papaya salad, and was very well made. Having it hot gave it a different taste from the normally mild spice level of Papaya salad. I quite enjoyed it (so much so, that I had it again the next night). My husband had Pra Ram, with brown rice and steamed Tofu. He said he liked it a lot, as it wasn't sickly sweet as some make Thai peanut sauce. It also wasn't too thick, nor too thin. The veggies seemed similar to what he had with his lunchtime Pad Kee Mao, but this time the broccoli was cooked perfectly to his liking. Prices are extremely reasonable, and service is friendly. My favorite Thai food in Anacortes.

Prices were pretty good for this inflation laden world... But the food didn't quite meet the "best Thai in town" bar. Spicy had almost no hint of spice (it could be that they are catering mostly to a clientele that prefers that), but they happily brought out more chilis. The "hot pot" that soups came in looked cool, but because they didn't use the burner, it cooled the soup too quickly, I would suggest sticking to the bowl size for eating in. Dining room was a bit chilly too even though they brought out a space heater. Curries were watery very little veggies. Probably they do the stir fried and noodle dishes better? Not my first choice restaurant in town, if this is the best Thai in town I recommend folks to pay a visit to Seattle sometime.

    Thai iced tea

Ambiance is nice, covered outdoor seating is very nice on a sunny day. Staff is very friendly and water is very cold. Thai ice tea priced at 3 dollars was outstanding. Panang curry with beef at 12 dollars was the best I've ever had for the price. Would recommend to anyone looking for great Thai cuisine in Anacortes, Washington.

New take on Thai beer. Tom Yum and Tom Kha.

We received friendly service throughout our visit and the food was delicious as well, especially the onion rings. We especially enjoyed the fish and chips along with a few other dishes we ordered. There are no signs that said "please wait to be seated" or "seat yourself" either, but after waiting a bit we thought we'd seat ourselves and the service would come to us. That never happened, so this feels like we were being ignored. It's unfortunate though, because it seemed like a chill place to grab some food. But this isn't how you run a business because after waiting around for 15 mins we left. Probably won't be stopping by again.
