As we pulled into a parking space right in front of Blue Pacific a young woman was leaving screaming and throwing a fit. That should have been a sign to not eat here, but we laughed and went inside. Immediately I noticed many warning signs while standing at the hostess stand. There were about 6 tables of guests, every other table was dirty with dishes and not cleaned. I waited about 3-5 minutes at the hostess stand while she checked people out at the hostess stand (strange). Sure enough she said we had to wait for a table to be cleaned. She took us over to the table she just cleaned and we had to ask her to wipe it down with a dry rag, the table and booth were soaking wet. She asks what we'd like to drink, I stumble through the disgusting drink menu. It had food, was wet, and all the pages were warped from water because it wasn't laminated. We order our drinks and wait for our food bowls. The young lady brings us our food bowls (two completely different sizes, but she insisted they were the same, we laughed. We head up to the food bar to fill our bowls. The bean sprouts were BROWN and completely bad, other veggies looked directly from a can. There was good all over the ground, the sauce area was a COMPLETE disaster. Please see my pictures! The clean spoons had dirty spoons thrown in them. Sauce cups everywhere. It was clear no one cleaned all day. It took us about 15-20 minutes to get the food and wait for it to be cooked. We weren't upset about that, only the HUGE mess. We sit down and still no drinks. No water, nothing. There appeared to only be two women that were acting as hostess, waitress, and bussers. Honestly, they should have no problem with that. There were maybe 6 tables and all they have to do is take care of drinks. I witnessed three of the six tables get up and hunt them down to get their checks or drinks. The girls were often texting at the hostess stand or texting in the rear service area near the restrooms. We patiently waited 5-10 min after sitting down with our hot food to flag her down and inquire about our drink order. You'd think seeing two people sitting at a table with no beverages and not eating would be a clue, but I guess not. She admitted she had forgot, and couldn't even remember what we ordered. The food was ok, I was honestly just worried about getting sick from it after seeing the conditions of the restaurant. This was my first and last time here. Painted in soothing blues and beige, Blue Pacific is located in the busy Levis Commons in Perrsyburg and offers tasty Mongolian BBQ, a full bar, and some fantastic desserts. I think by now most people have some experience with this type of restaurant, but if not... After being seated, you are given a small metal bowl. You then go to a buffet of sorts and fill the bowl with your vegetables, meats, and seasonings of choice. Finally, select and fill a plastic cup with your choice of sauce and hand the whole thing over to a chef. He (it's always a he...) will toss it on a round grill with a hole in the center and occasionally flip the food with two wooden sticks while you watch. You also get a choice of "starches" (different types of noodes and rice) which will make a bed for the finished stirfry. Don't forget to go to the far end of the bar for crushed peanuts, sesame seeds and/or almond slivers (and chopsticks if you want them). Now, if you're like my Dad (who doesn't know the first thing about cooking and hates the site of raw meat), the choices here can be a bit intimidating. The secret? There's no such thing as a bad combination. Seriously, you can put pretty much anything together and get a good meal. However, I do recommend sticking with thicker chunks of meat. Thin slices of beef tend to get overcooked since the chefs leave everything on the grill for the same amount of time. Also, unless you really love the sauce, only fill up the cup halfway. Otherwise, that will be all you taste. Personal favorite items: crab chunks, mango, pineapple, and mako shark (which was the ingredient of the day on my last visit). I understand the sausage is really good too. Desserts are amazing. ....and friggin' huge! Mom and I ordered a slice of carrot cake on our last visit... which was bigger than the plate it was served on. You could easily split it with 5 or 6 people! As to the establishment itself... well, there are a few things that bug me. Other reviews mention how crowded the food buffet is and they are not wrong. The main section with the veggies and meats is okay. It's a bit tight, and the sneeze guard is perfectly placed to get right in my face, but not too bad. However, when it is time for the sauces, there is only space for a single person at a time. Since you are encouraged to try multiple sauces before selecting one, you can imagine how frustrating this gets if you are behind someone who has never been to Blue Pacific before. It doesn't help that a lot of people seem to not understand that they can move down the bar while their food cooks, meaning that on a crowded night, there can be a bit of a bottleneck around the sauce. The staff doesn't do a great job of maintenance on the sauce station either - the last few times I've been here, it has always been a gooey mess. I don't know if this is just because the customers are slobs or if the pumps are a bit leaky, but a little attention from the workers would be nice. The labels on the sauces are showing their age, too, with one peeled off altogether and others impossible to read. Rather frustrating. Service itself is okay. I don't remember ever having a truly enthusiastic server or cook, but I've never had any problems either. The last visit saw a single man working the floor and two cooks, though pretty much every table was full. The only issue we had, though, was waiting to be seated... not because there wasn't a table but because the server was too busy elsewhere. Prices... seem a bit high to me. A dinner bowl is $12.99, lunch $7.99. There are a lot of cool ingredients to choose from and if you stack things just right, you will get plenty to eat. A meal consisting primarily of seafood might be worth it considering what you will be charged for a similar dish elsewhere. However, keep in mind that all you get is the stir fry - there are no salads, biscuits, or soup. You won't leave hungry, but I usually end up feeling hungry a few hours later. If you have a big appetite, do keep in mind that there is an "unlimited" bowl available though it costs $18.99. For folks on a budget or who don't eat much, the lunch bowl is not a bad deal if you pile it full, but it's only served certain times of day. Also, you are not supposed to stack food over the bowl. I did see people doing just that though and noone complained. Overall, Blue Pacific can be a lot of fun and very tasty. The food is usually pretty good and it's entertaining to build your own creations without having to buy and chop up all the ingredients yourself. It's also great for a group of picky eaters too since there is something for everyone. Vegetarians can do well here too, if they do not mind that the food is cooked on the same grill as meat dishes. read more

I had an excellent server. I think her name was Nicole but, my issue is this. I was looking down at my food, kind of moving it around just to look at it and there was a black hair on my shrimp. OMG, talking about gross overload. I called my server over, and she was as shock as I was. She was so sorry, so apologetic and asked me if I wanted to have them make it over. Of course, not. My complete appetite was gone. I did noticed that neither of the two guys cooking the food had hair nets or even gloves on, that concerned when I walked in. We are just out of a pandemic. You would think these restaurants, would take this a bit more serious. I will never, ever go back to this establishment. Also, the one cook with his dirty hat on backwards. Kept, scratching his arm, his face, etc. I thought then, that this would not be a good experience but, I was willing to try. I decided to try this restaurant because it got relatively good reviews. When we walked in I really didn't know what the hell was going on. Ingredients were lined on the sides like Mongolian bbq but there was a sit down service. Hm... When we took a seat the server presented us with 2 bowls: lunch and regular. These things were tiny. Did the regular dish really cost $12? We contemplated leaving because we doubted the serving size. Luckily, we decided to stick around and give it a shot. We picked out our meats and veggies, along with our choice sauce. The cooks asked us what side we want (brown rice, rice, or noodles). The buffet where you get the food is in a corner so it kind of gets a little crowded when you're waiting to get your food grilled. I've eaten here two or three times...not nearly as good as the Mongolian BBQ in Ann Arbor. One time I went with a friend and the grill guy let our food stay on the iron for 20 minutes while he talked to a friend and the shrimp were dissolved into nothingness. Food is typical hibachi grill food which I happen to love. The grill masters do a wonderful job cooking the food, as for their professional presentation it was definitely lacking one chef had his pants sagging down to his knees and then the manager was not seeming to care. I can't say I'm at all that impressed with the place but I've been here before and been blown away by service and food so I shall give it the benefit of doubt. Sadly, I really like the food here and the Mongolian style of cooking, but every time I've come here the servers always seem to be hanging out at the bar talking, including the hostess, when they should be helping their tables and the hostess standing at the front desk. And people are always waiting in line as well for over 30 minutes to get their food cooked and I am not really content to see everyone stand along the food line putting their hands in and around it constantly. Tonight there were only two cooks for a full restaurant. If you want a much better Mongolian concept go to BD's Mongolian Grill at the mall. I've never had a bad experience there and they always greet me with big smiles upon walking in, they have a free soup and salad bar with your meal and there are at least four to five cooks on the grill on a Friday or Saturday night. Update 3/19 after reading Jessica's comments... I appreciate the time you took to respond. When I was there on 3/17, which is a Saturday night, at 5:30pm, the hostess was sitting at the bar with her back to the door, socializing with the servers who were also hanging out behind the bar. There were only 2 cooks and I watched as the line moved by about one foot or so forward towards the grill about every 10 minutes or so. Several came in and left the restaurant without even waiting because of this. When the restaurant is crowded like that, it's best to keep the servers on the floor checking on their tables and they weren't. It's also best to keep the hostess at the front desk socializing with those waiting instead of with staff and ignoring those waiting. I learned these things the hard way through my own business. I hope you will take these comments to your staff and work with them to improve their service. Your restaurant used to have almost a five star yelp rating and it's now down to three stars. In a sea of numerous choices, people who experience disappointments like we did don't usually come back and find other alternatives instead. read more

This place is basically like BD's Mongolian BBQ. It has a menu but the focus is the grill: There is meat and seafood and you put it in a bowl and then add spices if you wish and then select a sauce and then provide to the cook who then grills it. You can have it with rice, lettuce wraps, tortillas etc. The environment had an ocean motif/feel but is a bit cramped. The food quality is decent but not great. We had a poor experience this time (we have been there several times before and its normally a three star in my opinion but this experience drops their average). They have all you can eat but apparently not for lunch. When I asked for a second bowl (since I decided to have all you can eat) it was after 4 pm or dinner time. We came for lunch and should have paid for the lunch portion. I asked how much all you can eat would be extra when we were first seated and she said $5 extra. But when I asked for a second bowl later she said she spoke to the manager and was sorry but she would need to charge the dinner price. I said no thanks on principle, this is not called out anywhere and the waitress did not mention this when I sat down, she said just $5 more. I left disappointed since I was looking forward to a second bowl for a while since the waitress didn't come. They would have made $6 more if I paid for the dinner price, instead they not only did not get the $6 but earned a bad yelp and probably lost additional visits from us. I've passed this place many times, but never decided to try until today. It's similar in concept to BD's Mongolian Barbecue, with the primary offering being create-your-own stir fry from an assembly line of vegetables, meats, seasonings and sauces. They also offer a few appetizers, chef-designed stir fries, and tacos. Overall, I was unimpressed with both the food and the service. I went with my girlfriend and we each ordered a dinner-size portion of stir fry and shared a lettuce wraps appetizer. We both choose sirloin tips for our stir fry meat, and this was the highlight of our meal. The meat was nicely cooked and tender. However, the vegetables and sauce left something to be desired. In particular, my girlfriend noted that her baby corn and bamboo shoots were not very fresh and in fact came out quite soggy. It's a bit harder to review the sauces, simply because there is a near limitless number of combinations, so one could always argue some perfect concoction must exist. That being said, I tried the 3S sauce and found it to be a bit too acidic, while my girlfriend found the honey garlic soy to be cloyingly sweet. Maybe with enough trials we would be able to even out these shortcomings, but I would prefer an experience where I could simply choose to use a house sauce straight and expect the result to be delicious. Our service was a little bewildering. We arrived thirsty so we requested waters, twice, and waited a while for them to arrive before going up to make our food. Finally we gave up and went to create stir fries, only to return 15 minutes later to find still no drinks on the table. After bringing drinks at last, our server disappeared, leaving my girlfriend unable to politely request more sriracha sauce (to avoid bringing a soiled plate up to the assembly line) until we were nearly finished with our meal -- at which point the server admonished her for not "hollering me over." Finally, she rushed out our bill as soon as our stir fry plates were clean. I had to call her back so that I could add the lettuce wraps. I had never eaten here because most of my friends have said it is pricey. I have eaten at other grills like this and enjoyed them. We received a gift card so we stopped in for lunch. First off I found the appearance of the grillers/cooks upsetting. They had no aprons on and were wearing jogging pants, and they were soiled. They had no uniform shirts. One guy was wearing a jersey. They didn't appear well groomed nor did our waitress. She was very nice but looked like I do when I roll out of bed. OK so the food. It's your basic grill items but here you have to pay for things like egg and tortillas where other places it's an option for free. You have to get your strategy and pack your bowl up. I am an expert at this so the bowl sizes aren't a problem for me. I got my food grilled and it tasted like mildew. My husband tasted great so I narrowed it down to one of the veggies I used that he didn't... But I don't know which one. So that was pretty disappointing. I wouldn't go back because of this and the fact that although it appears generally clean I just got a really icky feeling about the whole place from the appearance of the workers etc. Also it is very, very loud in there when busy. Timing is everything when you visit Blue Pacific. Avoid visiting here on a Friday or Saturday past 6pm. I will never eat here again. How do you run out of tofu?! Compared to meat it's about 1/4 the price yet if I had to guess I would say that never in a million years would you allow your restaurant to run out of meat. Can you imagine telling your customers (after they've already started filling their bowl) that you're out of meat?! This restaurant has terrible customer service. I arrived with my out-of-town guest at 6:30 pm to catch a quick dinner on the way to the airport. We waited about 5 mins to be seated although it was not very busy, which was fine, but then our waitress did not return until 6:45 to take our order. We ordered straight off the menu with no alterations or additions to the entrees. At 7:00, we still had not been checked on by our waitress nor had we been given our food. I found one waitress, who was not our original waitress, and asked her to send our waitress to our table. When she came, we were told that the other waitress put our order in wrong and that they had just started making our new one. Due to time constraints, we had to cancel the order and were told that we should have told her we were on a time crunch. We will not be returning. read more

I live in Columbus and this was my second time coming to this location. The first time I came the service was excellent. That was in October of 2016. However, this was my second time and I wanted to take my family, due to the wonderful experience I had the first time. However, I came yesterday and it was the shittiest service I've had in a long time. The waitress never came over to refill drinks, we waiting over 10 minutes just to get boxes and nearly 10 minutes to get my credit card back. She never followed up or anything. This place is the answer for the next unique place to dine. The Blue Pacific is basically a Mongolian BBQ which I like to describe as a create your own entree restaurant. There have to be literally 1000's of combination's that you can create at this place. I have worked around restaurants here in the Toledo area, and the quality of food that they put on the buffet for the price is incredible. Shrimp, scallops, craw fish, steak, sliced beef and about 20 different fruits and veggies is just over whelming. They have several different sauces and all the usual seasonings too. We stopped coming here more than a year ago because of declining meat quality. Tried it again today and it's worse. They used to have thinly shaved beef that was somewhat edible -- now it's only thick hunks that were so tough and rubbery that I gave up trying to eat them. Asked griller for an egg which wasn't added. Server was nice and attentive. Concept is great -- we would be here every week if they had decent quality beef. I loved the idea of making your own dish and having them cook it while you watch. The cooks were very nice and the food was good. The waitress on the other hand didn't seem to care about our table. She took our drink order but I had to go to the bar and ask for them bc she was nowhere to be found. While we were standing by the grill waiting for our food, we saw a waitress giving a male employee a back rub...she was clearly flirting. After she saw that she got caught, she grabbed drinks and delivered them to a table. Our waitress brought food to our table and walked away without asking if we needed anything else. This place has been a favorite of mine to go to. Although for this I want to highlight one specific person for their amazing service as a waitress. As I can recall her name is Clair (I'm probably not spelling that name right) but she was the only waitress that actually came up to me after all the other waitresses walked by. If she is available when you go to eat here then see if she can be your waitress because personally she is the best one that I have seen there. And make sure to give her a nice tip. The food here is amazing! However, we have been here quite a few times over the years, and we have only received acceptable service once. There was also a time when we had a reservation, arrived 10 minutes early, and we were sat 30 minutes after our reservation time. You know this restaurant. It's a little bit of a fad, but I like it because I get to choose what I want in my asian dish for the night.
