Italian Chopped Salad & Basil Ranch
    Amelia D.

Came here for happy hour and got some great deals on tapas and wine. We tried the Albariño (yum) and a Grüner Veltliner (peppery with notes of jasmine - great on its own but too harsh for food pairings). We also had some appetizers my favorite being the pork belly which came with a fruity sauce and the surprisingly filling Italian chopped salad. Not a huge fan of the bruschetta. The prawn cocktail was good but not very filling. Overall I would come back and I have heard that they rotate apps regularly. Our server was nice and the inside area was small but cozy. It filled up quickly for dinner time with reservations.

Lovely ambiance in the back garden with a fountain and nature trees. We love the happy hour here and the servers are all so nice. Shout out to the deviled eggs with essence of smoked trout and the artichoke dip!

Not the best location so was not very excited to visit but was pleasantly surprised by our entire experience. The service and food was outstanding! From the trout deviled eggs, to the beef bruschetta, to the meat loaf, to the fried chicken and ending with the key lime pie....it was all done to perfection. There was not one dish we didn't wish we could just have one more bite! I'm not typically a fan of fried chicken due to the greasiness and thick batters but blue plate made it so good.. boneless, juicy, thin and flavorful batter. The beef bruschetta was so unique ..all the ingredients and flavors blended so well together. And lastly the key lime pie....the smoothness of the filling and the perfect crunchy crust...I just wanted to take an entire pie to go! Looking forward to bringing other friends back!

Came for happy hour on a Friday when all appetizers were $10 and glasses of wine were $8. By 5:30 pm, the beautiful outdoor garden was already full, and it seemed like we barely made it in time without a reservation. We shared almost all the appetizers for our meal. My favorite bites were the smoked beef bruschetta and charred octopus, which was such a steal during happy hour! I also enjoyed the creamy artichoke dip. I couldn't taste the fish in the smoked trout deviled eggs, and the chilled prawn cocktail was just okay. I'm glad I tried their happy hour, but I probably won't be back for a while.

Such a memorable sf restaurant week dinner This restaurant offers so many amazing appetizers that ill be coming back during happy hour just to try them all for ten bucks each(grilled octopus, looking at you) Servers were very smiley and nice and I appreciate that a lot with so many servers being not so warm these days. We sat inside but almost facing their garden which would be great for a warm day with your partner or friend group. Dined for two people and it cost us 130 i think with tip. The place also offers in kind app cashback so that's a win too. Only reason i am giving them 4 stars - please add a couple more mains options to your menu and update it if you can this year

Had a very nice dinner here tonight. Garden seating added to the ambiance of the night. Fried chicken for the win! Petrole Sole was good...for us the fried chicken was so delish. Chopped salad was shared as a starter. Super friendly and attentive service. Great timing... no rushing to move the table along which we so appreciated. Blue Plate is an establishment we will return to over and over again.

Very impressed. Restaurant had a wonderful vibe and a beautiful, hidden back outdoor patio. More importantly, the food was outstanding. As was the service. Menu is limited, but honestly that made it even better. We tried to vote every appetizer every single one was great as we're our entrées finished with both Keylime pie and their butterscotch pudding, they both knocked it out of the park, cocktails, and wine list and even nonalcoholic options were wonderful. Highly recommend this place for a date night or a couples dinner or a business meet up. Someplace I might return.

We've had Blue Plate on our "to try" list for quite a few years and finally decided to stop by for dinner. I'm so glad we did! The food was on point! The interesting thing is we actually enjoyed the appetizers even more than the mains. And yes, we did order the vaunted fried chicken; it was worth having once. The meat itself was juicy and it had a very hard crispy layer, but I felt maybe it needed a touch more seasoning. The ambience reminds me of nice southern food restaurants I've been to in Georgia and the Carolinas. Service was great! We were a bit late for our reservation but they sat us in an even better area than we reserved. We literally booked our next visit before we asked for the check. That's how much we liked it. Give it a try!

nice place in the neighborhood. We came for happy hour. I want to try coming for dinner. we got the charred octopus and the raclette cheese and mortadella. The key lime pie was actually insane. I should just come here for our it's ridiculous. the octopus was nice and not too chewy. loved the cheese and bread. I think I could drink the cheese. Loved the wine I got and happy hour prices even better.

Definitely a hidden gem of Bernal Heights! If you're looking for a good plate of fried chicken or a slice of meat loaf that will transport you to your childhood, Blue Plate is the comfort kitchen you've been looking for. Blue Plate is nestled along the bustling Mission St, sandwiched in between a row of many tasty eateries. The service is amazing here, the menu is extensive and will satisfy any southern or comfort food cravings you have, and the ambiance is laidback yet romantic. This place is perfect for a romantic date or a special occasion with friends!

Although the food menu seems relatively scarce, the food has some unique flavor combinations. They have some non-rotating menu items that are the go-to if it is the first time. I visited the restaurant during their restaurant week and happy hour. My party ordered mostly appetizers for happy hour, but also got an order of the prix fixed menu for restaurant week. Everything we ordered tasted great.

The whole experience at The Blue Plate was truly magical--hands down the best fine dining experience I've ever had. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the intimate ambiance and the exceptional, gold-standard service. The staff made us feel so welcomed and cared for--it really elevated the entire night. The food was absolutely delicious. Every single plate was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. My personal favorites were the linguine and clams and the fried chicken--both were cooked to perfection. I also have to mention the brochette, which was amazing! This is a 5-star dining experience through and through, and I'm already looking forward to coming back. If you're looking for a spot that nails food, service, and atmosphere all at once--The Blue Plate is it.

Great comfort food in Bernal heights. Ordered the fried chicken, meatloaf, and key lime pie. All excellent, especially the meatloaf which I would typically avoid at other places.

There was only 1 worker that day as it was an early weekend, but the service was fast, she was attentive to the patrons that was there and also helped us with only ordering red as we both did not have an interest in drinking white wine. The Charcuterie board options were good, and we got the meat, cheese, and olives (sorry, I forgot which exact ones). It was a great pairing to go with the wine, and I'll definitely be back to try more of their appetizers. Thankfully I was able to use the restroom without a fee, with my gear held up outside by the security team. While waiting in the restroom line, I told a staff member about all this, and the worker seemingly went up to the front to find out what's going on. The line took a few minutes, my friends also bumped into me, and I told them I'd likely wait for them outside the business post-restroom while they finished their wine. It's all rather unfortunate as other visits here went off without an issue. I warned a group of four about all this while I waited out front, and after talking to the front door folks, they left and thanked me for the advice. Please be careful if you visit here. . . .

I'm completely fine paying more at a wine bar for the atmosphere, service, and experience, but knowing what some of these bottles actually retail for, the markup felt excessive for what was being poured. They do offer a full food menu and some of it sounds interesting, but I wasn't impressed enough with the wine experience or value to want to stay and try the food, so I can't speak to that. As for the Los Chuchaquis, I personally didn't love it. I found it a little too tannic and bitter for my taste. If you have a low tolerance for bitterness, this might not be the wine for you.
