Lasagna at neighborhood happy hour. Thu 2023-06-01

I had totally underestimated this place and am so glad to have a lovely little neighborhood wine (and cocktail!) bar. The staff is super friendly. You can tell they want to build a community around their little spot, and with how welcoming and genuine they are, it won't be hard. Their red wine sangria is spot on. Four ladies with very different tastes enjoyed it. 4 stars. I was very surprised to see they had a cocktail menu! I love the names (Mission Terrace, Excelsior, the 29 - our local bus). I got the 29 Mezcal Sour - 4.5 stars. Lovely, excellent egg white foam. Smoky mezcal flavor, subtly sour. Loved it.

Nice rose on a shiny day.

The cutest little neighborhood wine bar! Just down the street from me and my boyfriend. We wanted a grab a glass of wine one night after dinner and was able to sneak in right before closing. The ambiance of this place is amazing. The owner is sweet and very humble man. He made the perfect recommendation for me and the glass of wine was just what I was looking for to end the night. Will definitely stop by again and try to come more often!

Neighborhood business that brought life back to Mission Terrace after 17mins ha of the pandemic! The owner and his mother are the highlight of this bar - super friendly and warm! There is a park-let with indoor seating. The indoors are welcoming and vibrant and there's good music and a good section of wine! Definitely growing!

What a great addition to this area. Great wines, great atmosphere and I find myself always wanting to check in The night I was there they had a singer and a super fun crowd. It's about time this neighborhood got something like this!

In Vino Veritas !!! and TBT - this place is new, fun, chill, cozy, warm, a hidden gem ... ( soo many adjectives to describe this wine lounge) and with the most friendliest owners that I have ever come across! The place is lively with friendly folks all around and some delish wine to take your sommelier palate to the next level. And if you are lucky, you may have the owners (Richie and Geoff) themselves pouring your drinks while they heartily welcome you. This place embodies that friendly vibe "Mi Casa Su Casa" ! Looking forward to many chill evenings here with my friends = )

They thought of everything: bag hooks and charging pods under the bar. THANK YOU!!

I love this place! Friendly vibe, international wine list and the best flatbread pizza and cheese plates. Owners are super nice and, can I say how much I appreciate the bag hooks and phone charger underneath the bar? That's so thoughtful!

Love this cute neighborhood spot. Sad that I can't make it around much these days. But if you're in the area and want a laid back vibe while you sip your wine, the owners here will make you feel like family. Also, the food.... YUM

Went on a Thursday night with my girlfriend and we had an amazing time! The owners were very attentive and welcomed us with open arms. The drinks were fantastic and there are many to choose from! Whether you're looking for a new place for a date, a girls night out, or a new place to try, definitely keep The Check-In Lounge in mind!

Walked in and found the place very nice. You have your bar in front and a combination of chairs and tables throughout the room, with some very nice artwork, atmosphere, and the bathroom tiles were delightful, felt very rustic and modern. There was only 1 worker that day as it was an early weekend, but the service was fast, she was attentive to the patrons that was there and also helped us with only ordering red as we both did not have an interest in drinking white wine. The Charcuterie board options were good, and we got the meat, cheese, and olives (sorry, I forgot which exact ones). It was a great pairing to go with the wine, and I'll definitely be back to try more of their appetizers. If you're a local in the area and want a place to de-stress with a glass of wine, this is your place!

Overall such a gem in the Excelsior, love having a local wine bar that feels approachable and relaxing with no big crowd or wait. Worth an excursion to visit. Compared to other wine bars felt pretty affordable too.

This wine bar is hidden from plain view and tucked away in the Excelsior/Outer Mission. Some friends and I discovered this little gem while looking for a place to have a nightcap. Sippin' Wine Bar is located on the second floor of the Bottoms Up Bar, but the vibe is totally different. Not sure if the two bars are actually affiliated, but they are like night and day. The stairs leading up to the bar are lit up and the interior of the bar is just absolutely gorgeous! It's spacious and low lit with an extremely sexy ambience. The decor is just out of this world! They have the cutest tables and sofas. The lamps and artwork are very unique but visually appealing, and the tables are set with candles that create a very sensual vibe. There's a small but adorable little patio where you can relax and get some air. The interior designer deserves a pat on the back AND a few glasses of wine (wink wink). Speaking of wine, they have tons and tons of it! Their selection is extensive and they make it really obvious with all of their lovely wine bottles that are on display. I really enjoyed their Angeline Pinot Noir as well as the Kungfu Girl Riesling. They serve food here as well. We had just come from dinner, but a few of us who shall remain nameless (cough cough) were still hangry and ordered garlic noodles, garlic fries, and tater tots. Yep, somebody's breath was stankin' but it wasn't mine! Although I didn't try any of the food, It smelled wonderful. There was no food left behind, so I'm assuming that it was delicious! The owner Shirley was fantastic! She happily hosted our group and let us sample several different wines from her collection. She mingled with us as well and talked about the business. The bar is still relatively new and opened a little over 2 years ago, so she is still trying to generate more business. I'm hoping that more people will frequent this place because I really enjoyed it and would love to see it stick around. So glad we stumbled upon this spot, and I'm looking forward to many more future visits.

Located in the legendary Mission District of San Francisco, this wine bar is a great spot to catch up with friends and enjoy small bites and yummy crafted cocktails. Their decor is very chic and I especially loved all of the hardware, glasses, tables, and benches. This place was styled by a great design artist. Even though the place was pretty packed and can be kind of noisy, I still felt very calm amongst all the healthy plants and loved the sophisticated 70s inspired glassware. Another great feature of this place is that you can buy most of the plants because they have some for sale so after a couple of cocktails, I was ready to redecorate my whole house with all the plants. I ordered a yummy Rose blend that was super crisp. Also enjoyed the Truffle Fungi! A delicious Shiitake and oyster mushrooms with parmesan and arugula on toasted bread. Their Spanish inspired potatoes were delicious with their dipping sauce. They have lots of gatherings there and DJ sets on the weekends. Lastly, a photographer would die to take pictures here. There is no bad shot as the design artist made sure every section of this cute wine bar was picture perfect. Loved all my photos and videos. I look forward to returning to this exquisite wine bar!

Charging the $10 event fee on discretion before the posted event start time seems... shady? illegal? My two friends got in a few minutes before with no cover. I was dealing with a bike lock while they went in. We were not there for the event but rather as volunteers from the weekly cleanup refuse crew in the Mission. You get perks as a thank-you for doing your part in making the City a cleaner place. We had just had a lovely time at another participating business (Beehive) and planned on Arcana being our final stop. Thankfully I was able to use the restroom without a fee, with my gear held up outside by the security team. While waiting in the restroom line, I told a staff member about all this, and the worker seemingly went up to the front to find out what's going on. The line took a few minutes, my friends also bumped into me, and I told them I'd likely wait for them outside the business post-restroom while they finished their wine. Already reported to the Mayor's Office. Maybe I'll add BBB. Should be honest and equitable! Four out of 200+ reviews by me have been one star, so I rarely share negativity. It's all rather unfortunate as other visits here went off without an issue. I warned a group of four about all this while I waited out front, and after talking to the front door folks, they left and thanked me for the advice. Please be careful if you visit here. . . .
