We dined last night. Service was great. Loved the vibe. Food was delicious. By far the best option at The Hyatt.

The Blue Point Provision Company, located at the Hyatt Chesapeake, offers good food from the land and sea with an amazing view of the Choptank River. Musts here include the oysters Rockefeller and braised beef short ribs (which sits on top of saffron risotto). Service was pleasant and friendly, with our waiter checking on us at regular intervals. There's inside and outside seating. If the weather is nice and you want to dine with a view, highly suggest sitting outdoors. Pro tip: If you don't feel like taking the ~10 minute stroll to the restaurant, have the front desk call a golf cart to come pick you up. read more

Great atmosphere and a wonderful view of the Choptank river.... But the food left a lot to be desired. In a restaurant like this offering a Maryland crabcake should be a given and something that they have perfected.. what was served were two slightly overcooked hockey puck size discs with no lump crab meat to be found. ... That were also smashed flat. Marilyn crabcake should have just enough binder to barely hold them together... And in my opinion, not brown on the outside. The short rib was good... Mildly under season for my taste... a little salt and pepper. I would recommend that dish.. Our waitress was friendly and made sure that our drinks were full, and the staff in general were smiling faces all around . Again, a beautiful view... But you really need to get your prices in line with what is being served out of that kitchen . read more

They only serve $59 seafood buffet. It's very limited selection though. No prime rib, no crab legs or any crab at all, except crab soup. The positive and where you can make r money back are the raw oyster bar and chilled shrimp. Ate over a dozen! Good salted rockfish and beef brisket. And cheese selection. The other review mentioned mashed potatoes and crab Mac and cheese in buffet - not when I was here. The negative, the host wasn't very attentive and our waitress was no where to be seen at first. Our waitress when finally acknowledged us said her hello and took our drink order (now getting the drinks is another story) and did take away our used plates. The dishwasher wasn't good since so many of their plates were so dirty still. Desserts is just three items. Where is the ice cream! I don't know if I'll come back. Waters edge grill in the main hotel building occasionally has dinner buffets (have to ask) for those seeking buffet dining. read more

UPDATED 7/2024: Hyatt is trying to up their game at this location. They've ditched the seafood-only buffet (YAY!) and they are expanding their offerings to include more dietary friendly menu options. They are still staff challenged due to worker shortage? But those that are there are very friendly and helpful. With the amazing views to the Choptank River, this should be as packed when they are open as other waterfront venues. As it stands now, it is not and likely hard to get past visitors to return to try it after sad results on a prior visit. I haven't tried the food yet but was there for a work-related happy hour otherwise I don't think I would have returned. Now, it's back on the table as a potential. They have happy hours and live music on Thursdays during the summer months. They will still close for the season. Check their hours. read more

Ate here tonight for dinner with the family. They were only offering a buffet or 5 crabs as an add on. Buffet was great but $60 and I cant eat enough to get my money's worth, however the food offered at the buffet was varied and delicious. Crab hush puppies, salmon, shrimp, oysters on the half shell, German potato salad, regular "make it your way" salad, maryland crab soup, crab Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, short ribs, and much more. We had an amazing meal here. Both times we have eaten here it has been great. The servers are always very attentive. The food was so yummy! I got the blackened rockfish and the lemon butter sauce. My spouse got the Lobster Mash and we shared the crab ceviche. Even the kids Mac and cheese was super creamy and tasty. The Caesar salad had a great tomato dressing that was unique and tasty. I don't know why this restaurant doesn't get better reviews. We always have a great experience and great food. We will be back next year! read more

Bottom Line: Nice atmosphere, good food, disappointing service. My husband and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at the Hyatt in Cambridge. Being too tired to venture into downtown Cambridge we decided to celebrate at Blue Point Preserve. We walked too and from dinner along the oyster shell trail but on a cold windy evening the complimentary shuttle would have probably been a better choice. The restaurant has the perfect decor for a seafood place - it gives a nice nod to the Chesapeake Bay way of life but isn't overly done. Also, the restaurant offers nice views of the Choptank River. We started with fried calamari which was perfectly cooked. We also received complimentary cornbread which was dry and crumbly, I guess the way cornbread usually is. Our entrees were tasty and included the local Rockfish and the salmon. While the decor was nice and the food very tasty, the service was a huge let down as it was very inattentive and inexperienced. I think a present manager and some coaching could go along way as our server was pleasant but just seemed young and untrained. For a special evening I wish we had chosen a different restaurant. Having dimes at all of the Hyatt restaurants, my recommendation is to venture into town for lunch and dinner. read more

Compulsory $60 seafood buffet for dinner. Not disclosed on the website or when you make a reservation. I didn't find out the buffet was the only option until I arrived at the restaurant. Turned right around and walked out because only a wrestling team could get $60 per person in value from a seafood buffet. (There are light eaters in every family, including mine.) The place was empty at 6 pm on a Saturday night, and I can see why. One star for totally scrambling my evening plans with this surprise. Just tell people the buffet is the only option! read more

We are staying at the marina which is another real disappointing point :-) It has been a long time since I have eaten here and it will be a very long time if ever I come back. The service was great , friendly and efficient. But lets start from the beginning...we ate at 8:00 pm not late not early, but we were told they were out of oysters and salmon ...really , on limited menu already and they were out of two prime items at a seafood restaurant in the heart of oyster country ! My friend wanted a house salad and they brought him mixed greens stuffed in soup cup ...i am not kidding! My wife and eye had the melon and mozzarella salad ...melon balls and mozzarella balls on a plate !!! I ordered as did several of us, the grouper and broccolini. Fish piece 3 inches by 3 bland with some type of tasteless white sauce Nothing about this place says upscale experience. Hyatt recommends this place so Thursday nights but does not recommend a reservation. Host essentially told us to leave because they were backed up. Make a reservation or get kicked out - politely but not even any consideration for something to open. read more

I feel like this restaurant needs a up to date review. The restaurant is no longer doing the seafood buffet that they were doing coming out of the pandemic and are back to having an a la carte menu. It's a little confusing because it still says it's a seafood buffet on the website but when you click on the menu pdf it is the current menu for the restaurant. Someone at Hyatt needs to take the time to update the restaurant description. Our party of six (4 adults and 2 kids) had a great dinner last night. There was an issue with one of our entrees being very delayed but the server handled it very graciously and made it right. I have never been to a restaurant with so many flies. One of the flies bites my wife's arm. We were going to leave but decided to try the food. The seafood scampi was tasteless. How can a dish with seafood with no taste? The short ribs was food, but it has a lot of fat. I definitely won't come back--also, there is no free refill for soda. Oysters here never disappoint, they were super fresh as always. Tuna Poke was good with lot of tuna and super fresh avocado. Crab cakes appetizer was good. I personally ordered the scallops entree which was very tasty. It came with a corn sauce that was delicious. Just wish that somebody would had advised me to order it with a side because it came with a couple pieces of beets and squash. We ordered chocolate cake and pudding for dessert. Had dinner during the new deck party. Very marginal. The "roasted eggplant " wasn't roasted...barely cooked. No taste and it was 2 long quarters of an eggplant that was still white inside - not cooked thru. Eggplant not good raw. The special pulled beef tacos were good...once you found the meat. The rockfish fish and chips were not good. They came out with a heavy breading and were cut like fish sticks. The orange crush was good but came in a short rock glass - a deck special price. Since we were already staying at the Hyatt Regency Resort and we had previously eaten at two of the restaurants on site, we decided to venture out and try Blue Point Provision. The restaurant is located on the resort, but requires a shuttle to travel to and from too. It was a snowy weekend, so I'm not sure if that's why it was so empty, but the restaurant was basically dead. After checking out the menu I noticed they didn't have many options to choose from. I had to force myself to order something. My dinning companion ordered the ribs and although they looked good, they also looked like they were doused in a bottle of bbq sauce. He enjoyed them though. I had a simple salad and it was just a salad, nothing big. I will say, the service was excellent! We, for some reason, had two servers checking up on us the entire night. They were both very attentive. After we were finished, they gladly called our hotel shuttle to pick us up. Can't say that I would go out of my way to dine here again if we stay at this resort in the future, but it was a change for us while we were there this visit. read more

After a crab guac appetizer and a couple of local draft beers, we went for the lobster, crabs, poke. Everything was very good! Nice outdoor space and modern dining room. This restaurant is located on the Hyatt property which in the spring/summer you could totally walk to, fortunately the hotel provides a shuttle which was convenient especially in the frigid cold. Our first night at the resort my girlfriends and I were craving some good 'ol seafood and of course being near the Chesapeake we knew we were in for a treat. We decided to check this place out after comparing menus with other restaurants on the hotel property. Upon arriving we were greeted immediately; the restaurant wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. Our server was lovely she introduced herself and brought out sweet corn muffins after taking our drink orders. The muffins were a perfect start to the dinner. We ordered the wasabi crab guac for starters It was good, basic guac with some crab meat on top. However the portion was a little off because we realized at the bottom there was a bunch of shredded lettuce, so I feel we were jipped on the actual amount of guac. On to the entrees-my sister ordered the burger-she loved it - totally cleaned her plate. My friend and I decided to share the crab mac and cheese and fish n' chips. Fish and chips were delicious! They were flaky, airy and not greasy AT ALL *perfection*. It also came with curry ketchup, a spiced of version of regular ketchup. It was also a great portion 3 large pieces of fish. Now the crab mac and cheese didn't hit the mark with us. It was too creamy like a watered down béchamel sauce vs stretchy gooey cheese. We felt that the cheese didn't compliment the crab and hopefully the restaurant can rework this dish perhaps. I think bottom line, the service was great, we were checked on enough times during our dinner. I think the highlights of the burger and fish & chips would probably lead me to go back. This restaurant is on the pricier end so the expectation level is really that each dish would hit it out the park. *For our experience I would give them a solid 3.5* read more

Went to Blue Point for dinner twice during our stay at the Hyatt Chesapeake Bay. The first night was incredible. My wife's stuffed lobster tail was exceptional, but the star of the evening was the whole pan-grilled snapper I ordered. The second night, however, was just okay--granted our expectations were really high given our meals on the first night. My wife ordered the salmon, which was rather bland and lacked the same TLC (ie seasoning) that my snapper received. I had the crab mac and cheese, which was okay (honestly crab by itself is not really filling, lobster would have been a nice addition). The dish was definitely more of a creamy crab pasta, rather than "Mac and cheese." I would strongly recommend going the first night and splurging to your heart's desire. I would pass on the second evening, though. read more

As with many restaurants struggling for staff I applaud Blue Point for coming up with a different format for meeting customers needs. I am not a fan of buffet and did not know till I arrived for my reservation. $59 for a buffet is outrageous. $28 for salad bar. In lieu of buffet I'd propose a small fresh menu. We started with a green salad and the gratis corn bread, then I had a fresh fish of today - I chose tuna from 5 selections (Red snapper, Mahi, Groper, Tuna and something similar to flounder). I had it pan seared with inside pink color. The corn bread was excellent! I could taste lots of corn in there. The salad was very well tossed with oil and orange vinaigrette and very light. The tuna steak was said to come with veggies and starch, and it did but I was expecting a bigger portion of veggies, I was a little disappointed when I saw the plate. (please look at my photo). The tuna was fresh and tasty to my taste, but generally speaking, I thought it was a borderline too salty. (or I should say, borderline between "too salty" and "adequately salty". ) I felt like I wanted plain Japanese steamed rice with it, since it was a little too salty by itself. The service was nice with the specials explained by our server Wayne using the board on front and back sides. That was really cool. Very spacious and attractive architecture interior with a nice outside deck dining area right by the marina. The hotel shuttle bus or the golf cart takes you there from the hotel (Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay) and pick you up and takes you back to the hotel too. read more

I'm not a huge yelper so when I do... Just take that into consideration... Let me start by saying the service was absolutely sub bar. Our server had no idea who's drinks and meals were who's. It was like a cattle call for items and there were only 7 of us. If I'm paying 36 dollars for a dinner... I expect to not have to say "yeah I had the rockfish." I asked for doubles... There is no way in hell they were doubles. My she crab soup was awful. When our server approached us and saw barely any of the soup was consumed... She was like... "Oh was that not to your liking?" I said "yeah not good at all." No I'm sorry and it was still on my tab at the end which I felt was terrible form. My rockfish was terribly fishy and was not worth 36 bucks AT ALL. It sucks that this is like your only option if you are docking at Cambridge. read more

This Hyatt Chesapeake restaurant is at the marina, so quite convenient for us since we arrived by sailboat. The atmosphere is fun and eclectic, kinda like Disney's Flying Fish restaurant at Epcot, and doesn't have that boring hotel feel to it. There are a lot of families and kids (negative) but we took a table outside overlooking the bay with gorgeous water views and views of the hotel at night. It's quieter outside with less kids. Plus they let our dog sleep under the table while we ate so we didn't have to leave him locked on the boat (thank you). Service was amazing!!! Patrick, our waiter, was knowledgable, prompt, attentive and enjoyable. He was professional and went out of his way to ask the kitchen if they could modify some dishes to make them vegetarian. The flatbread was creative and good. Starter sweet cornbread rolls are addictive! They should offer those for dessert. There is a large cocktail/drink/wine/beer menu and a list of fresh fish (at least 20 kinds) which can be prepared broiled, pan seared, blackened or something else. The ordering style is similar to McCormick & Schmicks. We dined just after 5 days of rain, so the mosquitoes made their appearance about the same time as our entrees. The staff lit torches, but a few tables moved inside. We endured but got our desserts to go. I doubt they're this bad normally. I was at a work-related retreat at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, Maryland last weekend. My girlfriend and I came here for dinner. The restaurant was a short walk from the hotel, but you also have the option of a shuttle. I recommend the walk from the back of the hotel along the Bay. Anyhow, we both ordered blackened Mahi-Mahi... and both agreed that the fish was FABULOUS. It was extremely fresh, well seasoned, and not at all dry. It came with delicious cheese risotto as a side (highly recommended). We also had "bay fries" as a second side and these were disappointing. They were a bit soggy and below average for fries. You're better off with another option. I would have also preferred regular bread instead of corn bread, but it was good nonetheless. The restaurant itself is on the casual side, so no need to dress fancy. We each had a glass of house white wine, and it was a good combination with the fish. Overall, if I were to stay at the Hyatt again (and it was a great hotel), I would definitely pay another visit to Blue Point. read more

We were staying at adjacent hotel. Blue Point has s great location with fantastic views. The ambiance is nice as well, with high ceilings, rows of fans and tasteful decor. I got the rockfish, which was great. My wife got the crab cakes and they were among the best I have ever had. The biggest problem here was service. After being, seated, we waited 20 minutes for a server to show up, and this was after asking the hostess twice for help. Once our server did show up it was another 10 minutes for drinks and so on and so forth. It was slow! That being said, I would probably try Blue Point again just for the food and views. read more

Didn't meet expectations for what was to be a special dinner celebration. The outdoor deck is nice with a pleasant water view. The service was slow. The restaurant wasn't even half full and the waitress said our drinks would be awhile because the bar was backed up. We had to ask for bread plates. The oysters were good. Our food was really salty - asparagus soup, green beans, main dishes. The crab stuffing in the lobster had a lot of shell and cartilage. I gave up trying to eat it. The large shrimp weren't deveined and cleaned, and when we finally found our server and let her know she first said she'd take it off our bill. Appropriate response. Then she returned stating the kitchen says that's the way they serve it and she didn't take it off the bill. A very disappointing experience especially for a Hyatt Resort Property. Didn't offer dessert, we had to ask for it, then they ran out of coffee and mugs!!?? Brought our coffee out in paper cups.
