Dear Brides and others: We were not sure what to expect when we chose Blue Poppy Floral to provide my wife's bouquet of Calla Lilies for a late June wedding a few weeks ago. We had never been in to the store so we based our decision solely on reading reviews of others. The glowing reviews do not lie. Throughout the process, utmost professionalism and cordial communications were always provided. Punctual responses via email and telephone were what made choosing them feel like the right florist for us. Diep/Deb guided my wife along the way, informing her that my wife's choice was not going to be easy to find because Calla Lilies season ends in May and our wedding was at the end of June. Despite the advice, my wife was not wavering from her want of fresh real Calla Lilies for her bouquet. So Diep/Deb special ordered them from South America. On the day of the wedding, Diep/Deb sent a message with photos of the flowers she received in the shipment because she was concerned the flowers were too "bruised" and not healthy enough for a bouquet. I called Diep/Deb, at the request of my wife to discuss the issue. Diep/Deb was so apologetic and explained what had happened and why in more detail than necessary. She had made an alternate bouquet of smaller Calla Lilies to offer instead of the ones she obtained and also offered to make a completely different white bouquet using different flowers in a pinch if necessary. After a long discussion, Diep/Deb allowed us to take home both arrangements she made so that the bride could make a choice in person without going to the floral shop the day of the wedding. We had a family member pick them up and discovered that Blue Poppy Floral did not charge us!!! Wow! Unheard of!!! We stopped by a week later to pay respects to such a wonderful gift and beautiful shopkeeper and to buy some houseplants to support such a wonderful little shop for making our wedding day a memorable one. Diep/Deb's daughter, Andrea, was kind and knowledgeable and helpful as much as her mother was. We had selected two plants originally and one of them was under watered and needing love so she gave that one to us free of charge. So we in return selected another one in response to such a nice gesture, only to have her then give us a 10% discount on our purchase. Wow! We'll be returning as frequent customers just from the two times doing business with Blue Poppy Floral because their customer service is top notch above and beyond! read more

This place is a gem! The owner was so warm and friendly and the price of 4 dahlias with additional flowers was lest than $7. The variety of other indoor plants was great and I will for sure come again! The store itself is narrow so it can be hard to see unless you are walking around the neighborhood and used to be part of the dance studio before it got renovated into smaller suites. But please do take a peek and you'll be in for a treat. The shop smells pleasantly of lemongrass and feels so refreshing and soothing. read more

Great little neighborhood florist who sources flowers from local growers! This is a great place to find indoor plants and gifts for friends and loved ones! All of the plants look well taken care of in the shop and there is a good selection of cards to go along with your gifts should you need one. Diep was quick to respond to my email inquiring about ranunculus (my favorite flower!) Initially she couldn't find any, but later let me know she located some! She put them in a nice little arrangement for me when I came to pick them up so they were fresh and lovely. I received a total "Care package " from a dear friend via Blue Poppy - last week while I am recovering from my first Covid infection. They delivered after their normal hours because my friend lives in a different time zone and called at closing time. The arrangement was a beautiful orchid with a handmade origami bird, several different lightly and attractively scented soaps ( for the bath, shower and hands) , Lemon ginger tea, a soy based light and attractive candle, some honey spoons to stir into the tea, Japanese candy and a beautiful plantable card! I was so impressed that I called the owner and had an amazing conversation where she shared some of her life experiences and was supportive to my recovery! I am so impressed by the quality of the orchid ( this is not your ordinary orchid) and all of the other products. So, I've only been here once, but so far I am loving this as a place to get house plants. I got two amazing house plants that are a lovely addition to my space. The staff was super helpful not only helping me navigate a world of houseplants that feels *new* and scary to me, but I found out they do giveaways on their instagram, they took the time to help me figure out my aesthetic taste with plants, and they even take custom plant requests via their instagram DMs. My plants are still doing well a week later (fingers crossed!), and I'm excited to go back and get a few more to brighten up my apartment. I cannot rave enough about my experience with Blue Poppy. I live on the East Coast, but wanted to send a friend in Seattle flowers and found the pictures on the Blue Poppy site charming. I decided to call to get a sense of pricing and the owner, Diep, answered. Not only were her prices reasonable, but she was so warm and genuinely interested in what I wanted. She asked about my friend's personality and the types of flowers she likes, so that she could create a truly custom arrangement. Since I work in customer service, I'm always appreciative of high-quality customer service, but my interaction with Diep really warmed my heart on a day where all the COVID news and inequality in the world was hitting me hard. We worked with Blue Poppy for our wedding arrangements and it was an awful experience. For 5 months it was difficult to get answers and we continually asked for pictures of our arrangements. Then when we were finally able to go pick everything up 5 days before our wedding, never having seen anything before, we were very disappointed and asked her to make a couple changes. She simply refused to make any changes, such as covering up the white tape exposed on boutonnières. Now I have no clue what we are going to do at such short notice. This shop is fantastic! I've been in twice and have had wonderful experiences both times. The first time, the super sweet proprietor Deb helped me to assemble a birthday bouquet for a friend. She pulled blooms out of the back which had just arrived, helped arrange them beautifully, and was a joy to speak with. The bouquet was full of garden roses and winter red peonies, and was received by a friend with much praise. The second time, I came in to purchase some potted plants and gifts. I found exactly what I was looking for, and found the collection of plants and planters to be exceptionally diverse and beautiful. Often you see the same planters everywhere -- 99% of their stock I'd never seen before! Their plants were all super healthy and have remained happy after arriving home. The small gifts I purchased were unique and very appreciated. This area has long needed a high quality flower, plant, and gift shop -- Blue Poppy is all those in one! Deb, the owner of Blue Poppy Floral, came to our rescue today. We have a dear friend whose father is suddenly critically ill, and we wanted to send a special arrangement of flowers to her. Deb stepped up with a beautiful arrangement of a dozen Tiara (David Austin antique premium) roses, cream spray roses, wax flowers, and three types of eucalyptus. I called and left a message on a day the shop was closed to order flowers to be delivered to a friend of mine who experienced the loss of a dear friend. The next day Diep phoned me from the flower market. She was so nice and asked me what I liked, what colors I wanted, what style etc. She asked if my friend had pets and said she would not use any lilies as cats are allergic. She even described some of the flowers she was finding available at the market. She also said she would put it in a reusable pot rather than a vase for him - so insightful! She remarked that she would be working late to do deliveries as she was getting so many requests for sympathy arrangements during this pandemic. She sent me a pic and message to say when the bouquet was delivered and even upgraded the arrangement since she got it out late. I did not have any idea that it was late and was just glad my friend got it that evening, but Diep has very high standards. This is clearly a special place and Diep is a very caring person.
