Recently, after a major rainfall, I noticed bubbling on the wall beneath one of the windows. Blue Ribbon sent out a technician to inspect the issue. The technician admitted that the bottom part of the window wasn't caulked properly and then proceeded to "caulk the heck out of it." However, they suggested that the issue might be due to the tub, which seemed off to me. Wanting to get to the bottom of the issue, I hired a separate contractor to investigate. Upon ripping open the wall, we discovered mold and 75% saturation coming from below the window. When I called Blue Ribbon again, they now blamed the previous window. Despite my persistence, they finally suggested a "water test," but I questioned its effectiveness after they had already caulked everything. Since then, I have not received a response from Blue Ribbon. I am now in the process of contacting a lawyer to address this issue legally. This experience has left me very concerned about the other windows they installed in my home. Fair warning to anyone considering Blue Ribbon: their workmanship is poor, and their customer service is worse. Save yourself the headache and choose a different company.

Other companies had given estimates but did not understand that the 3rd floor window was causing the problem. I have recommended Superior Exteriors to my daughter for new windows, my neighbor who got a new roof and my sister who also had work done on her roof. Everything seemed great at first--professional, responsive, helpful--right up until they picked up the first check and cashed it. After that, just like so many of the negative reviews here, the red flags started to show. Communication fell off a cliff. Promises were made and broken. Every concern was met with, "Call the office, I'm on vacation." I've only dealt with Joe (not Dan), and I understand one or two bad apples shouldn't define an entire company. But there has to be accountability somewhere--especially when I believe the owner is Joe's brother? As someone who works full-time in real estate--as an investor, property manager, and property owner--I've worked with dozens of contractors over the years. This has unfortunately been one of the worst experiences I've ever had. The lack of preparation, miscommunication, and mishandling of unexpected issues has been mind-blowing. The roof was torn off without identifying or addressing significant problems (like rotted soffits) that any competent roofing team should have caught during the initial inspection. On top of that, they had to come back multiple times just to get more interior roof photos--because they failed to account for yet another thing they should have caught upfront. This only dragged the project out further, since they had to submit an insurance claim adjustment. And while we were promised that this wouldn't affect our insurance rates--sure enough, it did. Not a huge deal in itself, but it's yet another example of how they'll say anything to land the job, then fail to deliver. Now we're left mid-project, scrambling with no roof, rain in the forecast all week, and zero clear direction from Joe. His latest response? "I can't help you, call the office." Hope their insurance is up to date--though based on how everything else has gone, I wouldn't count on it. I want to be able to update this review someday with a positive resolution. I want to say they made it right. But at this point, I have zero faith left. If you're considering hiring this company--please, do your homework. Read the negative reviews carefully. Tony was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The pricing was comparable to another estimate we received, but we are confident that these windows are better quality and will last longer. They included a fix for a hole in our siding without trying to upsell us for all new siding. We ordered in October and the manufacturer had our windows ready for installation in December. The crew that came out were so friendly and very respectful of our home. Scheduling the installation, painting, cleanup, and finishing touches was a breeze. The winter weather did make it difficult for the crew to clean up nails and debris on the outside, but they did come back when it was warmer to clean up. We look forward to hiring them for other services, possibly roof and siding.

It was a mess. I carefully researched companies that did exterior work. I ultimately chose Olson on the basis of their reputation of doing high-quality work. Shortly thereafter I met with the project manager (Joe H) and he was helped me get the colors and materials picked and ordered and the project was underway. When the install day arrived, I was introduced two a 2-man work crew that would be handling the bulk of the work. In the course slightly more than a week, they totally rebuilt the full exterior of my home. The results are amazing and the home feels new again! Two things really stood out to me and my experience with Olson. 1). The work ethic of that two-man crew. They worked as hard as anyone I have ever seen. Except for lunch, work was non-stop from sunrise to sunset. This was hard and grueling work, especially the demolition of the old siding and stone fascia. They showed up every day like clockwork, and cleaned up after each day. 2). The quality of work they demonstrated. They absolutely knew what they were doing, and they were very good at it. Everything was installed true, level, without gaps, etc. Caulk lines were perfect etc. Everywhere they worked you could see the pride in what they do, and it was very clear there were no shortcuts taken. These two gentlemen were expert craftsman and I can gratefully say my house now reflects that. It turned out more beautiful than I'd ever imagined. I have never nor will ever receive any compensation for this review. My sole motivation for writing is to share the positive experience I had with Olson. Finding a trustworthy company for a project of this size and investment is daunting. Olson, especially their work crew, deserves recognition for a job well done. We hired Waukegan Gurnee Glass to perform an extremely complicated window replacement project that required the surgical removal of wooden window walls and 1/4" plate glass of over 40 feet in height that dated back to 1972. The openings were replaced with structural curtainwall framing and insulated glass panels. It was a difficult and demanding project that had to be performed in a fully occupied 80 unit building in the dead of winter. EVERY ASPECT of the project went perfectly and smoothly. The finished product looked exceptional and the owners of Waukegan Gurnee Glass were outstanding every step of the way. The project totaled nearly $200,000 and went without a hiccup due to their professional management of the work. I'd recommend them to anyone.
