I am not sure why people say this place is great for breakfast. The pancakes are heavy and you literally need to use a knife to cut through them. The hash browns are a frozen patty that is deep fried versus grilled. The bacon is the thin pre-cooked kind, not the layout bacon one would expect. I asked for eggs over medium and they were cooked perfectly but the yolks were broken on the plate. Service was efficient. I also have to say the place was the cleanest restaurant I've been to. The rest of the menu looks good so we may try again for lunch or dinner. read more

I would have rated them a 5. Their food is good and I was becoming a pretty regular customer. I was ordering for myself and my boyfriend about 2-3 times a week. Their burgers were great, the fries were awesome, and their sandwiches were kind of hit or miss. One day the same sandwich would be great, the next time it would just be so-so. They also would constantly get parts of the order wrong, or forget to give us certain items that we had asked for. I could have overlooked all of this. However, yesterday I took my dog out to pee before I went inside to order. The waitress (I think) took it upon herself to walk outside and YELL at me for letting my dog pee on a bush. A friggin bush. If that is how they value regular customers, I will take my business somewhere else. The Blue Sky is a local Stratford institution as far as breakfast is concerned. Eggs, Pancakes, Waffles, Omelets, Steak & Eggs, Eggs Benedict, Southern Grits, Home Fries, Hash Browns, Bagels, Home Made Muffins and Pies and Cakes... a really great cup of endless coffee. What else could you want.... Hold On... perhaps their best Omelet is The Farmer's Omelet... not for the faint of heart.... sausage, bacon, ham, potatoes, onions and cheese.... Loads of eggs... a serious omelet for sure and usually about 1 1/2" high... seriously scrumptious. Try the chocolate chip pancakes and if they have home made cherry pie, please indulge. Off Menu items are also available... try the grits with a double order of bacon crumbled into the grits.... a serious Southern Comfort dish for sure. The wait staff is loud, funny, and at times bizarre.... This is like being invited to a Greek Wedding.... yelling of orders is the norm.... and part of the charm. Stopped going for a while prior to their shut-down and remodel because I kept getting plain grossed out. Tried again immediately after their reopening and was so disappointed. They were constantly running out of everything! How does a diner run out of roast beef or at least 3 kinds of toast on their menu? Just poor all-around. We were on our way back from NYC and looking for a spot to stop and grab breakfast/lunch. Staff was attentive and pleasant. The food came out quickly and was delicious!! The Blue Sky Diner is one of Stratford's gems. I doubt the negative comments are truthful or honest because I have never had anything but great service, great food, and great treatment by the staff. For someone to say they were regulars before and that they "got rid of" a lot of staff after being shut down for a year. First of all, I doubt they "got rid of" the staff and I'm more inclined to believe that former staff need to work and found jobs elsewhere. I'm sure it was difficult being shut down for a year to pretty much start from scratch with new cooks, waitresses, etc. But a few of the same faces remain - Mary, Sissy, Derek. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is treated great! The food is great and it's great to see that they've added "specials" such as whole wheat pancakes, chocolate chip/banana and other great items. I find very little to believe in the 1/31/2014 comment by Kay S, and the comment by Caren K, of 9/18/13 that she let her dog PEE on the bushes outside the diner - really? There is a side lot of grass, and you chose to allow your dog to PEE right in front of the diner with patrons looking out windows? Shame on you! I'm glad someone went out and said something to you! That was a very rude thing to do! And, while the people cooking your food are human, mistakes sometimes get made, but I certainly doubt it was as often as you state. I love the Blue Sky and have found their food consistent and great. It's like a local Cheers, minus the bar. Regulars are there every Sunday, and even during the week. You see the same smiling, cheerful faces and get the same comic relief from Derek - who is always there to throw a joke in just to make someone's day. read more

This place was pretty good! Not amazing but pretty tasty. My mom and I both had sausage and cheese omelets with home fries and rye toast. The omelets were very cheesy and filling. The home fries were a little spicy, which I liked but my mom didn't. We also ordered an order of cheese blintzes with blueberry sauce and they were only so so. The cheese wasn't very sweet and the blueberries were a little dry. I want to come back and try their pancakes! read more

I went there for the first time today and I had a pleasant experience. I ordered the Swiss omelette with bacon and it was delicious. The wait staff was very friendly. One thing that stuck out to me was my waitress and cashier Mary asked for my name. I NEVER had that happened ever before in a restaurant or food setting. Bonus for that! I live just down the street past Main Street and never bothered visiting. But I'm so glad I did today. I can't wait to bring my dad and sisters with me next time for brunch. read more

The food was okay. Typical diner food. Service was poor. We were seated outside. The waitress was slow to bring us silverware and napkins after bringing our food out and never brought extra napkins when requested. I could not get her attention at all to bring us the check although she did attend to the table next to us even though they arrived after we did. They were long gone and we were still waiting on the check. It was necessary to go inside to request the check from another server. This all sounds very minor but considering that it was an extremely slow time (mid afternoon with very few customers) I found it unacceptable. My father (in his late 80s) was anxious to get home. We made it in time for their $4.95 breakfast deal which is two eggs, home fries, toast, and your choice of coffee, tea or juice (we also ordered a side of bacon for $2). We loved that we were seated right away, our drinks came out 2 minutes after ordering them, our food came out within 10 minutes of ordering, and all of the staff were extremely friendly.. It's what you would expect for a diner run by a Greek family with all the standards, plus some great Greek options, as well as some other great options like the huevos rancheros special. This is really an average diner with some potential if they could improve service, particularly as it relates to attentiveness and accurateness of orders. Our waitress spoke a mile a minute, and raced around like the floor was on fire, and as you can imagine, my wife's ordered turkey burger with no cheese came out as a cheeseburger. By the time they were able to correct it, my wife was full on her fries and I had long finished my Reuben. On the plus side, the food actually was pretty decent, slightly better than the typical greasy spoon, which warrants the three stars. read more

I have to update my experience. I gave this place another shot. The waitress this time (different one) long dark hair in a pony tail took the order. Gave my friend her food, never brought mine out. There was only a few people in there and after about 45 minutes later she glanced over and saw I had no food. I couldn't catch her to ask where it was cuz I think she was wearing roller skates and whizzed by several times. She finally comes out and says oh yours will be out in a minute. I wont charge you for the cup of soup??? Are you kidding me? I found out they gave my food to someone else who ordered take out from the cashier. I should have said cancel it.
