This place back under the prior ownership was amazing. Sadly the new proprietor basically rescued the building and atmosphere inside. The food was horrible. My eggs were ordered sunny side up so the yokes should have been runny when cracked open, toast was brick hard and actually crumbled apart when bit into and the potatos were rock hard. My daughter ordered a cheeseburger cooked medium rare. She cut into it after seeing mine and while it had the appearance of being cooked on the exterior was still frozen in the middle. She ordered a burger not tartare fir crying out loud. Our waitress was understanding and kind. I did pay, just what I was taught to do and we left. Solid diner. Great and quick food. The ambiance is what you'd expect from a diner: a few seating areas and a lengthy menu ~4 pages. I got the whiting and grits platter. It came out fresh and really quick. Def will come back. read more

Racism is alive and well in this establishment. I, my daughter, granddaughter (we're white) and my grandson (who is Black, Puerta Rican and White) went in. We were the only white people in the place. We were not greeted with a smile. No one came to our table for 10 minutes and the place was small and not busy at all. Two tables of Black folks were seated after us, yet their drinks came before ours, as did their food. By the time OUR food came, which took 55 MINUTES (for 3 sandwiches w/fries) in an almost empty place BOTH of those tables had finished their food. Not once were we asked if everything was ok, nor were our drinks refilled. Waitress never smiled ONCE at us or looked me in the eye. Cooks were looking out the window at our tables and laughing. I was DEVASTAED for my grandson as he learned that even his own will target him as he's with us.... white people. He learned a HUGE lesson that day, and loves s even more. more than his own. I've been here about five times now, and the service has always been good. Local crowd, and people waiting to have their motorcycles repaired at Libby's Motorworld down the street. read more

I bought sautéed shrimp and grits and couldn't eat it. Three orders of it and none of us could get past the smell. The shrimp had an awful taste. Seat yourself. Service was pretty quick. We got scrambled eggs with cheese wheat and white toast. Turkey bacon. Grits with butter and grilled cheese and a T-bone steak with orange juice and tea. The eggs were cooked good. Steak was small but good. Grits were a nice consistency. All the food tasted pretty basic. Took a while to get bill once we were finished(still sitting here while writing this review with no check) probably won't be returning. Very small seating. read more

Olympia was quiet this morning. We were able to find a seat pretty quickly, service was a little slow but we made the best of it. We had the french toast with sausage links, grits with cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs and bacon. This restaurant is not a place to go if you are looking to be impressed. The staff were just staff. The pancakes were pancakes nothing special. I must say that I probably could have cooked up a better breakfast myself. ( I am a terrible cook). Overall, we cannot recommend this breakfast spot because of its lack of impression everything from the food to the customer service was under whelming. read more

I have the opportunity of coming to this diner last week and it was the very first time trying it. I have heard about it many many times however this was the first time I visited. After finding how to get into the door, because the door is shared with another business, it was a little tight restaurant. Smallest space you could probably hold at least 20 people at most but the waiters was very attentive to your needs. You can only use cash to cash out. I tried the fish and grits. The fish was fried well, not season very good but they gave you a lot of fish enough for two servings and a nice sizable portion of grits. The grits were cooked to perfection and the food was pretty good. My friend had a Georgia hot and grits. I love the Georgia hatch they had they were very hot and spicy. Even though the place doesn't look desirable on the outside the food was not bad. I will go back and visit again as long as I take someone along with me. It is not in the best neighborhood and if you are a woman it may be good to go with someone. read more

If your not a fan of REALLY southern types of breakfast with no frills and no ganesh just good food with all the calories than this is not the place for you. This is a family dinner that knows it's community and what they want that no one else caters to. All the food is great and the wait is short. The only draw back is that they do not take credit or debt cards but have no atm in the resturant. Other than that this place is great for a "southern" guy such as myself!! read more

I have always felt I have received the best possible service when I go to Olympia. It is a very humble place where the neighborhood folks eat. Very casual and inexpensive. Their chicken soup is like Grandmas (Made on Mon, Wed & Fri). I asked! Their fried fish is the best ever. They coat it with a seasoned Italian breadcrumb based mixture and whatever else is in there that makes it taste sooooo good, (I've yet to figure it out). You can even get it as a breakfast side with your eggs. I find it hard to believe customers have had a bad experiences there. Perhaps if they try a more positive and friendly approach it will make a difference. They've always been very nice to me... The cook even comes out to chat if it's not busy...very warm and friendly people. Could the person you had the bad experience with have been going through something? We're all human you know and can have an "off " day. We've all done that. Put yourself in that persons shoes and imagine how you would feel in their place. I work in a substance abuse clinic which is crazy rush busy and louder than necessary. No other customer is more impatient than someone with addiction problems. I get yelled at and curse at regularly throughout the day. I have to implement whatever instructions are in the electronic file for each client which 95% of the time they don't want to do. They just want to medicate and leave. 4-5 client vie for my attention at the same time interrupting each other. Be more patient and kinder than necessary. People are going through stuff including rude /impatient customers/long shifts/personal problems or whatever. You're an adult. Treat people like how you want to be treated and everywhere you go will be better with only rare exceptions. Good luck read more

I wish there was an option to put no stars because this diner doesn't even deserve one star. My boyfriend and I tried this diner for the first time in the beginning of the spring this year. It was a wonderful experience, minus the 20 minute wait to be seated, which was to be expected because it was a Sunday morning after church let out. Our waitress was wonderful as well, she was extremely pleasant and very informative. We continued to come to this diner a few times after the first time. Everytime following the first was an absolute nightmare. The waiters would always forget what kind of juice I would order with my breakfast and I would have to repeat it several times before they would understand what I asked for. On top of that, they would always bring out my boyfriend's food before mine or vice versa. This last time we went to the diner we had a new waitress who was great! I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a hard roll with a side of home fries (as usual) and my boyfriend ordered blueberry pancakes. His arrived to the table shortly after we ordered, mine was late as usual. This time though after 20 minutes go by and still no food. I was furious because I am nine months pregnant and starving. The waitress kept yelling into the back to the cooks in the kitchen and no one back there were able to figure out where my food was. At this point I just told the manager that I didn't want the meal anymore and I wanted it taken off of my bill. She looked at me like I had 3 heads and gave me a nasty attitude. My boyfriend hadn't even finished his meal when they came and took away all of his stuff and proceeded to charge us for his meal when he only ate half of it. We asked to speak to the manager and she refused to speak to us and continued to trash talk us to her employees in Spanish. I left after paying and called the diner and asked to speak to her again. I explained the situation to her and told her the service was unacceptable and terrible. She told me she was too busy to speak to me and hung up in my face. Needless to say I will never return there and I will never recommended that diner to anyone not even someone who I didn't like. Highly disappointed! read more
