We stumbled upon this place over the weekend and so happy we did! They're known for their skillets which my friends got 2 of - can't remember exactly which ones but one was a pastrami skillet that came with eggs homefries and pastrami on an iron pan. We ordered the pumpkin pancakes and the biscuits and gravy to share and they were so good and our favorite at the table. My friend and I got the egg salad sandwich on a croissant which sounded amazing but was not tasty. It lacked simple seasonings - that's the only negative. Prices were decent, service was great - we didn't have to wait to sit down, we walked in and looked for our own table... our waitress was friendly and recommended dishes for us to try. My wife and I were both off from work today and decided to go to Breakfast. We live in New Haven and like to travel out of the city to try new places. Stratford Skillet is amazing. As soon as we pulled into the parking and saw two police officers and at least four to five people from nearby businesses enter we knew we chose the right place. My wife had the cinnamon raisin French toast and I had the same thing I always get so I can make a good comparison (two eggs over easy, hash browns, rye toast, bacon and a side of sausage) Eggs were cooked to perfection, the bacon was just right, the sausage links were some of the best I have had in a long time, the hash browns were made with peppers and onions and were cooked just right The staff gave us the perfect amount of service while not being over the top. The ambiance was one of calm and you could tell the staff was relaxed Upon leaving we said our goodbye and thank you and a gentleman behind the front counter who was speaking with the Stratford Officers stopped for a minute and thanked us and told us to be safe in our travels this morning. I can assume he was the owner and, if so, I can see where his staff gets their training My wife and I felt appreciated in that moment. He and the staff had no idea if we were new in town, people passing through or we came in from a different town they truly made us feel welcome and we will certainly be returning Maybe this upcoming Sunday morning!! The service of the place is very good, the waitress knows the menu very well which gives confidence, the coffee is delicious and you can have a refill, I ate the vegetable omelette and added cheese, it was delicious, I loved the homemade fries I didn't like them, they were very hard and they didn't taste like anything (however I put salt and pepper and it didn't change either). Bright, cheery, clean restaurant with great breakfast and lunch menu. The prices are most reasonable and service was friendly and welcoming. We visited on a Monday around 11a.m. and almost all seats were filled. We ordered the homemade corned beef hash and it was so absolutely delicious that we will no doubt return for this! Normally wouldn't consider a place that only had 8 reviews...but I liked the name..laugh out loud The go-to, for my sons and I, when trying a new place is corned beef hash and eggs. All three of said, hands down, THE BEST HOMEMADE CORNED BEEF HASH WE HAVE EVER HAD! One of our friends had the Biscuits and Gravy and was very very happy. First and last time there. Told to sit yourself then tells you to move somewhere else. The waitress asked what we wanted to drink, my husband said coffee so before I could even say what I wanted she brought back 2 coffees. I don't drink coffee. The food was ok. But my biggest complaint was an employee was washing the floor while we were almost done eating. I know the establishment was closing but the smell of the floor being cleaned was awful. Good location, ample parking, easy to find, cozy and open inside. Customer service was great which is hard to find now adays, very attentive staff. The food was good, ordered the big barnum which is a breakfast what basically has a sample of everything. Potatoes were moist and flavorful. The scrambled eggs were real and certainly not that cheap pour out if the box stuff. Pancakes were flavorful, I personally prefer them to have a little crisp on one side of them but these didn't, more of a softer kind. Bacon was tasty and cooked well, I would also prefer more crispy bacon but was still good. Oj was good, almost a cross between bottled and fresh. My husband and I just moved to the area and wanted to try this cute looking place. With not many reviews I was skeptical but they were good.... So my 11 yr old found foreign objects in his food looking like part of of a screen? That's scary and gross. The corn beef did NOT taste home made! Food was room temp also and we picked up promptly. We tried this place finally, and we are happy we did. Stopped in on a Saturday morning and were seated right away. We both ordered specials. I got the strawberry cream cheese french toast with sautéed bananas and my wife got the Eggs Benedict. Both were excellent ! Service was good. We will be back!! read more

There really is nothing I can say that will make this place any better than it already is. I eat here with my family every sunday for breakfast. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and take care of their customers well. My young twins look forward to coming here every week because of how delicious the food is and they always do a fantastic job...Even to the point where they ask to try new things because everything they've had is delicious. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised as how good their food was. My favorite meal of the day happens to be breakfast so I look to find different places for breakfast foods. I've driven past this place a few times but never really looked to closely but recently came across the name on the internet for breakfast foods and gave it try. The sausage omlette was good but it was the pancakes that sealed the deal. I ordered strawberry pancakes and to be honest I wanted to complain when I saw that the strawberries were not in the batter rather they were placed on top. It was the first bite of the pancakes that made me realize that I could forgive them for that. In fact I can't wait to go back and order them again. They are easily one of the best pancakes I've ever had and I was not expecting to experience that. Definitely a place to try; you will not be disappointed! Surprising find on our way to I-95. We were on the Merritt when an accident diverted us. Saw the Stratford Skillet and it looked welcoming. Parking was easy (plenty). Service was super refilling our coffee quickly. We ate breakfast both having eggs and sausage. Sausage was very very good. Best I have had in some time.
