Full of history and character it's a nice art space and right on the Riverwalk too! Host parties here or just come experience art at the Blue Star. Visit the Brewing company or the coffee longe or take a walk on the Riverwalk. Bikes rented here

First Friday in a while and there was alot more people that I've seen in a while. Like some of the art work and drinks pretty good. Good vibes and conversations around everyone.

This is such a cool place to check out some amazing local art! I had the best time at an even that was held there, Pancakes and Booze Art Show. So many cool pieces and interesting people!

We always go on 1st Friday it's the best! Venders are everywhere. Vintage, clothing, incense magical rocks, I happen to pick up a vinyl. The Brick has your drinks not on tap though. I just like seeing all the different people and things. There's also live bands sometimes. Good times.

Great food and jazz! Music room was loud but the band was awesome. Parking was limited, but worth it.

I drove about 30 miles to go visit the Complex and everything was put away by 10:30. I wish it stayed open a bit longer though.

Rent the bikes here and cycle south along the riverwalk to the historic missions. A great afternoon out!

Are all of these spots contained in the same building? If not, where do I start?!

There are 2 or 3 main buildings. No real order to it. Just go have fun.

The store carry's many very different shaped, and colors/sizes of highly unique glass art. Store has a good price selection range; The unique high end items are priced reasonably for their high and excellent quality, and almost all are "one of a kind". The Stores location is right downtown just doors away from the Majestic theater -- you wouldn't expect to find a high quality store like this mixed in with all the main stream stores. By the way, the owner is almost always there to answer any questions... very knowledgeable and super nice. I never miss going in the store when in San Antonio to check for new items. Beautiful gift wrapping available to. Check this place out for yourself... you will not be disappointed!

I have jewelry, art, beautiful glass pieces and more. My favorites from there are the NATIVITY ORNAMENTS, Nativities from other Countries, collectors 12 days of Christmas. All just great as gifts or something for you. The owner is one of a few in SA to make specialized molds for ornaments that are unique to our town. They are so great! The owner is phenomenal and so kind. This should definitely be on everyone's list when they hit downtown!

I am totally in love with the art scene in San Antonio at the present! There is a Do it Yourself…read morevibe and a polished art community coexisting simultaneously in the city. With galleries like The High Wire Arts, that feeling is definitely consummated. It is a commune of artists, if you will, who create both compelling and intellectually stimulating works. The gallery is located right across the street from The Josephine Theater. There is some parking in front of the spot, but you might have to park further down and walk here. The outside facade is quite amazing. There are sculptures that surround it; a sight to behold when they are lit up at night. Since I went there for a fundraising function they did charge a nominal entrance fee, $3.00 or by donation. But with admission they did offer catering by an Indian eatery. Inside the place was filled with all types of people to include, hipsters, burnout hippies, squatters, suit and tie types, musicians, writers, etc. White sleek walls were filled with ultra affordable art. I spotted a lady painting a complex piece, while a dog was resting a few feet away from her. The space itself is a mix of light and darkness. For example the front part has a use of brightness, in conjunction with white walls that lends to the pieces being displayed. Along the corridors there are dark corridors hidden by shadows that have rooms where new works are being made. Other rooms in the gallery have specific areas where patrons congregate and converse. In one of the rooms a DJ, an acoustic player and a Hare Krishna avatar were utilizing the same art space. I liked the vibe of this room, with swirling lights straight out of a Andy Warhol studio. It created an esoteric, unearthly vibe. My only critique of this gallery is the overplaying of light and darlk to the hilt. In some of the corridors it would have been nice to see a tad more light beeming. But than again each room and space had its own vision and narrative. Some of the art is mindblowing. To see the use of everyday things like leaves and teabags reimagined into canvases for dialogue was certainly not lost on me. The High Wire Arts Gallery is the perfect spot to play to the assets of this city, which has always been art and music. It is a bit hipster but not pretentious. It has a glow of its own that gives it purpsoe and a sense of urgency. I want to go back and see the teabags with the tiniest of etchings. Maybe it is saying that we need to examine things more closely before we make an absolute judgement. Maybe it is just a teabag with intricate etchings.
