First, Do you like your beer icy cold or cool? IF you like it really cold, this is not the place for you. Food took awhile even though we were the only customers, but when it came, it was excellent. The garlic and parmesan cheese won the meal for us. Service was good, music was nice and classic rock. Seating inside and outdoor has a nice patio with umbrellas on a wooden deck. Location is cozy, eccentric. Nice to eat and stroll alittle. Free parking lot shared with other retail stores and eateries, this is also placed along the river. Great to hang out especially if you want to rent some bikes or stroll along the scenic small path.

Ambiance: Local brewery with a patio and indoor dining options. Dog friendly and a great spot for large groups or hanging out on a weekend. The chicken fried chicken was okay - not the best but decent! Their beers were okay as well. They didn't have the biggest selection/options IMO but the service was decent and we had a nice time. Parking onsite - does get crowded!

The 2 beers we got were great and the cherry limeade made with their guyser beer was delicious. I won't lie that I was disappointed in the food scene here. We order the rueben, which was flavorful but extremely tough. I'm not one to complain about fat trimming on a meat like this but it definitely could have used a bit. The bread was stale as you can probably tell by the pic. The fish & chips... I mean the fries were good. The fish/breading had no seasoning to it. The batter/breading also fell completely off when he took the first bite -- as someone who fries fish often, they must've meant the fish was probably not dried off before breading or they didn't let it sit before frying.

Came to eat on First Friday and we were able to get seated really quickly. The waitress was fast and super attentive. At the table we had chicken strips, wings, a burger and the fish and chips. All the food was great. The location is small but fun. Can't wait to come back!

This is a return visit to Blue Star Brewing. We were in the mood for Craft Beer along with Fish & Chip. This place hit the mark. Our server Eleanore is very sweet and energetic. She made our visit very nice. The atmosphere is casual with a rustic / artistic vibe. There is seating both inside and out but in this heat, inside is great. Fun Fact: if you like the brew you had with lunch you can purchase a Growler and have it filled to go. As Always - Eat In Good Health.

the food and beer is amazing! Great location in southtown, the sandwiches are the best.

Was excited to try food and beer at this brewery in Southtown. It's a great location! So that's what it's got going for it. Service was not good either. Our server took a while to take our order and we had to wait awhile, and then after we got our order, our server didn't really come by to check up on us. We had to wait and wave them down to get a water refill, I wouldn't recommend the food. Fries were not crispy and super bland. The sandwich was mediocre. Wished there was more pastrami. There was only a layer or two of meat but usually places stack it. The German plate was pretty sad. The beers we got were mostly sours. If I am in the area, I'd come back to try more beers but I probably won't get food next time. If you're in the area and wanting a drink, I recommend it. But if you're wanting food, I would recommend going elsewhere

Just had their beers. IPA was quite meh. Fruit sour (raspberry) was solid. Cool space. Great service. Just need to up their brew game (the entire state does). Same owner as bike shop nearby. Great bike shop! Rented a townie and did a mission tour.

Blue Star won't be a first choice for beer or food unless you're in the area. That doesn't make this brewery a bad option, it's just a perfect okay one. The beers are all pretty standard and inoffensive. They're great if you're with your dad or just need a drink after a run. Get a flight and you'll see what I mean. The food is your typical bar food - lots if fried things and many shades of beige. The best thing about Blue Star Brewing is the service. The waitress I had was one of the best ever and made sure I was taken care of and thought of. The bartender was also almost at that level. They deserve all the praise. Be sure to check out events here as they do lots of fun outreach programs and they even host astronomy nights! Parking will be a pain. If you don't parking in the Blue Star parking lot, drive half a block east and you'll find free street parking.

Try them all and find what you like! I really liked the sours! Sit at the bar for excellent service.

Come for the brews stay for the food. Went in a relatively quiet night. IPA's are always great and so are the nachos. Today we had dinner as well. Service was great, parking is a challenge.

Service was prompt, and the ambiance is a funky cross between a bakery and a diner. Parking is easy in their private lot. I first tried their 'Texas Style' pastrami Reuben sandwich. This is smoked pastrami brisket, served with on their house-made marbled rye and topped with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and garlic aioli. Quite a bit different than a NYC-style sandwich. The aioli instead of dressing, thicker slices, etc etc. But wow, did it taste good. It's as if a pastrami Reuben and a sliced smoked brisket sandwich had a love child who inherited the best from each parent. I also tried their salmon gravlax on an 'everything' bagel. This bagel was baked in-house, topped with the cured salmon, cream cheese, tomato, red onion, capers, and a sprig of dill. Rustic, beautiful, and delicious. Definite recommend! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. I think the reason I didnt "love" the pizza is because its so different with the sourdough base and not what i am used to. I would like to return and try a sandwich or something else on the menu. Service was fast and friendly, and the place was clean and welcoming. My main reason for trying out wild barley was because they have sour beers, it wasnt the best sour beer i have ever had, but i have noticed in Texas the sour beers have a strange taste to them that i cant quite put my finger on. Overall though it was refreshing and cold. my husband really enjoyed the cider. We will be back and i hope after trying something different on the menu to change my review to 5 stars,
