It had been a long day culminating with laying off people so we just wanted to chill with a beer and some food so decided to head here! It was a lovely evening so we sat outside on the outdoor patio which was just perfect! We tried a couple of their IPAs and two appetizers - the Artichoke and Goats cheese dip which was fantastic and the nachos! Beer was good, food was good and it's priced right! The only issue was the service at end - we sat with empties for 20 minutes trying to flag down someone to pay, even the family behind us tried to help and get the servers attention! Then when we did get the bill there was no pen to sign so it just took forever! It seemed there was only one server so it would just make more sense if they used something like Toast Tab so you could order and pay from an app - I bet they would get more refills that way too and free up tables as well simply sat there waiting to pay which killed that fun experience! read more

it was our first warm day in a while and we went on a dog walk. The dogs were very happy to be in the shade and the humans were starving. Freetail was the right decision since it's so close to Eisenhower. My friend and I split a large pizza and I was stuffed. The servers are still very nice and the patio is very chill. The beer here is good, not great. The vibe is that of a bright, loud, sportsbar. They were out of the 401k, which is the reason I made a special trip out to this brewery. (I double-checked their website before taking a Lyft out). It was on the menu, and then I was informed they were tapped out, such a bummer. I wish servers would open up with what they are out of. I have been going to Freetail for close to 15 years, now. I used to consider this one of the best pizza places in the city. The beer was exceptional, as well. The nose dive in quality seems to really have picked up pace over the past year or so. It's close to my office and home so I do stop in every so often but am left disappointed each time - whether it's beyond wilted lettuce in a salad, caprese with mozerella that has the consistency and taste of rubber, or pizza that seems just sort of sloppily thrown together, it's been sad to see this place go in the direction that it has. And the beer... there are some staples that they continue to deliver on, like La Muerta, Bat Out of Helles, Velicohopter, and others, but... there are some that just miss a mile wide right - I tried something different, a rice lager, which I usually enjoy, and it had the aftertaste of leaving the plastic wrapper on something you'd cook in the oven. I'll keep drinking the beer because it's convenient and continue to hope the food gets better, but I'd expect to see this place close its doors within at most a few years with the competition moving into town. As for the pizza we got (half pepperoni and half bbq brisket), it was like they found a supplier of canned brisket chunks and just dumped it in a pile in the middle and said, "yeah that seems ok." read more

This place is always a good time. It's got plenty of space and the staff are great. Unfortunately, they were working with half a license and couldn't serve ciders, mead, or wine. I enjoyed the chicken nachos and the Hawaiian pizza, but would prob skip the Greek pizza next time. My son didn't leave any of his pretzel - so that was good. The turnaround on food was short ... and tg food came out fast. No wings!?!?!? I had a flight of beers, and it was okay. The stout was definitely stouty, and the amber was pretty good. The flights are a good idea if you don't know what you like, but you risk getting 4 that you want to try and not like any. We tried Freetail for the first time on 12/30/2024 with a party of three at about 6pm. We sat on the outside patio. The patio is a great place in nice Texas Weather, and tonight was nice. Our server was friendly and was checking on us throughout the evening. We started with the Pretzels, which came with Mustard and Cheese/Queso and it was delicious. I had the Ribeye Cheesesteak sandwich. It was solid, it was yummy. It was not a Philly Style Cheesesteak; however, still good. Overall, the evening was great. Freetail was one of my "lost breweries " due to a destroyed phone. Good thing physical notes were recovered from the beer experience to make a review about the beer I had. It nearly became lost again as it slipped my mind but good thing I caught as of now I am going to commit myself to making a review. The beer that Steve and I had was the La Muerta, a stout. Flavor features with this beer are roasty, a kind of tobacco flavor and sweet. The beer is light bodied and smooth which is nice. I have mixed experiences with stouts. Some I am really into and other times it's just okay. This beer just kind of hit me on the fair side but it is what it is. read more

I went to Freetail for the first time this past weekend with a group of friends for dinner and drinks. I don't drink much beer and was a bit disappointed to learn that all of their ciders were canned and not on draft. Regardless of it being canned, I ordered a pineapple cider that I saw inside (but wasn't shown on the menu). For dinner, our group decided to split an order of the chips & queso along with three medium pizzas (the greek, the meathead and the supreme batastrophe). The supreme was my favorite as it's the usual pizza I would order, but the Greek and meat head were also very good (fun to try something different). I did think the prices were a bit high for the size of pizza you get. As for the chips & queso, it was good and came with salsa which is nice. For me, the salsa was too spicy but I also have a low tolerance for spice. I liked the atmosphere of the outdoor area and the service was great. read more

We are from out of town but go here 1-2 a year with our grandkids and their parents. Always have a good experience. A beer for any taste and the food is quite good, much better than the average bar/pub. The pizza is good, the sausage has a little spice as does the chili. The young girls love the pretzels ( good mustard as well) along with the Mac and cheese and the pizza. Whenever we are in town we have to come here for lunch. read more

This review will really be a sh*t sandwich. Good bad good. My bartender was really great. He was super busy, but he kept clearly making time for me. Never let me sit with an empty glass for more than a few moments, kept my water cup full, and remembered my order every time. I'm not convinced the pizza here ever comes out hot. It kind of has a look of pizza that's just always cold. I ordered the BBQ chicken and added banana peppers. Nowhere near enough sauce on this pizza. Not a ton of toppings. Overall, for the pizza alone, I give it a 4/10. A big party came in behind me, got their pizza and it was somehow already cold? The atmosphere was great! Plenty of TVs to watch games or shows or whatever you're in the mood for. I love the open bar area into the patio. And to top it all off, I had some really good beers here. I wish I had remembered to write a review immediately after my visit, but life got in the way. The venue is enormous and really spacious. It definitely felt like the tables were fairly well spaced apart, which is nice. We did sit in a table near a strange air freshener which got really obnoxious after a while (it was one of those automatic ones that would go off every ten minutes or so and it was really strong). If I'm ever steered in that direction again, I'll object! That didn't ruin my pizza and beer experience though. I tried the San Antonio Pale Ale and La Muerta Tattersall. Both were on point. We started with the house salads which were were full of fresh, crisp veggies and served with dressing on the side. We then went with the meat head pizza which was crispy and hot and definitely loaded with a whole lot of meat. It's great and if that's what you like, it's perfect! It was a bit much for me, but I'm not going to knock any stars because they give the people what they want! 10/10. I am looking forward to coming back! read more

I saw Austin Eastciders beer and knew I wanted to get that. Recently, I had had the Austin Eastciders Sangria and really enjoyed that so I knew the others would be good as well. At Freetail, I had the blood orange one while a coworker got the pineapple one. Some of my coworkers truly like beer and had ordered a whole variety. One coworker got the blackberry beer (I'm forgetting the brand name) but I had tried a sip of this and would get it the next time I stop by. Another good visit at the FREETAIL. The pizza and beer was fantastic as per usual. The only cons I have for this visit was my waitress "Andrea". For the most part she did her job but she wasn't very friendly or personable. Idk if it's because I was a party of 1 or what. I was there to watch USA vs. MEX Women's match. She didn't know whether or not they could show it and it took 3 staff to find out after I told them what station. I guess they don't know how to search cable lol.
