We were staying at the hotel and decided to grab a small bite before heading to the arcade. The lounge is located on the bottom floor next to the water. Paul was our server, and he was great. We ordered a Watermelon Lemon Drop and a Guava Sour. The Watermelon Lemon Drop was really good and sweet and the Guava Sour was made with Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, so it had a smoky flavor. I'm not usually a fan of smoky drinks, but it was decent, especially with the tajín rim. For food, we ordered the Marriott Burger. That was really good! I devoured it before even thinking about taking a picture! Later that night, after swimming, we came back around 10:35 p.m. (just before last call at 10:45) and ordered a late night snack. We ordered Buffalo and barbecue wings and truffle fries. Fries were a very large portion. Overall, food and service was great. Would definitely return. read more

Seating is nice. We had couple of appetizers and it was good. Expensive tho. Seems everything in Palm Springs is expensive.

When visiting/staying the JW marriot Palm Desert, this was an excellent bar to get a nice drink and app. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the view so much we came back the next day. Very polite staff as well who were knowledgeable about the hotel. Ps. Don't skip the shrimp cocktail or calamari! They were both fabulous!! read more

Ended here cuz Rockwood Grill was not open till 5pm. We had 30 minutes to kill so we decided to start our dinner here by ordering appetizers and salad to start. We were very surprised when all our orders came out. They were plentiful, beautifully presented and delicious! Our favorite was the ahi poke but all was equally delicious and filling. Calamari was crunchy and plentiful. The mushroom flat bread was as big as a large pizza. It was a surprise and delicious to have thin sliced asparagus; a first for me to try it on a flat bread (or pizza). We were very full but yet had room for chocolate ice cream for dessert. Unfortunately we were too full to continue at Rockwood Grill for dinner. We had plenty of leftovers and looking forward to have them for late night snacks tonight! Looking forward to coming back one more time before we end our vacation to try other items in menu. read more

This restaurant was chill with live music and had very friendly customer service. We ordered the burger with fries and although it was busy in the evening on a Saturday, we didn't wait too long for our food. Burger could've had a bit more flavor but it was great nonetheless. read more

Decent little bar area. More lounge-like seating than a restaurant setting, if that's your style. They have a good spread of booze choices on the wall/shelf. The food menu is basically the same as the Rockwood Grill, so I assume they share a kitchen. You still have a view of the manmade lake if you look out the window. Plenty of TVs if you're interested in the sports programming they have up. Service is good, both from the hostess, to the server to the bar. Everyone was friendly. read more

The worst! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I requested the burger I ordered to be well done, no cheese, lettuce or tomatoes on my daughter burger due to food allergies and it was on there so I took it off just so she can eat because it was already 10pm. I then cut the burger and it's not well done as requested. It was no where near well done so at this point I'm fed up and just want a refund because by the time another burger is cooked my wings would've been cold! The manager tells me I have to wait a couple of business days but yet it was already taking out of my account. I've worked retail and him refunding me cash shouldn't have been a problem! Another server was standing at the counter rolling her eyes as if she had a problem because I wasn't satisfied. I was waiting on her to say something because she would've been out of job! This is one the better restaurants at the JW Marriott. It is adjacent to the Rockwood Grill, so you have the benefit of ordering from either menu. I actually prefer the simple Bar Bites menu of the Lounge ... of which I sampled a few times. Some of my favorites were the Pulled Pork Sliders and the Short Rib Tator Tots. Note ... Please make sure your let them bring you a loaf of bread to begin your meal. It will spoil your appetite a bit, but it is worth it. Served with an herb butter the warm bread is SO good. There is also a Gluten Free option which my wife loved! Of course, part of the charm of this place is the location ... set on the man made pond which weaves through the property. So make sure you get a seat outside to enjoy the views and resort atmosphere. read more

After a friendly convo with the Barterer Cirilo, he hits my boyfriend and I with a $104 bill for 2 drinks. It would have been nice if he gave us a disclosure that the drinks were $50 a shot. It was located just beyond the main lobby of the JW Marriott down a set of dramatic stairs. Came here for breakfast and got a pond side table. My bacon and eggs selection was huge. Coffee came in a thermos jug. Service was prompt but not intrusive. A nice place to go. read more

Jose is the greatest bartender in Blue Star Lounge. He has the best michelada ever made at the JW Marriott inside the Rockwood Grill. We checked to the hotel this morning. We come here every year and we love this place and this reading is in no way a reflection of the hotel and the other staff. We always have had the best customer service but today we ran into a horrible employee and person. We went to go have breakfast at the Rockwood Grill and there was a wait so we went to go grab a drink in the bar next-door. There's a lot of people out there that were waiting for seating and when we sat at the bar the bartender told us they were closed and couldn't service. He asked us to move to a bar table. We then noticed other patrons going up to him ordering their drinks and being served. I thought they were closed! When I went to go ask the bartender, Hector why he was serving others and not us he told me he was only serving drinks. I responded, " that's all we wanted was drinks" his response was rude and then was complaining to other patrons that walked up that he had to serve them now since people were complaining about him. Well the view is so pretty at night as you sit by the lake. The palm trees, the lights, the gondolas that come by and hopefully a few breezes that hit on those hot summer nights. The service has always been top notch. The food menu has some great appetizers that we live to try. You cannot go wrong. It's all delish! Prices are okay. A bit more on the $$ side but you're at a nice resort & great service & great food makes it worth my $pending money. If you can't stand the evening warm weather you can also sit inside, which we have done before as well. Is air conditioned & very cool. Big windows to a pretty view as well. This particular night we sat outside & had delicious mini tacos & we both had hot wings. These wings were spicy with the rating of 5 ( for my husband who loves hot spicy food) & I gave it a 7 ( I love a little spicy little hot) but these wings were the perfect hotness & they were delicious! Not dripping greasy, not under done or dry, just right. We will be back next time we come to JW Marriott ;) read more

Came here during our stay at the JW Marriott resort in Palm desert and had a light bite to eat to kill time before going on our gondola/boat ride. They offer complimentary tapas bites to hotel guests between 4-6 pm, which is a great way to lure people into ordering something else off the menu once they take a peek. They also have a happy hour with reduced prices on beer and wine. I ate the complimentary tapas bites, which included marinated mushrooms, beets, tomatoes with cheese and some kind of salsa. This was a meager selection, so my boyfriend and I decided to split some tacos as well. These were actually perfect to share-come with 3 large tacos. Meat selections included pork carnitas, steak and shrimp. Shrimp and steak were delectable-there was a light creamy sauce with cilantro and chopped onion and I gobbled it up quickly. I was not expecting for them to have such good tacos as bar food. They also have sliders, bacon wrapped dates, other appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and various bar food as well as full bar. The view is gorgeous of the lagoon and the water and the location is adjacent to the Rockwood Grille. I would definitely stop by here again if I return to the hotel. read more

Blue Star Lounge Rocks! Comfy chairs, living room relaxed atmosphere. We caught a show by an awesome bluesy rhythm and rock piano player named Lele Rose. She took requests and rocked the house. For a show that is basically the price of a drink at the bar, it rivals Vegas! We just booked a trip back to the Desert for Thanksgiving weekend and learned that she is performing that weekend at Blue Star!!!! Can't wait! The Rockwood Grill next to Blue Star has a great buffet and it'll be our first Thanksgiving rockin' and rollin' at the JW. The view is gorgeous, the entertainment is superb.
