We have lived here for over 10 years and we never really thought about going to this restaurant for some reason? My husband was downstairs buying some clothes and the sales person was really friendly and asked us if we'd ever been upstairs and we said no, and they kind of chuckled. We went upstairs and we had the best experience. We have been back probably five times in the last three months and the food is delicious. The service is great. The ambience is amazing and I always think of that poor restaurant that everyone has to walk by to get to the Tommy Bahamas restaurant and it's never busy. I think when you have such a great restaurant like Tommy Bahamas next to you, any restaurant will suffer a bit. The ambiance and service is really nice. It's a very pretty and picture worthy place, located on top of the Tommy Bahama store. It gives Hawaii vibes with its decor and music, and made me miss Hawaii for sure....But the price for the mediocre food was just ok. I got the chicken Benedict, the chicken was moist and it was served on Hawaiian bread, but the sauce and the slaw just didn't pair well, and the Benedict on the side was just weird, too many flavors that did not mix well. The potatoes they gave also were flavorless and super hard, it needed more time in the oven. Kinda disappointing. My husband got the ahi tuna poke bowl. The presentation was nice just like the chicken Benedict but the amount of tuna versus the rice and everything else was not a good ratio. The flavor was good tho. There is a kids menu, and the chicken tenders were good but there was no option for the chicken tenders just fruit which was weird bc they had fries for the burger option. I've been here once before but that was a while back. This location is way bigger in size compared to the other location in downtown Palm Springs. Both have retail that's next to it. Palm Desert retail is below while Palm Springs is right next door. Both have access to restaurants and retail. This location has a decent size dining room and a pretty big covered patio that wraps around. At first we thought that we would have to check in with the hostess for a seat at the bar but found out that we didn't as someone else just walked right up. It was the start of happy hour which was the reason for the visit. Just wanted a drink and maybe a light bite. There was 2 seats that were available at the bar which was perfect timing as when we got seated, a few other people walked in but ended up just ordering drinks while waiting for a seat to open up. Happy hours from 3-5 which I feel like loads of people come for it. They offer a couple dollars off of starters, wine and beer. For small bites, 5.00 sliders and 6.00 fish tacos. Limited but a little discount on the starters. We had a glass of wine which was 4.00 off with the HH. Of course with that, something to munch on was needed. Clearly they're known for the coconut shrimp starters which we were informed by the bartender. And from the looks of it, pretty much everyone sitting there had an order. Which was a given for us to get. It came with five shrimp, decent size with a nice glaze sauce and adorned with coleslaw which was quite tasty. Definitely worth it. And the sliders, one each. Wow, I'm not much of a burger person but they were tasty. Cooked perfectly, the meat was juicy and served pretty simple with grilled onions, sauce, a slice of cheese and a slice of pickle on top of the bun. Simple yet very tasty and flavorful. The service was great at the bar. Gentlemen taking care of use was sweet and quite friendly. Seemed like it's a local and regular hangout as he seemed to know everyone sitting there. This place is always a fun spot to stop by when visiting Palm Springs! I sat in the bar and waited for my friends to arrive and had a drink while waiting. The servers are attentive and friendly and service was fast. The ambiance is open-air and coastal with nice decor. We ate lunch on the outside patio and Peter was our server; he was also friendly and very attentive. We shared the coconut shrimp with mango sauce and coleslaw, the guacamole and salsa served with fresh chips. We arrived early for the Happy Hour at Tommy Bahamas and were greeted by a friendly chorus of hellos from the sales staff in the Tommy Bahama store. We walked up the stairs to the restaurant and put our names in at the desk, then waited at a comfy couch! We were texted on the phone just minutes after, and shown to a patio seat. But we learned that the Happy Hour treats were only available for indoor seating, so we opted to eat inside. A lively personable and "new" waitress greeted us immediately and took our drink orders. She also kindly explained the Happy Hour, which features a few bites like beef or pork belly sliders, and Mahi Mahi tacos. It also features all the regular appetizers at $4.00 off the regular price! Our waitress returned with our beverages, which were a lovely Mark Taylor Russian River Sauvignon Blanc for me and a sprightly mix of ginger and lime in a Mocktail for my husband! I love the dry taste of Sauvignon Blanc and am now getting very specific about which region it comes from. We ordered a beef slider and a pork belly slider for my husband and the coconut shrimp and lobster spring rolls for me. It was a bit of a wait until the food came out, but well worth it! The coconut shrimp was as succulent as ever! The shrimp themselves are high quality and the coconut adds just the right touch of nuttiness to the seafood. I am always transported to the islands when I eat this dish! My husband's pork belly slider was perfectly cooked with a generous amount of pork! I love going to Tommy Bahamas because every time you come here the food is going to be amazing and they never miss. But the one thing I have noticed is the service at the Palm Desert location on El Paseo is not as good as the service in the Palm Springs location. Coming into the Palm Desert location we walked up to the host stand and two girls didn't even greet us. They just looked at us and took our name and phone number and said that they would put us on a waitlist no smile or warm welcoming. On the other hand our server a nice lady seemed to be training a new hire as she was explaining him how to take the order and showing them how to place discounts on the app. We sat outside as well and it was very nice and loved the live music too. One thing that also happened was I set up my app and got a $10 off coupon and they said they would apply it and once I got the check and paid; it was never applied. I am not sure what had happened. Drink orders were taken and the drinks delivered, followed by food orders. It was great that all 8 meals came out at once, so no ackward wait for a few dishes to come out. The food was quite good and fit the island theme close enough. The Cioppino was fantastatic, with really nice muscles, clams, fish, and a spicy tomato broth. We went to Tommy Bahama on El Paseo on a Wednesday night at 5:30. We waited for about 45 minutes and were seated outside. I haven't been to this restaurant for a long time so I was impressed by the outdoor patio build out they have now. Heaters and fans are both available above the tables plus some louvered shades. We ordered the Lamb Skewers as a starter, they were tasty although the meat was ground, and they were smaller than expected. The sauce and cucumber salad were nice accompaniments. For Entrees we ordered coconut shrimp and chicken tortilla soup, lump blue crab and avocado salad, and filet mignon salad. The coconut shrimp was good, while not very coconut forward, the salads were both phenomenal with very unique flavors, although the favorite was the lump crab salad. The caper lime vinaigrette was delicious! One disappointment- as of November they no longer have bread and their cinnamon butter. read more

We were a group of 6, we had simple orders that were specified very thoroughly yet somehow things were messed up. I ordered regular coke with ice I was delivered a Diet Coke with barely any ice. That already threw me off... I orders the burger asked for extra aioli, the brought the burger and never the aioli so I can add it in there. Not to mention I wanted tomatoes and they didn't put tomatoes. Pretty much what I wanted they did the complete opposite. Not to mention it tasted bad and none of us finished our food. This was suppose to be our last stop in palms before we hit the road and I was nauseous the whole 3 hours back. Went on a busy Saturday night to celebrate a birthday but didn't have to wait too awful long. We enjoyed a couple mai tais from the bar while we waited around 30 minutes for a table for two. We sat outside on the giant patio and although it was chilly there's plenty of heaters and it was comfortable. The server was great and very attentive. My lump blue crab cakes were spectacular served with asparagus and some island slaw and my sister really enjoyed her baby back pork ribs with slaw and mashed potatoes. Went to have lunch today. It was a 20 to 30 minute wait. It was very packed for lunch. So we decided to sit at the bar. I was surprised they didn't have the patio open considering it was a nice 90° day. We were definitely looking forward to sitting out there. The bartender was attentive and service was very quick. My Apreol Spritz was perfect! He suggested the coconut shrimp, and it was very good, but the coleslaw it came with was amazing! So flavorful and fresh. I ordered the Cuban sandwich, which was very good, but I couldn't finish it after I Bit into a bone! which cut the inside of my mouth and thankfully didn't crack my very pricy crown. My daughter ordered the chicken sandwich, and it was very good. She ended up giving me half of her sandwich. I've never had a bad experience there, but I know I won't be ordering the Cuban sandwich again. Great place to eat, I wish they would offer reservations at this location. This used to be our go-to restaurant whenever we visited Palm Desert, but unfortunately our last two visits have been very disappointing. Today's lunch with family and friends was especially frustrating, and everyone left unhappy. The kids' sliders were burnt on both ends, and the chicken was overcooked and even contained a long hair. We were served appetizers without any plates and had to get up and ask for them ourselves. We also ordered three appetizers, but only two arrived. When we asked about the missing appetizer, we were told it would come out later because the other family in our party had ordered it. That explanation made no sense. Appetizers should be served together regardless of which members of the party ordered them. To make matters worse, when we requested separate checks, we were told the restaurant could not accommodate that request. We have dined here many times in the past and have never had an issue receiving separate checks, so this was surprising and frustrating. The waiter just gave us the option to split the check evenly on two cards which is not helpful since one family spent far less than the other. Apparently the food could be separated by family, but the bill could not. Service throughout the meal was poor. We were never offered additional cocktails or soft drink refills until we had already finished eating. Dirty plates sat on the table for an extended period of time, attracting multiple flies and creating an unpleasant dining experience. It's disappointing because this restaurant was once one of our favorites, but after two consecutive poor experiences, we're finding it difficult to justify returning. read more

The tuna was silky & melts in your mouth & goes perfect with Island slaw. After waiting more than 30 minutes, the sea bass arrived completely burned on the bottom -- black, dry, and clearly hidden by placing the burned side face‑down. When I showed it to the server and he just tried to bring another one with a careless attitude. For a restaurant that claims to be a top brand, this was extremely disappointing. But now you've taken things too far. First my pork belly sliders. Then my Cubano sandwich. And now--now--my ahi tuna Cobb salad. What did I do to deserve this? Did I complain too loudly? I must say the restaurant just never seems to disappoint me, friendly greetings from the hostess to many seating selections and a view of the mountains while feeling like you're on a tropical vacation. It was so wonderful to be able to go to a place that reminded me of Hawaiian cuisine. I am usually very picky about coconut shrimp. The batter can have a bit more coconut though as an improvement and larger shrimp. Everyone at the table loved all their selections and cocktails. I had a coffee but it was very weak it took so long to get so I missed drinking it with my pina colada cake! Apparently something wasn't working right with the coffee maker. They should have told me prior instead of bringing me watered down coffee. Communication is so important and it represents building trust and respect with the customer. We dined last night and had Lobster Rolls as our appetizer. I chose the coconut Shrimp with slaw as an Entree, and my hubby had the 1/2 portion of the Baby Back Ribs with Blackberry brandy BBQ sauce, a side of Yukon Mashed potatoes and slaw. This is one of my fave restaurants in Palm Springs. The food is always good and I love the tropical, summer-y vibe. Here's what you need to know... Parking. Free parking in the structure behind the building (shaded and much better than street parking). Once you park, walk to the front and take the exterior escalators up to the restaurants. Reservations. They don't take them so plan on a short, to a not-so-short wait if you go at peak times. There is a small waiting area just inside the door with seating for about ten people. You can also wait at the bar but the bar is small and there is rarely room to sit at it. Ambiance. If you have Tommy Bahama clothing, this is the place to wear it (you'll see lots of people wearing their shirts and dresses which you can purchase at the store downstairs). The vibe is a fun and summery. Think upscale Jimmy Buffett and people tend to sit at the bar, drink pretty coconut drinks and craft beer for hours on end. There's an indoor area as well as an outdoor patio. The patio has misters so unless it's really hot and uncomfortable, choose the patio. Menu. Not a huge selection, but something for everyone. On this visit, I had the steak salad which is one of my go-to's. It's delicious and even though I'm one of those annoying people that usually customizes my order, this one I get just like it's made. Nothing to improve upon. My husband had the chicken sandwich and fries, and my dad had the crab bisque (delicious!) and ahi tacos (note that this is poke (not seared tuna) and they come in wonton taco shells, not flour or corn. Also delicious, but if you're expecting something more traditional, you may not want them. The coconut shrimp appetizer is another one I tend to order a lot. I don't think you can go wrong. I've never had anything here I didn't like. You should ask for bread-- it's free but they don't seem to bring it anymore unless you ask. The cinnamon butter is soooo good. Service. Great on this trip and usually very good. Never had to ask for refills. Email Subscription. So one thing to note, if you sign up for their loyalty club with your email, they send you $50 off $100 coupons once a year (at least at the time of this review) which is a fantastic deal. Prices. Cocktails are about $20 each, entrees are about $22 - 40 each and appetizers are around $17 - 25. For the quality of the food, level of service, and the environment, I find the prices to be good. read more
