It was my wife's birthday and we were enjoying the weekend in Palm Desert. I decided to make reservations at LG's Prime Steakhouse in La Quinta. The restaurant was busy on Saturday night and we were seated in a large comfortable booth facing the bar. The sommelier, Alex, introduced himself and I ordered a split of Elouan Pint Noir for $20. I thought it was very tasty and at a great price. He didn't make me feel like a hump either by ordering a modest wine. Our waiter, Rolando, provided exceptional service all night long. He was really great and very professional. The wife ordered The Garden Farm Red & Greens ($16) that was one of the tastiest salads we've had in recent memory. Red radicchio, baby arugula & Belgian endive, candied walnuts, dried cherries, Asian pear, applewood smoked bacon, goat cheese crumbles, vanilla honey essence and dressed in a marvelous champagne vinaigrette. It was delicious with many different textures and flavors. The wife ordered the 8 oz. Filet Mignon ($65) and I went with the 16 oz. NY Steak ($70), with a loaded baked potato ($13) sautéed mushrooms ($14), and a side of peppercorn sauce ($6). Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. Rolando treated my wife to a wonderful chocolate brownie for her birthday dessert. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner together and were impressed with the entire dining experience. What a pleasant surprise. I expected that we would have a good experience and food at LG, but I was not prepared for the fantastic level of service, the variety and quality of their menu and the relaxed and welcoming ambience provided by this fantastic restaurant. Our party of nine was as well taken care of, as a party of two and our rather diverse party of nine with our various split plates and other menu related requests would have proved difficult for most restaurants, but not for the great people here at LG who amazingly took care of our group with a level of friendliness and patience that I cannot recall seeing in a restaurant previously. The food quality from the hot bread, crisp salads, amazing hot seafood, platter, prime steaks, excellent wine and the multiplicity of side dishes was of the highest level. I can't keep enough praise upon Freddie, our very experienced and expert server. He handled our party with grace and courtesy and took care of this at every return. We drove out to Coachella to drop off a package to some friends and decided to grab dinner last minute. Everything was basically closed, but we stumbled upon this steakhouse that closed at 10 PM. We called them at 9:10 PM and asked if they would still set us, and they said they would still be serving until 9:45 PM. We arrived at 9:30 and was met with the best staff! We were nervous, trying to rush to place our orders before the kitchen closed, however, our amazing waiter told us not to worry, and to take our time. Even though they would be closing soon, each staff member took exceptional care of us to make our experience wonderful! We had a glass of red wine, which our waiter recommended the Brody on the list of red blends, and it was smooth and fruity. For appetizers, we ordered the oysters on half shell (8/10). They were shucked and cleaned very well, not fishy at all, however, we wish the presentation was nicer and they had better choices of toppings for flavor. We also had the escargot (10/10), which was made with a light lemon garlic butter sauce. I've never had escargot taste so light and refreshing, the sauce was well balanced and delicious, we couldn't stop dipping the garlic bread into it. And of course, we ordered the table side Caesar salad that was prepared by our chef and the dressing was handmade with fresh Parmesan and anchovies (9/10). For our meal we shared the tomahawk steak, cooked medium rare to perfection, with our sides being the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. I would give the tomahawk a 9/10, because it could've used more salt, however, that's probably just a preference. The garlic mashed potatoes had these small pieces of garlic chunks that felt like delicious little treasures in each bite. And the asparagus were perfectly crispy and cooked all the way through. We almost didn't order desserts because we felt bad that the staff was staying late, however, our waiter took the time to bring out the entire platter of dessert options to present them to us. We went with the crème brûlée topped with fresh berries, and a couple of cappuccino's. They have a wide array of desserts and the one we chose was perfect. The entire experience was very pleasant and we are so grateful to the staff that stayed over to serve us and provide a pleasant experience. We even noticed that they continue to bring in more customers even after 9:45 PM and still took the time to seat them and serve them. The third time the server shoved my glasses out of his way to make room for the pastry tray, I might have unintentionally displayed some disgust on my face. The first time, when he shoved my utensils around the table with a menu, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The second time he put his foot under the table to step on my right foot and push me to the left from his way, sparked enough gusto in me to say, "It's okay, I have another foot." If I am in his way, it would be nice to know before any action takes place. The meal was off. Between the long pregnant pauses of drinks, bread, and salad, there was finally the main course. Who picks up bread plates before the salad is even served? I guess that's how they do it at LG's. The Cesar salad had that old lettuce taste, you know what I mean? That part near the bottom of the stalk that starts to get yellow and signals it's time to give to rabbits and indiscriminate foul. We enjoyed the scalloped potatoes and Brussel sprouts, but if you read through the reviews, so did everyone else. The steaks were average; neither amazing nor poor. If I were a portly young kid waiting for the dessert menu, I would have been disappointed by the sad excuses for desserts. They were neither visually appealing nor explained in a way that made you want to try one. Even my eager sweet tooth was not tempted by these selections, and I am easily tempted. Not an elegant dining experience, if that's what you're searching for. The table could easily have accommodated some butter knives, or at least have been ornamented with quality cutlery. The forks were embarrassing. $850 meal for five people... and I asked myself, was it worth it? Why do I ask myself questions which I know the answer. read more

Our favorite things were the garlic fries, gratin and scallops. My partner's steak was supposed to be medium but was much closer to between rare and mid rare. When I finished my main dish, the waiter took my plate and all of my silverware so I couldn't eat anything else at the table unless I used my hands. Additionally, they skipped our table for bread service. I unfortunately only asked at the very end since it felt odd that a restaurant at this price point didn't have a bread service. Disappointing- with so many outstanding steakhouses in the area- keep driving. I met a friend for a light dinner during the AmEx weekend at LG's. We were seated next to the kitchen - with a folding partition behind us. The partition was nice but the kitchen odors were not appetizing. Ambiance- what may have once been a decent style in early 2000 is looking dated and tired. We started off strong with decent margaritas that we asked for with easy simple syrup, and delicious rolls brushed with simple syrup and sprinkled with salt. I kept seeing giant onion rings come out, so we ordered the wagon wheels, table side Caesar and crab cakes. The Caesar was very dramatic- we appreciated our server's skill at assembling the dish and were hopeful. This is a dish where they make healthy margins- some lettuce, a few anchovies and sprinkle of parm, and $36 later, two VERY petite caesar salads come out. The flavor was underwhelming, no discerning anchovy flavor, and the lettuce was limp. Very disappointing. The crab cakes came out next. They had an odd smell and were very fishy tasting, not in a good way. Mostly mayonnaise and off smelling/ I had one bite and couldn't finish. My friend looked up and said hers tasted off. The server sent someone over and he took them back and we were able to order something to replace them, which we paid for. All in all, very disappointing and underwhelming meal. From the moment we walked in the door, we had nothing but impeccable service. Our waiter was attentive and informative and polite. Every other service person was professional and engaging. There was a cohesiveness amongst all the staff: everyone helping each other and smiling. They looked like they love what they do. Now, the food? AMAZING! I had a filet and wedge salad and they were both prepared to perfection. Additional sides were the sautéed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes: simply fantastic. We stopped in tonight after seeing a wonderful Magic show at Marvyns Magic Theatre in the same complex. Although I frequent this location, the three people with me have never been there before. They were impressed with how nice the interior of the restaurant was and all of us had filet mignon, which we absolutely loved. It almost melted in our mouths. The table side, Caesar salad and French onion soup was delicious as well. Freddy, our waiter, and Adrian, the assistant waiter were especially friendly, one point and professional. My husband and I had inner at LG"s Steakhouse last night for restaurant week. We started off with the mushroom soup as our appetizer. Flavor was good , but it could have been served hotter. We choose the steak entree which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus and added on a side order peppercorn sauce for our steak which I believe was an additional charge of $6.00. Steak was okay, mine was a little chewy. For dessert I chose the nutella tiramisu and my husband chose the cheesecake which was in my estimation a better choice. I also opted for the $10.00 special glass of wine that was offered with our meal. We enjoyed the warm sourdough rolls and butter that was free, which is a plus as today so many restaurants are now charging for bread. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary so we were treated to a piece of chocolate cake with a candle in it which was a delightful addition to our meal. Service was spot on , always asking if our meal was okay and refilling our water glasses whenever needed. The meal and service was amazing. From the time we sat down until the moment we left. First, reservations are highly recommended. Luckily we did for a Sunday night, as the PGA event ended an hour or so earlier, and the place was packed. Sergio was our waiter for the night, with a bevy of support people around us. Water never dried up, as they were that attentive. Dinner started with 1/2 dozen of oysters served with horseradish and cocktail sauce. Go gimmicks to hide the flavor. Delicious. The sourdough rolls were warm and crispy. Whipped butter was great to add. Had two filets, one and 8oz the other 14oz. Both Oscar style with a side lobster tail. Cook was amazing. When you ask for medium rare? That is what you get. I applaud the chef. Medium rare on a 6-8" thick filet is an art. The scalloped potatoes were good, but sure if I would order again. For desert we shared a creamy and whipped cheesecake with strawberries. Not fresh strawberries but cooked down and soft and velvety. Not of the norm will say. The best steakhouse in the desert! First off, the servers and bartenders are the best. Most of them have been there, 10, 20 or 30 years and they get to know you. They know how to pour a steakhouse martini. Not one of these fancy foo foo drinks you get at the trendy high end places, but solid knock you out martinis. LGs is a Palm Desert staple and somewhere I've been eating for 20 years. We go now more out of nostalgia than anything else. When we were young, this was a special occasion place and probably still is for a large number of people. Work dinners have tired me a bit on steak houses, and this is just that it is a steak house. A good steak house. LGs, though, is not without its flaws. The original location had its quirky charm, but this location is just large and sterile. Service can be hit or miss, as is the case with a lot of places in the desert. Overall, if you are looking for a quality steak and steakhouse experience, this fits the bill. OH MY GOODNESS! I am still in shock by the quality of service + quality of the delicious food I experienced tonight. I made reservations at the LG's Prime in Palm Springs, yet accidentally showed up at this location with 4 of my friends to celebrate a birthday dinner. The hostess welcomed us with open arms, and our table was promptly ready for us to be seated. We arrived around 8:15PM so we felt like we didn't have much time to order , however, our sweet server Angelina encouraged us to take our time and enjoy the restaurant. She was sooo patient with us! She and Steven treated us like gold. Our experience was something I will never forget. Now the food.. wow! We all had assortments of steaks, shrimp, brussel sprouts , asparagus and potatos. We all raved about how good the food was . It was absolutely incredible! Hats off to the chef! The overall experience + ambiance + food quality and friendliness of the servers will make it easy to come back. First time going to LG's, and so glad we did not only was the service impeccable. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the ribeye special which was reasonably priced. They did have the baseball game going, but it wasn't loud obnoxious or take away from the setting. We went a little early so there was no one there so we got to enjoy conversation with our waiter who shared with us the legacy of the restaurant and how many of the workers have been there for 20+ years and they're like a family. Steaks were cooked to perfection and were very tender, best filet and ribeye I've had in awhile. Sides were good. Butter cake was a hit, apple pie was okay (a little too much cinnamon for my taste). Okay LG's we see you (insert clapping here). This spot is now up there in one of favorite steakhouse categories. Came here for my birthday and the meal was exceptional. Definitely a 5 star worthy meal from start to finish. I like the LG steakhouse location in La Quinta. It's on the quieter side but still has all of the flair of their larger city locations. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for Christmas and I loved the dark and dim lighting. It's definitely a romantic spot to grab a meal. I love that their bar area was popping and busy, while the main dining hall was more low key. Just how I wanted it for a small birthday celebration. Service was A+. Our waiter was very friendly and sweet. Attentive but not overdone. They did a great job of ensuring our waters were filled at all times and clearing dirty plates almost immediately. Everyone was friendly and made you feel like your patronage was appreciated. We were definitely treated like A listers. Their cocktails here are strong strong. The "margtini" blew my socks off. One drink and I was satisfied. The flavors of the cocktail were just so so but that's more on me, I normally opt for a dirty martini at a steakhouse but just wanted to try something a little different and more girly. The food though was an easy 5 stars. Everyone was super impressed with their meal and we raved compliments all night about the quality of the food. Started with a wedge salad which was delicious. Plenty of dressing how I like it with crispy bacon and some blue cheese. Yum. For my main I went with a ribeye medium rare and it was exceptional. Probably one of the best ribeyes I'd had all year. Cooked perfect and I loved their whipped butter leftover from the bread, I spread some on my steak and was in heaven. The steaks are known here but another at my table got a pork chop and was super content. We all shared a bite off of everyone's main dishes and the fan favorite was my ribeye, probably the right choice if you're on the fence. The meal was luxurious but we couldn't help getting a side of garlic mashed potatoes. Super good and creamy. The whole meal was fantastic and the food lives up to the hype. They sweetly gave me a complimentary brownie for my birthday. A nice gesture. While this a more of a treat type of a meal, it was 100% worth the price point because the food was fabulous, service was great and the ambiance felt very relaxed yet sophisticated. We were a table of four, Victor was our server and Steven was his assistant, they were both wonderful. We had rack of lamb, two herb crusted, chickens, and an 8 ounce fillet. Victor prepared the tableside Caesar salad and it was delicious. Our side dishes included whipped potatoes, loaded baked potato, asparagus, and creamy spinach. One person in our party had crème brûlée, he was a little bit of a pig and didn't share it with anyone except his wife . Fine dining at LG's whenever visiting La Quinta has always been amazing. They have complimentary valet service but yet then again there is plenty of parking all around. The service is always amazing and attentive, I mean you get what you pay for and this place is really on top of their game. The food and sides are delicious, the Mac and cheese side is our favorite as well as the asparagus. I always go for the filet mignon which is cooked to my liking and we also have the ribeye or aged ribeye, all equally delicious. The ambiance is very mood lite and calming. I like that the restaurant takes pride in service and cleans up quickly of discarded plates. read more

Immediately they said because we didn't have a reservation we got sat on the patio in 100 degrees weather. Then they took a half hour to even take our order and then the waiter disappeared, no service! Our food was brought by the kitchen staff then the bartender came out to see if we needed anything which my husband then told him he had been waiting a half hour for steak sauce that he had asked the kitchen staff for and his tomahawk steak was now cold. He told the bartender the waiter disappeared and hasn't been back to the table at all and now he was pissed and just wanted to pay and leave. They comped 3 alcoholic drinks and that's it which for a $300 bill was a shit comp. Never go here again, glad I don't live around there and was only visiting. read more

My father could not even chew his New York steak it was so tough (they ended up comping it very graciously). Two-thirds of my filet was pretty tasty but one third was pretty much all fat.
