My brother and I took our yearly treck to a camping spot we took as a kids. It's just off of Highway 20 near Concrete. We stopped for lunch at the Blue Taco. Great little place in a remote area. I had the lunch combo with steak tacos and my brother had the same combo with chicken. The combo comes with rice and beans. Great flavor, great service. A great little place. The torta here is BOMB! Everything is perfect - delicious pickled onions, jalapenos, crunchy lettuce, something with a yummy taste of oregano, a light queso fresco, all topped with a spicy mayo. All together it is a perfect package and generous sandwich. When I actually order something else, I bet that will also be delicious but I have not been able to say no to the torta!! read more

Blue Taco has moved to Pine Square in Mount Vernon. This area is so underused and underrated. I'm happy Blue is there now! We sat outside and had tacos carnitas- the best I've had in a long time. This is a small, family run business. They are so friendly and care about the quality of the food they serve. Soon they'll have a full liquor license too so you can add on a margarita. They do special La most nights of the week including $1.50 tacos on Fridays. They are also happy to have you call ahead for takeout. Awesome place, go! Had lunch here with my Dad. The waitress was really nice and quick to give recommendations. The enchiladas and Chile rellanos were amazing. The salsa was a little watery and lacked flavor but overall a great lunch. read more

we stopped here on a tuesday, hoping for taco tuesday.....Well, the tacos were a bit more expensive than we hoped, however, we decided on something else on the menu for lunch....The prices were pretty good on the menu, the portions were adequate, the service was good, but the food just wasn't there, it was missing some flavor....However when we eating our meal, there would be bites that were filled with hot spices.... This place, is laid out weird, because it is a motel, but, I am a bit weary about recommending this place, I am on the fence, and I apologize for this.... First time here- new place with interior work finishing up. Bar not yet up and running. We had the carnitas sopitos, and a lunchtime combo plate of an chicken enchilada and a chile relleno. Both were fresh and tasty. A couple of negatives were the beans were more like a soup- few beans with a lot of stock. And the flan. Normally don't order desert for lunch , but with promises of flan greatness- ordered one to share. It came out looking burnt, and it tasted burnt- and not just a little bit. I love flan, I make flan, and flan is ordered frequently. I understand that the carmel may have a slight toasty flavor - but with this one, even the custard was burnt and dry. Disappointment was more on the waitress bragging about how amazing it was then bringing us a flan that even look toasted. I'll put Blue Taco in my rotation- just not as frequently as some of my other favorites. read more

Just don't go, so disappointed and not cheap. Cheese tasted like metal, shrimp was tasteless, margaritas in plastic solo cups.

Tried this place for the very first time after hearing it was a must try and it did not disappoint!! Every single thing we ordered (party of 4- 2 adults and 2 children) was all delicious, portions were huge, and the service was so very welcoming. We drove from about 45 mins away but we will definitely be back when we come into Mt Vernon area. read more

this is the review of the one in lyman washington we drove by and saw that there was a new Mexican restaurant. we looked it up and the reviews were good and the pictures of the food was awesome so we decided to go for a snack to try it out. we got the nachos based on the picture we saw which was fully loaded with tons of cheese. we had to pay 3.25 extra for beef, no problem. when we got the nachos about half of the chips was bare and maybe a 1/2 cup of meat. I'm sorry to say that the beans tasted canned [ dont know if they were canned but tasted canned] the meat had a weird texture as if there was an added filer to them {again not saying that is the case but thats how they tasted and looked] the guacamole was fresh. but every thing needed salt!!! every thing!! i do not normally salt nachos but it was so bland. we both ordered a bottle of beer as their taps were not up yet. me a bohemia and the spouse a dox equis 6.99 a bottle for the bohemia! What??? and 5.99 for the dox equis!!!! We didnt even eat half of the nachos and brought the rest home. then we thru them away. i really wanted to like this place. but on the up side the salsa was killer!!!!! so if you want to eat salsa and chip its for you! read more

When we arrived at the Blue Taco located on Market Street in Mount Vernon, Washington, there was no one other patrons there. We thought that we had hit the jackpot. We had not. We arrived about 2:45 PM and ordered by 3. The chips kept coming, but our meals did not. First off, some of our group of 5 adults and 4 children were not told when they ordered a Pepsi that it would be in a bottle and not a fountain drink, unlike the Sprite that was a fountain drink. The excuse was they hadn't had a chance to refill the Pepsi machine. That couldn't have been mentioned at the time of ordering? When the children's meals were ordered, the only drink that came with their meal was a pop/soda. When asked if there was something else that could be substituted for the kids to drink like apple juice or milk, we were told no, just water, but that did not lower the price of their meals. When we were ordering we were told that their tamales were not available and it would be a while before they were ready. No tamales? Also, when 2 of us were ordering the same dish, they were informed there was no guacamole, which came with their meal ordinarily, was the meal discounted for that, no? Our food finally came 45 minutes after we had ordered it. How was the food? The cheese quesadillas and French fries were cold. Most of our food was barely warm, even though the waitress served it with hot pads, making it appear to be hot. Two of our meals were hot as they came in a molcajete/lava rock dish. We thought about leaving and going somewhere else, but thought for sure our food would be coming any second. By the time it came, we just wanted to eat and leave and never go back. The food had good flavor, but we would have enjoyed it so much more if it had been served in a timely matter and hot. The service was horrible. About 20 minutes after we were there, a couple came in and sat at the bar and about 30 minutes after we were a small family came in. That was it. No other customers were there. Don't go!!! read more

Recently heard of this place and took the time to give it a try. Very disappointing, the city of Mount Vernon does not need another so so Mexican restaurant! First walked in and big sign said 'happy hour 3-6' and because it was 4:30 I asked what was on happy hour. The gal who asked us if we wanted drinks had no idea, she got another server, and she didn't know either. Moving on, we just ordered margaritas and they were very sour and hardly any tequila. We ordered our meals from a BIG menu, but nothing but the standard American mexican food, burritos, tacos, etc...Ordered the Arroz con Pollo. When received food there was hardly any rice, sauce was spread out on a huge plate and the portion altogether was hardly any. May be one mushroom, two pieces of peppers, and a very small amount of chicken. A tiny bunch of lettuce and tomato. Very disappointing. But okay, quantity sometime does no matter over quality. Unfortunately, it was WAY to salty, not edible. Sad because I really wanted this place to be good. Stick with your go to mexican place, there are plenty to choose from. read more
