Drive through tonight and ordered a taco combo. The price was pretty substantial so I was expecting at least three tacos. Got home, openedntye box, two really small tacos, some rice and runny beans. There were some nice cooked veggies on the side but they didn't make up for the tasteless rice and beans. Adding taco sauce only made them hot but didn't add flavor. The tacos were filled nicely with carne asada, they were just small. Three bites per taco and they were gone. For this I paid nearly twenty bucks with a tip, and no drink. I've been wanting to try this place for a while even though it's in the back part of a Shell Station, but if this is the quality and quantity of the food, the taste and value are not there. read more

This is the only mexican restraunt in all of Anatcortes that makes home made corn tortias BY HAND! The little cook is a jewl! And let me tell you those tortias are the absolute Best you will ever have!!!! We have never had a bad meal there! the food is always Wonderful, with great service, and truely pleasent People! We stopped for lunch at this "authentic" Mexican Taqueria wanting seafood. The hostess wasn't very patient or helpful describing the dishes to us non-latinos. My Mojarra was a beautifully presented fish but it was fried so crisply that the flesh was bound to the bones. I had to dig in with my fingers to pick the flesh off the skeleton. Not sure how authentic such an almost cinder- crispy dish is, but I wouldn't order it again -- and there's more flesh in three fish fingers than I managed to claw off this bony fish. Was hungry for Mexican and this place looked good. I wanted everything on the menu but chose the taco and tamal combo and sis ordered the taco combo. She chose chicken and I got an asada taco and pork tamale. I did have a Modela Negra to wash it down. Service was fast and super friendly. Bright welcoming interior. There was a telenovela on one tv and a Mexican concert on the other. Loved it! The food was really yummy. Update: I've now visited 6 times. Place is still really great. I really appreciate the radish and fresh onion, lime and cilantro. The salsa goes well with it. Nice nice tacos. I must give 5 stars because the tacos are so good. My son considers himself a taco expert because he spent a few weeks in mexico city. He says he's never had a carne asada that his liked but LOVED the carne asada tacos here. The meat comes right off the grill. Negatives, the tacos are pretty small for the money, and there's stuff on the menu whose prices make no sense: side of rice and beans is $9?? The taco combo is $13 and is 2 tacos with rice and beans? Doesn't make sense as rice and beans are so cheap to make. The combo plates seem really expensive for what they are. Menu Advice: Last time I was in I noticed that literally everyone else in the place had ordered a dish that was essentially 'build your own tacos'. I can't remember what they called it (maybe "Estrellas Plate"?) but they give you a pile of soft tortillas and a bunch of hot ingredients and you make your own tacos on your own schedule. Wow what a great find. Our local friends told us about Thai amazing spot that serve authentic Mexican right next to the Shell. And they were right! The tacos are just out of this world. We loved the asada. And you have to have it with a Tamarindo soda. We tried it with both corn and flour and they were terrific. But a special shout-out to the burrito. It is not only flavorful but also generous. We loved the way that even our dairy-free version was so tasty and excellent. I was visiting Anacortes for personal business and found myself near Estrellas Taqueria, so I decided to get a bite to eat. I wasn't very hungry, but I can always eat tacos!! So, I ordered two tacos ($2.50 each). I was getting mine to go, so I declined the offered rice and beans on the side. I was asked which variety of protein I wanted with my tacos and I asked for carne asada, because I like beef . Since I declined the rice and beans, my tacos were quite bare. Only beef, cilantro, and onions. However, there was also a seared half jalapeño and some radish slices on the side, along with a lime and both the green sauce and red sauce. As this was my first visit to Estrellas, I took my first bite with just the "bare" taco. No sauce, jalapeño, or radish. I am happy to report that it was a tasty bite . Adding the sauce, jalapeño, and radish made the rest of the taco taste even better. I tried the first taco with the red sauce and found it to be quite spicy. The second taco with the green sauce was not as spicy. Estrellas is located behind the Shell station at the intersection of 14th and Commercial and it's also across the street from the Anacortes Fire Station. If you like Mexican food, give Estrellas a try the next time you're in Anacortes! read more

Today is my first time visiting Taqueria Mis 5 Estrellas. I was greeted immediately upon entry by a friendly staff member. I ordered tacos: adobada, lengua, and tripa, with a side of rice and beans and horchata to wash it down. Tripa in my taco was perfectly crispy and tasted clean and delicious. I ordered another one. Lengua taco had big tender chunks and was perfectly cooked. I ordered another one. Adobada was well seasoned and not too salty. I appreciate that! The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. And the beans were creamy and delicious. Horchata was super delicious. It wasn't too sweet and you can taste bits of rice in it. The meat are well-prepared but NOT fancy. Carnitas aren't listed on the menu but they made the effort to put there roasted pork on the flat top an I enjoyed a Torta de Carnitas. My wife usually orders a tostada and leaves the tortilla base. This time she said it was so good and crisp that she just had to eat in. Ok it's been soooo long since I've had good Mexican food. Like most people, it's all about the tacos. I can eat tacos anytime of the day, every day! They're just the BEST! Lol. I got a carne asada taco and chicken tamal. Both had savory and rich flavors, and great textures. Usually when you get rice a beans, they're dried out and not not that good. Ordered from them from Doordash. Got a chicken tostada and one pork tamale. It was GREAT! The tostada had nice shredded chicken on it and and great mix of toppings. The pork tamale also had shredded meat and it had a lot of breading, but it all was very flavorful - meat and breading. The food was clearly made hot and fresh. I do have to say as one negative the side of rice and beans is pretty small for the price, but the tostada and tamale were worth way more than their sticker price so it all evened out. I am sad to leave this review today as I have been a customer since this establishment opened. My husband went to go pick up some food for lunch today. We order the same thing most times as we used to have a favorite. Today he very specifically ordered 4 carne asada tacos with no onions, and a carne asada torta. He had used the drive thru so he did not check the order until he got home and we opened up the bag. We had a plate of 4 chicken tacos, a plate of 4 carne asada tacos with nothing but onions on them, and another container of I'm not even sure what but it was NOT a carne asada torta! Very upset my husband went back to the restaurant and back thru the drive thru. He got to the window and tried to explain the issues. At first they were trying to tell him no one there spoke English. We know that to not be true as we have shared stories with many employees in the past, but as soon as there is an issue everyone clams up and pretends they can't help. Finally the message is conveyed that the order is NOT correct and we have been charged for things we did not even order. They said they cannot refund credit cards. So we asked for a cash refund. They said they can't do that either. All they were willing to do is give us something else, which we didn't want or need. That's why we didn't order more to begin with! Unfortunately we left the restaurant over charged, underwhelmed and thoroughly frustrated. We won't be going back again. Their service has been steadily going downhill for awhile now, but for what they charge and the amount of food they give, it's just not worth it anymore. So if you choose to patron this establishment double check your order before leaving the restaurant. Be prepared to pay way more than what the food is worth, and if you have any problems, you may find that everyone no longer speaks English. So Sad. read more
