This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. We ate there last night and it was so disappointing. The restaurant was full of large black flys. The food was terrible...I mean inedible terrible and although there were 3 waitresses working they spent their time chatting at the bar while drinks got warm and food got cold. Great food, cool little town. The fish and chips are pretty damn good. The mixed meat burger is one of the best burgers I have ever had.

The atmosphere and vib is Awesome! The food was good my husband had the Wild burger and my Mother and I had the special Marsala Chicken. It was yummy as well as the Ceasar Salad.... Blue Wing Saloon The beef stroganoff was excellent - all ingredients seemed really fresh. I liked the bean sprouts and mushrooms added. I would have preferred the ribeye cuts to be a little more tender, but I liked the fact that there was adequate beef in this dish. After finding out that they ran out of blue wings, we ordered the meatballs as an appetizer. Unfortunately, the meatballs were quite subpar. They were more firm than I expected, and thus, they did not seem fresh. The glaze couldn't fix the problem. And the high cost for the low performance put us off to a disappointing start. The interior was nice, and there were some good blues musicians performing that night. An easy four stars if the meatballs had been at least par. read more

This is our go-to place when we are in the area. Yummy food. Great size for everything. The burgers, wings, and salads are our favorites. They also have a good drink menu and perhaps the will add a gluten free bear option someday. (Buck Wild Brewing is Yummy) The patio is gorgeous!! As soon as you walk into this place it feels like you're being transported back into the late 19th century. The nostalgic finished wood bar is inviting, as is the adjacent antique piano. Blue Wing has a great selection of local brews from Fort Bragg, Mendocino, Windsor, and Fortuna--PBR ON TAP! Their cocktails are also exquisite. We had the Mendo Sour and Watermelon Mojito. Also, the entire wine list is from Lake County, we enjoyed the Dancing Crow Vineyard wines. Then menu is an American standard affair of pasta, burgers, fish and chips, salads, and flatbreads. Madison was our server and she was kind enough to let us re-locate tables during a record heat wave as the sun slapped us in the face. She came to check in on us 3-4 times despite being super busy on a Friday. Speaking of Fridays, Blue Wing typically has live music and it was nice to chill out with the local cover band strumming classic tunes ranging from Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, the Allman Brothers, Hank Williams, and Fleetwood Mac. Lastly, this saloon is located spitting distance from the legendary Tallman hotel. So there's really no excuse to ignore this place if you're staying there. I don't know when we will return to Lake County, but if I do this place is now always on the "must visit" list. read more

We have long been fans of Blue Wing but recently visited for the first time since the ownership change and were hopeful that things hadn't changed. Unfortunately from the moment we entered everything just felt different. The staff was friendly but it just didn't have the same vibe. The servers didn't seem very experienced, which is fine, everyone has to start somewhere, but some basics were missed. One member in our party ordered a glass of bubbles - it came out room temperature and clearly was poured from a non chilled bottle. The menu was very limited, which was a surprise to us given how great the previous menu was. We actually struggled a bit to find something we all wanted to order and in the end all three dishes were really lackluster. Fish & Chips: Fish definitely wasn't very fresh or high quality. Veggie Burger: this actually was the best of our 3 dishes but the patty basically fell apart part and was complete mush. The third dish we ordered was their chicken kebabs - the zucchini was so over cooked it was complete mush and nearly inedible. We hope the new owners take feedback constructively and can work through these challenges and get our beloved Blue Wing back to its former glory but we're not sure we'd make the trek to try it again unfortunately. read more

We paid Blue Wing a visit for dinner tonight. It was very nice to get out without the kids... We started with their artichoke dip and crostini. It was quite tasty. My wife followed it up a New York steak and lobster dinner. She said it was very good. I ordered the spinach salad with fried goat cheese, and I added prawns. It was actually really tasty. I also ordered a special accompaniment that is not normally on the menu. It was quinoa crusted fried avocado with a very tasty chipotle aioli. This was delicious; they really should add it to the regular menu! We will be back; just not sure how long it will be before we get back to Clearlake. read more

We went to the blue wing restaurant during any evacuation because of fire. Andrea greeted us and set me and my dog up on the patio to have an enjoyable comforting evening until the evacuation notice was removed. She not only took care of me. What an oasis in this sweet town. The outdoor seating is beautiful, shady and has a large round water feature. Covid standards adhered here. Super friendly service. The hostess also greets you at their entrance. Felt so safe and welcomed here as a tourist. Got the beet salad that can't be beat! No really, it even had jack fruit in it. Pleasant surprise. The goat cheese ravioli hit the spot. The asparagus and fresh corn pieces made it feel healthy even though it had a light cream sauce. Beautiful location. Wonderful place to enjoy a meal. In the quiet, small town of Upper Lakes and is probably the biggest attraction on the street, next to a nice inn. My husband George and I decided to return to Clearlake to celebrate our wedding anniversary We stopped visiting the area several years ago after our favorite B&B (The Bungalow) closed. Our dinner at Blue Wing was wonderful! Katie, our bartender/server, was an excellent mixologist and host. She made us feel super special and acted as our personal photographer, indulging us with several lovely pictures to memorialize our special day. The speciality cocktail, made with marionberry infused vodka, was crazy good! We shared two orders of the baked oysters (one order was not enough), and the filet mignon special, and both were delicious. Our steak was a perfect medium rare. An added bonus was the adorable prom kids all decked out. Looking forward to our next visit to Lake County and BWS. read more

This was my 3rd time eating here. And by far was the best meal I have had here. However, still not a huge fan. Prices are 5 star prices and food is good but not great. I had fish and chips. Fries were good, fish was cooked perfectly but had no flavor. I actually had to salt them. Hamburger was over cooked and boring but the sweet potato fries were delicious. The cauliflower app was good but so skimpy. The aioli was basically just mayo. For $90 (including tip) I find it not somewhere I will frequent. That's an expensive lunch. We were in the area for a weekend with friends. The Blue Wing Saloon was recommended to us so we gave it a try. We were seated on the back porch where we could hear the piano player but still visit. The staff was very attentive and turned the heater on to make sure we were comfortable. We had eggs Benedict, the bison burger and omelette. All our meals were very good. Sadly our weekend drew to a close and we paid our bill and headed home. A hundred miles later we stopped to make a purchase and realized my husband didn't have his credit card. After several minutes of panic, we call the Blue Wing and sure enough they had our credit card. With much kindness and reassurance the staff said they would mail it to us the next day and call us with a tracking number. We received our card in just a couple days and are so grateful for the kindness and integrity of the staff. We will definitely return! read more
