    Pork chop special
    Karen F.

Finally made a stop here since a friend has been telling me they have a new chef and it's worth trying. It was pretty quiet for a Saturday night so we got right in. Service was quick, menu was good, and they had a nice assortment of specials for the night. I will say that the specials seemed pretty pricey and because I just wasn't sure this was going to be worth the high prices I picked something more conservative. I went with the bone in pork chops. Came with two. Yummy garlic mashed potatoes, and vegis which were pretty much just bell peppers. That was disappointing. Pork chops were not large, very juicy and really I enjoyed them. My husband had one of them. I was pleased with my meal. Hubby got the garlic chicken. It was good. He kept saying I could cook the same meal at home (which was actually a compliment lol). And I kept saying, I don't always want to cook at home. They had his favorite drink for half the price other places serve it at and that was a huge plus. I'm glad we made the stop and look forward to the next. Presentation was a nice touch too!! Desserts were just ok. Store bought

If you are looking for a solid breakfast. The Wild Creek Restaurant at Running Creek Casino is a must stop. I've had breakfast here a few times and never disappointed. I'm not a fan of the coffee because it's basic brew. Perhaps a seasonal flavored expresso or latte would step it up a notch but everything else is great. I've only had lunch here once and never dinner so I may need to stop back to see if they are consistent. But by far a great breakfast option.

    $10 Prime Rib Special

Can't go wrong with the $10 prime rib special, but not much else exciting on the menu. The Wild Creek Restaurant is located inside the Running Creek Casino. The prime rib is a great deal, but nothing else caught my eye on the menu. The vegetables that came with the steak were on point, and I couldn't complain at all about the steak being that it was only 10 bucks. Service was friendly. The buffets here look like they have potential, but I've never had the chance to check it out.

$4.50 Caesar salad + $2.50 for chicken? That's $.50 for each piece of chicken that found its way onto my plate. Meh.

20 minute wait. Not bad for a Saturday night. Nicely appointed facility. Off to the side of the casino, thankfully it's not smokey. $4.50 Caesar salad + $2.50 for chicken? That's $.50 for each piece of chicken that found its way onto my plate. Meh. Seafood pasta is pricey but amazing. Topped with a good sized lobster tail, this pasta means business.

    My plate yum!'

Nice Friday night buffet and wait staff gave us excellent service. Very generous prime rib portion

Yummy pork chops for only $12! Very generous portion as well! :)

I must say, it exceeded all our expectations! We arrived slightly early, and as we waited a friendly gentleman approached us inquiring if we needed assistance. Though the restaurant had not yet opened, he kindly spoke with the staff on our behalf. He invited us to sit in the charming, shaded courtyard. Which was perfect especially since we were accompanied by our sweet Boston Terrier. Our server Kameron was exceptional, attentive, knowledgeable, and delightful. She shared fascinating details about the historic buildings and their connection to the hotel, providing us with a booklet recounting the intriguing story of the Tallman family's legacy. Kameron also recommended the Blue Wings with a sweet-spicy Asian glaze as an appetizer. Without a doubt, the best chicken wings I have ever tasted! Her suggestion was spot on, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. My husband ordered the Fish & Chips, while I savored the Crispy Chicken Salad. Both dishes prepared to perfection. Our dog Winnie was treated to a generous beef dog patty. An impressive patty that left her a very happy girl. Our experience with Kameron truly made us fall in love with Tallman's. So much so that before leaving, I immediately made a reservation for July. The same courteous gentleman who initially greeted us was there to assist with this, offering to reserve a dinner reservation for the evening we arrive. He even offered to show us one of their dog-friendly Main Street Suites. The suite was absolutely stunning. The hospitality we received throughout our visit was exemplary. I am now more excited about our upcoming stay at Tallman's than even our planned trip to the beach house in Fort Bragg. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Blue Wing Saloon and the Tallman Hotel to anyone seeking outstanding service, exceptional food, and drinks!

We ordered pasta dishes (the Alfredo and the ravioli with white sauce), and both sauces were extremely bland. They were watery, almost milk-like, and had virtually no flavor. It was really surprising because this restaurant used to be known for its great food. We didn't say anything while we were there because it was only about 30 minutes before closing, and we didn't want to be those customers or inconvenience the staff. We simply paid our bill and left. Since the new ownership, it's clear that something has changed. Whether it's the menu, ingredients, or chef, the heart of this place doesn't seem to be the same anymore. It's disappointing because this used to be one of our go-to spots. I hope the new owners take customer feedback to heart and make improvements, because we'd love to see Blue Wing return to what made it so special.

It was awesome, particularly considering we were celebrating somewhat of a milestone bday. We were seated when we arrived and greeted by our server immediately after the bus person had served us our water and delivered warm bread and butter to get us started. We ordered New York steaks with baked potatoes, salad with house dressing and salad with bleu cheese dressing, and a glass of house red to accompany dinner. The bread, salad, and dressings were very tasty. The steaks were cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. And the baked potatoes were a great texture and heat and served with enough sour cream to make them enjoyable. Portions were very generous. I couldn't finish my meal. Had not eaten much during the day, so we headed there, arriving around 4:30. First 2 things I noticed: pretty non-descript building, but a lot of cars parked in front of and across from the place. Once inside we found out why, when asked if we had a reservation. At 4:30pm on a Tuesday! Waited only a short time before we were seated. My buddy had brought a nice bottle of Cab, the corkage being only $10 (which is unheard of these days, when average corkage fees run $20-$50). The meats are all cooked over oak-fired grills, so we were excited. First they brought us salads with an unusual "house" dressing, kind of a combo of Italian and 1000, with a bit of French and some horseradish. Very tasty. Also had some great warm sourdough rolls. I ordered the Top Sirloin with grilled shrimp, he got the Ribeye. They both were cooked perfectly medium rare, and came with potato choices or rice pilaf. I was stunned at the portion size of my steak! Especially with beef prices so high these days. By the way, both our dinners were under $40, a bargain in 2026. Service was excellent, all staff working hard. No wonder this place is still going strong after 60 years (opened in 1966). Recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes a good cut of meat properly prepared and served by nice people.

The food was definitely fresh and the quality was great, it may just be a personal preference but I felt a lot of the food was lacking in flavor. The risotto was okay but my fiancé did like his fish. Dessert was no good unfortunately, not a fan, not much sweetness going on and the textures were not to our liking. The oysters were the highlight of the night, possibly the best oysters I've had! They tasted amazing and paired well with my drink. Dinner would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't so crazy loud that you basically had to yell to hear each other or the server. Seating was also tight with so many people waiting to be seated and servers handling orders. It would've been a better experience if the other employees weren't shoving you to get by people blocking the way or if other customers weren't smacking your head with their bags from walking behind your chair.
