Solid spot in downtown Banff. The food was better than I was expecting. I had a Mediterranean wrap with lamb meatballs (can also get falafel) and French onion soup. We split vegan poutine as a table and also got the key lime pie to split for dessert. The soup had too many onions and not enough liquid for my preference. The wrap was actually quite good and filling. The poutine was some of the best I've had, even though it was vegan. It was so good. The key lime pie was also very creamy and good. They have a fun selection of gin drinks to choose from - my friend had one and really liked it. I did not have a drink but they had your standard bar list. It looked like they have daily specials on cheap beer and some shots, if you're looking for a place to throw some back. It had a very British feel to it. Server was friendly and a bit of a hoot haha.

Was looking to enjoy a cocktail somewhere outside with a view and Rose & Crown was recommended. Though you can't tell they have rooftop seating by looking at the outside, boy do they have rooftop patio seating! Checked in with the hostess on the main floor to inquire about cocktails (I had been craving an espresso martini), she let me know that they didn't have one, but did have something kinda similar, and even recommend a couple other places in town I could find one! Talk about stellar service! We decided to head up and check out the space and were immediately sold once we saw it. Grabbed an open table, ordered our cocktails, and enjoyed the view! I got the shaft on draft, which is one of Park Distillery's creations, it was refreshing and not to mention only $6. If we didn't have more drinking plans to tend to, I definitely would've stayed for another round...especially at that price! They had a food menu as well, though we didn't look at the menu, the food around us looked and smelled good, wish I had been hungry! Overall the place had an amazing view, quick and friendly service, and was a fun place to enjoy a drink! They also had a pool table and plenty of seating inside, felt very divey, but in a fun way.

Great views! We all got tacos (special of the day) and poutine, so not a huge variety of stuff. Also tried a Caesar which is kinda like a Bloody Mary if you're into that. I didn't expect much from the tacos but they were a decent size and the meat was pretty tender. Place was pretty busy on the roof but service was still decent.

This rooftop view is worth the 5 stars!! It's absolutely stunning 360 degrees. The drinks are cheap, the bartenders friendly, and the live music is fun. As you come up the stairs you can go straight back to the pool room (2 pool tables) to sit around a juke box. Or you can go right to the live music side and the main bar. OR you can go up another set of stairs to this perfection. Must stop by.

We were looking for some comfort food after a busy day skiing at Sunshine Village. And the Rose & Crown fit the bill! Service was fab & fun with our adorable waitress who enjoyed joking around with us a bit. I ordered a shaft on draft (weird but worth a try) and a cider/IPA half & half. Hubby had a Wraspberry ale (yum). Lunch was simple & satisfying. A hoa hung "The Rose" noodle bowl for me. A lightly spicy & hearty soup with lots of veg, noodles & chicken, topped with a skewer of shrimp. Hubby ordered chicken fingers (they were ok) with a side of DELICIOUS French onion soup. I loved the puff pastry top and will be replicating this at home! I'd like to come back at a time when it's a bit busier, perhaps when there's live music. I bet this joint gets rockin'! As we were finishing our lunch we saw a camera crew filming on the street. Lo and behold it was Canadian icon David Suzuki!!! How cool is that!

Large bar with a beautiful and large rooftop area. Open late too. A lot of younger people were hanging out here. Can expect classic bar food and drinks. Service was good and timely. Food portions were large for a decent price.

White and Kokanee go great together with sun and sky.

Roof top patio with the sun shining down on a tall cold Kokanee + great service and perfectly executed fish n chips = multiple visits while in Banff. Live music every night an added bonus like extra maple syrup in yo cup of Tim Horton's Joe, if that is even a thing. Regardless, one thing is for sure, a sunny stop for drinks and libation at this hidden gem roof top is Awesome Eh!!!

Wednesday is 1/2 price bottles of wine and $7 big rock draft

Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.

I was excited to go back to my hotel and brush my teeth and use mouth wash to get rid of the disgusting pungent flavor of the pizzas the waitress recommended. PS the bathrooms were DISGUSTING. Since we didn't plan on eating, we shared the Spilt Pea Soup and Bratwurst. Both were absolutely delicious. The Alpine Cheese Fondue was pretty good but to me not worth the price...they had small fondue pots to share and the cheese went quickly while we had a pile of vegetables and other dipping ingredients left. We also had one of our fondue pots go out after the server noticed it was 'too hot' and apparently turned it off. When we asked a different server minutes later for help getting it on again, they said nothing while fiddling with it and left the table. It would have been good to acknowledge it was 'good to go' or have them show us how to operate them in case it goes out again...but no, just fiddled and left. I ordered the Steelhead Trout for dinner and it comes with zucchini, capers and a dill sauce. It was quite good and would order again in the future. For dessert we had the chocolate fondue fountains which came with strawberries, marshmallows, cookies, banana bread and more. The chocolate fountain was great but after the cheese fondue and main course, I couldn't stomach too many bites. The worst part of the night was the service. The two main servers politely asked us to 'not move around' after seating so we don't mess up their system. Even though noboby moved, most of the checks were incorrect- we got each other's bills, we got charged for items we didn't order, etc. After we called attention to it...the hostess or manager came out and grumpily grabbed the incorrect bills, crumpled them up and left. About 10min later, she came back out with the updated bills...where a few were still incorrect. She started barking out that they were still missing a drink and another order and was asking around who had it. At this point when our table has paid $1000+ for the meal and you've messed up 2xs and made us wait 15min, you should probably just eat the $30 of food and drink missing as a courtesy. Nope, this cranky manager was practically blaming us for them not having a good system and accountability. Unfortunately, based on the service and the price vs. value of the food, I cannot recommend this place.
