I turn on the shower and realized it was not warming up. Went downstairs to check the circuit breaker and what do you know, the breaker was tripped. Cutting it on solved my problem right? Ehhhhh nah. I called Roto-Rooter first (see my review for them) and they kept pushing my time out till the point that it was nighttime. I didn't feel comfortable with that so I canceled with them and called Ridgeway the next morning. The technician was very timely (he actually got to my house before I did and he didn't mind one bit), very friendly and professional. He explained to me that one of my elements in my water heater had corroded and suggested that if he replaced one he might as well replace the other one. That was a good move because both of them looked like someone spilled battery acid on them. He also explained to me that my water heater was manufactured in 2004. I moved in my brand new house in 2007 and I wondered why I had an issue with that water heater in 2008. Horrible (Georgia construction laws are horrible). So needless to say my water heater is already 8 years old. SMH Anyway it took him less than a hour to complete the work and he informed me that if the water heater started acting up again I could call him back and he would replace the heater minus part of the cost of the elements so I wouldn't be out so much money. I thought this was really nice. My lesson learned here is to go with smaller, non-chain companies. You get a better experience overall. I'm sure I would have been PISSED by time Roto-Rooter got finished (and my pockets way lighter) I will continue to use them in the future!

We have used this business for work related plumbing issues for several years…read more This time we had a leak at home and we needed help immediately. My husband called the company and help arrived the following morning. We were panicking because the leak seemed to be under our drive way. Luckily after little digging the plumber discovered where the leak was and took care of it. The actual repair didn't even take two hours. They changed the leaky pipe and left us happy. Their pricing was very reasonable, unlike what some of the larger companies would have charged. The plumber also suggested that we contact Cobb County Water System and ask for adjustment on our water bill due to a leak. Great advise. This is a nice small business, and we can highly recommend them for your plumbing issues.

Called Plumbing Detectives for a slow drain in our upstairs bathroom and gurgling in the bathtub…read moresometimes when we flushed the toilet. Jason came out to check it and called to say he would be a few minutes late to meet the appointed time. When he checked the bathroom, he advised the problem may be fixed with Zep Enzyme drain clearer. If the Zep didn't work the drain would need to be snaked. He is very pleasant and with had a little chat but he refused payment for the house call since he did not do anything. The enzyme cleaner didn't work and we called Jason and set an appointment a week away. He was always courteous to give us updates on th time he could come. He fixed our problem replacing the drain from the sink to the disposal line and we were very satisfied with the service and price. We recommend Jason and the Plumbing Detectives highly. The only disappointment is there only five stars available. I would put a plus on each of them.

I called with my toilet suddenly having started leaking from where the tank meets the base. Jason asked a few questions about the age/make of the toilet and was able to diagnose the issue over the phone. Unfortunately he was booked for the next week and a half and we didn't want to go without a second toilet in the house that long. But instead of calling another plumber Jason explained the part that he was sure was the issue and that it was a moderately easy DIY project to take off the tank and replace it. He talked me through what it would consist of and even offered that if I got stuck or had questions I could call him back. A trip to Home Depot for a new spud valve and an hour or so of work later and I had fixed my own toilet. An amazing level of service and professionalism. When I inevitably end up needing a plumber in the future, this will be the only one I call.

I called in another local licensed AC technician to fix his handiwork (which in this case was a blown capacitor). Given you get 0 value for the money, I would skip this guy. It also turns out that the "Plumbing" part is a joke because he isn't even licensed as a plumber. The last time anyone with those names was licensed as a plumber in Georgia was around 2008. That means that, if Jack messes something up, then he's liable and likely doesn't have insurance for it. Don't do it. (Note that, as far as I can tell, he is licensed for HVAC work. I still wouldn't recommend him.) If you're nice to Jack, then the guy rambles on and on about InfoWars and about pretty much every crazy conspiracy theory you can imagine. He is far down the rabbit hole - he's about as racist as you can get. Finally, as Jack once told me, his son "ain't nice". That's Tyler, the son, flipping you off in the business's picture, in case you weren't sure. Jack really shouldn't bring Tyler anywhere, as Tyler grumbles and makes snarky comments while his father is working.

I telephoned one of the large mechanical heating and air companies who sent one of their techs out to figure out the problem. After a few minutes, their tech promptly informed me that the heater could NOT be fixed - it needed to be replaced. ..that it was "too old to even get parts for," he said, and that it was "beyond repair." That it would be $2500. to replace the furnace....BUT, that he didn't recommend just doing that part of it because the whole heating and air system in my house was on the verge of failing also and I should upgrade it all at the same time. For which he quoted $8600. Afterwards, I telephoned another similar company, and went through basically the same experience. I was heartsick about it because I did not have that amount of money to fix it. I then decided to try to find a smaller company to look at the problem. Because, without a lot of company overhead costs, I reasoned, maybe I could get a lesser estimate. I found out about RJ at Sweetwater Plumbing Heating & AC Co. from a neighbor of mine ...told me that this company is basically a one man shop and the Owner does all his own work. He came right out and began looking at my old furnace. I told him I needed it fixed, that I could not afford to replace it. He was really funny when he was looking at the furnace. He said that he had "learned how to work on these old furnaces from my old man when our company was in Sandy Springs...when I used to work with him when I was a kid....These new guys in these big companies have no clue how to fix these old things....they only know how to install a whole new system...and, besides, that is what their bosses push them to do...to upsell whole units...and meet their quotas for selling." YIKES, I thought. Then, within about 10 minutes, he said: "Your furnace's blower motor is shot....you need a new one." He told me how much it would cost for labor and materials. He then brought down this part from the attic, went onto the porch and he and his assistant started taking apart what he told me was the outer shell of the blower unit assembly to get to the blower motor. He said he would run up to the parts store and get the part needed. Within 45 minutes he was back, and promptly put the blower assembly back together and then re-installed it in the furnace. He also showed me that one of the electrical connections leading to the unit needed to be re-wired and he fixed that too. He then said Turn it on. And, OMG...the furnace turned and began to work. It continued to work thru-out the rest of the cold days and nights. The whole bill came to $375.00. I was amazed. Very happy. I would highly recommend this small company. From what I understand, he also does a great deal of plumbing and air conditioning work.
