I spoke w the lady this morning who again quoted me $475 to install the water heater. I politely declined he services then he goes to say that he checked with you and you never said that ...calling me a liar. Unbelievable! I have worked with this company before and had the pleasure of working with Israel P who I initially requested but he was out on vacation. The lady was apologetic when I called back but unfortunately the damage was done. No one wants to be implied a liar when I am spending $1ks or have spent $1ks with the company. I discovered that my water heater stopped working on Christmas eve of all days. I left work early and wanted to wind down with a hot shower. I turn on the shower and realized it was not warming up. Went downstairs to check the circuit breaker and what do you know, the breaker was tripped. Cutting it on solved my problem right? Ehhhhh nah. I called Roto-Rooter first (see my review for them) and they kept pushing my time out till the point that it was nighttime. I didn't feel comfortable with that so I canceled with them and called Ridgeway the next morning. The technician was very timely (he actually got to my house before I did and he didn't mind one bit), very friendly and professional. He explained to me that one of my elements in my water heater had corroded and suggested that if he replaced one he might as well replace the other one. That was a good move because both of them looked like someone spilled battery acid on them. He also explained to me that my water heater was manufactured in 2004. I moved in my brand new house in 2007 and I wondered why I had an issue with that water heater in 2008. Horrible (Georgia construction laws are horrible). So needless to say my water heater is already 8 years old. SMH Anyway it took him less than a hour to complete the work and he informed me that if the water heater started acting up again I could call him back and he would replace the heater minus part of the cost of the elements so I wouldn't be out so much money. I thought this was really nice. My lesson learned here is to go with smaller, non-chain companies. You get a better experience overall. I'm sure I would have been PISSED by time Roto-Rooter got finished (and my pockets way lighter) I will continue to use them in the future! read more

I hired this company to replace a sewer ejection pump and the pipe connecting to the city sewer. They gave me 5 year warranty on their work. After 2 years it stopped working. They are looking all the excuses they can not to honor their warranty. The way they responded my call is just yelling, their technician they sent to look at the situation is the most unprofessional person I had to deal with. Stay away from this company. It is a disgrace for the plumbing profession what these guys are standing for. read more

Had a main line water leak and requested a quote from Ridgeway. They responded within an hour and gave a detailed estimate for a repair and a complete replacement. After receiving two other company quotes I selected Ridgeway based on their extensive experience and 20 year guarantee on parts and labor for a full waterline replacement from the meter to the copper shutoff in my home. They were able to schedule me within two hours of my request and Salvador and his partner had the job completed in 2 hours. Salvador was professional, efficient and thorough in completing the Job. His experience and knowledge was impressive and he demonstrated exceptional customer care. I highly recommend them if you need a main waterline replacement. read more

Our toilet was leaking from the filler unit. I called this company and was told they would be there that day. At 4:30 they called to say they were running late and would be at my condo the next morning at 9:00 AM. They showed up at 10:15, looked at the toilet and told me I needed a new filler unit. That is what I told them originally. They said they would have to go to Home Depot to pickup a unit. I didn't understand why a plumber would not have a filler unit on their truck or bring one with them when they were told what the problem was. An hour later they came back to fix the toilet. Over 2 hours to fix a toilet. Ridiculous. I guess that is why the bill was so high. Never again. read more

I own a vacant house in downtown Atlanta which needed the water turned on when I found tenants to rent the place. I called the City of Atlanta and they said they would send someone out right away. The next day, I received a written notice on the door that said someone from Atlanta Watershed came by to turn on the water but they had to turn it back off because the meter was running (meaning there is possibly a leak). They recommended that I look into "leak detection services", which is how I stumbled upon Ridgeway Mechanical, and get the leak identified and fixed before calling them back. I called Ridgeway on a Tuesday afternoon to explain my problem. Given that my tenants had already started moving in and needed water ASAP, the situation was somewhat urgent and Ridgeway was able to squeeze me into their schedule last minute, send Greg down to the house during the worst traffic time of the day, identify the leak in what seemed like record time (apparently it's a common problem), and provide me with an $800 quote to replace the main water line from the street to my house. All of that was completed within an hour of my initial call. I was amazed. However, I'm a girl who likes to shop around so I spent the next two days getting quotes for the same service from other plumbing companies. You would think that I'd get a faster response time from these companies since the problem has already been identified and I already know exactly what I need but, to my surprise, it actually took these other companies an average of 1.5 days to provide me with a quote, compared to the 1 hour turnaround from Ridgeway. On top of their slow response, the quotes I got from were almost double of what Ridgeway provided. I called on Thursday afternoon to schedule an appointment with Ridgeway, and as before, they were able to fit me in immediately and penciled me in for Friday morning to fix the water line. Even though I had a bunch of meetings lined up on Friday morning for work, Ridgeway had no problems fixing the water line without me having to be there (since it's all accessible from the outside) and left me a voicemail after they were done. I called them back on the drive home from work to make my payment over the phone and that was it! It was the easiest, most painless plumbing transaction I've ever experienced. Called for quote Friday Monday coming out to do the repairs. Very friendly fast service. Had a crack in my main sewer pipe, the old cast iron type....alas it also had a connection to a Lead pipe which was warped and had to be cut back as well. Service: great, friendly. Only complaint is that they opened up a section of wall behind my dishwasher and never offered to fix it. cost: $720 (around 150/hr plus parts) I would have liked to have been closer to $500, but Atlanta like all larger cities over charges for good service providers. Overall: Rusty & Jason were great guys. I would recommend them and Ridgeway again but I'd get a firm quote from more than one plumber if it wasn't a rush job. read more

Three service calls for the same leaking shower. Tenants upset and then late to service call. First replaced the hot water stem in December, 5 months later they said hard water built up was causing the same leak and the last (2 months later) was that the tenant tighten faucet to hard. When I asked for receipts I was sent over falsified documents that did not match what I had and signed by my tenant. They even claimed to replace the cold water valve which I had my handyman replace earlier in the year and when I spoke with the service technician he claimed hard water build up I never mind paying for service but just be honest and do a good job. This company was neither. The only thing I can say nice is they are friendly on the phone and they will be sending me a refund for the 2nd service call read more

I put in a request on Service Magic. Got a call leas than a minute later. Jamie was at my door within an hour.my water heater had recently been replaced and the water wasn't getting hot. They ran a test on the water heater and turned up the temp, also adjusted my shower knob. Total cost $175 which I thought was very high for 30 minutes and no parts BUT the guys were super nice and very professional. There was NO breakdown of the fees on the invoice. Just a description of the repair and the total. I would have rated them higher if they would have discussed the cost with me prior to the repair. I really hate it when that doesn't happen . I would like to echo the other positive ratings about Ridgeway Mechanical. Looking for a second opinion on my sewage pipe issue I gave these guys a call and Alan responded promptly. The initial quote from another company to replace the sewage line would be a $3k expense and I needed someone to verify the claim. Alan said at first that we might be able to repair the line for less and attempted a different solution first which would've resulted in significant savings to me. When that didn't work he further inspected the pipe and saw on camera the tree root which had cracked the line. I was not charged for the first attempt to fix the issue nor the fee some companies charge to snake a camera down the pipe. His cost to replace the sewage pipe was reasonable and less than the first quote I received. He came back soon after with a rented tractor and finished the work in no time. I have recommended him to several friends and I have his card in case I ever need a plumber again. read more

I highly recommend Ridgeway. We called on Sunday because we had some issues with our hot water heater. Allan Ridgeway spent a considerable amount of time with my husband on the phone - even looking at photos my husband emailed - helping us assess the problems to avoid coming out on a Sunday and avoiding after-hour charges. He sent someone out first thing Monday to replace the water heater. The plumber he sent was fantastic - on time, friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. Allan gave us a ballpark estimate over the phone but when they got out on Monday realized that one of the concerns was not actually an issue - the actual price was $200 less than the estimate. We had a water leak from the street to the house. Ridgeway Mechanical responded very quickly. They sent Salvatore who was able to diagnose the issue, explained how they would fix it and the price was half of what a few others had quoted. Best of all they replaced the entire line without ripping up the yard. The others had insisted there was no way to do that in our yard. Salvatore showed how they did it and there was no obstacle reason our yard to resort to using a ditch witch. Another thing in their favor is a 20 year warranty for parts and labor. More importantly, he's honest. I had Ridgeway install plumbing for a bathroom shower/tub. The plumber installed the fixture wrong. You couldn't turn the handle without hitting the spigot. They sent out another plumber to look at it and when he called in to Ridgeway to tell them it was their fault, the owner/manager told the plumber to lie about it. He said to lie to the homeowner. How do I know? The plumber had the conversation on speaker phone so I heard every word. These guys are dishonest. read more

This is going to be a pretty long review , but I believe it's worth the time to read. First of all, I want to express that this review is not a refelction of the work ethic of the hired workers that are employed here. I am giving this a maximum of 2 stars only bc of the hard work that I witnessed. However, the complete lack of professionalism and seemingly absent ability to communicate at all has led to a horrible and expensive experience over the last few weeks. Round 1. My first attempt to have them out was scheduled for between 5-7pm. By 8:15pm that same evening I had still not recieved a courtesy call that they would be late and of course no one had shown up yet. I called the company and spoke to Alan. He was incredibly appologetic and promised to have his best guys come out and get us all fixed up for good deal. I was reasonably happy with the customer service at this point and agreed to make another appt. Round 2. The guys show up and work very hard to reroute our plumbing and help us get our new vanity installed. However, after rerouting the plumbing, I am told that the boss is making them leave immediatley becasue they are late for another job. They were obviously unable to finish the remainder of the job despite the fact that I told them how important this was since we were going out of town the next day. Oh well, too bad is pretty much the attitude I was given. Round 3. We finally are able to get another scheduled appt and hopefully finsh this thing up. NOPE! The guy who had worked on our house earlier and was supposed to be at our house this morning decided to quit! Was I notified of this? No. Did the correct information about the remainder of the job get relayed to the new plumber assigned? Hell no. Thankfully, I was able to answer the phone when he called and could explain to him that he wasn't there to install a vanity and toilet like he was apparently told, but to place faucets in the new vanity and fix the water pressure in the shower (which I was told was a quick and easy fix by our previous guy with 20 yrs plumbing experience). Well this new guy is able to place the faucets which was great. After almost 3 weeks we finally have faucets, yay. Well, we are now told that not only was the work he just did going to cost us 100$ more than originally quoted, but that the shower was infact not an easy fix and that it would run us another 265$, and that we would need to make yet another freaking appointment! I do want to note that the new plumber that was assigned, Jamie, was very pleasant and worked hard to get done what he could. Round 4. Not happening. The lack of communication from the owner of this company was absolutely appalling. We are now out 850$ and still can't use our master bathroom to it's full ability after 3 weeks of appointments/cancelations. I will obviously be going to another company to finish off the rest of the work. I had really high hopes after seeing such good reviews from other customers, but my experience was FAR from that. I am not one to write bad reviews, this may infact be my first, but I am beyond livid at how this whole process has gone. Good Luck. read more

I called on a Wed evening to schedule a estimate. Ridgeway Mechanical sent a crew out to my house the next morning. I had to work and was worried that I would need to be home but they assured me they could give me a estimate over the phone which they did and I agreed to the work. They called me when they were done and I was even able to pay over the phone. I had to have a sewer main replaced under my driveway. Other companies told me they would have to tear up my entire driveway. Ridgeway Mechanical assured me that they had state of the art art equipment that would pinpoint where the pipes were located and it would be minimum removal of the driveway which they patched up after the job was done. They did a clean job and you can't even tell that work was done. The rate was reasonable and there is even a 20 year warranty on the work they did. The gentleman who helped me was very professional and communicated every step of the process to me. Had a water main break and my plumber urged me to contact Ridgeway ... they started off great..sent a crew who tried to repair the leak but no luck... gave me what I thought was a reasonable quote and said they would be here first thing the next morning.. 8 and no sighting.. same a 9.. called and Alan said there was a problem with the truck and they could be out in a little while.. called back at 11, 12 and 1 pm.. no answer.. had a call a second company to do the job (which also charged me less..).. would be a one star rating except for the guys coming out and tried to fix the leak (no charge)..guess they are pretty busy..must be nice.. read more

Diagnosed the problem in no time, which was a leak in the water service line, and fixed it in just a couple of hours, without digging up any of my yard or bushes! Ridgeway Mechanical prides itself on being the most experienced sewer and water line replacement company in the Atlanta metro area and so I felt confident when I hired them to replace my sewer and water line in Smyrna. I took the day off from work to be at home for them and they showed up this morning with three trucks and a digging tractor. They talked amongst themselves for nearly an hour and then told me that they were backing out of the job because they didn't know they had to get an inspection and that getting an inspection "totally changes things" and would make the job nearly double the price. WHAT?! Why would a reputable plumbing company ever think they could replace my home's main sewer and water lines without having their work inspected by the local jurisdiction?! This is one the most basic, fundamental requirements of their line of work and it is a surprise to them?! Hearing this from the onsite leader was beyond shocking. I suspect it is baloney and the real reason is that they felt they underbid on the job and needed an excuse to back out. They just happened to come up with an excuse that not only made them look like novices, but made them look like an illegally-operating sham of a plumbing company. Bravo. We called Ridgeway Plumbing to replace our water heater, which we thought was leaking. Alan sat on the phone with us for the better part of 30 minutes, helping us figure out what we could do to temporarily stem the leaking until he could send someone out to fix it on Sunday. Some further investigation on our end lead to the actual discovery of the problem, which was a clogged hidden pipe behind some drywall, that made it seem like the water heater was leaking. We called Alan back and he graciously walked us through what to do to fix the problem, told us the type of equipment we would need and even sent us a picture of it. The problem is all fixed now, no more leaks! Alan is a class act, very knowledgeable and thorough. He did not charge us a dime for all of his advise. Very satisfied with their work. We discovered a slow leak in our main water line. Ridgeway came out on a Saturday to give an estimate and had the problem taken care of asap. They were also recommended to us by a 3rd party contractor, who helped clean up the mess, after they heard we had a quote from them. We had 4 other quotes. One other was close, but they level of expertise we heard these guys had far surpassed the others. That was the decision maker. Our experience confirmed the recommendation. The guys came out and minimally disturbed the yard as well as the interior. The other plumbers wanted to trench the yard and cut a bunch more drywall. Labor intensive and dirty. They came up with a much better solution that I am sure was more difficult for them. The two plumber explained their methods in detail and treated us very professionally. I scheduled an appointment for an estimate and told them that it was not an emergency but something that I wanted to get fixed in the next 48hrs, (a toilet had overflowed and we got it stopped and cleaned up the gross water but still its the easiest bathroom to get to in the house so fixing it is a good thing) The guy never showed up and didn't even call! I called the office to find out what was going on and only got an answering machine- twice. Don't bother, look else-where. I ended up using Royal Flush Plumbers and they did a great job! read more

Due to a number of very high water bills, I went looking for a leak and found water seeping down the inside wall of my basement where the main water line comes into the house through the foundation. I called my regular plumber (through a handyman service); he came yesterday afternoon and looked at it but said it was likely a bigger job than he was ready to tackle since the leak appeared to originate outside and would require excavation & work on both sides of the foundation. He highly recommended Ridgeway Plumbing, so I called them up. The owner answered immediately and offered to send one of his most experienced guys out first thing this morning (7:30 - 8). The plumber arrived right on time (7:45), quickly gave me two estimates to choose from (one a repair to the existing water main line from the meter, the other to completely replace the entire line from the meter into the copper main inside the house). I chose the full replacement (w/ written 20 yr. parts & labor warranty). I paid close attention throughout the job because I was interested (I'm an engineer); he did a very thorough job and took the time to explain every one of my questions. He was very pleasant and completed the job efficiently - in exactly the three hours he estimated at the start, with the water off for only about 90 minutes total. He was done and I was a very happy customer by 11:30 AM - less than 24 hours after my initial call. I highly recommend Ridgeway Plumbing. read more

Called Ridgeway for a toilet discharge/backup, and the owner answered and was very helpful. Said they'd have someone here within the hour, and 30 minutes someone showed up. They over delivered right out of the gate! Jaime came in and took over. Found the issue, removed the clog and was gone in a little over an hour. Price was fair and an overall great experience in an unpleasant situation. Highly recommend if you're ever in need and want someone you can trust. Overall, good job and good price. Called on Monday for a fairly simple job (add new faucet to outside - for use in garden). A rep came the next day to look things over and give me an estimate, which was comparable to another company that also came out. On Wednesday I called to schedule the job and was told that someone could come sometime that afternoon, probably around 1. By 3:00 nobody had shown so I called to reschedule for 1pm the next day. This time the rep (Salvador) showed up right at 1pm. After I explained the job, he quoted me exactly twice my original estimate. When I said that I already had an estimate for the job he called the main office and then honored the original estimate price. I'm (obviously) no plumber, but to my untrained eye the work seemed good quality. I'll try to update this review if any problems crop up down the road. read more

PART 1 My initial contact with Ridgeway was perfect. In fact, I couldn't believe how well the service was going considering the size of the job I was coordinating. My initial plumber was David, he showed up on time, gave a fair quote and came back to complete the initial portion of the job with no incident. The first visit included the installation of the gas line for a new gas range, installation of new water line for pot filler and capping existing water lines in preparation for cabinet installation. When I received my statement, I noticed that I was charged TWICE for the service. No big deal, these things happen. I simply filed a dispute with AMEX and they took care of everything...all parties satisfied. PART 2 After the cabinets and countertops had been installed, I called back to schedule what should have been the easy part of this service. Reinstalling the dishwasher, installing customer supplied faucet and pot filler. Attempt 1: My appointment time was 8am on 12/15. At 7:45am, I was a little surprised to receive a call from the office "confirming my appointment time". However, it was apparent that they had no idea what they were supposed to come out and do nor were they clear on how much I was quoted for the service. I had to tell them. Unfortunately, they wouldn't complete the service because the tile backsplash had not been installed (which prevented the pot filler install). They also said that they electrical wires - which had simply been pushed under the floor during construction - needed to be pulled up through the floor and cabinet by an electrician in order to install the disposal and dishwasher. Frustrating, but okay. Attempt 2: I called back and was scheduled for 12/23 between 10-2. You guessed it, noone showed up. I called shortly after 2pm, and was told that Jaime was working on Pharr Road and would be at my place in about 15-20 minutes. I even skipped leaving for lunch to make sure I didn't miss them. But, Jaime never showed up and no one ever called to say he'd be delayed. I called back around 4pm and was told that Jaime "would call me". AGAIN, no show and no call. I'm not a happy camper. Attempt 3: I called back first thing 12/24 to find out what happened and was told (not asked mind you) that my appointment had been rescheduled for Monday, 12/29 at 8am. Wait...what? So before I "go in" on the complete disregard for customer service and lack of professionalism, let me first say that the guy that is now handling inbound phone calls is not the same person that I was dealing with during PART 1. As he refused to give me his name, I'll refer to him as "Disrespectful Company Rep" since the name I would call him involves profanity which is frowned upon in this forum. So I asked the Disrespectful Company Rep to explain since no one ever called me to reschedule the appointment. The most intelligent response he could muster was, "Uhhh..Jaime didn't call you?" After several rounds with this "intellectual" all I could gather was that someone at Ridgeway had taken it upon themselves to move the appointment without regard to my schedule, my availability or the fact that they had screwed up my initial appointment the day before. I asked Disrespectful Company Rep if they could send someone else instead of Jaime, surely there's more than one technician that works there. Still, no satisfaction. I guess Disrespectful Company Rep used up the last of his 3 brain cells to tell me that Jaime was on a tractor on some huge job in some other part of the city. He could try and text him, but...he probably wouldn't respond. I simply took that to mean that my job was too small and the commitment they'd made to it not significant to warranty a remedy to the havoc they'd caused to our Christmas plans. Disrespectful Company Rep lacked any motivation to escalate my service call, offer an apology for the inconvenience or the lack of coordination within their organization. After his 3rd delivery of, "Uhhhh...Jaime was supposed to call you." I ceremoniously hung up the phone...yes, in his face. Attempt 4: So a week has passed and it's the morning of 12/29 at 8am. By 9am no one has called and no one has shown up. The ONLY thing I want for Christmas is for Disrespectful Company Rep NOT to answer the phone when I call to inquire. No such luck. Again, I've had pet rocks smarter than this guy so having an intelligent conversation is more than a challenge. Again, there is no record of the appointment. He has no idea what the job is about.
