The absolute worst, most unprofessional vet clinic I have ever stepped foot in! We brought our little puppy in last Tuesday night and sat in a room for 40 minutes with no answers only to hear the male staff outside the door talk about their "conquests" from the night before. It took everything in my husband to not walk out that room and say something. We will be filing a formal complaint. This place is a complete rip off. I took my dog there because he had Outrageous diarrhea that was not stopping could not sleep throughout the night. I took him to blue Pearl and they checked him for a Pavo and he didn't have it. They didn't even do a fecal sample or anything like that they send him home with two meds that wasn't even gonna fix the issue. They charge me an outrageous price of $343 and my dog was still severely sick. Today I get a call from them. The young lady asked me. I think her name was Haley or Karen she said hey is this a dildo shop? Why would you be calling me asking about a dildo shop if you're in a place of business this company is a total joke. Taking blaze emergency clinic who treated him instantly they gave him a fecal sample. They gave him the proper meds and now he's starting to show improvements and I'm super happy please please reconsider this place you will be charge you a ridiculous amount without even fixing the issue and it's amazing. They saved my Papillion Pumpkin's life!!! Unbeknownst to me my fur baby has Addisons disease and it can come in very fast, all the sudden no appetite and as I was calling literally 8 or 9 vet offices I couldn't get him in to ANYONE that same day! after panicking I returned to the bedroom and my baby was an unresponsive rag doll, I went into hyperdrive and teleported to Blue Pearl Brandon! I was a hysterical hot mess (not usually in my character) they IMMEDIATELY took him back and administered IV fluids and began diagnosis. The projected cost was well explained with a best case and worse case scenario estimate after they evaluated him. He was there for over 48 hours and the staff and doctors were wonderful and very thorough explaining the situation, diagnosis and aftercare. The staff was very gentle and patient with my hot mess self! I called them only once or twice because they kept us very informed, I cannot thank them and brag on them enough! They literally saved his life, if I would have waited 12 more hours he would have died, IMO if I would have taken him to a normal vet they might not have had the critical care equipment and preparedness to save my baby (even if I was able to get him in). Perhaps some would say they are expensive, I feel the price was very fair and up front and there were no surprises. This is a 'state of the art' facility that is prepared for ANY emergency situation for your pet and unfortunately most pet owners have pet emergencies and it's RARELY during normal business hours! My pup had an allergic reaction to one of her vaccines so I took her to BluePearl. The tech that came to get her was so friendly and caring and took such good care of my girl. The doctor called me within five minutes to let me know what was going on. They treated her quickly and the swelling she had went down significantly. I would echo all of the negative comments about blue pearl that have been mentioned before. Our normal that did the same procedures a week prior to our visit at blue pearl that were repeated at blue pearl at 3 to 4 times the cost. They claimed to be "specialists", however they did not do anything different than what our regular vet did. We were treated as if we were an annoyance, or inconvenience keeping them from something more important. All they wanted was the money. I have owned several dogs, and been to numerous vets, to include emergency and specialists all over the country as I have moved with the miand this that is by far the worst of any I have ever experienced. As a follow-up to the initial review, 24 hours later my dog is no longer able to put any weight on the leg in question, something he has been unable to do since being released from testing yesterday. BluePearl was great with my cat George, all of a sudden he got real sick I thought he wasn't going to make it through the night or if he did by the next day he would be so bad off there wouldn't be much hope. I took him in he was running 104 temp, they kept me inform on things and gave him a shot of antibiotics and some strong pain management. My bill was $213.16 I really thought it was going to be more for it being at 8pm and emergency. I brought my George home about 9:30 that evening and I could tell he was feeling much better. It took about 4 days for him to totally recover. I have to give thanks to all the staff at BluePearl they were wonderful. I have 11 cats and 2 dogs and I'm very thankful knowing that there is such a great emergency veterinary hospital close to me. read more

If I found a dying stray animal in the Blue Pearl parking lot, I still wouldn't take it to Blue Pearl. I gave this place three tries and was more disappointed with every visit. They never had any helpful advice, never ran any tests my dog required (plot twist- it was a UTI all three times) and yet still charged $500-$2500 every visit... basically if you take your dog to Blue Pearl, you're going to waste your money and still pay buckets of money to an actual vet the next day. First trip: gaslighted me into thinking my dog couldn't walk because he smelled pot (not smoke, the plant) even though I'm telling him it's not possible. Took him to the vet the next day- why couldn't he walk? Severe UTI. Second trip: gaslighted my fiancé into thinking he immediately needed x-rays for his UTI symptoms because... "there could be blockage even though he's peeing a lot". They preyed on his emotions and didn't run any form of urine test or blood panel first- straight to x-rays. What did my vet determine was wrong? Severe UTI. Third (and final) straw: I called ahead asking if they would do a fecal test, since he has been exposed to hookworms. He can't walk and his eyes are oozing and won't stay open and I didn't want to delay being sure this wasn't a parasite. They said yes, so I brought him in. After waiting about 3 hours for a vet to see us (with an empty waiting room) the vet refused to run any tests and said "sometimes dogs get colds". We demanded a fecal test and somehow they miraculously did that in less than 10 minutes.. and didn't put it on our bill due to "it was a small sample since he pooped 6 hours ago so it could be wrong"... what a load of BS!! They charged us $400 for a fluid shot (he wasn't dehydrated and my vet actually determined the shot made his condition worse) and a nausea pill (that he didn't need because he was eating and drinking fine)... Guess what my vet determined is wrong? Severe UTI which caused a respiratory infection- pretty obvious by his eyes, coughing, and blood panel. Three times my sweet dog desperately needed antibiotics and they gave him a nausea pill to get us to leave. They didn't even wipe his eye discharge away. Bottom line is Blue Pearl's business motto is "suck all the money out of emotional people. And if they don't want to spend thousands, get them the heck out of here." read more

My family was all rushing to grieve and we all gathered at the door unaware of the covid policies waiting to see our baby. so our 14 year old cattle dog whose health had been failing collapsed on Sunday. Our usual pet doctor was not open. I had a friend who had a good experience with Blue Pearl so we took our dog to them. I had a feeling that this was going to be the end. They took our dog back and confirmed our fears. Since we had her since she was a puppy we where very upset, not with the vet but the death of the "worlds greatest dog ever". We were treated with kindness at this difficult time. They took her and had her cremated and we know have her ashes. For a late Sunday afternoon the clinic was great and it was a lot less money that I expected. PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!! This is the worst vet I have ever taken one of my pets to. My Guinea pig started out with a head tilt at home so I took her to the vet they said she has a common parasite that Guinea pigs get in their brain that causes them to tilt their head. They prescribed Panacur/Dewormer and critical care because she wasn't eating much. Mind you we walked in at 11:30pm Thursday and walked out at walked out at 2:00 am Friday due to a wait when there was no others except one dog who was outside with the owner. The same day she was ok until she started getting discharge from her nose and she was dizzy and rolling around. We took her in on Saturday morning at 2:00 am to see what else is wrong with her. They said they missed checking her ears and she has an ear infection that makes her dizzy. They cleaned her ear out and prescribed some antibiotics and ear drops. They said they would be back with the medication. They came back with the ear drops and said we have to get the antibiotic from a pharmacy. We walked out of there at 5:30 am on Saturday. We could not find the prescribed antibiotic at any pharmacy near us and they did not give us a compound pharmacy location to get it at. She sadly passed on at 10:00 am the same day to to this vet office and their lack of knowledge and care. They also did not have a exotic vet and their drs were giving her meds based of of researching on the internet. Please do not take your animal here and risk their life. Awesome experience, front the time I called in to discuss my fur babies symptoms, I was advised it would be best to bring her in. We arrived and we're greeted by the young lady at the front desk and taken right back to a room and the immediately began checking my Princess out. She was having difficulty standing, walking and balancing. I was a little leery upon reading the bad reviews, however I'm not sure what the situations involved. Coffee and vending available too. Staff was very friendly and professional. It was a fairly quick visit but it wasn't an in and out. Dr. Miller was personable, caring and engaged in conversation to get to know me and my dog. I felt her consultation was thorough. She and her tech spent time answering my questions regarding a future surgery. I've had way too much experience with various vet specialists so I was pleasantly surprised at the $169.75 bill ($123 consultation fee + $46.75 eye stain). Great service today! read more

The care that my dog received after being bitten by a neighbor's dog was excellent - however, their medication pricing is ridiculously high (5x as much as Wal-Mart for pain medication) and they refused to disclose how much the dispensing fees were for prescribed medications. I am on a fairly tight budget as a single parent, and when I asked for 24 hours of my dogs' meds, I did not get pricing for the smaller quantity based on dividing the estimated cost by the number of pills, I was informed that there was a dispensing fee for the medications but no one would tell me exactly what that was and it is not listed separately on the estimate.  Unfortunately, I could not find a local pharmacy with current stock of one of the prescriptions that was needed.  So I called their office back within 12 hours of our visit and asked for the remaining quantity to be filled, and asked that my pricing be prorated to reflect the original pricing for the original quantity and the staff refused to do so.  My dog needed her antibiotics without interruption so I paid what I need to in order to care for her properly but the issue regarding the medication left a bad taste in my mouth concerning this business. They were fully aware that finances were an issue, and did not make any offer of CareCredit. Come to find out, the Animal Emergency Care Clinic of Brandon right across the street has an ongoing CareCredit offer of 6 months interest free financing and a $25 coupon for services that are priced lower than Blue Pearl. I hope that we don't ever need an emergency vet again, but if we do, we would definitely go there instead of Blue Pearl. read more

I think the staff is ok, but the Brandon Blue Pearl should not be called an emergency clinic in my opinion because they are limited in what they can do without diagnostic equipment like CT and MRI imaging. How is that emergency care? It's more like what we humans call urgent care for minor problems. Apparently some of the vets are also limited in what procedures they can do there like a biopsy. My dog was very ill, and if I had understood the limitations at Brandon, I would have gone to the Tampa location where it is a true hospital. read more

Brought my 5 y/o dog for an exam with Dr. Otte the internist to diagnose her stomach issues. I made very clear this is a nervous dog and they should give her a mild sedative for the ultrasound. My appointment was 2/24 at 10 am. We were told they'd be 2-3 hours. I told them it's an hour drive to call me earlier. I never heard from them I called at 2:23 and was told Dr. Otte was catching up on messages and emails since she just got back from vacation. We left home when on the way there they called at 3:08 to tell us to pick her up. They told me she was very compliant (1st lie). Within an hour of being home my dog was shrieking, I called and Danielle G informed me she's been there 8 years and since I declined to accept a free emergency visit couldn't help me, didn't have to listen to me yelling (no cursing involved BTW)just very anxious as I didn't know what was wrong other than razor burn and cuts on the right side of her stomach. She did say to put a cold compress on it before she hung up on me. Three visits to my vet an hour away last week we finally pinpointed the problem last Friday, a back injury. For a week my dog is getting major meds, herbs for pain and acupuncture and cold laser therapy and she will hopefully recover. I have to hand feed her and bring her water while she lies down as I imagine it hurts leaning over the bowl. When I complained to their corporate and began forwarding invoices from my vet I received the following reply: Thank you for updating me on Willows' condition, I hope she continues to improve. Everything was much better after only 12 hours. I only realized the fact that the drugs were causing the decline because I spoke to 2 people who had the exact experience with this place. My dog was having problems with his eye suddenly swelling. I took him to BluePearl. He was scheduled for surgery a couple days later with his normal vet. I thought that taking him to BluePearl for care until his surgery would be the best thing to do. Turns out I was wrong. They stuck him antibiotics and pain medication and kept him overnight. He ended up having cancer in his his mouth nose and eye. My vet found it just by a simple examination. BluePearl charged me a $1000 and didn't even examine him. He suffered for two days when he wouldn't have had to suffer at all if they had done a simple exam. I wouldn't recommend taking your pet here as service is subpar. I was going to lose my dog no matter what. They just could have examined him and told me earlier. It was a waste of a $1000 dollars for nothing Update I spoke with Rochelle and we discussed my dog and his tumor. I still think that more could have been done by BluePearl. I do appreciate her investigating my complaint but I still am worried about taking a pet there. Like I said, I paid a $1000 for an overnight stay, antibiotics and pain meds and they really didn't examine other than his eye. I guess they are the only game in town and can charge the fees they charge which can be more than it cost to treat a human. I have heard other negative stories about BluePearl and I didn't bring up my situation. I brought my puppy to blue pearl in Brandon after finding out he has the parvovirus. He was transferred from another facility where he was receiving 24 hour care. My puppy did not receive any treatment until 4 hours after being at their facility. Even after calling to make arrangements. There was NO SENSE OF URGENCY. My puppy was hooked up to a catheter with NO running fluids for 4 hours while waiting in their exam room. My puppy had to suffer with a catheter with nothing connected for 4 hours!! With the parvovirus, every second is crucial. My puppy lost 14,400 seconds of treatment when it mattered MOST! If you want your animal to be seen urgently. This is NOT the place to go. Please look elsewhere BEFORE considering to take your animal here. ESPECIALLY IF ITS URGENT! With that being said . . . the treatment he did get while there was exceptional. The first 24 hours I was worried due to my general impression of blue pearl upon arrival and what initially happened. This place is ok to go to but I'm not sure about their triaging skills. We brought our 14 year old dachshund in after an oral surgery. He was laboring for breath and coughing. We pretty much so knew it was pneumonia. Dr Jansen was awesome and explained what they were going to do. I liked the fact they didn't charge me for chest X-rays as he has just gotten some at our primary vet. She also sent to a radiologist to read so she wasn't chasing a diagnosis. When we left, we weren't sure if our furry best friend would make it. We were crushed but extremely impressed with not only the regular updates from the vet, but we could call any time and get an update. After two days of intense therapy, our lil buddy got to come home. I took my pet in here was told that he needed emergency surgery and was being sent to tampa. We waited over 3 hrs later no one cared enough to come draw his blood. Finally I complianed and then finally we got his blood drawn bur too late for surgeon. The lady in brandon said the surgeon kept waiting for us to get there and we kept waiting to be released. My beloved beagle was brought here after he collapsed and was brought to the emergency animal hospital. We wanted to see a specialist to get a definitive diagnosis before making any decisions. Upon entering the building, the receptionist wouldn't even look my mother in the face or greet her. Then when asked to speak to her daughter on the phone because she was too distraught to communicate what was happening, the receptionist rolled her eyes and answered as if she could not be anymore bothered than at this very moment. After getting the grim news that we ultimately had to have our beagle put down to spare him from any suffering, we opted to bring him home and have him euthanized where he is most comfortable. When the receptionist was approached and asked about the information for Lap of Love, she couldn't be more unprofessional and rude. 10-23-2021 This morning at 6am i accidentally hit a cat that was running across the road, after seeing the cat still alive my first instinct is to call the first open available animal hospital to take this poor creature to. I called them first and explained my situation... the man on the phone seemed very interested in helping me, I told him that if I took this cat there will they told me any updates?, he said yes. After releasing the cat over to the vet they had me sign a paper and when I asked what it was they said it was to release them to doing any medical treatment, nothing else. I called back later today to figure out what was going on just to be told that I can't know anything about the cat, if she lived, if she died, if she was saying anywhere else, anything. eventually I made my boyfriend call back and pretend he was the owner of the cat. I left the state, and after initial treatment plan didnt work, Dr. Otte refused to work with me beyond that because she is too incompetent to read scientific lab reports done elsewhere, as her excuse is "iT WaSnT DoNe hErE, aNd I dIdNt SeE PeT".... Because apparently visualizing my pet would change the blood results? She then proceeded to tell me she cant call in scripts across state lines (which I never asked for to begin with), but yet she calls in scripts to online pharmacies daily not in her state. She's clearly not a bright specialist. Dr. Otte is a robot, then only thing she did was the procedure to send samples off. I got my results from a lab, and she clearly has no idea how to work with those results. I got the feeling from the beginning when I was preparing for a "whats next" approach in case results came back inconclusive, and she wouldnt provide me with answers. She also refuses to talk to her clients, she lets her nurses do all that for her, under the guise its her as they dont introduce themself as any different over the phone. I know this specifically as once I figured out it was a nurse, I asked for Dr. Otte. I was told she left and she couldnt magically produce her doctor, yet when I talked to Dr. Otte days later and informed her of what her nurses were saying over the phone, she informed me she was sitting right beside her. These are the types of lies you'll encounter with this group at BluePearl in Brandon FL. Do yourself a favor and go to the one in Tampa or seek another avenue. Bluepearl was amazing. I had to take my pup in for what I thought was a deep cut that needed stitches. They were very quick. Took him back, shave his leg. Scrubbed the wound and put medicine on it. They said he didn't need stitches, thank goodness. Then they said I was good to go. No charge! What! I was amazed. They were very friendly staff. I will definitely go back if ever in need again. read more
