I live in New York City and have tried all the hot cafes down here. So, believe me, Bluestone Roasting makes some of the best coffee around. Whenever I'm upstate, I always make a point of going in for a cup of some of the best coffee I've ever tasted. Not only are the drinks out of this world, but they make the best waffles I've ever had. The staff is friendly and if you become a regular, they will definitely remember your name and how you like your order. Friendly service and great juices. I purchased the Carrot Ginger, and you can tell it was fresh and juiced correctly. A lot of other places with these ingredients use the wrong machines and it is pulpy and overly sweet toward the bottom, this juice was not. They have very good coffees as well. The espresso coffee drinks were not good at all. Very thin tasting coffee with an awful aftertaste - as though it was the bottom of the coffee pot in a church basement. Pretty good bagel but considering this is a coffee shop that specializes in roasting, I was very surprised by the lack of quality coffee. read more

Now this. This is a decent spot right here. I'm by no means a coffee expert. I'll tell you that right off the bat. I don't think cappuccino is anything a grownup should put near his mouth. And latte? Come on. So I'm not gonna review that part of the business. I like a good cup of fresh Joe. from time to time I like to try different roasts. Some days light. Some days dark. I dunno. Now these guys roast their own. I don't know fair trade from a cat's behind, but this guy does. He gets the stuff from all over the world. Zanzibar. I didn't even know that was a real place. I thought it was from Harry Potter. So yeah, they roast it, grind it, brew it. Fantastic. And not stupid pricey. You could drink it there or buy some to take home and give to your ma. And the food. Oh my god. I mean it's simple - paninis, wraps and that. But it's good, consistent and again, not stupid pricey. Their lox burrito is a thing, lemme tell you. And that macaroni salad - I could eat that all day and then a little at night. And they're open from like 7 to 7 every day. That would kill me if I had to do that, but it's nice I can count on that when I'm passing through town. And there's room, you know? It's not like a usual cramped little coffee shop. There's room for like at least three bloggers and their laptops at any given table. But there's also lots of nice, regular people around. Good atmosphere, nice chit chat. friendly. read more

I love the people here, they're just so nice. This is our go-to cafe for freelance working, reading, or just hanging out for a while. Coffee is good (get the Bluestone Blend!), and I love the tea selection too--try the Boulder Blue. Also love the sandwiches, my favorite is the avocado sandwich with sriracha honey (YUM). Wi-fi is a Time Warner hotspot, so you get one free hour and then you have to log in with your TWC password (we have one, so no biggie). Service can be a little slow, but it's a nice vibe in my opinion--they never rush you out. Try their seasonal latte options too. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday - four of us and a service dog. Sat down to look at menu, then went to counter to place order but no one showed up. I saw employees walking around taking care of various tasks but no one came over to acknowledge my party's presence or take my order, so we went to the Saugerties Diner, which was perfectly fine. read more

When I first moved to Saugerties in 2006 there was no place to have A decent cup of espresso. When you went to Woodstock and Kingston there were places to have espresso but not as good as what I'd like. Then Bluestone opened. They roast their own coffee and made it possible to have a perfect cup of espresso. They have a full line of fresh roasted coffee beans to be purchased. THE WORST!!!! Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with my daughter, my boyfriend, and a friend who was visiting. The girl working the counter had a horrible attitude when we asked if we could sit and have lunch. She snapped at us that we had to order at the counter and took half our order and walked away. After we all finally ordered, we sat down and awaited our food. After quite a long wait, only my friends dish came out. The rest of us (including my 6 year old daughter) sat and watched my friend enjoy her meal with nothing in front of us. Our food did not come out until my friend was completely finished. After our food came out we had to wait even longer to eat it because we were not given silverware! Needless to say at this point we were all aggravated and starving. We quickly finished our meals that we waited too long for. On the way out we said "thank you" to the same miserable counter girl.. who ignored us. The food wasn't bad, but the HORRIBLE customer service ruined the entire experience for us. We love supporting local businesses and go out to eat regularly, but we will not be returning. My husband and I came to this coffee shop after having breakfast at a different place that was within walking distance (for the latter, the barista came in over half an hour late, just as we were about to leave). As soon as we stepped into Bluestone Roasting Co. we lamented not going there first. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming with many selections in coffees, smoothies and other non coffee drinks. My husband had a cafe au lait, and I enjoyed hot Nutella. Both were fabulous. As we were full from breakfast we did not partake of their food menu (which looked good). The coffee was very good and I liked the option of getting a cup to go or, if you are sitting down to stay for awhile, you can get a ceramic cup and help yourself to all the free refills you want. The service was excruciatingly slow. It took over 20 minutes to get a grilled cheese sandwich in an almost empty coffee shop. I was told that the first sandwich was "overdone" because they "weren't paying attention". It is true that the two men at the table next to us -the only other individuals in this place- certainly received a lot more attention and were served immediately. Perhaps they were regulars or friends of the owner(s). When my sandwich finally arrived, it was so greasy that I had to blot it with paper napkins. It came with an unappetizing looking side of macaroni salad, which i didn't bother to taste. I had to flag down the server to order, as well as to pay my bill. I'd return to get a well-brewed cup of coffee to go, but won't be eating here again. read more
