I went to celebrate a birthday and I had a coupon, which was really generous of them, but the food was so bad, it wasn't even worth it despite the discount. They start you with bread, which was tasty. I had the clam chowder, which was bland and sad. I also got the octopus on the waiter's recommendation, and it was inedible. I've had octopus many times, so it wasn't that I don't like octopus. This was chewy like rubber and tasted super fishy.... I actually couldn't eat it. The husband had fish and chips, which he said were ok. They were super nice and brought out a birthday dessert, which is much appreciated, but after this meal, I had to (try to) unsubscribe to their email list because I can't imagine going back again. (Also, their email list wouldn't let me unsubscribe, I tried several times and yet I still get their emails). I know this is just my one experience, so hopefully you have a better one! read more

Had a great time with friends. Very loud atmosphere was nice because we are loud and sometimes feel the need to tone it down but not here. Drinks were good. My wife ordered a cucumber mint mojito however the bartender previously made a drink that muddles a serrano chile and it caused my wife's drink to be very spicy and unfortunately she can't do spicy. They remade it but that's careless and shouldn't happen. Crab cakes were delicious but very small portion. Same with my ahi tuna salad. Flavorful but very small portion. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food and portion was better except my wife she got the seafood pesto and the scallops were way over cooked. Nothing to egregious to stop us from coming back but not up to par for what we paid but fish is very fresh and delicious. read more

Had the opportunity to be in midtown Phoenix and have dinner at Bluewater Grill after an absence that resulted from retiring and not being in the area. We were thrilled that the same warm greet beckoned us in as we were sat immediately a light comfortable well decorated dining room and were tended to with drinks and our order. My Grilled Trout Almondine was as delicious as I remember and the accompanying sides of sautéed green beans and augratin potatoes were delicious. This did not stop me from playing the Wife Card and dipping my spoon into my husband's bowl of yummy creamy clam chowder! As he kept his eye on my wandering spoon he noted that his Salmon on a cedar plank was perfect and offered no bites to me! Being tended to so well by waitstaff and management topped it off as a perfect meal! Thank you Bluewater Grill for your consistency! Your attention to details is top notch, the cooking is perfect and the details reminds us that this is a well trained staff. We will most certainly add this restaurant to our rotation list again. I had the Rainbow Trout with the Tropical Fruit Salsa and the sides Yukon Gold Skin on Cheddar Mash and the Coconut Jasmine Rice. We also tried the New England Chowder and the Key Lime Tart. We were happily surprised by decent seafood in the middle of the desert. Prices were very reasonable, our server, Sean was nice and patient, and the atmosphere made me feel like I was in a fishing village. First time at Bluewater Grill. We arrived at 6:00 for a 6:30 reservation on a Friday night and were told it would likely be 6:30. There were about 20 people waiting for a table. We were seated at 6:20, so a good start there. The decor inside was very cool. Several pieces of glossy, nautical artwork, several 'trophy' fish and cloth sails here and there. Nice ambiance. Our server, Edward, did a good job of greeting us, serving our needs and keeping our glasses full. The menu was a reflection of the seafood restaurant that it was designed to be. They had over a dozen appetizers, from oysters to fried calamari to salads, several 'daily'' fish options and numerous other fish and shellfish dishes, along with a couple of red meat options. My wife ordered the French bouillabaisse, which had mussels, shrimp, scallops, clams and fish, all in a savory and hearty saffron seafood broth. It was accompanied by a rouille (toast with red pepper smear). She also got a side of sautéed spinach. I got the sautéed sand dabs, scalloped potatoes and sautéed spinach. Our drinks arrived in less than five minutes, along with a decadent sourdough loaf. Both dinners came 12 mins later and were exactly as we expected. I can't speak much for the bouillabaisse but my sand dabs, which I hadn't had in years, were succulent, with a perfect lemon caper beurre blanc. The scalloped potatoes had a wonderful Parmesan crust and creamy sauce. In all, our meal, including drinks, was $81.18 plus tip. I would've paid much more for that excellent meal. read more

Great place for group gathering. We had reservations for eight people to celebrate my mini me graduating from college. Our seating was immediately available once we checked in and our server was a great guy. He was so nice and attentive and gave great recommendations throughout our time there. The cocktails are great and I got the Napa gin & tonic and it was very refreshing and light. Mini me ordered the jalapeño artichoke dip for the table. We all agreed it was delicious with the chips it came with as well as the warm bread served to our table with butter. I didn't capture everyone's orders but here are some of what was ordered that I got to taste and liked everything. We found them through Arizona Restaurant Week and since then have always loved them. WHAT WE LOVE: Oysters, Clam Chowder, Seared Scallops with/Roasted Jalapeno Aioli, Wedge Salad with Bacon, Bluewater Roll, Senorita Roll, Gemelli Pasta with Shrimp & Scallops CLAM CHOWDER: Their Clam Chowder is one of the best I've had locally in Arizona. So creamy and thick with a good amount of clams SEARED SCALLOPS: If you have been following my reviews, I am a sucker for scallops because they are SOOO difficult to cook perfectly. These are SOO delicious and the jalapeno aioli just puts them over the top. They are not chewy and perfectly cooked. RAINBOW TROUT AMANDINE: My husband ordered this the last time we were there and although the flavor was good, there were an AWFUL lot of bones that he had to pick through for his dinner. This week the Bluewater Grill had a special evening with a half order of each Cioppino and Bouillabaisse with two glasses red wine. First let me say the service was great and service fast. My favorite - hands down, was the Bouillabaisse. OMG!! - it was so incredible in how the flavors came together - not over the top but such wonderful warm mixture of spice and herbs and seafood and broth. I dipped my bread to make sure I scrapped every drop from the bowl. The red pepper toast served on the side was incredibly good as well. The Cioppiino - in my estimation - left a little to be desired ... it just didn't grab me and make me say it was incredible. It was ok, but had I never had Cioppino before, I would probably never order again based on this. It wasn't bad, but just lacked a kick to make me love it. Both were loaded with generous amounts of seafood. Only complaint - both bowls were brought out at the same time - and with two of the three diners having the special, the table was quite crowded and the soup that sat on the side cooled quite a bit before we were ready to eat it. I would have preferred they come out one at a time. The Chianti served was very good. Overall - a great evening with great food. read more
