Finally tried this place out. I had the chicken and waffles with a root beer. I didn't know that I was going to get chicken strips, but that's my preference anyway. The chicken was very tender and the coating was light and crisp. The waffles were super fluffy and tasty. I would only recommend some more seasoning on the chicken, not sure if it was even seasoned. And I'd definitely get a little bigger condiment holders, not enough syrup or hot sauce for the chicken or waffles. The guy helping us was great!

Spork is special! I will get to the food but first let me tell you about the concept, which is…read morepretty unique. They don't take reservations, which usually annoys me but here it works. When you get there you get in line, but this is no Chipotle (no shade on Chipotle). While you are in line, one of the staff will ask you what you want to drink and will bring it to you so this makes the line much more bearable - and we enjoyed the unique cocktails. Also, while you're on line you can people-watch, take in the cool decor, and decide from the enticing menu. Also, while you're on line, one of the staff will find out how many are in your party so they can start strategizing about where to seat you so you don't have to worry about scrambling for a table. When you get to the front, you order, and they give you a number and they seat you. The line can be long, but it moves, and as I mentioned, you may have a cocktail in your hand to help you get through it. Now to the food. It's a fusion of Asian and Mexican food, very unique offerings. The trouble will be deciding what to have so I recommend sharing if you're there with somebody else so you can try a lot of things. We had the peanut tomato curry with chicken, the spicy fried chicken, the side salad, and the pièce de résistance, which was the carnitas sandwich. You can have this for dessert, it's so rich and delicious. Everything was good and the curry was also a standout. We really enjoyed Spork!

I had the Dan Dan noodles and once I started eating them I couldn't stop they were so good! When you get there get in line and they will come get your drink order and give you a menu, then you get to the register and place your order and they will take you to a table. The service was spot on and attentive but not over done. There is also a great drink, beer and mocktail menu that has tasty beverages! Very family friendly with a great kids menu and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Awesome little booths and great places to have conversation. We very much enjoyed Spork!

We sat outside in the heated tent with our fur baby - they are dog- friendly. Food & Service are fantastic! Lives up to reputation for being best Brunch Spot in Bend. Hubby had classic Eggs Benedict that he said was very good. I started with a warm Chai and a Bobbin for Apples Mimosa which was magical. Having read the reviews I was prepared to order the stuffed croissant French toast. Last minute change of heart- I ordered the Gobbler, a roast turkey sandwich on a croissant with a flavor profile reminiscent of Thanksgiving. The sweetness of the fig jam played well with the poached pear, savory turkey and peppery arugula. Dessert will have to wait until our next visit. The pastry counter at the front of the restaurant displays cinnamon roles, scones, muffins and impressive cakes. There's even a marionberry and white chocolate bread pudding that would make a wonderful brunch choice.

I love this place! Plenty of draft beer choices, great food, and great service!…read moreThis is a very lively, fun place where you can go to chill after work, play, or just exploring the area while on foot. Food: Really good artisan cuisine, this is way better than typical "pub-fare" Their pizza is amazing too! Grab a beer, get some grub, and grab a shirt before you leave. You must go there when you're downtown window shopping. Prices: $$ What you'd expect for such a great place! Parking: This is downtown, so before rush-hour, it's not bad (be mindful of the parking time posted on the signs). You probably don't need reservations, I never have, but if you have a large party, might be a good idea! Very enjoyable!

When the busser came to clear the plates, she asked how everything was. I said good except the Mac was not great (and was basically untouched). Her disdainful reply, looking at it, was "well, that's a lot of pepper." The pepper wasn't the problem, and being snide to a customer who hadn't complained or asked for anything despite my disappointment in the dish was unnecessary and rude. On the plus side, the beer was good and what I expect from Deschutes. Given that there are a bunch of brewery restaurants within a few blocks, I would have expected more flavorful food and absolutely a better experience with the staff.

Bad news. Good news…read more Bad news first is this: The Drake has been sold to new owners and TONIGHT, APRIL 12, WILL BE THE LAST DAY OF SERVICE at The Drake with the original owner and the current menu. So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. In the meantime, I remember how fun and delicious it could be to eat at The Drake.

Definitely acquired a place so probably good. We didn't bring the kids.

Discovered Zydeco Kitchen from a local that gave us the best dinner recommendation! We immediately…read moreswitched our dinner reservation to this spot, and I'm so glad that we did. I wasn't expecting to find southern comfort food in Bend, OR, but Zydeco is truly exceptional! My partner and I arrived early and started with drinks at the bar. Hostesses were kind enough to seat us as soon as a table became available, which was well ahead of our reservation time. Our server was a little odd, but quirky isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just a little strange when they ask whether you're ready for the goodies. Our goodies included the bone marrow as an appetizer and for entrees, the jambalaya and redfish. My partner loved the bone marrow, but it was a little too much for me. I wasn't a fan of the texture, but the presentation was nice. The showstopper for me was the jambalaya. I've never had something so tasty that kept me coming back for more! It wasn't overwhelmingly spicy and it had a good mix of seafood and sausage. Highly recommend Zydeco if you're looking to dine out in downtown Bend!
