Her wedding flowers were showcased on her website as well as on her Facebook page. I really liked her style. I emailed her and got a response right away. This was around the summer season so she was really busy. I let her know I was having a smallish wedding and described my color theme, coral and navy. I only needed a few key pieces to brighten up the outdoor space, some big arch flowers, a few boutonnieres and corsages, as well as my wedding bouquet. I didn't have a wedding party since it was so last minute so that was it. She sent me a quote for a very reasonable rate. I was a bit nervous about the flowers because I have not previewed what they would look like or what kinds of flowers she would use. I just sent her my payment and hoped for the best. Fast forward to the wedding day. I had the flowers delivered to the venue in the Seattle Laurelhurst neighborhood. My wedding planner said they arrived on time and were in perfect condition. When I arrived and first saw them I was really impressed. The flowers were simply gorgeous and so me! I wish I had ordered more flowers! The colors and flowers she selected were bright and refreshing and my bouquet was the perfect size; not too big or small. I have never met Kristen before and we've mainly communicated through email which was super simple. She is easy to work with and didn't cause any unnecessary stress. I decided I wanted to make all my own centerpieces (25 total in 5x5 glass cubes I found on CL), my own bouquet, my bridesmaids bouquets, and all the corsages and boutonnieres the day before the wedding. Ambitious, but was completely doable with help. About 2 weeks before the wedding, I went to the stall and talked to Tong. I chose a $5 bouquet with various huge dahlias in reds, oranges and yellows (perfect lucky colors for a Chinese wedding!) and asked if he could make 35 of these. No problem, Tong replied with a friendly smile. The one day before the wedding, my BMs and I drove down to Pike at 8:30AM and picked up all the flowers, which were ready in boxes for us. All we had to do was take them home and cut them down to size and add water to the vases. If you have the help arranging, take advantage of the great resource of flower vendors at Pike Place. The flowers are freshly cut, already arranged, local, and prices are better than florists. Especially around peak wedding season in late August and September, dahlias in many colors and varieties bloom readily in Western Washington. Will definitely come back to Tong to pick up a bouquet for special occasions!
