I found this place trying another salon and WOW so happy I found them! All their products are cruelty free and chemical free. Other salons will say this then offer you products that don't align with my values. I was able to book an "at home service" within a few days. Jenn is an absolute doll! We had some miscommunication about what I wanted for my hair and she came and finished the job on her day off! Obviously wouldn't had been a thing if we were at the actual salon! I have found my hair haven in San Diego. I'm new(ish) to San Diego and took a chance on this place after discovering Mia's Instagram account. She is DA BOMB and I am so happy to have found my hair guru in SD. She's super creative with a sweet personality to boot. I always get compliments after I go see her. She's the best!! Actually booked a blow out with Rochelle (who is also awesome and you can schedule her online!) one Sunday night, which was great because I needed an appointment on Tuesday but the salon is closed Mondays. Getting your hair done at Bluxom means you might be stopped on the street by strangers telling you how great your hair looks and asking where you get it done. At least that's been my experience. My stylist, Marchelle, does a perfect ombre with balayage highlights that look soft and natural. And the last time I was in the salon, another stylist was applying extensions that were indistinguishable from the client's real hair. I recently was able to follow my stylist for many years, Siobhan, as she opened her own salon in North Park! Previously, she was specialized in cutting and I am glad to know that now Bluxom has opened, she was also able to transform my haircolor! I am a redhead by choice and on Saturday, Siobhan created the most perfect strawberry blonde color I have ever had. She formulated the perfect shade and I could not be happier. The new product lines they are offering are perfect for my extremely fine hair and I was happy to know that they are cruelty free. It's the most amazing thing! Right as I left the salon - after having a spectacular cut with Jen - I bumped into Ryan Gosling who immediately proposed to me and gave me a gorgeous 15-carat diamond ring. THEN, I got a call from work and learned I was promoted to CEO of the company. And THEN, I bought a lottery ticket and won the Mega-Millions jackpot! Okay. Not really. But all ridiculousness aside, Jen did give me the most killer haircut and I had a very relaxing and wonderful time at Bluxom. Marchelle and Siobhan, owners of this beautiful new space, have done an amazing job at making it a very welcoming and calming environment, while still making it a fun place to be. Back to the hair - Jen has cut my hair off and on for the last several years, from bob to my current mid-length grow-out. My hair is fine and, despite some natural wave, it sometimes seems flat and lifeless. Jen has a way of making it bounce and shine. Siobhan is the best! I've bounced around a couple of different salons around town trying to find the right stylist. I've been going to Bluxom for almost a year now, and I can't seen myself getting my hair cut at any place else. From the very first appointment where Siobhan actually sat down and asked me about my hair objectives, I have been pleasantly surprised by how much attention and care goes into each appointment. I have been very satisfied with my haircuts. And, let's be real, Siobhan is a cool ass chick! So, I definitely don't mind spending a little time to get my hair done. I do have to say I have never gotten anything else done aside from cuts, so I can't attest to any of the other services they offer. The prices are on par with comparable salons--not the cheapest but definitely not the most expensive. Totally worth it in my opinion (trust me, I have had occasions at other salons where I went home totally unhappy about my hair cut). The salon is located in a small complex, and there is a limited number of parking spots. I've never had any problems finding a parking spot though. I will start off by saying I'm extremely biased (and honest ;-P). Siobhan has been doing my hair since the age of 15. I have fine hair with medium sized curls/waves, which is a tricky combination. I'm constantly battling between frizz and flatness. I live in San Jose and about 5 years ago Siobhan relocated to San Diego. So for the last few years I've had to trust my hair to the hands of a different stylist. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed going to her, but it didn't compare in the slightest. Once Siobhan and Marchelle decided to open up Bluxom, I KNEW I had to check it out. I've been looking for a new salon and being new to the area I really wasn't sure where to go. This salon was recommended to me by a friend. I booked an appointment online and couldn't decide on a stylist so I let them choose one for me and decided whom ever I was to see would be great. And it was! Jennifer gave did a beautiful job on my hair. I loved the whole experience! I like how easy the consult was and I felt like she really listened to my hair needs experiences, and wants. I never felt pressured. I have very fine and wavy hair and was looking for a new style and different options in styling my hair after leaving the salon. The shampoo smelt heavenly and loved the scalp massage. It was Bliss. She showed me a different way to dry my wavy hair and showed me how to use the product efficiently. I went in last week for a grey cover up and highlights. I did the consultation with Mia and when she asked me what I need my hair to say about me, I said "professional". I am a VP of a national corporate bank and recently laid off. I explained I needed highlights around my face to make my appearance younger and I needed grey covered to make me more competitive in interviews. She applied a gloss and highlights. When all was said and done, grey hair was still visible and when I pointed this out she told me it was "stubborn" and my highlights aren't to my roots. It looks as if they have grown out and I am in need on new highlights! I do NOT look professional or competitive. I did call and share my feedback with Dawn, who was great and understanding. I was told I could come in for a "Fix it" job but I don't want to over process my hair and I don't feel comfortable going back. I have 2 stars because Mia has recently graduated beauty school and I am sure I am probably her first customer in North Park to ask for a grey cover job. Despite disliking my look Mia was amiable to speak with..she needs to focus on what the customer wants going forward, asking questions if she doesn't know how to process hair, and fixing it when the customer points out that what they asked for wasn't accomplished. read more

Went to Rochelle for the first time. Found her on Instagram and after reading so many positive reviews, I decided to get a haircut from her. She was sweet, listened to what I wanted and was honest about the look I can achieve with my hair texture. Was scared to cut too much off but just listened to her and ended up really happy with my haircut. I have super fine/thin frizzy hair.
