First time here- just happened to walk by and I'm so glad i did. Even tho i was full from the tacos i just ate, we order the loaded fries and OMG so good!! Coming back for the brunch and Dave, the bartender was great!

Went here for brunch on Sunday for the first time and it was SO good! You order at the counter and take a table marker which are all celebrities or funny images which was great for my group. The Burnt End Skillet was a hit at my table - SO good! Also got the cookie skillet to share which was so delicious too. I love that there's a rooftop patio too, will definitely come back to go sit up there.

Came here during restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised. The brisket sandwich was amazing honestly better than a lot of well-known BBQ spots, and I couldn't stop talking about it. The restroom decor was really cute with graffiti-style walls. Just a heads-up that it's a walk-up and order restaurant with self-serve drinks and silverware, not traditional table service. They also have a rooftop, but it was too cold when we visited to check it out.

Stopped in for the first time on a cold Friday night, and the chicken pot pie was delicious and warmed me up. The crust was fluffy, flaky, and just perfect, and the inside was filled with plenty of chicken and veggies. I didn't particularly care for the large onions, but they didn't take away from the overall flavor. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice. I'm looking forward to returning to try other menu items.

For our first trip to OurHouseKC this was quite the experience. It was a little hard to get to, but we made it. For lupper we decided on: 1 Chili Mac Cheese Add Sour Cream - this actually had a great flavor all around. 1 Bob's Burnt End French Dip Remove Chipotle Mayo. (The only thing that was forgotten was the au ju for the sandwich). 1 Cousin Crew Pie (hubby said this was a chocolate cream pie with whipped cream and yummy to boot) 1 SmokedCuterie Platter no onions, extra pickles please- My husband saw this on the menu and thought I would like it, and he was not wrong. It was enough for two meals. Burnt Ends - I added on to the platter, and the burnt ends were fabulous! 1 Fresh Fruit- was not bad, I tossed the bananas out though, since my tummy does not agree with them too well. Other than that the berries(minus the strawberry stem) were a wonderfully refreshing compliment to the meal. This is definitely one to keep in my KC Munchies collection. If you are visiting KC, this is the spot to check out for Fabulous BBQ.

The place has a super cool vibe to it with a bar off to one said and different types of seating. We grabbed some menus and a booth and took our time trying to decide what we were going to eat. We decided to get the smoked cuterie platter since it gave us a little bit of everything. The meat was so flavorful and tender. We also got a totcho to share. The tots were perfectly crispy and very well seasoned. The smoked chicken was perfect on top. The cheese was super melty and the sauces were perfect. I will definitely eat here again.

This is a cute coffee/breakfast spot. They also have a full bar upstairs. You can quickly order drinks or food at the counter and find a table. They bring everything right out to you! I asked the bartender what drink I should get and he did not disappoint with his recommendation!

DELICIOUS! Loved the rooftop patio- lots of places to sit with umbrellas. Very nice and attentive staff downstairs (where you order then they deliver it to your seat).

I've been wanting to come here for so long and we finally got to try it over Mother's Day weekend. We showed up a bit early before they opened, but luckily we were able to go into their connected coffee shop. The staff were nice enough to let those who were waiting go ahead and have a seat and peruse the menu. The three of us ended up choosing 3 different kinds of mimosas, which were on the strong side (which I was DEFINITELY okay with), and I ended up getting the Santa Fe Skillet. Don't let the small size fool you, this was extremely filling! Everything was delicious. I tested my mother-in-law's biscuits and gravy and they were very well-seasoned and comforting. My husband got the Waker Combo and we were so impressed with the portion sizes! I would say it can get a bit pricey, but by the end of the meal, we deemed it definitely worthy of the price tag. We can't wait to go back and checkout their rooftop area.

Our House was on our short list of new places to try. After navigating the construction and finding parking a couple blocks away, we finally made it. There's a sign on the door directing patrons to an available parking garage nearby, but it was too late for us. Didn't matter; we needed the walk anyway. We were given some menus to peruse and had a seat in a booth to decide. At the counter we ordered the OurHouse KC Burger, a KC Club Sandwich, Bob's Burnt End French Dip, and a Personalized Pasta. Sides are extra, so we also chose the Triple Wide, a shareable appetizer that had fries, tots, and homemade chips with dipping sauces. This thing was the hit of the table. I just don't know if you can get anything better than 3 types of crispy potato and flavorful sauces to dip them in. Plus I had to order onion rings because that's how I roll. Everything was very good. Two of my dining companions were picky people in their early twenties and even they did not complain about anything. Wonders never cease.

Amazing food, great service! Always wanted to visit Our House and so glad I did! You walk in and order your food, they will give you a musician themed stand for your order (which I thought was so cool!) and then you find a spot to sit. The space is very spacious! Overall I would visit again!!

    Jaden L.

If you like a flakey buttery top of a chicken pot pie, this is your new "goto" place. It is one of the best pot pies I have had in a long time. I wish it was a little more creamy inside but the chicken and onions were on point. Also got the Carolina pulled pork sandwich, wasn't anything too special. Needed a little more carolina mustard taste in the sauce in my opinion. Very friendly staff. It's casual, walk up and order. We got there at 530 on a Friday, we ordered with little wait but the line was forming after us. They have a patio but didn't explore that much. I will be going back. The staff and the pot pie gave them 5 stars.

My wife and I shared the meat lovers breakfast burrito and it was good size and filled with the filling. The sauce on top had a little kick to it but that could have been the veggies on top, but would get it again. Our friend got the breakfast enchiladas and said it was very good, she likes the green sauce over the red. I didn't personally try so I can't say how it was. My son ordered the traditional breakfast, and that's exactly what it was, but he liked it. The pancakes are the size of the plate and had a fluffy center and crispy edges. We did have to ask for more syrup because they were so big. The only reason it was not a 5 was because I felt the waitress could have been around more. I felt that since we had a group of 7 and the gratuity was already added she didn't worry about it. Our waters went empty and we had to ask a different waiter for more water and syrup, when she came over the water was warm and didn't have any ice. A kid spilled her syrup we went and asked for a rag and we cleaned it up which we expected but we had to flag someone down to see if she could get more syrup. I just felt she wasn't as attractive as she could have been. We went there on a Monday around 9:45, so it wasn't extremely busy. I would say that you should try it, it was good food!

These biscuits are stacked so high and loaded so heavy, you'll need a game plan, a fork, and maybe a pep talk from your server (who, by the way, is probably the nicest person you've ever met before 10 a.m.). To step through its threshold is to surrender to the siren song of warmth that curls from the oven like a whispered secret. I have made it my pilgrimage to traverse the entirety of their menu, a culinary odyssey that has yielded no false steps, only a symphony of consistency that borders on the miraculous. Each offering, from the flaky, golden architecture of their pastries to the robust, honest comfort of their savory fare, is a testament to the artisan's hand. Here, affordability is not a sacrifice of quality but a generous invitation, a rare confluence where the exquisite meets the accessible. There is a certain magic in the air at McLain's, a sweetness that feels woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It is a place that understands the language of comfort, speaking it fluently in the dialect of a perfect crust or the rich, dark notes of a expertly pulled espresso. It is perhaps no surprise that such a bastion of authentic delight has garnered a reputation that extends far beyond our local borders; if the standard of excellence is high enough to grace the plate of Taylor Swift, then surely, it is more than enough for us, the grateful residents who claim this treasure as our own. Yet, beyond the flour-dusted counters and the glowing glass cases, my deepest admiration is reserved for their spirit. In a world that often measures worth in cold, transactional metrics, McLain's chooses to honor those who pour themselves into the future of our community. As a teacher, I feel that recognition in the small gestures, the welcoming nods, and the genuine appreciation they extend to educators. It is a profound kindness, a recognition that the work of shaping minds requires nourishment, both intellectual and literal. They understand that a classroom is a marathon, and they act as the essential pit stop, providing the fuel that keeps the light of inquiry burning bright. To dine at McLain's is to participate in a ritual of belonging. It is a place where the passage of time is marked not by the ticking of a clock, but by the turning of the oven trays. It is a reliable heartbeat in the neighborhood, steadfast and true, offering a reprieve from the clamor of the outside world. Whether one seeks a quiet moment of reflection over a cup of coffee or a celebratory feast that honors the simple, profound joy of eating well, McLain's remains an unrivaled steward of taste. It is not merely a bakery; it is the living, breathing soul of Waldo, a place where every bite serves as a reminder that some things in this life are exactly as good as they ought to be.

A few months ago my sister and I hosted a baby shower for our other sister and after looking around an options we decided to go with McLains. It was a smaller group, and we were doing a brunch theme, and our sister LOVES sweets. That paired with our desire to support local, and our shared love of McLains, this was just the most obvious choice. We ended up ordering a cake and first of all I have to say their cake flavor choices are insane - I think we settled on a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling (YUM), but I don't think you can go wrong here. We also ordered one of their pre-set pastry bundles for pick up and honestly everything was wonderful. I think I placed the order about a week out and it was ready when I came to pick it up. What pushed this experience into five star category for me? Just the friendliness of the staff, the serving tools they send you home with, and how thoughtful everyone was. The food was also really just exactly what we needed and it was so good there were hardly any leftovers, I think the kids cleared us out by lunch! At any rate, if you're on the hunt for a great spot to support for your next brunch event consider McLains - they won't let you down!

My out of town guests love them too when I bring them here. I'm here to rave about their weekend only croissants. You can only get them on Saturday or Sunday because it takes a days to ferment and laminate the dough. The quality of their ingredients shines in even the simplest plain croissant. I'll occasionally venture into the chocolate or almond version. They rival some of the best I've had in NYC, SF or Paris. In KC, the only other rivals can be found at French Market or Sour Rabbit Bakery. I'm glad their croissants are weekend only so I can have them as an occasional treat. I find their other pastries, especially the tarts, biscuits or scones are also lovely. For a baked goods focused spot, I'd say their cold brew is also pretty great quality as well. Usually I'd go to another coffee shop for a fix, but I'm okay grabbing both a croissant and cold brew here.
