This is our first time here and it was really good. We had hummus and pot stickers which were fantastic and the service was great as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was very casual great for groups and single singing as will.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Biscuits & Gravy with over medium eggs

Not your average biscuits & gravy! I'm not a huge fan of sausage gravy, but Dott Boss put a new twist on it. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the potatoes were delish. Waitstaff was very attentive, and friendly.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nothing truly spectacular except the space, which in itself is both timeless and trendy especially for a restaurant attached to a hotel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The black and white checkered floors and the large dark heavy wooden bar with shiny brass accents take center stage whereas, the food fades away into the background.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have been here a few times and each and every time no matter what I order I leave unsatisfied. A solo diner of overpriced salmon proved uneventful even though the spicy jam component was so yummy I did have to ask for a side of it to make the rest of the lackluster meal worth eating. For around $30 a plate I want to feel like some thought was put behind my food here it seems to just be put on a plate and pushed out. Also, tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and try it with a friend for happy hour. Even worse. Just stick with the regular menu, the hummus tasted like sawdust- literally grainy and under seasoned and I've had some pretty fantastic hummus around. Nothing at all stood out as worth ordering again except the Gouda aranici and the jalapeño cheese bread was alright but, could be more decadent. What shines here, other than the decor, is the seasonal cocktails are usually quite inventive. But, one missed the mark for me. It was a take on a French 75 with earl grey tea infused gin however, the gin seemed to not be properly strained and contained loose floating tea particles and was quite muddy and unappealing in color. The drink itself was too concentrated in an unpleasant herbaceous flavor and I needed it to be topped with more brut to balance it out, luckily it's no longer on the menu. Case in point, if you are staying at Hotel Indigo or if the other restaurants in the area are insanely busy then sure it's fine. But, I can only recommend with good conscience staying for some cheese stuffed fried rice balls and a speciality seasonal sipper and then finding supper elsewhere.

Want to love this place as it's adorable inside, but it's honestly hit or miss. Went here once with a group of girlfriends, and had a great time - good music playing, tasty cocktails, and the bartenders were attentive and quick. The other visits were a bit of a let down, and food was just ok. Came in another time (hour before close) for a couple drinks with my boyfriend, and before we could even order a second, the bartender kept rushing us to finish because "they'll be kicking everyone out soon to close". Not a great look, but everyone has those days. Overall, come here for the drinks, but the foods worth skipping. Anytime I drive by they seem to be closed, so maybe it's a staffing issue.

We were staying at the indigo hotel and decided to try out the restaurant attached to it. I have no idea why it wasn't packed because it was DELISH!! The ambiance is clean, friendly, full of tvs but fine dining at the same time. We started off with the poutine and it was delish! I had the nachos and it was sooo good. I asked for no pico... the chef himself came to our table and asked if it was okay to have jalapeños in the meat. It was so thoughtful for him to ask and check. Really showed how much he cared The kids had the rosemary steak and devoured it. There was nothing left My husband had the smash burger and wouldn't share. That's how good it is.

Dott boss for the win! This place is like an old school diner turned up 3 notches. Food was so good!! This French toast did not even need syrup the jam on top and fresh berries were delicious!! Great service too!! Waters were full and coffee was so good! It was perfect after a night out at power and light!! We will be back !!

An incredibly pleasant surprise ending to a great weekend in KC. Received a voucher from the connected Hotel Indigo for a complimentary breakfast and we could not have been more pleased with the experience. Our adorable waitress Juanis was so friendly and clearly proud of the establishment. The strong Parisi coffee was great and all of our food was expertly prepared. I had the eggs Benedict sans the spinach and unlike what others have written here found it to be OUTSTANDING. In particular the hollandaise was rich and delicious with the butter browned to perfection. This will be a must stop on future trips to KC.

    Spicy Bloody Mary's

Great Saturday morning breakfast! We started out having Brittani make us two spectacular spicy bloody Mary's, then followed by two perfectly flavorful vanilla cappuccinos. We decided to try the breakfast tacos, and shrimp and grit benedict with a side of breakfast potatoes. What a delightful flavor combo for both entrees. The sweet chili oil that finished the tacos added that punch of flavor to put them over the top. The plating, aroma and beauty of the shrimp and grit breakfast was on point. The combination of tang from the sauce sweetness of the grit cake and spice added at the end made this breakfast my favorite!!

I'm a BIG breakfast person and you've really gotta wow me. Cute restaurant, super clean. Incredible staff!! Thank you Juanis for our absolutely fantastic service both days from staying at Hotel Indigo. Food was brought out hot and fresh and GREAT size portions. Eggs were fluffy. Potatoes were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Bacon was crispy and ham was hot. The home made pancake with home made jam was insanely delicious. I'm craving it just writing this review!

The All-American and a Vanilla Latte

Restaurants in Kansas City with both excellent breakfast selections and craft coffee drinks are in short supply. I have been on the hunt for a while. I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this wonderful spot on my way somewhere else one Sunday morning. The only downside is parking and I think that was only a problem for me today because I'm here on a chief's versus bills Sunday and there's a lot of chiefs and bills fans in local hotels. I often frequent this area of downtown for a Sunday meeting and I've never seen so much traffic. I do wish they had more than vanilla to choose from for the lattes but the All-American was my selection and it was perfection on a plate!!! I really also wanted to try the Eggs Benedict and Breakfast Sandwich but I could only choose one!! I'll be back.

Wow! I am so impressed with the flavors and quantity of these items. The potatoes were so crispy and seasoned perfectly. They had a slight garlic and Parmesan flavor with parsley flakes. The sourdough breakfast sandwich was flavorful from the tomato and bacon and the bread was also crispy. The cinnamon roll was SO GOOD and not too heavy. The prices are a little high but the quantity makes up for it. I went around 11:30 on Saturday and it wasn't super busy. The waitress was friendly and attentive for having to manage all the tables herself. It also wasn't loud which I always appreciate. I would definitely recommend this place for a low key brunch and I will be back!

Drinks we got: - No Fly Zone - Off the Rails - Mr. Collage - Mescal Espresso Martini I got a cocktail caviar bump which - YES! Appetizer burritos complimented everything. That changed yesterday, when Diana Condori, the bar manager, was named a 2026 James Beard Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service semifinalist. As we love supporting restaurants and bars that receive that kind of recognition, my wife and I headed to Fern Bar that evening. I was especially curious what exactly a "sugarcane and agave bar" meant. We arrived around 5:30pm and found only a handful of guests inside. After congratulating the bartender who first served us, he mentioned that Diana was working that night and would stop by to meet us. During our conversation, Diana shared that she didn't even know she had been nominated. She woke up Tuesday to a call from owner Bryan Arri, who said he had big news and was coming over. Her first thought was that something terrible had happened--like the bar had burned down. Instead, he showed up with coffee and told her she was a James Beard honoree. Diana is originally from Bolivia and has lived in Kansas City most of her life, with the exception of time spent in San Francisco during the pandemic. She further refined her cocktail craft through local pop-ups in Kansas City under the name Condor's Cove. When Bryan was preparing to open Fern Bar, he reached out to bring her onto the team. The printed cocktail menu immediately reminded me of the Monarch and the Mercury Room--not surprising given Bryan's background at Manifesto and the Monarch. Thoughtful, intentional, and clearly designed for people who appreciate serious cocktails. We planned on having one or two drinks but ended up staying for three, thanks to an outstanding lineup and a memorable conversation with Diana. We tasted: * No Fly Zone - Rum, agave, pineapple foam * Mr. Collage - Smooth, elegant, egg-white cocktail * Three Negroni Lunch - Bitter, boozy, and beautifully balanced * Pendergast No. 4 - Complex and spirit-driven * It's Bananas - Banana liqueur with bright tropical notes * Off the Rails - Creative and well-executed rum/agave cocktail One downside of many cocktail-forward bars is the lack of food, but Fern Bar offers two varieties of mini burritos for $4--just enough protein to keep things balanced while indulging. Great concept, exceptional service, and truly memorable drinks. Check it out--and be sure to say hello to Diana.

The space is smallish but they do have bar seating in addition to seating throughout. The service was friendly and the drinks were great. They don't offer food, but they do offer cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. I went on a Sunday and they have a special menu called "Almost Monday." It's a smaller, simpler cocktail menu and the prices are very fair compared to other cocktail spots. I tried the Caipirinha (pineapple) and the Negroni sour. Both were good. My favorite between the two was the Negroni. It had a pretty color and wasn't too sour or strong. I'd def recommend it and get it again. Definitely stop in and check out this cute spot in Shawnee.

When you arrive there is parallel parking available outside the bar. When you walk in you'll feel like your bright, vibrant, and feels incredibly welcoming. Also, they have some really fun drinks as well that have been thoughtfully put together. We ended up sitting at the bar and I started with the Reformed Porn Star (vanilla vodka, bronson's tropical milk punch, passion fruit, Prosecco, citric acid and popping boba) which was by far my favorite drink and felt like I could have drank a couple more of these. Second I tried the Neo Cosmo (white rum, strawberry, cacao, coconut, rose hip, lime, bubble) which was good and was a fun drink with an ice cream shaped cup and a bubble on the top (meant to look like an ice cream cone). If you are in the area, this bar is a must try, the bartenders were awesome and took good care of us.
