I have always had a great experience here. We popped in Monday night for dinner and I was excited to see the Fried Chicken Special! We ordered drinks and appetizers. The Bar program is innovative with lots of unique house infusions, shrubs, and local products. Drinks were delicious ( Stardrop and Shrub & Bubs NA ) as well as the House Fries and Bone Marrow appetizer. For dinner i ordered The Half Bird Fried Chicken. I enjoyed 3 of the pieces, took one home and my date had the other piece. All 5 pieces arrived out piping hot, crispy, bone in and flavorful. I loved the herbed butter and skipped the other sauce as it was too spicy for me. The other entree we ordered was the Coulotte Steak. It was recommended Med-Rare and was perfect. Dessert was exquisite. We shared the Marshmallow Pecan Beiget. It was a single fresh made doughnut with a block of toasted Marshmallow. I've written a few Yelp reviews for Fox and Pearl over the years, but wanted you to see what's being served on the current menu. Our server Paige took great care of us all evening -- friendly, attentive, and helpful without hovering. Drinks were a strong start. My wife enjoyed the Rittenhouse Rye, and I went with the White Mezcal Negroni, which was a fun twist on a classic. We mixed it up more than usual with our food order. I typically go straight for the Smoked Pork Chop (and probably will again next time), but this visit I decided to try the Chicken Tagliatelle. No regrets -- just a reminder of how much I love that pork chop. We loaded up on small plates to kick things off: the Pickles, Potted Cheese, Mushrooms, and Carrot Soup. The "pickles" are more of a seasonal vegetable assortment than traditional pickles, which made them more interesting. The mushrooms and the soup were absolute standouts -- rich, comforting, and perfect for a chilly evening. For entrées, we ordered the Courlette Steak and the Chicken Tagliatelle. The steak had great flavor, though it came out a bit more done than the medium we requested. The chicken pasta was hearty and satisfying, and I'm glad I gave it a try. Dessert really stole the show. The Pudding Chômeur was easily the highlight of the night -- warm, sweet, and incredibly comforting. Total crowd-pleaser. The Almond Cherry White Chocolate Ice Cream was also a big hit at the table and a perfect way to finish the meal. Another memorable dinner at one of our favorite spots. had the best experience at fox & pearl last night we started with the carrot soup, which was super flavorful and comforting, paired with a spicy toasted bread that balanced the subtle sweetness of the soup perfectly. i also had the agnolotti, and the filling was amazing cheesy with fresh veggies and such a smooth texture that paired beautifully with the sauce. everything is locally sourced, which makes the experience feel even more intentional, and our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. definitely a spot i'd come back to read more

Love love love Fox & Pearl. I usually dial in on a favorite menu item at restaurants and order that repeatedly. Since the menu at Fox & Pearl is changing constantly (due to seasonal availability of locally sourced ingredients) I'm typically trying something new each time. While the menu is small, especially for vegans, there's usually a salad in the small plates section - I've tried 3 or 4 versions at this point and all were delicious. There are two sizes ($8 or $14) and the larger size is generous enough to eat as my meal. read more

I'm conflicted with this review as part of our meal was exceptional and the other just meh. The location and setting was super unique with a mix of plants and decor that is a mix of a library and speakeasy. The service was just odd, the hostess and bar staff were indifferent at best and appeared to hate their lives, our waitress was great though. The small plates were outstanding, mushrooms, fries and charcuterie were unexpectedly good and exceeded my expectations. The charcuterie doesn't include cheese which seemed odd to me but wow, the combo of meat and veggies was outstanding! The steak was our main dish and was fatty and lacked flavor. I've had much better steaks for the money. They are known for their pork chop which was our other main dish and for me was overcooked, dry and chewy and while smokey lacked flavor maybe because it was overcooked cooked. I was so excited to try this place and felt a little let down. I made a reservation for a birthday and marked that in the online reservation. We also told the waitress when we were seated that it was a birthday. Some places don't do anything, so I wasn't upset until we saw that the table next to us was celebrating an anniversary and had a special note on the table. Not a huge deal, but something would have been nice. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful, even helping to make some menu recommendations. There is a designated parking lot that was easy to use and find so that was a plus. The dinner itself was good. We started with the cheese curds, which felt pretty standard. There were also a few surprise fried pickles mixed in. I don't eat beef or pork, so my options were limited but I was excited to try the Beet Penne. The pasta was delicious, so many things going on but they all worked together! I would definitely return if I saw something interesting on the menu, I feel like I can count on this place to knock an entree out of the park. Things took a turn when we got to dessert. We ordered an ice cream flight, and it came out with a hair on it. They took it back and made us a new one, but not a great start. We also ordered a creme brûlée ice cream that was supposed to be torched. When they brought it out, they didn't say anything about not torching it and when we asked they said that they didn't have the torch in the kitchen. They didn't really offer to bring anything else or take that scoop off the check. For a nicer place like this, I think I just expected a bit more and the issues with dessert put a damper on the whole meal. read more

Went to Fox and Pearl because my son-in-law chose brunch there for his birthday meal. The experience was truly top drawer. There's nothing fancy about the place, but it is comfortable, hospitable, and most welcoming. The four of us started with cocktails, all choosing a cocktail we had never had before. We all were quite enamored by the cocktails that were unique to this establishment. Food was excellent all around and was quite reasonably priced. Instead, I've ordered off the Night Goat BBQ menu - Fox and Pearl's blue collar alter ego - which is available on select days. Craft barbecue with a hint of a southwest influence cooked low and slow over oak and hickory with a sweet sauce on the side. Meat plates, tacos and sandwiches are available. Super sides like potato salad, cheesy grits and smoked jalapeno slaw are, too. Feel free to pair your meal up with an adult beverage option from the fully stocked bar. I came here for a special event with queer dinner club. Walking in we had a complimentary charcuterie board which was delicious, I loved the pickles. I wanted a mix of some small plates so I ordered shishito peppers, fries, and the farro salad. The peppers were perfect for a fresh taste, the fries were super seasoned and flavorful with the classic salty, sugary, peppery seasoning. You definitely have to be okay with a ton of seasoning. Lastly I was looking forward to the farro salad but it was extremely salty and fake smokey. It overwhelmed even my palette which loves salt and bacon. The fruit was even super salty and smokey so I couldn't get any relief. It made me sad I couldn't finish it because it looks beautiful and the textures and pecans were great. My wife, daughter and I, visited Fox & Pearl while in KC for the weekend. I did not closely review the menu before going, but was fully expecting access to BBQ. However, that was not the case and I take full responsibility for not being proactive by going to their website for a deep dive. Instead, we had access to the dinner menu. Items on the menu seemed interesting. We started with a few drinks. I enjoyed an Old Fashioned and Witching Hour. Well balanced and very good. For food, we started with the Potted Cheese. It was tasty and pair with a very good sour dough bread. The Farro Salad was good. Grilled Chicken Wings - not very the best in our opinion. They should be fried to make them crispy then sauce. We were underwhelmed by the food and decided to pass on entrees and desert. The vibe of the restaurant was lively and fun. Service was excellent. Better for drinks over food I'd say, for dinner. Holy Meat, Batman! We were lucky enough to score tickets to an incredible meal at the Night Goat collaboration with Swade lunch. The meat was perfection and needed no sauce, however we had to partake and enjoy the mustardy Carolina-style goodness of one of the two sauce choices we had. The spicy slaw was a great kick and paired perfectly with the pork and the flank steak. But I can't forget the pickles, which were way better than grandma's! The mocktails were colorful, inventive and very tasty. I love this restaurant and the communal vibe. Went to this place for a bach party and it was a hit!! we were seated in the basement, which is a dark medium sized room with a bar. It kind of reminded me of a speak easy. The only comment i have about that is it seemed a little too dark. It was hard to see our food when it came out, which was not a huge deal but something to note. A few more lights would be nice! The food was delicious!! overall, we did not have any huge complaints with the taste or presentation. The only thing i did not enjoy was the NA pina colada that tasted like an old bitter pineapple drink. It was not super cold and was a small cup for being a mocktail. Besides that, the waitress was kind (she even took a picture for us!!). Our favorite was the charcuterie board which had pickled veggies and various meats. Definitely worth the price. My better half and I celebrated our anniversary at Fox & Pearl as first-timers at this wonderful spot! Situated in a lovely part of town, 30 seconds off I-35, and in a gorgeous, historic KC building, Fox & Pearl was a wonderful place for us suburbanites to celebrate a big occasion! We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, but were promptly shown to a lovely seat by the windows. As we perused the menu, we were offered some champagne to start our meal, which was a wonderful idea! The menu is straight-forward and easy to navigate: about a dozen small plates and a half dozen entrees. We decided to order a few small plates to start with, all of which were outstanding! I think the biggest "good surprise" was the carrots and beets dish, which had a rich, smoky undertone to it, and a really lovely, fresh cream sauce! We also enjoyed the bone marrow dish (awesome!) and short ribs (delectable!), and then felt it was time to try an entree. We shared the ravioli, which was absolutely fantastic! Super creamy, the opulent cheese really stood out. My wife tried one of the handmade cocktails, which was really bright and fresh as well, and had a super-unique flavor profile. By middle age, it's pretty rare to feel like you're tasting a new flavor profile, so it was quite the treat! Did the brunch pop up for Night Goat (I've previously been here for dinner before). I was delighted by the drink options (the michelada was good! Spicy!) The menu looked really good but the food was unfortunately subpar. (I feel like the idea was there, but the execution was flawed) the slaw is good, spicy, and ginger wasn't overbearing. The hotdog was a miss..bacon was soggy instead of crispy, the dog was cold and lacked flavor, and the bun was a soggy mess from the juice of the pico. The flank steak was dried and chewy (in a bad way) the pork sandwich was good, bun needed toasted a little longer so it didn't get soggy from the wet of the slaw. The pork belly tacos were great, the pork belly was cooked perfectly, like the Montreal style cut in the seasoning (very good flavor!) who doesn't love Carmello tortillas though?! Some of the best products out of Lawrence. The staff was great, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is fantastic, great lighting, plants, and color scheme. read more

Really cool hip spot on the outer edge of the Crossroads. Walking in I really love the design of the place and the ambiance they set with the lighting, it's very relaxing and has an upscale menu so it's a pretty cool experience. My partner and I stopped in on a chilly weeknight so the place was not too busy. We sat in front room which has great big windows to do some people watching or just enjoying the city life from. We had the flat iron steak and the rabbit pot pie. The rabbit pot pie was pretty damn delicious. No gamey flavor just warm hearty pot pie goodness with a beautiful homemade crust on top. Really great meal. The flat iron was not bad, I ordered it medium rare and they nailed the doneness perfectly. One thing I personally was not a fan of is that the steak is served on the cool side. I realize that this was intentional and supposed to allow more flavors to come through however it wasn't mentioned on the menu or by my server. The red wine reduction also didn't quite come together for me. A bit bitter imo. Personally I wouldn't order it again as a steak lover. That said the meal otherwise was really great including the roasted bone marrow which was a big hit with my partner and I. The atmosphere is honestly one of the best--chic but still cozy, with beautiful décor that makes it feel special without being overdone. We started at the bar since we arrived a little early for our reservation, and I'm so glad we did. We got several small plates, including the blistered peppers, the mixed green salad with pickled watermelon, and the heirloom tomatoes, which were good but not special, and the roasted carrots, which were the standout dish. The right amount of sweet, soy saucy goodness. And the kimchi is the perfect match. We almost ordered a second order but decided we'd try the Grilled Denver Steak--which was really just ok. For the main course, I chose the ravioli, which was rich and satisfying. A wonderful farm to table experience in KC! Heavy emphasis on farm to table bc we ended up sitting next to one of the featured farms, Hemme Brothers! We had to get dishes with their cheeses so we did the bread and cheese dip to start which was fantastic. So creamy and a little kick in it which we enjoyed. For our main dish we did the Mezzaluna and it was amazing. It is a small portion so the appetizer was a good idea but it didn't feel heavy at all like most pastas do. The service was great, our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and patient with us. The place itself is so cool. We loved the decor and ambiance. The best thing about this place was it really wasn't that expensive for what I would say was fancier food. I'll be back! read more

After driving by Fox & Pearl and following them on social media to drool over the beautiful plants in their window, I finally made it inside. This place is sexy. Plants galore, mood lighting, spiral staircase, vintage decor. It's the perfect date spot or for drinks. I would recommend a reservation because it always seems like it's hoppin' inside, bar seating seemed to cycle pretty quick. As expected, the food and drinks were stellar. They even have some fun N/A drink options. The menu is seasonal, so it's great to have new things to try. With tomatoes in season, we devoured the heirloom tomatoes and fried green tomatoes. The butternut squash ravioli was the star entree for me. Of the food, I will say - the portions are tiny. Like shockingly tiny. Everything looks a lot bigger on Instagram I guess. For two people, 2 starters and 2 entrees left us feeling hungry. Expect to have to order a lot of food! At least it's an opportunity to try more of the menu! So we were pleased with everything except for my flank steak. It was flavorful, but it was very tough; quite disappointed with that dish. The fries had too much seasoning and were heavily salted. We wanted to check out their basement, where you can also get drinks, so our server was sweet enough and checked if any seats were available for us. The basement area was neat; it felt like I was in a wine cellar. The bartender was great, very personable, and attentive, and kept checking if we liked our drinks. A group of ladies came in for a weekend brunch. We were sat in the back patio and it was beautiful. The sun was out, but the trees were just enough that we were shaded for most of the time there. It was a hard decision, but I ordered the French Toast and was happy I did. The cinnamon-orange syrup and strawberry compote was an interesting sounding combination, but it did not disappoint. After looking around at all the menu choices, I definitely want to come back and try more. Everyone was happy with their meals and the service was amazing, even for such a large party!
