I was scheduled for knee replacement surgery and realized I would not be able to safely enter my home post-op without some drastic changes. I had no clear path for me plus a walker. I had no sit-down areas for myself or caregivers or visitors. After a phone interview we scheduled a session to which It was suggested I invite one trusted helper. This session was to have been for 4 hours. While Tracy and my friend cleared the parts of my house most important for my recovery. I was instructed to work on another area, my bedroom. As the 4 hour time limit was about to expire, Tracy announced that she could work another 2 hours along with my friend,while I went off to an appointment. When I returned I found several restored work areas,a good deal of open seating, and miraculously, wide clearances for me and my walker! True, much of the "stuff" that disappeared went into marked boxes to be sorted later. This was fine with me as I had a long recuperation period ahead and the sorting would give me something to do. After surgery, I find I am able to navigate safely through the most important areas of my house. This will make my recuperation and recovery so much easier! As I progress through subsequent phases of this work I can see that I will probably need more guidance from Tracy. But what I have learned is that much of this can be done by myself alone. I found Tracy in the midst of the Christmas season. I knew I wanted to get my mom a special gift that would empower her with a new skill set (like organization!) instead of giving her another item to park in the garage or stuff on the shelf. My mom has always had a desire to be organized but was never equipped with the tools for how to effectively and consistently achieve this goal. Tracy is a miracle worker. My husband is a hoarder who hasn't gotten rid of anything, ever. Within 15 minutes of her being in our house, she had worked her magic and he started sorting. I found Tracy when I was searching for ideas on you tube about how to organize my office. After watching a few of her tips videos, I found her website and filled out the contact form. I was surprised she contacted me so quickly and we talked for a while that day. Right away I could tell she would be able to help me. A few days later we had our first coaching call and I was very motivated by Tracy. Within a few days after that I had cleared thousands of old emails from my accounts. In one account, I started with over twenty thousand emails and have cleared it down to about 1800. I have continued to make more progress in that area. I have also purged countless papers and old files, and I now have systems set up so that I know where to put things. If you don't solve the root of the problem, which is not having a place and a system for things, you cannot solve the symptoms. Even though I am in Texas, I have been helped tremendously by having the accountability and motivation that I would not have had on my own. Just fabulous. Through the years I've used a number of organizers and some can be painful to work with (they hand you every little thing and ask "Where does this go?") and some can be ineffective (one left me with a whole row of boxes to deal with in the hallway where it sat for nearly a year until we moved it to storage). Tracy, however, is in a class by herself. Miss Organized is what I would call a "full-service" organizing service. Great communication, great advice, and great work as well as a great resource! Everything Tracy, Miss Organized, did was spot on. From the moment we made contact she sent me info to read, resources, advice, etc. It was all optional reading but I appreciated it was there and I read it all. She told me what to get for our day of organizing and it wasn't a last minute, day before, email but one that gave me plenty of time without scrambling. Terrific, prompt communication and a great resource. I felt like I had hired a "big gun" on my team to destroy clutter! Then when she came, we worked in parallel in different spaces. I had hired her to do my kids' bedrooms and she worked in there while I worked elsewhere in the house under her direction. I really liked that because I like working on my own but like the feeling that someone knowledgeable and supportive is there for accountability and direction. I also liked not being asked all day what to do with a particular item! I find all that decision making exhausting! The bottom line, after two sessions with her, my kids' rooms look like new spaces. My kids are 3 and 5 and she put them to work explaining the importance of them helping and learning how to organize. We all worked side by side for 5 hours. was really reluctant to see a professional organizer for a few years. I was always thought "I don't need somebody to help me organize my things". It didn't help either when I would tell my boyfriend about consulting a professional organizer he would say "I'll do if for you!" (Which Tracy later told me is a common theme with couples). I kept going through cycles of being really organized to being really messy until I couldn't stand it anymore, I knew there had to be a better way maybe if I set up some sort of system. So I gave in and called Tracy, she was amazing and she taught me so many things over the phone even before she told me about her programs and systems. Just after our first session so much has changed, the energy in my house has shifted, an extra house guest left a week later (on good terms), I had more energy to put into my business and personal life, I didn't feel overwhelmed after a networking event or workshop where I would come home with tons of notes and contacts. I believe myself to be fairly organized and definitely a minimalist. However, when my mom moved into a nursing home, I suddenly acquired mountains of paperwork, furniture, momentos dating back to pre-1900 (because SHE had acquired my grandfather's "stuff"). I think that it's fair to say that my mother and my grandfather were organzied hoarders (because everything was well-labelled). I called Tracy once I hit a breaking-point. I couldn't look at my second bedroom which was stacked floor-to-ceiling w/ "stuff," nor could I look at the five-foot-tall pile of tarped boxes in my backyard that wouldn't fit in my second bedroom. Tracy came to my house last Friday and spent the first hour talking me through my attachments to these boxes and the guilt that accompanied my discarding. I learned and processed so much in that hour that by the time we dug-in, I felt brave enough to tackle the mountain. Four hours later, I had a car full of stuff for the Goodwill and a recycle bin filled to the rim. Tracy got right in there and helped me sort and directed me to my next task. Although exhausting, we accomplished an incredible amount in a relatively short period of time. I think that Tracy's support being right next to me and giving me clear, concise suggestions made this process work. She became both my teammate and my coach. I can now make even more progress on my own by doing a little at a time. I know that I'll need Tracy back to walk me through the last of it when I have to make the toughest calls on what stays and what goes. Tracy worked with my daughter several months ago to organize her room. She was very detailed in her pre-arrival planning in discussing what our goals were. After I mentioned my daughter had ADHD around focus issues Tracy offered that she felt she could be extra useful working with my daughter because of her own experience in that area. She suggested that her time might be best spent if my daughter assisted her, to which I readily agreed. Tracy arrived on schedule and worked with my daughter throughout a long day organizing and purging. The results were somewhat remarkable and the difference when finished was like night-and-day. My daughter enjoyed the experience and purged stuff that she had considered before and just needed an extra push. Important also is that the framework of what Tracy worked to achieve has stayed mostly intact in the ensuing time and my daughter probably could replicate again with a 30 minute to an hour touch up. Summarizing, Tracy did a phenomenal job and was very pleasant to work with. She seems very dedicated to her craft and I would highly recommend her. Though I had little to measure it on other than calls to others for pricing, Tracy is by no means inexpensive, in fact she ended up being more than a hundred dollars more than I was anticipating calculating her planned time and the time she ran over.
