we needed to repair and replace a broken t pipe at the corner of our screened in porch. we had estimates from three plumbers and bmw was not the cheapest, but certainly the best. they arrived when scheduled, got to work immediately, and fixed the underground broken pipe so that we would not have flooding problems. the work took most of the day and they were polite, experienced and professional. plumbers are unionized and can be expensive, but this job was accomplished efficiently and well. we are thrilled we used this company! read more

Renewed my contract with new owners of BMW plumbing make an appointment and they never wrote it down. Not a good start for new owners

For the last 5 years I have had a persistent problem with flooding in my yard whenever it rained. In the summer, I had a puddle on my sidewalk. In winter, it was a sheet of ice that little kids would have to walk across to get to school. I consulted with everybody, and they all wanted to dig up my yard, re-route my sump pump and charge me low 5 figures to do the work. Then I had the pleasure of meeting with Mike Dixon, the owner of BMW Plumbing. Mike spent an hour surveying the issue and had a hunch that there maybe be an abandoned line where my sump pump ejected. The next day he had a crew dig deep, and his hunch was right. His crews found the pipe which was abandoned years before I purchased the home. It was abandoned because it was filled with roots (see pic). Well his team not only found the line, but were able to clear the old clay pipe and now my water flows to the sewer as it should. No more puddles, no more black ice, no five figure excavation of my yard, no more sleepless nights. Had them out to move a sprinkler head because we were having some concrete put down in the back yard. The technician literally placed the sprinkler head an inch from where the edge of the step was marked by our contractor so I had to get them out AGAIN to fix it. Several months later I called about getting the sprinklers shut off for the season, and the person who took the call was instantly rude to me saying they had been trying to contact me. Well they were e-mailing my Dad (who had died and who was the original homeowner) even though I had asked them to change the account information. My Dad had been a customer for over a decade at least. They claimed they sent bills to me via the mail, but if they did I never got them (since they conceded they had the wrong e-mail I should have questioned what address they were sending things to). At any rate I offered up a credit card instantly and tried to move on from the hostility I was getting, but the person on the phone was STILL spectacularly, over the top rude. Be nasty when someone refuses to pay, NOT when they are offering you a credit card! I have already found a new company to work with and advise you do the same. SAVAGE RUDENESS...SHAME ON YOU HORRIBLE PEOPLE In response to the lengthy diatribe from the owner (below) I have to laugh. Never once did I raise my voice, and I think it's funny that you are calling me a liar with regard to the fact that yes I am saying I did not receive all the communications you say you attempted (you admitted you had the wrong e-mail and if my VM was full obviously all of your communications were not received). Also, it's not like I was refusing to answer my phone, I teach and often am unable to pick up my phone. In addition, I provided you with payment so the very idea that you are suggesting that you had to claim it as a loss is utter nonsense. It was not my intention to make a late payment and I acknowledge that it was late. On the call I explained that I did receive one bill in the mail and thought it was a mistake because I thought I was being charged for the correction on the incorrect placement of the sprinkler head. I also admit I forgot about that bill because I truly did not get a follow up bill and I don't really care if you believe it or not. The minute you said the correction was not what that bill was for, I offered to pay without an ounce of an argument. After I gave you my credit card number you proceeded to restart the surly attitude. Finally, you speaking about my deceased parent in a public forum and your comments about how he would feel about his daughter is next level disrespect and I would think anyone reading this exchange would see what kind of combative (not to mention appalling) attitude I was getting from you on the phone and steer CLEAR away. Thank you for publicly proving my point and for your concern about my sprinkler needs, I've already had the entire matter taken care of by a very helpful and responsive company. read more

I called BMW for a 2nd opinion after Roto-Rooter was recommending expensive repairs for a sewer line partially blocked with roots -- jetting and installing a sleeve. BMW inspected my sewer line, told me those repairs were unnecessary and rodded out the roots, all in just an hour. Obviously I'm relieved and I appreciate BMW's honest assessment. read more

Did adequate work (to date). We will see if any problems arise during the warranty period. This company was ridiculously expensive and kept increasing the price as the work was being performed. I talked to some plumbers after the job was completed and was told that the price for a minor repair (about one hour of work) was very excessive. I also had to ask for the warranty and had to ask to add the warranty period to the bill. read more

Mike from BMW Plumbing actually helped me troubleshoot a leaky kitchen faucet over the phone without even sending over someone for service. I came home one afternoon to discover significant pooling of water underneath our kitchen sink. I figured this was going to be a major service needed from a plumbing company. Upon calling BMW, Mike actually took the time to have me go over to the sink and trouble shoot a few basic things first. It turned out his first instinct of screwing on the pull down handle more tightly did the trick. So technically even though I did not have BMW onsite, they solved the issue for free. These guys are professionals and out to do a good job, and not just make a quick buck. read more

We have been using BMW for a few years now due to their impeccable customer service , knowledge, and diligence. Last week, we had a gas leak discovered by our exterminator. The fire department had us call our plumber. BMW was out here within 30 minutes and were extremely thorough helping us identify our issues and went above and beyond to check everything else while here. Picture this: it is a Friday morning after a significant snow storm. Work is closed due to snow. You flush the main floor toilet and hear what turns out to be the dulcet sounds of sewer water splashing on to your Christmas decorations. This was the start to my day this morning. We bought our 1922 craftsman home about a year ago and we are still new enough to the area that we don't have a regular plumber. I panicked and texted my husband and asked him to find a plumber while I tried to move our stuff out of the line of fire. My husband called BMW around 10:30. Around 10:50, I got a call from BMW letting me know that they'd have someone over in about 10 minutes, depending on the quality of the roads. I want to emphasize a few things here: the roads were not great. There had been snowfall since the last plow pass through and it was pretty gross out. This was also a very short notice appointment on my part. Despite all of those obstacles, BMW had a plumber out at our house by 11. The plumber was very courteous and knowledgeable. As it turns out, our sewer line may be nourishing a beautiful tree. This is poetic but problematic in terms of having sewer water in our basement. Also, one of our pipes is basically Swiss cheese, which is not ideal. However, in addition to being very prompt and courteous, BMW has been very thorough in laying out our options and ensuring that we have all of the information that we need. I can tell that they place a high emphasis on customer service. Because of our Swiss cheese pipe and botanical garden/sewer line, BMW was here for a lot of the day. The final bill was high because it's an expensive problem, but they were kind enough to waive their service fee due to the amount of time they were here. They were upfront about their pricing and I never felt like I was being asked to pay for more than I needed. I have been very impressed with the quality and speed of the service and the professionalism of the company, to the point that I felt compelled to write this review (which I rarely do). I have used BMW plumbing for many years, and they've been fine with numerous other things. Recently I had a toilet that needed a new flapper, and I pysically can't do this replacement any more as I can't get to the water shutoff. BMW charged $45 for the trip out (that's fine). Then they charged much more for replacing the flapper and reducing the fill; the guy was here for maybe 10 minutes. My total bill was $197--for an $8 flapper. Ridiculous! read more

I consider myself pretty handy and like to think I know a good amount about home systems like plumbing, electricity, HVAC. I recently purchased a house, and have had many different companies out to quote various projects and systems for quoting exercises to budget for the future. I have run the gauntlet from an HVAC company quoting me 50K to replace my HVAC system (which is not needed at this time), to a simple gutter guard installation being quoted for $6,000. So when it came time to actually replace my sump pump and ejector pump, I had a couple of companies come out. BMW Plumbing had Mike Dixon come out to quote the job. When Mike arrived, for the first time since purchasing my home, I didn't feel like the person coming into my home was looking to throw a high number at me. Instead he took the time to go through everything, give me an honest assessment, and even teach me some simple maintenance issues with my window wells. He left to go and work up the numbers. He got me a comprehensive quote within 24 hours. It had options sectioned into different proposals. And all of them were competitively priced. I called and scheduled the work. Conrad came out to do the work. It must be a company wide mindset, where BMW plumbing employees come to your house, and while performing their work, they explain everything and offer tips to help you do things yourself and save money. Conrad was the same way Mike was. Informative, efficient, and did excellent work. On top of it, through out the process from initial visit to scheduling to installation, they made me feel as if I was a number one priority, because we had some ran in the forecast. BMW Plumbing is now my go to plumbing company. Background: I have done electrical, gas pipe installation, and general carpentry, and light plumbing myself on my places of residency before. I manage a 27,000 sq ft commercial property that requires lots of contractors to quote and do work. I have seen and done a lot. I don't write reviews very often, once in a blue moon. Being a new homeowner in a not-so-new house, I was really paranoid that my sump pump was broken because it was going off even without rain. I called BMW to see if they could check on the unit and I couldn't have been happier with the service we received. Dan came on site and was not only kind and professional, but extremely knowledgeable and patient with the myriad of questions and concerns we had. The sump turned out to be fine but he still went through every painstaking measure to check and make sure that there weren't issues. He also took the time to give us a detailed quote on replacing our 10+ yr water heater after looking at the current one we have, which he happened to have actually installed with the previous homeowner (happy coincidence!) Were they responsive, you bet. Did they come out on time, absolutely. Were they informative with great customer service, yep. So why do I feel like I was a victim of retail rape? Because they charged me over $400 for 20 minutes of work and a $25 part on my sump pump. I don't care if it was a Saturday night. Charging an extra $200 for that privilege is just plain wrong. Come on guys. You can't get away with this nonsense when your business practices are an open book on the internet. They were excellent but I don't know if I will ever use them again because of this. I had called to ask about a sump pump installation and cost and what was the brand name of the sump pumps they use. The person who I was talking to clearly was irritated with me, and I had asked him that his demeanor seemed like he did not want to do business with me. His response was" your right I dont" can you believe. So I called Roto Rooter and they came out within 1 hour with same type of cast iron pump and cheaper labor costs. read more

I ran into a bit of a garbage disposal stoppage and needed same day service and I called BMW Plumbing. They sent Dan there within the hour as he was in the neighborhood. I am not totally sure how this happened but there was a dime coin stuck in the disposal--how that happened God only knows--seriously how did a coin get into the disposal in the first place? Dan came in assessed the situation, found the problem, extracted the dime and the disposal was clear. He also gave me a lesson is garbage disposal maintenance--although I must admit that it is a bit out of my league. The price was really reasonable $99 for a service call. Dan was both thorough in solving the problem and very courteous--they also gave me a wonderful notepad as a welcome gift. Should the need arise, I would call BMW again. read more

I have been using BMW plumbing since 1994. Over the years they've helped me out of plenty of binds! They've come out on Thanksgiving to repair a faucet that was unable to turn off. They've come out in the middle of the night to address sump pump issues. They've come out to my home while I was out of town to responded to my security system water alarm. And these are just some emergencies. Over the years they've fix toilets, faucets, hot water heater's, etc. They are truly a dependable and responsible organization. At no charge, they've even offered advice on other plumbing issues in which they knew they weren't going to get any work because the property was out of state. I have found their prices competitive and in-line with other plumbers. I always recommend BMW to my friends and they must be happy with them also as they are also repeat customers. read more

I appreciated the responsiveness when we had an issue with our sump pump battery during a weekend and holiday. However, when the plumber came out, I felt he was an "alarmist" and we got talked into doing much more than necessary. He was talking about taking the backup sump pump out (off location) to an expert to assess the issue or suggesting we replace the system. I declined those options, and he put in the new battery and cleaned out the pit. We spent several hundred dollars on that alone but at least not in the thousands as he roughly quoted on a new system. I also asked him to look at our kitchen sink spray because the button kept getting stuck. He gave us an estimate for a new part at a few hundred dollars plus labor. I called a handyman and the handyman saw right away that the spray button wasn't working properly because something was clogged. He got the button area unclogged in 5 minutes. No new parts were required and labor was a small fraction of an hourly handyman rate. Will not be a repeat customer. read more

Mike provided a detailed quote, clearly outlining all options & prices of what they might find as they undertook the job (and they were very reasonable vs other quotes I had). Mike understood the urgency of the situation too. I was quite happy when they were able to come out a day ahead of schedule. The crew was great - on time, professional, & incredibly respectful of the property and plantings they needed to remove. They were happy to consult with me and show me repairs at different stages too (wow!). The office staff was just as professional and responsive, and incredibly easy to work with.
