Charged $420 plus $45 Service fee for slow kitchen drain. Seems excessive - I am guessing I can do better.

I asked SBJ Plumbing to install a vanity sink, drain and water connections. Brad did the install,…read moreand charged $1100 which I thought was high but I paid him right before he left. An hour or so after he left, I ran the water in the vanity sink and there was a noticeable leak. He said he would come back a few days later to take a look. He returned and tightened the connections. I again ran the water after he left, and again there was dripping under the drain so I asked him back again. He came back again and did some more tightening and said it should be ok now. I again ran the water after he left and there was still a drip. I then texted him saying that I would like a refund of $350 of the $1100 he charged because the pipes were still leaking and he had already claimed twice that the problem was fixed when it wasn't. He refused and then tried to gaslight me saying actually there was no leaking. So if you want a plumber who doesn't stand by his work, then this is the guy for you (My response to his comments): For the record, here is the text exchange between Brad and Me (and yes I did say "please consider giving me a refund because I don't want to give you bad reviews"--and that is a reasonable response on my part given that I received service that is below what the average person would expect [i.e. 3 visits by the plumber and the sink trap is still dripping]. (From Craig): Brad, The vanity is still leaking and I can't devote any more time to this project, therefore I am requesting a partial refund of the money you charged me. I think a $350 refund would be reasonable. Craig (From Brad): I disagree, the last 2 times I came over there wasn't even a leak. I have gone beyond being reasonable and in reality I should be paid for 2 service calls. (From Craig): Many would ask for a larger if not full refund under these circumstances. Obviously there was a very noticeable leak after the first visit and a much smaller but still noticeable leak after the next 2 visits. Please reconsider because I don't want to give you bad reviews

$35,000 DISASTER FROM A SIMPLE CLOGGED TOILET!!!…read more We called "Emergency Plumbing" with a clogged toilet in August 2024. After their plumber visited us, we ended up with THREE ROOMS DESTROYED BY WATER AND SEWAGE, costing $35,000 IN REPAIRS that took SEVERAL MONTHS, and then later getting dropped by our brand new homeowners insurance due to the claim! "Emergency Plumbing" happily took my several hundred dollars in payment for "clearing the clogged toilet". They have offered no recompense for causing our massive loss. But, to their credit, they did say "sorry" a couple times. THE FULL, DISGUSTING, DANGEROUS, SAD STORY: In August 2024 I called about a clogged toilet I couldn't plunge clear. They were able to schedule a plumber for early in the morning. The plumber arrived, and first wanted to see my septic tank. He started to hand dig a bit towards the tank. A minute of digging got nowhere, so he decided to come inside and look at the toilet. He tried an auger to clear the clog, to no avail. So, he asked to see the sewer cleanout. We went to the basement, where things were about to go DANGEROUSLY BAD. We located it above a ceiling tile in the finished basement. He held a up small garbage bag and opened up the cleanout... A FIRE HOSE RIVER OF SEWAGE immediately began to spray out onto him and our finished basement. He panicked and asked for garbage cans / bags to catch the sewage river. My wife brought down some large utility garbage bags. The plumber and I held up and filled about 3-4 large bags of sewage over our heads during the next several minutes before the flow finally stopped and he could cap off the cleanout. He reassured me by saying, "sometimes stuff like this happens". We were both drenched in sewage from head to toe. Some had splashed in my eyes and mouth. He started to hand mop up the large sewage puddle with some paper towels. I told him "don't bother, this all will need a mitigation company". He replied, "all you really need is some soap and water". Ummm no. We dried off, shedded clothes and went back upstairs. The toilet still wouldn't drain, so he said he'd drive back to get the larger auger. He asked if I had any toilets upstairs, and I replied yes. He said "OK, you can use your upstairs toilet and shower, just don't use the clogged one down here". He left and I started to shower. After showering I came back down to the main floor to discover that SHOWER WATER WAS GUSHING OUT OF THE TOILET INTO OUR BATHROOM AND HALLWAY!!! More fun! In the second panic of the day, I tried my best to dam up the NEW RIVER OF WATER now FLOODING my main level hardwood floors. I ran downstairs to see even more water now soaking many ceiling tiles and raining onto the sauna and floor. I called the plumber and the head plumber agreed to come join the fun. He arrived, I explain the scene, and he said "Oh no, he should never have told you to use the fixtures upstairs". Oh no! The first plumber later returned with the larger auger. They managed to clear the clog with it. They did some hand mopping up of the now destroyed first floor powder room, hallway, hall closet, and living room. They asked for a check for several hundred dollars, said sorry for the problems, took my check and left. The next day we opted for a water & sewage mitigation company, rather than the plumber's recommendation of "soap and water". Over the next couple days, my wife and kids truly enjoyed watching the hardwood floors, powder room, drywall, and finished basement get ripped out of the house we had purchased just months before. Then we had four days of loud industrial fans and dehumidifiers to hopefully prevent any mold. Then a few weeks enjoying a half ripped apart house, no working first floor bathroom, rough hardwood cuts, nails, etc. Lots of fun for kids and wives alike. The insurance claim process and reconstruction took place over the next couple months. We had to cancel our Thanksgiving party, as we were still wrapping up the rebuild by then.In the weeks after the plumbing adventure, I texted and called the plumber, hoping to get some recompense for this disaster, maybe cover my insurance deductible, maybe even my money back? We talked on the phone once and I made my case. He didn't offer anything at all. Haven't heard from them since. I would love to avoid going to court and just have them do the right thing, make this right for a family of four whose second half of 2024 was ruined by their work. Does anyone stand by their work anymore? 0 STARS - CANNOT RECOMMEND FOR ANY PLUMBING WORK. Maybe the head plumber is good? But whatever junior plumber they sent to unclog my toilet basically destroyed much of my new house. They were arrived on time and were friendly to talk to, though, tiny bonus points for that. ONE QUARTER OF A STAR

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE…read more I accidentally mixed up these guys with J Sewer & Drain Plumbing (I actually think they made their name sound the same to other respected companies in the area on purpose for this exact reason) and gave J Blanton Plumbing a call. The first thing they try to do is get you to subscribe to some BS monthly subscription so they'll come back over and over for more jobs I'm sure they themselves will try to create. I politely decline, and we move on. The lady on the phone gets me setup with a house call that will arrive the next day. Okay, great. They give a two hour or window, 10am-12pm. I get a text after 12 saying they're just now on their way. The guy gets here closer to 1 and goes to check out my toilet. It hadn't been flushing correctly, which is why I called. He flushes it once, literally one time, and immediately starts spouting off a ton of BS about what's wrong with it. "Ohh the vacuum breaker is busted and blah blah blah" look, I'm not gonna act like I have a plumber's expertise or anything, but anyone with any kind of bullshit meter could tell he was just making shit up. I'm still kinda okay tho, at this point, and just want it fixed. He pulls out his phone and gives an estimate. "okay that'll be $2300!" WHAT?!?! That does NOT sound right for a simple toilet repair. He starts going on and on about how because I live in a large building it's not the same as a normal housing repair. How he's going to have to replace a bunch of parts and maybe even tear open the wall to see what's *really* going on. My heart sinks, I'm honestly panicking at this point. I do NOT have $2300 to piss away on what I thought was going to be a simple repair. When I tell him I simply cannot afford it, he stars spouting even MORE BS about how "Ohhh see, no, this is going to be an emergency any day now. I've seen this before. Your toilet is going to have a catastrophic failure and can starting spraying water everywhere. You HAVE to avoid that at all costs." Want to know something? This all happened over two months ago. The toilet was fine, it flushed well enough, it just didn't flush perfectly. Guess that was bullshit after all. I tell him there's just no way i can afford that. He calls his boss who immediately brings the price down to $1700. Wow. That was easy, almost like this estimate is complete bullshit. He immediately pulls up a way to use a lender so that I can do like a 2 year payment plan. He pulls everything up and is staring daggers through me. Reader, I will admit to you that I am not good with these sort of things. Here's a strange guy in my home, standing over me, being really intimidating as I pull up the lender's documents on my computer. He's staring at me and the computer the entire time, urging me to sign everything right away. There's not time to think about my options. Sadly, I signed the papers due these antics. He leaves for his truck and says he'll be back in two hours. Meanwhile, I'm texting my brother and asking him if any of this sounds right, and he's screaming that no this is all wrong. It's all wrong! As soon as he leaves my building, I IMMEDIATELY call the lender and tell them to cancel the transaction. I am NOT paying for this. Thank god the lender had some sense and cancelled it with no problems whatsoever. I call back J Blanton Plumbing and tell them I'm cancelling the transaction and the services and there's no need to come back. The receptionist says that's all okay and no worries. 5 minutes later I get a call back from the man sounding really pissed/annoyed with me and trying to start the transaction up again. I told him flat out I am going to consider other options, and I'll get back to him if I choose his services in the end. We hang up. I decide to go to Youtube and see if I can't diagnose the problem myself and fix it on my own. How hard can it really be? Reader, I was able to figure out the problem and replace the parts I needed. Do you know how much it cost me? $40 ALL IN, one trip to The Crafty Beaver (love them, go there), and one trip to Grainger. WTF!!! TL;DR: -They were going to charge me $2300 for a $40 part. -They act incredibly aggressive and predatory while at your home -They aren't even punctual -They are a SCAM
