I asked SBJ Plumbing to install a vanity sink, drain and water connections. Brad did the install, and charged $1100 which I thought was high but I paid him right before he left. An hour or so after he left, I ran the water in the vanity sink and there was a noticeable leak. He said he would come back a few days later to take a look. He returned and tightened the connections. I again ran the water after he left, and again there was dripping under the drain so I asked him back again. He came back again and did some more tightening and said it should be ok now. I again ran the water after he left and there was still a drip. I then texted him saying that I would like a refund of $350 of the $1100 he charged because the pipes were still leaking and he had already claimed twice that the problem was fixed when it wasn't. He refused and then tried to gaslight me saying actually there was no leaking. So if you want a plumber who doesn't stand by his work, then this is the guy for you (My response to his comments): For the record, here is the text exchange between Brad and Me (and yes I did say "please consider giving me a refund because I don't want to give you bad reviews"--and that is a reasonable response on my part given that I received service that is below what the average person would expect [i.e. 3 visits by the plumber and the sink trap is still dripping]. (From Craig): Brad, The vanity is still leaking and I can't devote any more time to this project, therefore I am requesting a partial refund of the money you charged me. I think a $350 refund would be reasonable. Craig (From Brad): I disagree, the last 2 times I came over there wasn't even a leak. This is the second time I got his help, which was replacing two leaky valves for the washer. The first time was back in 2021 when I got my water heater replaced. I would say his pricing was fair, and the process went very smoothly both times. I called SBJ Plumbing for an estimate on replacing the hot and cold water pipe valves because they were leaking when turned off. It was not urgent, but I planned to replace the washer in the coming weeks, so fixing the leaky valves was a no-brainer. I got on the phone with Brad, and he asked me to send him a photo of the valves. After a few minutes, he texted me the estimated cost. I confirmed the price and called him the next day to schedule his visit. On the day of arrival, Brad texted me asking if he could arrive a few minutes earlier, which worked better for me, so I confirmed, and he arrived just in time. It only took a few minutes for him to figure out how to proceed. He did have to take a few trips to Menards to get the right parts, but it took him just over an hour to complete his work from start to finish. Requested SBJ Plumbing to come and look into a bathtub faucet that stopped working after having a new cartridge installed about a month before. They asked for a picture and gave a very reasonable flat fee for the fix with the theory that the cartridge just needed to be replaced again. I was assuming I would need to replace the entire handle, etc. Brad was very responsive and communicative. He showed up, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Was having issues with my sump pump going on and off. My dad had originally checked it out (not a professional) and said the motor might be burning out. I called SBJ and Brad picked up right away. I explained the situation and he stated it could be nothing because the ground had been saturated from all the rain we recently got or it could actually be something with the pump. For my peace of mind I had him come anyways to check it out and he let me know upfront that there is a service fee for just coming which I was totally okay with (gas prices/peoples time, etc). When he came he checked it out and did confirm what my dad had said that the motor was burning out and the pump appeared to be older. He was able to replace the pump on the spot and now I've had no issues with a constant motor going off. Would call Brad again! read more

Amazing overall experience! We had a slight leak in our basement and was not sure what the problem was or the solution to fix. The only reason I'm giving this another star than I would normally is bc of their prompt service and ability to replace the sump pump as requested. However, the man that came to our house was incredibly rude and disrespectful to my father and mother, responding with short and snarky answers to any of their questions. When asked if he could explain what he had installed and how it worked (they were alternating sump pumps), he said to "read the manual." This is only one example of what occurred. I communicated with Brad of SBJ Plumbing over a weekend about needing rodding done as a solution to a drain overflow and blockage plumbing issue I had in my basement. Brad was kind enough to read the initial text of my plumbing issue and then gave me a reasonable quote along with a tentative time and date to come out to my home to look at what was going on per my request. Brad was very professional, kind/courteous & very attentive to my issue; he responded with a sense of urgency, which I sincerely appreciated. Brad was also patient and kind enough to give me the time I needed to talk things over with my husband before confirming an appointment with him. I let him know I would confirm with him by 12 noon either way on the Monday after the weekend was over to let him know definitively, whether or not my husband and I would need him to come out for service that afternoon.
