This used to be BNC Automotive. The brother sold the other BNC so now they changed the name to Avid's Auto Care. Avid, who is the owner is the nicest person. She is kind, she tells the truth. She has saved me $$$ when I went to the dealer for a recall and they told me I need four new tires. Avid said I had many miles more to go. To the general community and loyal customers of BNC, I WAS a loyal customer to BNC Auto Care (now Avid's Auto Care on Calistoga Road) for years before they damaged my vehicle costing $3k in damages after i had taken it to them for a simple oil change. Just days after the oil change my car began making a ticking noise, I looked under the hood to find the cap off and oil spit all over my engine. I trusted them and brought my vehicle back to them to fix this issue. They said they did and sent me on my way with no diagnosis or invoice. So i took it to dodge for a second opinion they found severe damage to my rockers and lifters due to poor lubrication. Sharing this is not to say that mistakes don't happen but the worst part is they refused to take accountability for their mistakes and i've spent a year dealing with this nightmare. I SUED BNC and I WON my case because i had evidence against them that proved they were at fault and negligent. It's unfortunate it had to come to that. If you are a future or a long time customer you should know that this is the kind of business you are trusting with your vehicle. A business that does NOT take responsibility/accountability for their mistakes, A BUSINESS owner THAT LIE UNDER OATH, as well as a business that does not document important information regarding your vehicle. BNC lost because the owner had no case, no evidence and no proof about what exactly they did to my vehicle, the owner couldn't even name the mechanic who worked on it! It just goes to show you cannot be trusting these people even if you have been a loyal customer for years. NOT A REPUTABLE BUSINESS. So, this morning, took my 2000 Avalon in w/ no appointment to install wiper blades that I could not figure out! From the first phone call to the final checkout, Service was polite, honest, efficient and friendly. I have a Hyundai and needed to have an independent auto mechanic determine if my engine was burning oil. This place was highly recommended by a friend who lives nearby and takes all of his family vehicles there. While my car was being checked, I went around the corner to a nearby shopping center and had a pedicure--pretty sweet! Later, they had assessed the issue and were ready to have me fetch my car. They also informed me of the good news: that this particular issue was covered by Warranty! Since they knew I had to also go to Hyundai and have them do an oil change for their own assessments, they knew it would cost me a lot so they were very kind in reducing my my, reduced my charge in light of that. They were incredibly thoughtful unlike any mechanic place I've ever been to. I will most definitely go back even though it's a bit of a drive for me. Matters here! Brought vehicle in for smog test letting service lady know it had just had part replaced and check engine light cleared. So they attempted smog test knowing the computer was not ready for the test. Charged $60 and told me to drive it 75 to 100 miles to reset ecu, after 250 miles found out from another smog test facility that there is a specific drive cycle that must be done. Completed cycle in 20 minutes and ecu ready to test. Took to retest at BNC and was told they couldn't do it for 5 days when I was told to bring back anytime and they would get it done. So I went to Action Smog which was less expensive and had me in out and smogged in minutes. read more

I brought my car in for a smog. I passed and everything seemed great. The owner was very nice. I got into my car and turned it on. There was an awful noise coming from under the hood, it was loud. I had just driven it to the shop from work which took 20 minutes and there was absolutely no noise. I went back in and the owner called over one of the mechanics. He had me turn it back on and lifted the hood. He said I needed to replace my power steering pump, thats why it was making that noise. How in the 30 minutes it was there did the power steering pump break and how did they not notice how loud it suddenly was when they drove it to the parking lot? Ok, there's nothing we can do right now, it's almost 5 on Friday and they're getting ready to close. I get back in to drive home again and now there is smoke coming out from the hood. WTH I again go back in. Same mechanic pokes around and says I need to replace my valve cover gasket. I have an oil leak which is causing the smoking. Ok so now I have a very loud sound and smoke coming from the engine none of which were happening 30 minutes prior. I drove home with everyone pointing at me to tell me my engine was smoking. That was fun. Monday I had my car towed to my mechanic. He called later to say he turned it on and heard the noise and let it run a bit. He turned it off and turned it on again a bit later. No noise, noise was completely gone. He said some oil had been spilled on the alternator and that's where the smoke was coming from. Now my car is perfectly fine and back to normal. I'm glad I didn't just get those things fixed when it wasn't necessary. I don't even know what could have happened. Everyone I talk to is baffled at how any of that could happen after just getting a smog but somehow it did. read more

Went to BNC Auto Care today for the 1st time for a smog check, oil change and diagnostics related to my check engine light that had been on for awhile on my Lexus I'm always scared going to a new mechanic since I've been burned before but BNC has excellent reviews and it is right across Hwy 12 from my house and the positive reviews were all true. Adin (in the office) ended up charging me less than quoted and let me know which repairs were really needed at this time and there weren't many. She carefully explained everything to me as well. When I find a great auto repair shop I stay with them so I am a customer for life and will be recommending BNC to anyone who asks for a good mechanic. I fully recommend BNC Auto Care for repair and maintenance on your vehicles. I owned a 2000 Lexus RX300 for 15 years and BNC repaired and maintained it for 9 years. Unfortunately, the transmission failed about one month ago, and I was forced to donate the Lexus to a charity. However, I purchased a 2012 Nissan Altima S and had BNC fully inspect the vehicle prior to purchase. I trust BNC's people absolutely with my vehicles. BNC is a company that demonstrates pride in their business: Excellent customer service, pleasant staff, reliable, trustworthy, and competitive pricing. A potential safety hazard was identified during routine oil replacement, requiring a new front axle on my 19 year old Toyota. Also needing replacement was the damaged passenger side mirror, whacked in a freak encounter with a Recology trash barrel extending too far out into the road. Parts were available within 24 hours (amazing) and scheduling the appointment was efficient. Both repairs were made at a fraction of what costs would have been at the dealership. And, very pleasant surprise, without asking, I was given a courtesy loaner car for my convenience, never expected that perk and it was much appreciated. This experience reinforced the satisfaction I had felt in a prior appointment a year ago for a smog check done at BNC. There is peace of mind in knowing where to go for great service. read more

Had coupon & brought car in to check air conditioning. Got call car had hose leaks & radiator leak which it did not when brought in. You put coolant in without ok and charged over $350. Complained why would you put fluid in if there are leaks???? Complained what rip off so you emptied fluid from car and wanted to pay & leave. Boss said no charge so I left. Got home and now have actual leaks in my carport. Thanks for the shoddy & will tell everyone to not do business with you! read more

Wonderful locally owned mini chain of two, we pretty much always go to the Calistoga one now because it's near our house and we like to talk to the half owner, a woman immigrated from Iran and we love to see a woman owned mechanic shop and like to support it with our business! They also accept competitor coupons which I was not aware of, I didn't even ask for it but I mentioned I saw a lower price on another coupon and the owner insisted that she honor it We mostly go there for oil changes on an older car that's out of warranty, our new car goes to the dealer generally because we have a recall or something else that needs to be at the dealer for, but they have also done a few other things for us over the years and all done well I definitely would rely on them for brakes and tune-ups and oil changes and similar, I don't know how far they go with engine repair and things like that, but if they had such good pricing for that also it would be worth considering read more

Had a smog check done by BNC on Calistoga. They were very professional and completed the job in less than the promised time.

I went to the Dealer in Santa Rosa and they did a check of everything. I was having trouble with the car battery dead after a week of not driving. The dealer will have a fix. The dealer told me I needed 60 thousand check up. New spark plugs, new brake pads and rotors, new transmission fluid etc etc etc. Also they told me I need 4 new tires. Tires were over $800 at the dealer. I said I needed the car to run errands. I went to BNC and got what I needed. I have been going to BNC for all my car troubles and oil changes. Avid is the most friendly person. She is a gem. Happy you came to BNC. Avid said I didn't need to get new tires. Saved me $800. Prices at BNC are fair and the shop is honest. In my former car she found a hole in my air conditioner and had more freon put in for FREE. Not only is the work done right. The smile that Avid gives is great. I needed an alignment which BNC on Calistoga Road doesn't do. So she sent me to BNC on Todd Road which did it. It is Avid's brother which I will give a review after this. They did something really shady w/my car. I had an issue w/my car after going to BNC. I returned to the only repair shop I'd gone to previous to the one-time visit to BNC. My usual shop, which specializes in repairs of my car brand, has a record of all my repairs and the parts installed. The specialized shop told me a brand new part they'd recently put in had been switched out for a piece of junk. I'll never go back there. read more

I needed a smog check at a Star station. I found a coupon in my Valu-Pak for BNC and since it's close to my home I called. I should mention that I had a bad experience at a shop in Sonoma called Four Corners. They were very rude to me, and after charging $70, my car didn't pass. It turned out that because I had just replaced the battery, my car wasn't ready to be tested. They (Four Corners) should have let me know before testing. They refused to re-test free of charge, and as I said, were very RUDE! My first impression of BNC was speaking with Jeremy. He was very polite and was able to give me an appointment for the same day. I went in to find that Jeremy was polite, kind and efficient. My test was done in 15 minutes and my car passed. Thank you, BNC and Jeremy! I'll be back! read more

I have been going here for years to all of my vehicles smogged. The last time I went in, the price increased from $36 to $64, to which I questioned the guy at the desk why is it not $36 like always. He said price has increased. We'll come to find out, they say they are the lowest in town, but now only if you bring in the coupon for the $36, which was never the case before. I've been coming here for a few years now, so this review is long overdue... I have a 1992 Saturn SL, so it needs some more maintenance these days. I get my oil changes done here, and sometimes other maintenance work as well. I recently had to replace an engine oil pan in the Saturn, which is much more difficult than it sounds - there is a lot of labor involved. I scheduled my appointment ahead of time, and this was on a Saturday, mind you. It took several hours and came out good as new. I didn't have to take a weekday off to get my car fixed, which is the usual routine in Santa Rosa. Most everything in Santa Rosa is done for the convenience of the auto shop or the car dealership, not for the customer. And it was 500 or 600 dollars cheaper here than at the dealership and most of the other shops. And no more oil leaks. This place is a godsend. read more

I'm with Ashley H. Baffled by the outstanding reviews. Spent $4000.00 for services needed, I agreed. When I got vehicle back, random knocking in right front wheel area. Took it back and was told it was a different issue that was there before the original sevice As it is my wife's vehicle I could not be sure this wasn't so. She says no but wasn't sure. Gave them the benefit of the doubt. $2000.00 more to remedy the issue, new tires arms, housings etc. Got it back. Within a month, tires down to metal on the inside of tread. Took it back and was told " oh, it needed an alignment after we replaced everything. We dont do that here but our other shop does". Me oh ok that would have been nice to know so the alignment you should have done will be no charge ?? No, you have to pay for the alignment separately. WTF. read more

I am baffled at these good reviews. We took my moms car in during the afternoon 3/28. The mechanic found many "issues". Luckily, my husband who is knowledgeable about cars went to the shop as the mechanic was attempting to replace the rotors and brakes. The rotors and brakes were in great condition and did not need to be replaced. When the mechanic was called out, he refused to speak with us and answer any questions we had about why he was replacing perfectly fine rotors and brakes. Luckily for us my husband went down there to witness this or this man would of ripped off my mom. There is probably many women he has pulled this off on. Untrustworthy shop that tries to take advantage of people they think aren't as knowledgeable about cars (women!). read more

I had another completely satisfying experience with BNC. As I started my car on the way to a medical appointment, I could tell that the battery probably didn't have another start in it. I went directly to BNC where I go for smog checks and oil changes. They were perfectly happy to see me eventhough I didn't have an appointment. Despite being busy, in 45 minutes, a battery was found at a lower price, ordered, installed, and everything was working again. They also checked my alternator. They are so efficient and pleasant and competent and trustworthy. I can't say enough about what a great resource they are. I wish I knew the owner's name so, I could compliment her personally. Brought the Honda Element in for an oil change. Advertised price was low. Got a quick appointment. Gave me a next day service time. I sat in the waiting area while they did the job. Problem: The new oil filter was screwed on incorrectly. Started to drip oil after I got home. Wife was pissed that our concrete driveway got oil stains. Brought the car back. BNC admitted that there was an oil leak. Installed a new filter. Solved problem. Gave me a card for a free oil change at next visit. Nice people. read more
