GreenTech does dangerously bad work. They worked on the brakes on our van and shortly after we picked it up, I started hearing a scraping sound from the left rear wheel through part of each rotation. I stopped into Sonoma County Auto Care to ask where the sound was coming from, and they showed me that one of our lug nuts had fallen off and all the others were only finger tight. They said that if I had driven it on the highway like that the wheels likely would have come off. They fixed it for me for free. When we called GreenTech they denied all responsibility on the basis that they hadn't worked on our tires, even though the brake work they did clearly requires taking the wheels off. read more

Needed major repairs ( a new catalytic converter ), not a fun prospect, but Tristen at the front desk made it go so easily with a fun, positive attitude that helped soooo much in a stressful situation. The work was completed much more quickly than expected. And the free loaner car!! While doing this job they found another issue, that I need to go back to a previous repair place that probably caused this issue to resolve....and without going into details, Green Tech in it's own way is helping with that as well! Came in for a car alarm diagnosis, only auto shop I could find close by open on Monday with availability late in the morning that day. Fee was $179 a bit higher then most places it was a good full car check with good recommendations for future work needed. Unfortunately the price to complete the work was a little more then i found worth it. I did find a shop that could do the same work for half the price. I did find their $10 off coupon for checking in, but the mechanic would not honor it because I guess a diagnosis does not fall under a service they offer? Front desk lady was very sweet! read more

it's unfortunate that they treated my husband so poorly when he went in to question why the engine light is on again when we paid 2,000 more to fix it. they even tried to charge him to look at it again. I actually trusted them! now in reading their reviews I should have read them prior to hiring them. the service is on warranty but doesn't seem smart to even try to go back. we filed a claim with the BBB. This place charged me thousands of dollars for work they did not perform. The engine light came back on when the car reset and they wanted to charge me an additional $255 to look at the work that I already paid them to do. They will charge you hundreds of dollars to change a light bulb and try to get you to assume charges that are not needed. read more

Absolutely insane how horrible the customer service is. The man with the un-kept long hair in the office became extremely confrontational during an interaction for picking up a vehicle for service. I work for AAA and when advised this person that AAA does not cover tows for a vehicle when the insured member is not present he yelled called me an idiot and tried to blackmail me into giving a tow with the threat of a call to my boss and not using our company again. Little did he know the entire interaction was captured by a dashcam. DO NOT take your vehicle here. If they try to scam a 75$ tow they'll do a lot more, no doubt. read more

When I attempted to explain what was wrong, a long haired mechanic told me to get to the point. Should have walked out then. I was attempting to tell him what I observed and what I thought should be happening with the hybrid system. He then lectured me about hybrids. Well, I already own a Nissan Leaf (all electric) and a 2013 Ford C Max Energi (plug in hybrid) so I know a little bit about EV's and PHEVs. He would not listen to me. He kept insisting that I was resetting the mpge on the Escape. I knew I wasn't. He refused to let me tell him my empirical evidence for my conclusion by talking over me. Note, he was in the front office and not working on a vehicle. Maybe its the chemo I am on, but I should have confronted him there and then. I will not go back. There are other shops that deal with hybrids. If this is how they treat potential customers, how will they treat actual customers when they have their repair money in there hands. I am not looking for service people to kiss my @ss, but a little courtesy and respect (especially for elders) could go a long way. I would shop around on costs and what you need to have done to your car before landing here. I brought my car in for an oil change here and my temporary plug broke while it was being unscrewed. I don't want to blame the teenager that was working on the car, because it seemed to be his first day on the job. The owner of the shop did let me know that the temporary plug would need to be replaced at some point as well. This is not my complaint with this shop. Once the plug broke, I was told that it broke inside of my oil pan and that the bolt that was holding it together was loose inside my pan. The owner said he tried draining it and using a magnet to find the bolt, but, he could not find it. He also mentioned that he wasn't sure if the bolt was even in my oil pan. Since the car wasn't drivable without oil, he then quoted $500 to remove my oil pan and then he could find the missing bolt. I drive a 2010 Nissan xtera. After I spoke to a friend who works on cars regarding the situation, he told me to bring my car over to his place, and he would find the bolt. I went back inside and told the owner this and he seemed offended and pissed off that I didn't want to pay him the money to find a bolt that may not even be in my oil pan. I called a tow truck and once it showed up, I went back inside to get my keys. The owner spent the next five minutes explaining to me that he didn't know much about the temporary plug that I was using but to make sure I didn't drive it until I found the bolt. It seems to me that if he didn't know much about this temporary plug, then I wonder how he knew for sure that it would break. Afterwards, I ran a search online and found the plug I was using. It was a dorman universal oil plug. The description for the product specifically states that it's guaranteed to fit just right and provide lasting protection. Unless someone that isn't familiar with the plug tries to pull it out and it breaks. The bolt that they were referring to was less than half the size of the tip of my pinky finger. I put my old lug nut into my oil pan and I've been driving my car ever since. Again, I would shop around mechanics before settling here and make sure when you hear the words, you need to have this done, or the computer won't let me proceed without replacing this part, that you really need it. I'm all about supporting local businesses but not if they're arrogant, angry when you don't want to do things their way, and trying to rip you off. read more

One of the best experiences I've had with shops! Went in for a simple oil change and service and they ended up checking everything on my car and charging me less than quoted! More services and less price, stellar! The staff is very friendly and kind, some car repair shops do not have both service and smiles together but they have it in spades! I had my 2000 Ford Ranger Pick Up towed to GreenTech, for a coolant leak. Charley called and let me know when they received it. They did a full work up of my truck and found I needed a water pump & thermostat. They found a few other things that I can get fixed at a later date. I had no way to get to work and they offered a free loaner car, which helps so much. They called me a few times to let me know whats going on, I felt like a part of the process. They are very professional and Nate a Mechanic/ Owner called me himself and explained the issue in terms that were easy to understand. Found my reliable mechanic! The team at Green tech auto are nice, honest, and professional. When I call them with a problem they are able to schedule me in right away and take care of it ASAP. If I could give negative stars, I would. I've never had such a horrible customer service experience, ever. I went in, and clearly stated, 'I think my catalytic converter is bad.' I had googled the noise my car was making and that led me to believe, that's what it was but I needed a professional to diagnose it. I stated, 'if it's the cat, I will junk the car because that's a very expensive fix and that's more than my car's value.' I leave my car, it gets diagnosed and BEFORE I even authorize the work, I get a call and the front desk person says, 'good news, it's ONLY an emissions gasket and without me even authorizing the work, the just did it. I take my car home and get an oil change the very next day. There, smoke and horrible fumes are now leaking in to the car's cabin. I go back to the shop. I leave the car for two days and I get a call,' bad news, it's the cat.' And I'm just speechless. I said I didn't want any work done if it is the cat. I stated this very clearly at the beginning of getting work done. The front desk person even suggests junking my car at Carmax but I don't because they say, 'car is good.' So, I put in almost $400 here, and because they deemed the car up and running, I spent another $300 at the oil change place, getting the car's maintenance done: oil change, new wipers, coolant flush..Now I'm down almost $600. So, I just had work done but they didn't find or fix the problem until AFTER they did work and charged me. I return to the shop to see if we can compromise on getting some of my money back and they refuse. So, not only did they mis-diagnose my vehicle, they did work on it BEFORE I even authorized it!! Is that even legal? No, it's not. I told the owner I wasn't leaving until I got some of my money back. You know what he does, instead? He calls the cops to have me removed. What a gem. I'd steer clear of this place. The owner is a smug POS who will try to say you said something different than you did, take your money, then call the cops on you. I have been coming to GreenTech for years and I have always had a good experience. This local small business is one that I am always confident to refer to friends. Most recently I dropped off my car after getting a pretty bad flat and we discussed all the possibilities from replacing all of my tires to maybe being able to just patch the one. I got the call that it was an easy fix and that they were able to patch it. They recommended a few other normal maintenance items which they were happy to call and remind me to schedule at a later date when it would be in the budget. I got my oil changed and they had it leaking because they had used an incorrect washer to seal the oil drain. They really messed up a oil change... I also got a quote for my mileage check in at 20k. They quoted me a 20% discount compared to the dealer. Lastly they had no cars in their shop, that is a clear tell of a bad mechanic shop. read more

high reviews are deceiving I chose this place to do an oil change and vehicle inspection, based on those high reviews. I expected quality service since i am paying so much for an oil change. -loaner car was left a tick on E. After 2 miles of driving the low fuel sign goes on so I need to add fuel before i return...there was also trash in the car. -had to call when my car is ready when I was told i would be notified via text and be given updates. -told i need new car filters when i replaced them new myself 2 weeks before -told i need tire rotation...when i already emailed the shop before the appointment explaining I got new michelin tires at costco, i only need oil change and inspection. -told i need new wipers when my car is less than 2 years old. - will also do their best to not add the $10 yelp discount. I called and emailed them to add it on, and i still had to remind the worker to add at the checkout for the third time. This level of service is piss poor and bunch of liars. 2007 Acura TL, brought in for timing belt, accessory belt, water pump, belt tensioner, coolant flush and refill, oil change. Dropped off car at 8:30 am and picked it up at 12:20 pm! What!? Under 4 hours??!!! Awesome!!! The tech working on the car has over 25 years of experience with Honda's. Hence the reason for speed and accuracy servicing my Acura. Nate spent time with me discussing parts and how they looked. Acura is 10 years old with 100,318 miles on it. Parts looked good but Acura required it to be done. Needless to say, I'm impressed. I went here to have the motor mounts replaced. These guys know what they're doing! They had a FREE loaner car ready and waiting. I dropped off my car for them to check out. It had a bad vibration in the engine area. They also said it could be an ignition problem. They called me later that day to say they knew what the problem was. Carbon buildup in the intake and one bad motor mount. They ordered the parts they needed. I left it over night, they said the parts would be there the next morning. I got a call at 10 am saying the car was ready! What?? It took them only two hours to fix it!! I couldn't leave my house at that time, so Tim, I think his name was, brought it to me!! Two hours!! This is a first-class operation. I can't say enough about how awesome this shop is, but here's a start: prompt. thorough. friendly. courteous. skilled. clean. etc! I can only surmise that the negative reviews are the result of some folks being unreasonable: wanting everything they want, when they want it, without paying for it. This is a wonderful business. They tell you how much it costs to have them diagnose your car, in advance. If you are expecting them to look at your piece of junk for free, you should just go somewhere else. It costs money to run a great business. It takes time to do a diagnostic, so you shouldn't be expecting a shop to put in an hour of their labor (which costs them $) and not charge you for that. They do a COMPLETE safety check of all systems. What they charge for it is very fair. If you have an awful piece of junk jalopy car and you don't care how safe it is, don't go here. If you care about being safe on the road, DO go here, and be thankful there is still a shop like this one who you can rely on, and whip out that debit card. Don't "pull a karen" because you're an entitled brat and want everything done for you for free, like you're still living at mom's house, and then when you don't get it you write a bad review to retaliate. Everybody is onto you: Take the bus, or have your neighbor's nephew "fix" it in front of the house for a beer, and you will be broken down on the side of the road tomorrow - hope that shade-tree mechanic can come pick you up! Sorry for the rant! Spoiled people really chap my hide! Worse experience I have ever had! Got a coupon out of the bohemian, went there for an oil change, break check, and the full 9 yards. It took about an hour. With in a week my oil and coolant light came on, and there was a grinding sound I heard coming from the back. I didn't think much about the sound (I figured its just because my windows were down more) until my lights came on. I went back that day to be told by them that I needed 1200$ worth of work and that my car was unsafe to drive but they would give me a good deal..... Well im not stupid! I'm not saying that they did anything bad to my car (although thats how I feel) but they were supposed to do a break check and then they told me my breaks were shot a week later...I had no leaks before I took my car in and now I need a new oil pan and a new coolant hose.... I will be filling a complaint with the police! read more

I called around for smog check prices to have an idea of what they run and ended up as a walk-in customer here. I saw them listed in the Go Local book so I wanted to support them as they said they do a 10% discount for members. I walked in and asked the price which was quoted at $59 and change. I asked if he'd do the 10% on top of that and he said yes. I then told him what another place wanted to charge me and he then shuffled a bit and said, the $59 is already a special so he didn't know if he could do the 10%. That made me feel a bit weary and I'm already weary of mechanics. I feel bad that they get such a bad wrap. The smog check took an hour. I have never waited that long for a smog check. To their defense they said they needed to dry the tire wheels since it was raining. Eventually they came back and told me my vehicle had failed on 1 account and that they would charge $114 for a diagnostic, but it wasn't clear if that cost would also include fixing it. I'm probably being too harsh but I walked away frustrated not expecting to wait an hour and then that it failed (hopefully not their fault). They sensed that I was frustrated and really do care about providing good customer service so he lowered his price to $50. --- Follow-up --- I went home and asked a friend who knows about vehicles and asked him if it was legit for why my truck failed. He called his friend who owns a smog shop and his friend said, it's a very common issue with my type of truck and all I had to do was make a minor adjustment with a socket wrench and the light they use to check the timing. I fixed it. It took less than 2 minutes to fix and Greentech wanted $114 to do this. I took my truck to my friend's place and passed my smog in 20 minutes. Sorry Greentech, I wanted to like you, but I'm really disappointed. read more

I have been receiving flyers for Greentech for quite some time now...so...I decided to give them a try. I brought my Lexus in for a few simple things...smog and installing a master window switch which i purchased and electronic antenna mast...also a part I purchased. I made an appointment at 1:30pm on a Saturday ..came in on time...waited around then was told yes we can do all of this and we close at 330 because it is Saturday...we will install the switch and antenna for one hour labor charge. They called me around 3:20pm to tell me that the smog is finished and the antenna was installed but the master switch did not fix the window and that it must be a motor or something else. They did not offer to find out what it needed rather we close at 330 is all I really interpreted from the sound of the anxious voice. I was billed for the hour and figured that was fine...let us see what part I need and I will take it to my regular mechanic. My regular mechanic installed the same master switch and the window worked fine. In the meantime the antenna went up...but would not go back down...so the switch was in fact the problem with the window and the antenna didn't work....I called GreenTech and said I am trying to sell this car so don't want to spend too much time on this...they were too busy and could not see me until two Saturdays ahead of time ... Bottom line they promised to make this good. I had nearly 10 emails to them and the last one was where i requested .that I just wanted a credit for the window switch labor even though the antenna didn't work properly... ....Greentech asked me for the receipt from my other mechanic..a reasonable request.. I faxed the bill to Greentech per their request and ..I emailed the bill for good measure..but I never heard from Greentech again. bottom line...if you have a great mechanic don't try someone out just because they have a coupon or are more convenient. Please note....I do not like to yelp a business with negative comments...but after giving a business ample opportunity to take care of their customer this failure to launch deserved a Yelp comment. read more

We found Greentech because they were geographically the closest mechanic to our home. We have stayed with Greentech due to their impeccable customer service, communication skills, and perfect work. My husband has an older model of Mercury that comes up with the weirdest repairs every once and a while and every time he has taken it into Greentech the car has come home in excellent condition and we have never had to repeat for the same problem. I absolutely adore the convenience of making an appointment on their website, but they have also always been kind and courteous about fitting us in same day when we have needed it. Most recently they replaced our back brakes and brake lines on our car and had it done within hours of the car being towed in. I have always felt like Greentech does not gauge on prices (particularly when talking to me, you know how it is Ladies. . .) and they have always been clear and concise in their communication and helping us to prioritize issues when money was tight. They have done everything for us from brakes, smog, oil changes, spark plugs, etc. We have never had a bad experience (have gone there about half a dozen times) and have always been extremely satisfied. Highly recommended. My Eldorado had developed a miss. I called GTA to see if they could take a look. They quoted me a fair price for diagnostic testing and had me bring it in the same afternoon. During testing the highly skilled technicians found that my alternator was on its last legs. They gave me a price and the owner gave me a ride home. The alternator was replaced that evening and I was mobile again the next day. They had me bring the car back on Monday to find the miss and a faulty coil pack was found to be the culprit. GTA provided a loner car and called me when my work was compete. They even gave me a discount on the labor. My car has never run better. Nathan, Adam, and Kris were a pleasure to talk to and deal with. The shop is clean and organized. I trust GTA for my automotive needs. read more
