Been there a couple times and have not been disappointed. It is an unapologetically American establishment, which I appreciate. The owners are usually around, and the bar staff is helpful and friendly. I like the Golden Ale myself, though the imperial stout has a great flavor as well. As I understand it, the distilling operation should be running enough to be added to the menu in January 2014- whiskey, gin, and vodka. Looking forward to trying those. They do not have a kitchen, but have various food trucks each night of the week (one each night, check their website for the schedule), and Filippi's Santee is just down the road- they have no problem with you bringing food in from outside. Surprising hidden gem located in Santee. Huge variety of brews: sour saison, jalapeno pale ale, imperial porter, etc. Quality of the beer was top notch. Cool facility - I secretly love the "ice bar" that runs the length of the bar and keeps your beer cold! Bonus: I learned that BNS stands for BEERS 'N SUDS. Great San Diego County brewery! read more

I cannot tell you just how great this brewery truly is. Unfortunately I was only able to try the amazing ales they had but I was told they distle their own whiskey as well. Guarantee I will be all over that next time. But as unbelievable as their refreshments are the people working there are the true rockstars of this establishment. During my visit i managed to drop my wallet on the floor on my way out the door. To make a long story short I made it back to see if anyone found it and they had closed but as Robert was leaving he noticed me looking around the parking lot and asked if I lost my wallet and of course I said yes. He then proceeded to call the bartender who was already on her way home and found it in her heart to come back and unlock the bar and get me my wallet. Not a thing was missing and they would not allow me to reward them no matter how hard I tried. Needless to say my faith in humanity was once again restored by these amazing people. We love this place. My husband and I have now been four times (two of them with our kids) and it has been wonderful. The beer is AMAZING, the atmosphere is casual and welcoming. The live music really adds to the place and the food trucks and taqueria Mondays have been wonderful. Along with being able to bring the kids (they have a play room), they allow you to bring in your own food or snacks which works out great because one of our kids has a food allergy. We now bring friends here and we'll keep coming back and spreading the news. My favorite is the Gatling Gun - Imperial Stout (lots of coffee aroma) and my husband loves the Flintlock American Pale. This is definitely my favorite of the breweries in town. read more

BNS is a cowboy western themed brewery serving up tasty suds in a family friendly atmosphere. None of the beers truly stood out but they were all drinkable and had cool names like Flintlock. The place feels a bit more like a bar than a brewery though - for example the pretty, dolled up servers feel like bartenders (quick and efficient at pulling pints) and not like part of the brew team (able to explain the hops used, the difference between their ales, etc.). They have a small play room for kids and a great outdoor seating area. Worth a stop on a circuit of the area but not its not the highlight. read more

Its like a day care center for alcoholics. Kids running around everywhere. None of the bar tenders seemed happy. I went on a Friday not too busy but took a while to get a beer. I only had 2 beers they were ok i could taste the dirty tap on one and at 930 they refused to get me another even thou they are open till 10. Also the food trucks leave early. Weird scene. read more

Cool looking brewery. I felt like I walked into a steakhouse. Really cool patio area. Although I am the least "country western" person on the planet, I appreciate the individuality of this place. Clearly, they know their community and go to lengths to fit in well. In fact, the day I was there I noticed several people who appeared to be regulars. The staff paid close attention to these people and many high fives were given. Unfortunately, it was difficult for me to get anyone to wait on me, and when I was served there was very little interaction. The beers were pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but everything was drinkable. The Saison was missing the funk & esters that I usually enjoy from this style. The pale ale was solid, as was the IPA, but both lacked a good hoppy/citrus nose. This is just personal taste though. With 72 breweries in SD county, there is nothing in particular that stands out about this place, although it seems as though they are building a strong local following so something may be working. read more

I was excited to find a brewery AND distillery in one. Often the only option in San Diego is beer, so when I found this spot on yelp I thought it would be the perfect stop after a visit to a pumpkin patch outside of town. I was disappointed to walk in and be told the distillery wasn't ready yet. We weren't close to anything else so we stayed. The beer menu was very heavy IPA and I was left with no drink options. The space is decorated with stuffed dead animals on the wall which isn't to my liking, but if the hunting lodge is your style then you will enjoy this large brewery. I wish they would have better advertised they were not actually distilling liquor yet, but perhaps we will try it again later down the road... read more

My girlfriend and I, in a spurt of spontaneity, decided to make a stop at BNS Brewing while driving around Santee. Though nestled in a somewhat off-the-beaten-path location, the atmosphere gave me a very polished feel. Everything inside is well decorated, with a great view toward the brewing equipment. There was even a band playing! But who cares about the atmosphere when there's BEER? Two of these adult beverages really stood out to us. The Flintlock American Pale and the red ale, Ole Prospector. While many Southern California breweries are really focused on the IPA scene, BNS does a great job with this American Pale, easily being the favorite of our trip. The Flintlock stands out as a great red, though it could be described as simplistic. Overall, it was a pleasant stop on a really, really hot day. They even allow well-behaved dogs inside, which was awesome, because, like I said, it would have sucked to sit outside in the heat. The staff was really awesome, too. Came here to meet a few friends as I had heard a few friends talk about it and lets face it, I love me some good beer!! I loved the fact that you could buy tasters of almost all the beer (if my memory serves me correctly there was only 1 that could not be served as a taster) for a pretty reasonable price, $3 I believe. They had one taster, which I can't remember the name of it but it was SPICY! Brewed with cilantro and Serrano and man could you taste that pepper! I had the taster of it and could barely finish it but was thinking of how great it would be to throw that beer in a ground beef mixture for burgers! It would give it such a good kick while also making it a nice and moist burger. It gave me a bit of heart burn a little later but hey that's not their fault I can't handle the burn haha They have a really nice patio area and plenty of parking. This place is kind of hidden but my GPS had no problem finding it. I was a little surprised by their closing time (9 pm sun - thurs and 10pm fri - sat) but it is not a biggie. I was not a fan of their music selection, played all country music, but given the area that it is in, I can't say that I am surprised or that I would write them off because of it. all in all, another great brewing company in San Diego! Place was reminiscent of Stone Brewing Co. mainly because of the area and warehouse feel. It was a little awkward when we walked in because it was not apparent if we sat ourselves or had to wait to be seated. When we ordered the flight of beers they didn't have any trays left (really!?) so I had to carry 9 samples to our table. That was annoying. Place is huge but extremely small seating and bar area, but they had a large outside area that had picnic tables. They had a live band playing which was different than most brewing cos. The downside is they do not serve food but apparently they have food trucks on Fridays. We went on Saturday and they had a sushi bar set up, which was good. I would go back to check out their spirits when they become available. read more

Not going to be my favorite. But that doesn't mean I didn't find some beer I like. After all, who can beat Iron Fist? First time in and had a flight of 5 for $5. BTW, I'm not an IPA guy. So, the loss of a star is because when I came in the bar was full and there was a line in the center. So, I queued (look it up). I was third in line and it took 12 minutes because the tarbender decided that whoever walked up should be served first. WTF? So, I finally got my flight and overall it was good but nothing to write home about. Actually, the band that was playing was awesome. Lots of Journey, Doors, even Average White Band. Very good. "Classic Buzz Band". I'm a fan now. This place is very Santee. If your not from San Diego you have no idea what that means: Country style: lots of unfinished wood and gun oriented. This place is hoppin' and I can see why. Very few breweries can cross the line to be a bar. This one did. I would recommend it. Also, lots of babes. :-0 read more

I like this place, and have been with my husband twice. Unfortunately I don't like beer and they don't offer wine, so I can't say that I would be excited to come back unless that changes. I think they are missing out on a huge market of wine drinking women here.... :) I would gladly change my star rating to a 5 if they remedy this. This is a very cool place - it's got a cool vibe & great outdoor patio. The beers we tried were great & we lived the use of jars as glasses. There was a live band playing a wide variety of music & they were great. So I used to love this place. It's close to home, good beer, good live music, food trucks. Just an all around great place to chill out after a stressful week. Today, if you are looking for grown up entertainment, peace and chill you won't find it here...it's basically a day care with beer. More kids than adults, kids at the bar, kids ripping around the patio, kids interrupting the sacred cornhole game...basically a kid bomb...a day care speckled with 20 or so adults to babysit everyone else's kids while they drink beer and ignore the fact their kids have no manners. Bottom line, if you are looking for adult fun, with other adults, don't come here. You will trip over everyone's car seats, strollers, toddlers and 8 year old kids propping themselves at the bar to say hi to the bartenders...the sacred brewery night is officially destroyed at this place. Went there last night to enjoy a few beers. Great place to go on a weekday and enjoy a beer after work. It seems very family friendly. Saw a lot of kids. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing it was early though when we arrived. Had live music which is always awesome! Don't recommend getting drunk, it really does seen like a family oriented business surrounded by chill people just wanting to enjoy a good old brewskie. read more

Good brews. Most of the beers run at $5 a pint. They got taster sets to try out all their beers. The Gunfighter and the Flintlock pale ale are my favorites. The spot is chill; inside and outside seating. Located next to the drive-inn; so can catch a buzz before watching a flick. Food trucks occasionally show up so you can get your fat ass on. Had a year end party there in the new back room. The staff is the best. We received a wrist tag because of the party and coulds sample any of the beers. My favorite was the Blood orange. Also the food was wonderful. Guess they had a band not show up so they got a new band that was even better. With the little bar hidden by the stage for hard liq made by them we went in with hot coffee and asked them for a Mexican Coffee, what we got was so much better.
