Hush puppies may have been hot at some time in their lives but not while with us. They are more like a little balls that collects oils from other items, and were just a tough, oily ball of meal. Oh, and they came from Walmart or Sams, but nothing offered was hand made to differ it from any other. The tartar sauce was bought elsewhere and not different from others. That brings us to the coleslaw. When we opened our little cups we were taken aback by the rancid smell and the stale, slimy look of the vegetables. I walked in not knowing what to expect and immediately noticed the velvet yellow sectional, the clean design, and a room that was the perfect blend of curated and comfortable. Nothing was working too hard, yet everything felt intentional. Then came the cocktail menu. Whoever put it together understands balance. Sweet. Sour. Spice. Earth. The presentation was superb. It was a perfect combination to start the morning and I could tell the food and drinks were made with care. The atmosphere at PJ's was also really nice and the staff was friendly and welcoming.
