Really impressed the store is not commission based. My sister purchased two pair - mizuzo (spelling?) and another brand. I actually put a pair aside for myself. I have been having trouble with balance and edema. So excited to get them today or tomorrow. This is one of the best stores I have ever been to. And I travel frequently. I was getting ready for my first half marathon and was visiting family for Christmas. I'm so glad I decided to use my gift money went to Hanlon's to get sneakers. The staff was phenomenal and patient. After 20 minutes of trying on, and walking in, various shoes I found "my" pair. I visited here in early August 2014 after reading online that it was the only proper running shoe store on the Cape. It was a complete let down. I run between 30-60 miles a week depending on what race I have coming up, and am used to running stores at home-that will evaluate your stride, etc. hanlons did none of this. Their selection of shoes was EXTREMELY limited (ex: they carried neither the brooks ghost or the brooks glycerin or any of the Brooks pure project shoes), the guy that helped me knew NOTHING about running shoes...and they had pretty much NO running apparel. They had some socks and one rack of shorts but that's it. Save your time...Marathon Sports of S. Yarmouth is 5.8 miles away and is actually a REAL RUNNING STORE!!! :) read more

I use to frequent Hanlon Shoes when I lived less than a 10 minute walk from their store. I loved their inventory and the salespeople are very knowledgeable, courteous and patient. I especially loved the clearance area in the back of the store where you could find running shoes which are no longer in-style going for 50-75% off retail price. I now live in Dover, Delaware and there is no store in the state which compares with Hanlon Shoes. I live too far away to be tempted to just drive to Hyannis to visit Hanlon Shoes. For those of you in the Hyannis/Cape Cod area you are so lucky to have Hanlon Shoes. I wish they had a website so I could purchase inventory/clearance items online. read more

Privately run shoe store on main drag in Hyannis. They have every kind of shoe and sneaker which is impressive for a small independent store. I go mainly for the running sneakers. ( berks/earth/asics/mizuno/new bal./brooks/nike/sacony/orthepedic looking things and men's shoes - these are foreign to me) The staff are so knowledgeable about their products. I got out with a great pair of Mizuno's which fit my foot better than the Mizuno's I was paying 40 dollars more for! They often give you this cute little 5 or 10 dollar discount. They also told me about a new concept I think Asics is coming out with, the lacing will no longer be in the middle but diagonally running along the side - lacing in the middle aggravates the nerve that runs down the top of your foot! Went in about 2 weeks ago. Had heard the commercials and so needed AND wanted a couple pairs of sneakers. The salesman was rude from the first sentence. Essentially told me I did not have the size feet I do, mismeasured my feet, told me I did NOT have the issues with my feet I said I did and told me I "did not have a high arch" (news to me after 50 something years of having one) At one point he picked up one of the sneakers I wore in bending it back and forth and back a forth and made rude remarks about my current sneaker. I own a business on Cape. If that had been one of my employees I would have fired him on the spot. I walked out, but not soon enough. read more

It was busy when I got there so I figured there would be a wait. As soon as I got to the counter an employee said he would be right with me. He was with me within a minute. I told him what I needed and he said he knew just what would work. He measured my feet and had me put my new sneakers on to make sure I liked the fit. I don't think I was in the store more than 20 minutes! I used to buy my sneakers on line from one of those big outfits that have many brands for a cheaper price. When I got home I went on line to see how much the same sneakers were at one of those outlets. The same sneakers were $10 more than Hanlon's!! Worst customer experience I have had in a long time. I went to get fitted for a pair of sneakers and work boots. I spent 10 minutes walking around the store waiting for someone to approach me, and fit me for a pair of shoes, but no one came around. Finally, I asked for help and the older man behind the counter said " I don't work here, but if you a looking for sneakers you can try ago that wall and pointed. We don't sell work boots, try Sears. At this point I was disgusted with lack of customer service and left. I am never going back!!! read more
