Visited this restaurant for dinner on New Year's Eve. There was a huge waitlist and they stopped adding people to the list more than 1.5 hours before the kitchen closes. So arrive early and be prepared to wait or figure out a way to make a reservation. For appetizers, I ordered the guava flavored chicken wings and mahi fish tacos. Guava flavored chicken wings was an unexpected winner amongst everything I had here. The sauce was delicious. The mahi fish tacos were pretty loaded but lacked flavor. The fish wasn't cooked properly. The tacos were a letdown. For entree, I ordered the tuna fish tacos with peanut sesame slaw and coconut mahi curry. The tuna fish tacos weren't great, the tuna was extremely chewy but the peanut sauce was quite good. The coconut mahi curry came with a generous side of sauted zucchini, carrots and onions which was a delight. There wasn't anything more exciting to talk about in the dish. On the other hand, their service was great and the food arrived pretty quickly. The live band for New Year's eve was simply amazing. Their energy was incredible and it was clear, this was a favorite among locals who came in later to dance. The atmosphere was fun and lively, perfect way to call in the New Year. This restaurant seemed more suitable if you want to enjoy the vibe with some drinks overlooking the beach but the not for the food.

You really can't beat the view from the outside seating of this restaurant. The ceviche was excellent. The piña colada was just OK. It was good to have a break from Cuban food.

This was our first time here. Located just across the street from the beach. The biggest challenge? Parking. Even on a Tuesday night. But that's Puerto Rican culture. Everyone is out for a good time. There was plenty of seating whether inside or out. How could you not want to sit and watch the ocean waves. Plus it was easy to see our waiter enjoyed his job. We ordered drinks, me with the Magna lager, my first time trying it. I'm not usually a beer guy but this I enjoyed...enough to have a few more. My girlfriend had to try the coco mofongo. Talk about perfect. Might have been the best one I've had in years. We ordered the jalapeño poppers filled with cream cheese. I could not have made them any better and there was plenty for 2 people. My entree was the blue burger and she had the tuna tacos with peanut sauce. The great thing about this place is that you never feel rushed. That's the bonus. You get to enjoy the atmosphere and the view. The food was outstanding and we already have plans on coming back. Put Boardriders on your list of places to visit. Guarantee you'll be thanking me for this hidden gem. Just remember, parking is the challenge.

Really enjoyed the environment and the wings. Our family all enjoyed our Meals and the excellent waterfront location. The other Family with us had a different experience. Although they enjoyed their food, Boardriders was out of a lot of their choices and then for charged for things they didn't get. They worked it out in the end and all in all, it was a good experience. read more

This restaurant was a great choice for dinner! The menu is very versatile and has many options. I ended up ordering the tropical mahi wrap which was delicious! I loved the pineapple in it. This is hands down the best beach bar on the island. The food is always cooked to perfection, the drinks are spot on, the staff is always friendly and the view of the surfers is way cool! Surfs up at this local restaurant/bar, where it's easy to lose yourself in the sound of the ocean and old school reggae. read more

Casual on water place to catch a meal with some drinks. We went after hiking in the rainforest. The food is nothing to run home and tell people about but to watch the waves and surfers is the key aspect. read more

Best resturant I've been to in Luquillo. Great service. The bushwacker was amazing. We ate a sampler, Congo burger and shrimp quesadillas and everything was delicious. The music and atmosphere was laid back and super comfortable! Definitely a place I'd visit again or recommend to friends who visit PR! read more

Food was good, service not, although Oscar was a nice guy. Sounds like they were off their game tonight, got there a little after 8 and the place was almost full outside, but order took forever. Did not live up to the hype like Rincon del Sabor did last night. If you have one night, pick Sabor, you won't regret it. read more

We went here twice while on vacation in Lucillo. Once for lunch and once for appetizers, drinks and the live music. The food was great and the coconut mojito was delicious. The atmosphere was great day and night. The band was lively and entertaining. I highly recommend. read more

Boardriders is a great little spot with a fantastic view of the beautiful Luquillo beaches! The waves can get pretty crazy right in front of the restaurant so if you're lucky you'll get to see a bunch of people trying their hand at surfing which is fun to watch. The service was good, and the food awesome -- we had the make-your-own mahi mahi fish tacos that my husband raved about, and I had a cheeseburger (I know, but after 5 straight days of fried seafood I needed something class). The burger was pretty standard but had great flavor. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for upscale bar food with a great ocean-side view! read more

Terrific experience here. Beautiful ocean view, top of the line service, and great tasting food. Our server Ismael was awesome - he spoke great English and was super attentive and helpful when we had any questions. We had the hummus for an appetizer, which tasted great, then my wife had a bacon cheeseburger and I had the Ribs and Wings Combo. Beware - even the small size of Ribs and Wings will fill you up quick. We thoroughly enjoyed both our entrees, and then finished the night off with a piece of cheesecake. Also, FYI, they have happy hour deals from 5-7 pm on Monday through Friday on select drinks. We didn't arrive until 6:45 but worth noting for those interested. Highly recommended spot in Luquillo for those wanting something other than traditional Puerto Rican food. read more

Waited an hour for a salad and some tacos and the food was terrible. The tilapia tasted like the inside of an old refrigerator. They charged a dollar for a thimbles worth of guacamole to go with the tacos. Salad was average at best. One star for our lovely waitress and another for the hot sauce. Come here for drinks and eat somewhere else. read more

The food was great, fish tacos were different in a good way - make your own tacos. The ambience was even greater - the view, the setting, I felt I was a tourist even though I am a local. My husband had a hamburger that was also very good. Will return for sure! read more

Great place to start our vacation. Mahi fish tacos are amazing! This coming from a person who only eats non fishy tasting fish. Blue cheese hamburger, potato salad and Oceanspray wrap were also very good. Friendly and attentive service. Great live music. Came back 2 more times for mahi fish tacos during our week long vacation. And what a deal, Tuesday night was taco night! Thank you Boardriders! read more

What can I say ... strong drinks and great food. I ordered the mahi fish tacos ... wow!!! Two huge pieces of perfectly grilled mahi ... and all the fixins to make great tacos!!! Came with four flour torts .. I don't know if corn were available. My wife had the ahi bites and they didn't disappoint! !!! Place is relaxed and you can sit outside and stare at the ocean...what else do you need? Strong drinks, great food, nice servers, and you're looking at the ocean. read more

My wife and I visited Boardriders on multiple occasions and were 100% satisfied each time. We were told they had the best fish tacos on the island and those definitely lived up to the hype. All of the various food we had was always beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients. The atmosphere and location right on the waterfront are perfect. The staff are incredibly friendly and very helpful. Do yourself a favor and go here at least once if you're in the area! read more

What is it about Mexican food in Puerto Rico? Yes it's good but sometimes it seems like there is more of that than there is Puerto Rican Food. OK enough of a rant. This was a nice place. Tasty fish tacos at a good price on taco Tuesday. They have live music on weekends and on the full moon- we caught the full moon group and enjoyed the music (at least until we called it a night and went to our room a few blocks away and could still hear the band). read more

Great spot right across the street from the beach. After some pretty disappointing meals at our resort, this place was a breath of fresh air. While the food wasn't gourmet quality, the location and vibe made for a great meal (can't beat live reggae music and a gorgeous sunset overlooking the water). Also, the homemade hot sauce and guava bbq sauce were fantastic! Worth the visit! read more

My friend and I came to Luquillo for the day to swim at the beach after our time at the rainforest and this place was the perfect spot to end our day Very cool for teens and 20-30 year olds. Young vibe in the center of a local neighborhood right on the beach. Surfers and friendly crowd. Ideal for travelers looking for good seafood/ American food with a Puerto Rican atmosphere. We were swimming and surfing at Luquillo Beach, we went to Boardriders for lunch on Saturday and then again on Sunday..I had the fish tacos both times, tilapia the first day and then shrimp the next day, they were fantastic. The homemade hummus was delicious and the tuna bites were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The bartenders and waitstaff are all smart, quick and friendly. This place is laidback but clean, professional and fun. Unfortunately, we were unable to stick around for any of the live music they had lined up for the evenings. I just hope we can get back there soon!! read more

Mahi tacos were awesome! We were there on Taco Tuesday during happy hour, so they were pretty busy. We had to get our server's attention for everything & ordered 2 drinks at a time, because we knew it would be awhile before we caught a server again. Prices were great & so was the view! read more

This is a really wonderful place to visit after a day on the beach as the sun goes down. Full walk-up bar, I recommend the Coco Mojito on the rocks! The Barril Colada is also amazing specially because the bartender topped it off with pure Ron del Barrilito. read more

This place was amazing!!! My wife and I loved it so much we went for dinner and then for brunch the next morning. The prices were very reasonable especially for the alcohol. The food was fantastic! I had a burger and my wife had the chicken quesadilla...then for brunch we had the breakfast burritos ($5) and they were very fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this please to anyone in the area. read more

The food is average, but the customer service is terrible. We ordered the scallops with rice, a burger, and mozzarella sticks, and two sodas. Our food came out before our drinks or appetizer?!?!? That would be a good thing Ifbit wasn't 20 minutes later. I tell my waitress, who sounds upset with me that I no longer want the mozz sticks. She then brought our sodas, and walked away without a word. Oh, they also charged us for a salad as a side that we didn't order. I usually don't review restaurants based on service alone because I realize one employee can have a bad day...but we had a similar situation here the year before. We gave them one last chance, but won't be back a third time. read more

Vegetarian Review: Ate the vegetarian wrap, which had hummus and some vegetables. it was good that they have a veg option that was wasn't just a fried appetizer, but it wasnt particularly memorable (admittedly, I was more focused on the beers). It was definitely reasonably priced though, so for the great location and view of the ocean, it's definitely worth it. The people I was with loved their burgers and wings. read more

Prices are now $4 for the breakfast platters (2 fried eggs, waffles, cooked ham, bacon, and toasts); $6 for the lunches (a variety of local dishes such as fried pork pieces, pork chops, pernil, braised chicken, etc.); and the quintessential Boricua dish. We came here on our last day in PR and we were bummed we didn't come here sooner! Its right across from the beach, the staff was super friendly, and everyone seemed to know each other. They had craft beers and awesome food. Their prices are great and portions are good. We ordered the tuna bites and house salad and we loved the tuna so much we ended up getting another order. Cool place and awesome food! Tuesdays they have a fish tacos special. Happy hour is from 5pm to 7pm. Ordered a coconut mojito that rocked! Our waiter Oscar was wicked nice! Playing raggae music; Bob Marley, Matis Yahu, Sublime, etc. right in front of the beach. Definitely coming back! read more
