It's off on a side street then up to the roof. Eclectic little spot that has good views but needs a little fixing up. The service was good, our waiter greeted us quickly and took our drink order. I ordered a Barbados, it was actually very good. It was a rum drink with cinnamon and citrus juice. We ordered tacos, steak and spicy crab. The steak taco was overflowing with steak, it has a nice lime taste and the meat was tender. The spicy crab was a disappointment. It was also overflowing, but it was stuffed with imitation crab meat. I was thinking if you are on the sea you would get real crab meat. The waiter asked how we liked it and I said it should be labeled as fake crab. He was very gracious about it and wanted to offer me another type of taco. Overall, not sure how it got past three stars by other guests. Maybe I need to try other dishes. read more

We decided to check this place out based on other yelp reviews. Fun little rooftop restaurant. Good fun atmosphere. The waiter was kind and friendly when we asked for the locals favorite.. The food was pretty good too. We did the taco trio, we had mahi mahi taco, steak taco and chicken taco, and the tacos were bomb! Mahi mahi was my favorite, steak was my husband's favorite. We also got beef and chicken empanadas. They were ok, nothing to write home about. And we got the fried cheese, it was good, the dipping sauce was really yummy. Very disappointed in this place. Reviews were high but our experience was well below that. I'm fine with island time for service when I'm on vacation but this place was extremely just slow. But on top of that the food was just not very good. The fish tacos were not quality and other meals were just blah. For the price I definitely expected more. Nice setting with dining among trees -- if we had come before dar we should have been able to see El Yunque. When staff came to ask us about seating, she told us to try to get our order in before the large bachelorette party that just got seated. Menu isnt long so we got our order ready as soon as we were seated. A different staff took our order after a few more minutes. Our orders came surprisingly quickly. Came here after a long hike in El Yunque after finding this restaurant on Yelp. Cool area with narrow streets. We found a parking place nearby and walked. The view from the rooftop bar of El Yunque is beautiful. We tried the ceviche, the cod croquettes, fish tacos and all were amazing. I also had a virgin mojito which was delicious with all of the fresh mint. Food tasted so good after our hard work. Menu was via QR code and the server came and took our order. After a stunning morning spent exploring the El Yunque rainforest, I stopped by this gem for some Puerto Rican cuisine for lunch, and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious. The service was quick, possibly because there was only one other table occupied, but it was much appreciated. For appetizer, started with the empanadas, which came out fresh and hot--really tasty! For the entrees, I had the stuffed avocado with shrimp, and the fish tacos. The avocado was huge and fresh, the shrimp was cooked well and it came with a side of tostones and salad. The tacos were great as well, the mahi mahi was cooked well and the toppings were fresh and brought the tacos together. The restaurant has a rustic, laid-back vibe and perfectly blends in with the tropical costal vibes of the island. It would be nice to dine here for dinner under the fairy lights. Parking is either available on the streets or there is a small parking lot a 5 minute walk away. read more

Bungalu has such a cool rainforest vibe -- the decor and atmosphere were probably my favorite part of the visit. Super lush and relaxing, perfect for just hanging out. I don't order drinks often, but I did get a mojito and it took a long time to come out. When it finally did, it mostly just tasted like simple syrup and was kind of flat, which was a little disappointing. Food-wise, the lobster turnover was absolutely fantastic -- highly recommend it. The tres leches dessert and brownie were also super good and definitely the highlight of the meal for me. As for my main, I had the shrimp aguacate (served on an avocado) -- it was fine, but honestly not the most seasoned, so it didn't blow me away. We also got chips and dip -- the chips themselves were great (kind of like sopapillas, fluffy and delicious), but the dip was really sweet, which wasn't totally my vibe. Also had the cheese cubes -- tasty, but the portion was tiny for the price. Our server, Jenny, was super friendly and nice, even though there was a mistake with my mom's order. Thankfully, it got fixed pretty quickly. Overall, I'd say the visit was decent. I probably wouldn't rush back for a full meal, but I'd definitely come again for desserts or that lobster turnover. I've heard the tacos here are good too -- maybe that'll be what I try next time. 3.5 stars read more

The place has a great vibe for drinks and socializing, but if you're coming here for a proper meal, be prepared to leave hungry. The food portions are very small -- definitely not ideal if you're actually looking to eat. The menu included stuffed arepas, but they weren't made in the traditional way or tasted anything like arepas, They tasted more like empanadillas stuffed with your choice of sea food or meet, rather than authentic arepas, which was a letdown. We ordered the Spicy Carb (was not spicy at all and had an Asian/sushi taste/vibe as they used I think what it is soy sauce?) and we ordered the Mahi Mahi arepa and barely had ANY Mahi Mahi, it was more veggies which was disappointing since you are paying for the fish. I'd recommend it more as a bar for fun and conversation than as a restaurant. Nice atmosphere and great caring customer service, but not the spot for dinner. read more

The food was delicious and speedy to come to the table. The prices are great for the value and the service is extremely kind and attentive. Jacob's service was amazing - I didn't have to ask for things, he payed attention and brought it to me before I had to ask. We ordered the chicken topped tostones and they were amazing - highly recommend!! (I wasn't able to take a picture, they were too good, I couldn't resist). This place was such a find! Located in the low key area of Palmer, it has a relaxed feel and effortless charm. We ate there on a Tuesday evening a bit later, and were the only table there, so of course the service was great! We ordered Lobster and Conch empanadas to start with. They were both delicious! I preferred the lobster one the most. My husband tried the surf and turf tacos and tried the steak tacos for our mains. They were both amazing!! Even the tortillas are crazy delicious!! This was one of the best meals we have had while traveling. I would give it 10 stars if I could! OMG There are alot of tourist there, but don't be thrown off by that. The food was incredible. I HIGHLY recommend the tostones sampler (comes w Mahi Mahi, steak, lobster, chicken). Our tacos were super , the stuffed Avacado w shrimp was the first for me (loved it), and my husband had the lobster stew (soup?) Not sure its name but he LOVED. Half the food was TERRIBLE. The french fries were soggy. Mahi mahi was cooked hard and dry. The corn tortillas for the tacos were tostadas (fried) with Parmesan cheese cooked onto them. Stuffed avocado plate with meat, Platanos and salad was good per my spouse. The fried cheese was fine but small. The skirt steak empanadilla was tasty. Local craft beers were tasty, but $10 and $12--at home I would not have paid more than $5 for each. The view was nice and service helpful and good.
