We ordered two bowls of clam chowder and a seafood platter for three people. We could not even finish it. Everything is so fresh! Best clam chowder. Best fish and chips. Beastly whole belly clams and large shrimp! All while overlooking the Hampton Beach Coast. When I go, there is usually a live band or singer playing. We stopped in for lunch after a few nearby places were packed--and I'm honestly so glad they were! We had a fairly large group, including two strollers, and even though the lower level was reserved for another party, the staff kindly let us sit down there. The service was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The food didn't disappoint either. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the clam chowder was one of the best I've ever had--rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Year 5 of our annual tradition coming to Boardwalk Cafe served us right-- 5th year in a row! This is by far the tastiest restaurant at Hampton Beach, and there will never be a year where I visit Hampton without paying this fantastic establishment a visit. The service here is great every year, and you get a nice view of the ocean if you dine on the patio (highly recommend). The Buffalo chicken wrap I get every time is made consistently well, and is one of the best I've ever had. The fries are tasty as well. Pair both of these with some ketchup and mustard and you're rolling. The Shirley temple was a great complement to the meal. This place is so good I consider taking a road trip up North during the off season just to get my hands on it again. Year 6 is in the books! read more

There are several places to eat along the stretch of Hampton Beach but you can't go wrong with Boardwalk Café & Pub. A friend and I met there on a September Saturday for lunch, having never been to Hampton Beach. Boardwalk Café & Pub was recommended by a co-worker and it did not disappoint. We got there near opening and there were plenty of tables available. We sat in the upstairs outdoor seating area at the railing, a prime spot for people-watching and enjoying the beautiful oceanfront. If I hadn't had to drive back to Waltham I would have sampled one of the delicious-looking cocktails. Next time maybe. I had the fish and chips, and my companion had a Cobb salad. The fish and chips came out piping hot, small bite-sized chunks of haddock perfect for dipping into tartar sauce. The fries were tasty and just the right amount to compliment and not overwhelm the fish. The cole slaw was just okay but folks who don't like a lot of dressing in their slaw would approve. I like mine a little creamier. My companion enjoyed her Cobb salad. The music (pop) was a little loud but as I was enjoying the songs I didn't ask if they'd turn it down and soon got used to it. We sat upstairs our sever was sweet and as attentive as she could I just wished we got refills on our drinks. Nothing too special about this place, honestly looking at the other restaurant menus on Hampton beach this was one looked the best for this little beach town. The best thing we got was the mussels, they were surprisingly really fresh and great flavors. My husband had the shrimp and lobster scampi and I had the ahi tuna salad it wasn't bad but nothing to write home about. It was a decent meal, but I would eat here again for the views of the beach and fantastic for people watching. I had three apertize the lobster Rangoon, couldn't taste any lobster or the cream cheese that supposed to have in it. It was very mushy with who knows what was in it. Also had the stuff seafood mushrooms. Again could not taste any seafood I it. The mushrooms were flat and soggy. Scollops wrapped in bacon were over cooked and we're the size of marbles. When we were done half of the apps were still left on plate and seemed like the waitress knew not to ask how everything was. Had two drinks and it cost me 100.00 To leave hungry. I''ve been debating whether or not to post this review. I'm a frequent visitor to Hampton Beach but had never been to the Boardwalk before, so I decided to try it. It was at the end of the season last September. I was alone so I sat at the bar. The bartender was great and the food was good. So why one star? I was struggling with a medical issue at the time which made it difficult to eat, so I was taking my time and eating very slowly. I excused myself to use the restroom twice during my meal. The second time, an employee, I'm guessing a manger because he wasn't waiting tables or taking care of customers, watched me come out of the restroom. He followed me to the bar and asked me if there was a problem. I told him no problem, I'm just trying to finish my meal. This man then sat on a stool a few feet behind me, and watched me the entire time I was there, which wasn't much longer. I was so uncomfortable I paid my tab and left without finishing my dinner or my first beer. I wish I had gotten his name, but he was short, balding (or shaved head) and had a beard. I won't be back, which I'm sure won't upset them too much since I had never been there before, but I've never been treated so poorly. I was polite, sober, and quietly minding my own business. It wasn't busy since it was the end of the season, so it's not like they needed the one seat I was occupying, so I'm not sure what the issue was other than that this gentleman has no business working in the hospitality industry. read more

Easily one of the worst meals I've ever had. Service staff is okay. The manager Tarren waited on us for the most part she was lovely, our server Jenna was absent until we asked the bartender for our bill. I don't make bad reviews often but I've been here multiple times this year it's the last place I would go on the beach. Definitely pass if you're a vegetarian one of the worst Mac and Cheese I've ever had Kraft is better, tasted like someone dumped an entire bottle of garlic powder into the sauce. Definitely avoid it's worth the wait at the Goat or Walley's. Oh boy. The location of this place is its saving grace. I have a feeling if they were not right on the main strip of Hampton Beach with two floors of ocean views, they would not be in business long. My girlfriends and I came here for an early dinner on a Saturday night when all of the other places were impossible to get into (this should have been our first red flag). We ordered the sampler appetizer and crab cakes to start. The sampler portion size was shockingly small. It looked like a kid's meal to be honest and ate like one too - there was not enough to go around, not to mention the mediocre quality of the food. The crab cakes tasted like they had more filler than crab in them. They were also drizzled with honey mustard which I found to be a very odd and poor choice for seafood. For my entree, I ordered the fish & chips. I expected the fish to be a haddock filet, but instead it was served in chunks/bite size pieces. I've never had it like that before so it was kind of suspect and unappetizing. My friends had a chicken sandwich, burger, and the baked haddock. The sandwich & burger came dry as a bone with no sauce or condiments. They had to ask for them. The baked haddock looked so unappealing. The presentation of the dish was just horrible. Needless to say, my friends were not satisfied with their meals. I'd say suck up the wait for any other place on the boardwalk! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place!! We were in town for a hockey tournament and when a team of 10 year old boys and families showed up Friday night at 8:30 the owner and staff were beyond accommodating. Obviously it's off season there so there was plenty of room but they rearranged tables for us and were so patient and kind through out the chaos. Even more so when we showed up the next night! And the food....so good! Lobster Rangoon was awesome! The chowder was perfect! Best part was the already reasonable prices were cut in half for March Madness! They gave us good portions and a incredibly generous amount of lobster on this roll but I give the food a 2/5 because the burger bun came out burnt on one side, the food tasted like there was no salt aside from on the cheese fries, and the service was so slow and inattentive. At least we had a nice view, but we just can't come back knowing all the options just a few blocks away. read more

Steak tips (26.99) - tips were tender and cooked medium as I requested; I forgot what it was marinated with but it has a sweetness to it. What a complete tourist trap. Went there for dinner tonight. We were quickly sat outside which was our choice of seating ( that was the only positive). Conner was quick to greet us and take our drink order ( Diet Coke & Ice tea) We ordered Nachos w chicken guacamole on the side and chicken tenders. The food arrived 25 mins after. The nachos were nothing more than chips in a bowl with bland chicken, chunks of onion and a few jalapeños scattered across cold cheese. The chicken tenders were ice cold. We asked for additional plates that were never delivered. I sent the tenders back and 10-15 mins later they came back to the table just barely wars. I recently had tickets to a concert at the Hampton Casino Ballroom. Looking for a pre-show bite to eat my wife and I stopped in at Boardwalk Cafe 2 hours prior to the show. We were told it was a 35 to 45 minute wait which would still give us time to make the show. As promised we were seated 35 minutes, an hour and 15 minutes before the show. So far so good. We waited 15 minutes for our server to take our drink order. Noting to her we were going to the show, a full hour away, we ordered drinks and a couple simple sandwiches. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Some 20 minutes later the server stopped by and apologized for the wait, promising we would get our order soon. At this point we thought we would be fine as long as the order came in 5 or 10 minutes. So we waited and waited some more, for another 20 minutes. Now just 25 minutes from the start of the show, we could not wait any longer. I went to the hostess, filled her in on my story, and asked for the server. She came by 5 minutes later and I told her we could not wait, that we had to leave. She was again all apologetic and told us we could have our order put in a doggie bag for pick up after the show, since the order was already entered. I asked her to just cancel my order, which she agreed to do with more apologies. We left very hungry. Inside the show venue we ran into another couple who we met in the Boardwalk Cafe waiting area and we're seated just before us. They asked if we enjoyed our meals. We told them the above story. They noted their meals came out very quickly after being seated, but quite honestly they said we didn't miss anything saying everything came out cold. We will never try Boardwalk Cafe again. read more
