Ordered a chicken, bacon ranch grinder with sweet potato fries from this restaurant. The overall grinder was good . It had a Hefty amount of bacon on it and plenty of lettuce and tomato. The Only thing I would suggest is to cut back on the seasoning they put on the chicken itself. There is Way too much on it making it super salty. Two burnt pizzas, one was supposed to have pepperoni and meatballs that didn't happen. Never again.

We've gone to boardwalk pizzeria before and it was good but this time was different. We ordered two orders of wings a meatball grinder and two orders of cheesecake for pickup. After receiving our food and arriving home we found that they had forgotten the cheesecake. Reluctantly we made the 20 min drive to pick it up. We got no "sorry about that" or offer to have it taken off the bill. We returned home and finally sat down to enjoy our food, we didn't. This was really good pizza! I had a slice of cheese and a slice of veggie (onions, peppers, and mushrooms). The pizza is thin and crispy. It was very flavorful: good red sauce, not at all greasy, and easy to handle. The guy was very hospitable and friendly. Service was great! The location is awesome: there's several parking spots directly across the street (in front of the boardwalk), and you can sit and look at the water while you eat. Boardwalk Pizzeria is 1 of 4 pizza shops all on the same street in the touristy part of Niantic along the water's edge. It is within quick walking distance of 2 others (Vincitori & Family Pizza). Vincitori & Boardwalk both offer thin crust New York style, while Family Pizza and Village Pizza both offer Greek style with the thicker crust. All 4 have hot meals, grinders, etc. Boardwalk pizza has the most troublesome parking: just 3-4 parallel parking (??) spots in a strange jut located opposite the restaurant, near the train tracks. The other 3 pizza restaurants have the advantage of either ample street parallel parking (Vincitori) or parking lots, their own or municipal. In short, Boardwalk pizza has a lot of competition and is, I believe, disadvantaged by its location. I want to see them succeed, which is part of why I'm about to offer a series of criticisms. There are issues with: their communications, their hours of operation, their delivery fee, and some inconsistency with hot meals & at least 1 menu description. These things pain me, as I rather enjoy their pizza & grinders, and I want them to be my go-to pizza restaurant and one that I could wholeheartedly recommend to friends, tourists, etc. Their biggest weak point (for locals rather than tourists walking by) is in communications & dependability. Even though answering machines became common household & business use beginning in the 1990s, this restaurant does not have one. If you call and they're closed, you will never reach a voicemail telling you why or what their hours are. This, of course, assumes you even do reach them by proper number, as the number listed on their web site (415-8015) is wrong. (It's 451-8015). I've identified this, but they said they are unable to alter anything on their web site as they no longer have access... which is, uhh, a major problem in the modern era. I've since discovered that they are trying to use Facebook in lieu of their own web site or a voicemail or even their google business listing; you have to personally check the Facebook web site to see whether they have decided to close for the day or change their shop hours. This is, IMO, unprofessional -- and also limiting. Facebook changed its coding so that you often cannot see posts anymore unless you use their service -- something I've striven to avoid for years now. I was only able to figure this out because I, unfortunately, have a throwaway Facebook account that I use rarely in exactly these kinds of mysteries/conundrums. (The same thing happened during the Midway Plaza fire earlier this year. To see my own town's news about the roads/situation, I had to log in to their Facebook page. Sigh.) Anyway, their lack of voicemail is problematic because their hours of operation have been inconsistent. They sometimes randomly close due to... well, I'm not entirely sure. The only one I can explain is Tuesdays. They decided at one point to close on Tuesdays, but they didn't say so on their web site (or non-existent voicemail). I only discovered it by searching the web and finding their Facebook page. There, they said they'd be closed on Tuesdays through the middle of March. I took them at their word. We planned an order after that, on the last Tuesday of March... and called... but they still weren't open. In my household, we've come to feel that the restaurant is unreliable, and we don't use them for any planned gatherings. If we want their pizza or grinders on a whim, we joke that maybe we should just call first to even see if they're open. We've been burned roughly 5-6 times now; the frustration is palpable. As of Jan. 2022, their delivery fee is $5, regardless of how large your order is, plus the added social expectation of a tip, which means that you're now paying the equivalent of an entire appetizer or even a meal for a delivery from the pizza shop that's within a 5-mile radius of you. It feels egregious. Given that I've craved their pizza or grinders 1-2x/week, but have been mired by various health issues that impact my ability or willingness to travel, I'd estimate that they've lost approx. $900 in sales so far, 18 weeks into this year, which is good for my wallet but not so good for theirs. (Thank you?) Lastly, the garden salad says it comes with radishes, but never once has, and I've tried some of their chicken specials a handful of times, but the quality has been remarkably inconsistent. It's either amazing or subpar. I'm of the opinion that Boardwalk Pizzeria could make itself stand out from the others by becoming an extremely functional, dependable, and efficient pizza shop that specializes in affordable local deliveries. In any case, if Boardwalk does not find a niche for itself -- something that makes them stand out above the rest, something that makes people sing praises for them -- whether that's with tourists or locals... If they can't sort it out, then I suspect they won't last. This is a location that has had a lot of turnover. read more

Years back this location was Seaside Pizza. Having spent better than 10 years working in Greek pizza restaurants (from washing the dishes to managing the place), I do have a distinct bias to pan pizza, and an understanding of customer service ( I was the poor bastard that had that explain to someone who ordered someone who had ordered "cream of broccoli soup" why it contained a dairy product). Look the @$$ h013 that ran the place after the Greek place closed when the owner died, ran the business into the ground, with bad food and bad service. Complaining required bringing in a delivered order the next day to have it replaced or refunded, (for example spinach that tasted like fish) This restaurant under its current restaurant has, to be honest, better customer service than I had the authority to give, than on rare occasions. They have a nice spot right by the boardwalk in Niantic. It's really a simple but classic looking pizza spot when you go inside. I just moved to the area from New Haven and this is easily the best pizza your going to get in town if you've been eating at Pepe's your whole life. Had takeout twice. Pizza, "Patty's Pick" and the Chicken Francais dinner another time. Both were really excellent. The pizza was thin crust with just the right amount of "burned" edges. The toppings were very generous. The chicken dish was served with ziti, a small salad and 2 very garlicky knot style rolls.
