I've been ordering from here for years. One of my favorite take-out places! Tonight was a disappointment. They must have a new staff. I ordered my usual. A half magic garden on fatti bread. When I got home, it was on brickini bread and missing half the ingredients. Missing spinach, sprouts, mixed greens, black olives, plum tomato. And it definitely wasn't the delicious chutney dressing that usually comes with it. A complete disappointment. Hopefully they will train their new staff better. For now on I will make sure the manager is working before I order. IF, it is still the same manager. read more

When I order a small sausage and mushroom pizza I expect them to be in a reasonable quantity. When I called and spoke to somebody on the phone that person was completely indifferent and couldn't care less. On the plus side the pizza itself was cooked really well and the sausage all those spars was really really good. Be a little more generous with your toppings guys. read more

My family and I planned a trip to The Dinosaur Place and were very hungry, we stopped here looking for a bite to eat. Finding somewhere to eat is always difficult since our son has many, many allergies (eggs, milk, peanuts to name a f e w). Collin greeted us when we entered and I told him of my son's allergies. Can you freaking believe they make VEGAN pizza here? Their dough is vegan/allergen friendly & they have vegan mozzarella. I was able to order a pizza that was safe for my son to eat, we were even able to top it with pepperoni. My son is also a picky eater on top of having so many restrictions and he had no problem eating the pizza, he actually mentioned how yummy it was numerous times and only left a slice behind cause he was full. I got a slice of pepperoni pizza, my husband got a slice of pepperoni/sausage/bacon (both slices were delicious) and we also ordered a small cheesy garlic bread (fatti not brickini) and it was sooo good! You could really taste the garlic, there was a thick layer of cheese and the bread was fresh, fluffy and toasted. I'm not a big fan of marinara but I dipped every bite, it went very well together. We paid $28 for 2 slices, small garlic cheesy bread, bag of chips, individual vegan pizza and a 20oz soda. Not bad. Especially since the food was great. We aren't from Connecticut but if I ever visit the area again I'll be sure to stop by again for the great customer service and delicious food. read more

Excellent pizza, nicest guy, fun little find. Don't expect elegance, enjoy ambiance! It is one of the most extensive menus I have ever seen.

I usually eat at the plum tomato in Colchester, but very glad I tried the Salem location!! Much less of a wait and not as crowded inside, and food was delicious. This location is take out only, however. There was only one staff member working but he was very pleasant. I love cheese and was excited for the amount on both the cheesy garlic bread and pizza!! read more

On the flip side every single time i ordered online (4x) there was an issue, not checking their orders and food not being made, missing ingredients, forgetting to make pizza.. OK so we are loyal customers but in the last month or so we have noticed a significant decline in quality. First it was a misinterpretation of our order producing an unpalatable combination of ingredients, and most recently an obviously over-cooked (ie burned) pizza. I truly love Plum Tomato and their various locations. I've been to and ordered from Colchester, Salem, and East Lyme. For years I've loved their sandwiches, Sammy the Bull, Mama Mia, Da Bomb, etc. Over the last year I've noticed an inconsistency with all of their locations. Sometimes my sandwich's I order are HUGE and I definitely feel like I get my moneys worth and tell all my friends about how great they are. Other times like tonight, I feel gypped. I ordered a whole Da Bomb on Fatti with add on of greens, total after tax $24.67. I picked up my order and my bag felt light. I specifically went to Salem tonight because I went to Colchester last time and my sandwich was made skimpy. So I was hoping Salem would hook it up tonight. Sadly I was wrong, grabbed my first quarter of Da Bomb and it literally had 1 slice of turkey folded in half. For almost $25 for a whole sandwich I would've thought they could've done at least 2 slices haha I know times are tough and product prices have gone up, along with their prices which has become normal. But cmon... 1 slice of turkey on a sandwich? Makes me question what's up with the inconsistency, and if I should continue going back hoping my favorite sandwiches will return to being as great as they were from previous years. For all that have read this far into it, Plum tomato's sandwiches have always been 5 stars in my books. But this past year, they've been very hit or miss. So much so that I felt obligated to stop eating my meal to write this review because they've been to inconsistent. 3 stars for now until things get back to how they were. read more

I stopped at the Plum tomato yesterday to get a sandwich before heading to a friends house in Salem. I ordered the half Sammy the bull. Which is a chicken whole wheat wrap with spinach ranch dressing and bacon. I really liked The chicken. It was definitely fresh and not processed chicken at all. I enjoyed the wrap very much I would have to say that it was quite messy and dripped all over my shirt I had to actually wash my shirt twice in order to get the stains out. Lol I guess those are the brakes when you eat in the car. read more

Two Brothers was closed, so we followed our Sunday hike with Plum Tomato instead. The place is happily open on Sundays--and it was hopping! PT is basically a walk-up stand but has four tables in case you feel like sticking around. The menu is also huge for such a little place. We devoured, no leftover slices, a Vinny, the sweet barbecue chicken pie (white). There were no leftovers of The IRA either, a white salami and red pepper pie. I'd call the crust exact since it was thin yet pillowy, and thin without being weak, and was fresh as can be. Both pies had a great balance of spicy and salty, and both were wholly comforting. Our 10-15 minute wait for two large pies was lessened by PT offering a variety of pizza slices, which helped placate two hungry five year olds, and the busy but friendly staff offered paper plates--perfect since we were taking our pies to Fox Farm Brewery (and we're probably not the only ones). For awesome pie, five stars. For no bathroom, zero stars. For the fact that the whole mini-mall, even Subway and DD, does not seem to have public restrooms, I rescind my zero stars. For making our wait quick and painless, five stars. For the crust alone, five stars. PT is a tiny gem with great pies, and was the perfect way to follow a great hike. read more

So so so so delicious-- We got two different Brickini sandwiches and two slices. The Brickinis are PACKED with goodness and the bread is simply amazing--made right there. They're also HEFTY... we both got halves and both have an entire sandwich leftover for later. The slices we got were specials; one was a penne pasta slice and one was a bbq Buffalo etc etc mixture. The slices are a decent size and, again, simply amazing. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Great pizza-- crust was crisp, sauce was rich in tomato flavor with the right amount of cheese. I counted 44 different pizza options on the menu, along with the option of creating your own. I counted 22 sandwich options, which can either be served "brickini style" or "fatti style." I had Dave's Very Veggie Bean Salad, which was perfect for a hot summer day. I didn't try the gluten-free options today, but I notice on their take-out menu, that they can adapt the menu to GF options, which is always nice to see. Staff was friendly, the place was clean, but not a ton of room at the Salem location for dine-in. We will go back for sure. read more

Two stars.... only because the server was friendly and earnest. The menus were sticky, there was food on the floor, tables were left uncleaned... everything has a general air of yuckiness. I had an eggplant grinder, which was dry and rubbery and sad-looking on the plate. DH had pizza, which he said tasted like frozen supermarket pizza. The decor -- the walls are lined with beer cans, so maybe food is not a priority to their customers. Go somewhere else to eat. read more

This was a please take find indeed. A work project ran long and we had settled on getting grinders for lunch. Pull up and I land eyes on a nondescript pizzeria next door. What truly drew us in was that it said slices and as we wanted in and out this was perfect. Pizza tossed into the oven to bring it to full temp. I ordered (1) hamburger and pepperoni slice (1) garlic knot She threw it in the oven, and then told me it was $18.99 18.99! For a slice of pizza and a garlic knot? This isn't inflation this is straight price gouging. She already put it in the oven, so I'm not going to fight it. I paid the price, and simply will never return. Lastly, the garlic knot was still cold since it went in the same time as the slice. And the slice was just a pool of oil. I ate it with a fork. Needing a little snack before a short hike we popped by the Plum Tomato after reading they sell by the slice. I tried the tomato basil, he tried the bbq chicken. Both we tasty. It is always a bait and switch extra charges salad not included bread not included but the menu says it is a ripoff. They have decent pizza here. A little on the small side for a large but it tastes good, and I prefer thin crust, which is hard to find around here, so I'll take it. We ordered a antipasto salad with our pizza today and for $9 i was disappointed. It fed one person and looked like a chef salad-with ham and cheese rolled up, tomatoes, onions and 2 measly kalamata olives. Confusing salad. I'm not sure what they were doing with it. Very small venue with auto-deducted points for no bathroom (but it makes people dine-in for a smaller amount of time so that's smart). With that said, this is the second best pizza place I've been to in CT. They cook with mozzarella instead of 'analogue pizza cheese' (you know what I'm talking about *coughPIZZASLUTcough*), which equals auto-kudo points making them break even as far as awesomeness goes. We ordered The Sinatra 12" which was the perfect size for two. It's Italian sausage, green and red peppers, mozzarella, and tomato sauce. It's not brick oven pizza, but it's still cooked to a light crisp where the crust packs a final-bite-crunch that you'll like just the same. I took my first few bites slowly to decide how I felt, and my boyfriend laughed as I began to eat faster and faster. It was to the point that we were down to the final slice and he says "Should I cut this in half?" (yes please). When we finished I asked as sweetly as I could: "we slaughtered that pizza, didn't we?" There are only two pizza places in Sale m and if you want the better of the two go here. The pizza here is fresh and much better tasting then the other place. There is a huge variety of pizza and sandwiches with funny catchy names and if you are not into carbs try the salads. They can make any sandwiches into a salad and the dressing is always fresh not from a bottle like other places in town. The people who work here are always friendly and go out of their way to be kind and helpful which I find refreshing. Do yourself a favor if you want a beautiful tasting and freshly made pizza that is served by a caring and friendly staff that is kind, and almost always smiling and laughing chose Plume Tomato here in Salem you wont regret it. read more

The lady and I were traveling through town after a day of exploring different towns and decided to stop for a small pizza. We decided on a small Godfather but there were so many other delicious pies to choose from. We used an app to order and the wait time was very accurate - about 20 minutes. After about 20 minutes, I give the restaurant a call and a worker promptly brought us out our pizza and very courteously thanked us for our business. I am a regular customer at the Salem Plum Tomato, I have never been disappointed with the service or food there in my life until recently. I went in the other day to get lunch for my coworkers and myself and i was very upset when i got to work and saw that all of the slices were stacked on top of each other. They were nearly impossible to pull apart without ruining the toppings on each piece and since there were so many slices laying on top of each other the actual pizza was almost unedible because they were coated in so much grease (top and bottom of slices) I will be going to the Colchester location from now on, that was unacceptable. read more
