The Boars Nest is so amazing in the way that they repurposed so many things in the restaurant. It's not only creative but a one of a kind place to find. You can choose to eat inside, upstairs, or outside. I got the boar burger and it was delicious. The combination of the cheese burger and pulled pork is very fulfilling. The homemade French fries were also tasty with the right enough of salt and crispiness. Great pricing considering the portion size of the items. Eating outside is awesome because you have a wonderful view of the flowing stream. The wait staff is very kind and helpful. Finally, the gift shop behind the restaurant is also very cool. With nice metal posters and t-shirts. The husband and wife that worked back there were so kind. This restaurant is unique and has a rustic theme and- I can't say this enough- a wonderful place to visit and enjoy a meal, with delicious food, pleasant staff, and a wonderful scenery.

We didn't try the food but stopped for a beer and it has a fun atmosphere! Building made from local lumber, auto decor, stream running in the back!

Step back and enjoy this unique location fit for anyone who enjoys a fantastic food .. the menu is limited but, oh so tasty.... the fries are a must. So many great things to look at and the patio and the open air interior will keep you entertained..

    Good menu

Very simple menu, cash only, great atmosphere with a good beverage selection. Cans and bottles only for all alcohol. I had the cheeseburger, it was delicious and I'd definitely come back for another. The fries are ok. My dad thought the pulled pork was really good too.

Awesome find for quick stop for beer and burger. Good selection of beer. Menu is small consisting of burger, cheese burger, boar burger (cheese burger topped with pulled pork), chicken sandwich, pulled pork, hotdogs and home made fries. Decor is like auto shop/mechanic with cars and other motorized vehicles parts throughout. Second level lets you view outside or inside. You can also sir out back by a small stream. I had the boar burger. It was very tasty. The pulled pork was very good. Tender and jucy. The combination of burger and pork really worked well.

    Inside Boar's Nest

Had to try this place, and I am glad I did. Simple, laid back, friendly, good food, cold drinks. What more could you ask for? The owner was cooking and working behind the counter. He and his assistant were friendly and very helpful. Enjoyed a boar burger, good burger with very good pulled pork. I enjoyed my visit and will be back again. Stop in and try it!

    Fun at the nest.

Cool place, with some good food. This is a popular place, and should have a nice crowd with the 85th rally coming to Sturgis soon

Right now it is open on Friday and Saturday evenings. If you plan to dine later in the evening be sure to call for a reservation. It gets busy during the summer tourist season. Last night I ordered the carbonara with the wedge salad. Nice presentation to both. Big portion which could be shared. Carbonara sauce is rich and loaded with bacon pancetta peppers peas etc. Just one note to ask your server about the egg served on top. I didn't want that option. My husband had the 6 oz filet. Always excellent with mashed garlic potatoes and veggies. New wine menu too! We usually save room for dessert but not last night. Their cheesecake or bread pudding are our favorites. Next time! The Deadwood Grille is usually only open for the weekend, but because of the Valentine's holiday they were open. We were expecting the place to be packed, but because of the blowing snowstorm all day, most of the reservations had been cancelled. They had lots of roses and red candles decorating the place for Valentine's, we had a great dinner!

My wife ordered the Chicken Primavera with gluten free penne, featuring grilled chicken, pesto, and carrots. It was excellent and easily the standout dish of the evening. I had the grilled salmon, which was cooked well and was also very good. As always, we put restaurants through a bit of a stress test. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies, while I manage Alpha Gal syndrome, a tree nut allergy, and diabetes. The kitchen was able to accommodate the gluten free pasta request, which we appreciated. The atmosphere is one of the restaurant's biggest strengths. The historic building and the old photographs covering the walls make for a fun dining experience and really add to the character of the place. Service was just okay. Nothing was wrong, but it also wasn't particularly memorable. One thing worth knowing before you go: the restaurant adds a 4% surcharge for credit card payments, so if you'd rather avoid the extra fee, bring cash. Overall, we will probably pick something else a try if we return to Deadwood. Worth it if you are heading there just for the historic atmosphere. Imagine my disappointment when the following things took place. - I ordered a ribeye and it was the toughest ribeye that I had ever had with lots of gristle in the meat. - I ordered a loaded baked potato which consisted of putting cheese in it (no butter or sour cream) but it didn't matter anyway because baked potato was cold, I don't mean not hot, it was COLD. I sent it back as they basically said sorry there is nothing that we can do. I turned to someone who had gotten the same potato, and it was also cold. Don't worry, they still tried to upcharge me for the loaded part on my bill. -We had two others order the sirloin and one was literally half the size as the other and severely over cooked -I ordered a tap beer and it came to me 90% foam and I was told to just wait until it settled. -The waiter did nothing to help out with anyone's complaints, he literally ignored what people said to him and just kept doing whatever he was doing. -It was like the whole crew was the "B" crew for the night. I do not see why I would ever go there again or why you should waste your money for subpar service and food.

After a long day of traveling, we called to place a takeout order about 30 minutes before closing. The employee who took our order, a woman in a green shirt, listened while my sister and I ordered, then let out a loud, frustrated sigh and said, "Ugh... is that it then?" Her tone made it very clear that our order was an inconvenience. When I arrived to pick up and pay, I stood at the counter much longer than I should have, and it became obvious I was being ignored. The woman in the green shirt who had taken our order made eye contact with me multiple times but continued to act as if I wasn't standing there. There were three employees behind the counter, yet none of them acknowledged me. The only person who finally came over to help was a kind woman who had been sweeping on the other side of the restaurant. She stopped what she was doing because no one else would. I have 13 years of waitressing experience, so I completely understand how frustrating last-minute orders before closing can be. However, that's never an excuse to treat paying customers with disrespect. We called before closing, were polite throughout the interaction, and simply expected basic customer service. If taking an order 30 minutes before closing and acknowledging a customer at the counter is too much to ask, then maybe customer service isn't the right fit. Being busy is understandable. Being rude and pretending customers don't exist isn't. Needless to say, we won't be back.
