Wow.....I mean, wow! We were out walking and kind of stumbled upon this restaurant along the Ohio River. It was hot outside so we decided to sit down for a beer. Although we didn't order brisket or pulled pork or anything, we were floored by the appetizers: nachos with beef tips and an order of lobster dip. The bbq sauce we used for dipping our nachos was amazing -- all six flavors. When we visit Marietta again, we promise to stop by this place for a full meal. read more

We were so excited to stop here while traveling home on 7/7/22. Server was Sheila and she messed up our order which wasn't a big deal but we didn't get our daughters meal until everyone was almost done eating and she was full of fries. We also paid for the double order of fries which were a mistake. Even after my daughter got her tenders meal, she asked for honey mustard and the server forgot. Everything we asked her for took forever. My sweet potatoes were cold. The area by the bar was a standing/social area for workers which was very unprofessional. There were flies everywhere, the vent above our table didn't have a cover and was blowing directly on my son, the speaker in the corner was right in my daughters ear. The server also delivered the check and stood there waiting for payment so we couldn't look over the check and I thought that was kind of rude. It was $95 for two adults and three kids. Our new favorite BBQ place. The brisket was extremely fatty, (swimming in fat)...but they were perfectly tender. I will not order them again. BUT, the ribs were perfect. Tender, meaty with just the right amount of a little fat for flavor. My "couldnt be pickier" about food boyfriend had the pulled pork and is a fan. That is HUGE. read more

I'm not sure how the meal would have been. We waited an hour an a half but were never served. When we asked the waitress for our drink check and to cancel out order, she acted like we were wrong for not wanting to wait "a few more more minutes". No apology or anything just a bad attitude. Two years ago this was the best place in the area. Since last summer the service suffered however my wife and I continued to visit for the cold beer good view and great food. Now the food isn't even worth eating. We will not return until there is a major makeover. read more

I am local and have eaten here twice. Disappointed both times. On Saturday, 12/21 we stopped for lunch and ordered the brisket sandwich. The meat was leftover and reheated on a grill. Hardly good BBQ. Tough and fatty I doused it with sauce to eat it. Service was also spotty. Too much for too little. read more

So the Boathouse BBQ has been great at times and sometimes the service there makes you wonder what they are doing in there. The scenery is probably the most you can get in Marietta however and the food is pleasant. Great with friends. read more

Good solid BBQ! After a six hour drive, this place was the perfect combination of good food, cheap beer and conversation. I left way over-stuffed. Staff and patrons were very friendly. After waiting 30 minutes to eat at this restaurant for our first time. We asked not to seat outside due to the chilly weather and still put us in an outside room next sliding door open. We asked to seat in side with a table that needed to be cleaned off. Hannah, said it was taken but we sat for 20 minutes and finally someone sat down at the supposedly taken table. We ordered our food and received our drinks but 45 minutes had pasted without checking on us for refills or receiving our food. This is extremely bad service. I had to approach our waitress to get refills and the status of our food. After 55 minutes and other people receiving their hot food who came after us and we finally received our food. The food was Lukewarm and not hot out of the kitchen. When I told our waitress the food was not hot,, she explained that that isn't true and she could get the kitchen manager. However, two stars because after heating it up at home the food is really good. Poor service, rude staff and cleanliness. read more

I've been many times. Prices have gone up recently, but it's still very high quality food for very reasonable prices. It can be a little bar-ish, so if you're not into that, go early and/or not at peak hours. Also, if you demand excellent service, it's a bit of a gamble because the wait staff is inconsistent. Some are great, while others are just mediocre, but I've never had terrible. The fact is that all the little negatives do not negate the excellent food. read more

You can get a half (small) barbecued chicken for only $9.99! I can get half a chicken and a slab of delicious smoked brisket with sweet potato fries for just $11.99. Well the view is worth it, the food is okay, highlights are the peel and eat shrimp, the bbq nachos and the chicken wings. They bill themselves as a BBQ joint but I was not to impressed with that, however the ice cold beer, the friendly service and The fact that this place is right on the river with great views is totally worth the "okay" food. read more

The view alone from the patio is worth a trip. Was a little concerned initially because we waited a long time for our food and waitress seemed to be avoiding us instead of addressing the issue. We sat for a while without drinks as she passed by us. The manager came out explained the delay, offered an free appetizer (which we declined, the explanation and refills were enough). Once the food arrived, we were more than satisfied. The pork BBQ was delicious, the choice of sauces made sampling fun. The others in the party enjoyed brisket, ribs and turkey. We are from Portland Oregon and we were expecting something entirely different. Of the six adults in our party, five were really disappointed in the food. Two of the kids didn't enjoy it either. The quality was not on par with what I'm used to. And it was difficult to get something healthy. The location is fun, the service was excellent and the place was packed. So what do I know?? Our party had the shrimp appetizer, fish sandwiches, rib racks, a few other sandwiches. All were very mediocre. I couldn't finish my fish sandwich; it was a pre-made battered triangle of white fish from a bag. Yuk. No better than McDonald's fish sandwich. If I had to go again, I'd order the grillled chicken wrap with the broccoli side, dump the wrap and make a salad. But it was packed and lively, so maybe it's your thing too!?! read more

We were traveling through Marietta and stopped at Boathouse BBQ for lunch. I am a self proclaimed bbq expert and very critical of BBQ restaurants. This is hands down the best BBQ we had on our travels. We had the ribs and Nachos and they were fall off the bone tender. Our Waitress was prompt and Friendly. This is great place to stop and have brews and Que with friends and Family. Thanks fo the great experience!!! Will be thinking about that sauce all the way back to Florida!!! read more

Had the brisket it was ok. Big bun maybe only 4 ounces of brisket. Our initial waitress left the restaurant without saying anything to us. The manager didn't know or replace her and we sat 30 to 40 minutes without service. read more

We were seated right away and our server was nice. That was about the only good thing. We waited nearly an hour for our food. The "1/4 pound" burger was a burnt to a crisp obviously frozen patty. The portions were tiny. My husband had the chili cheese burger. It came as an open face slop on a plate. The air conditioning vent that was on the ceiling did not have a cover on it. Seems like that could have been helpful when I was getting blown away by the air when it came on. read more

Service here has definitely went to the crapper. Especially the host staff. Bad first impressions. My fiancé saw a mouse run across the floor. I had out of town guest and wanted to enjoy a nice riverfront dining experience. I had been to the boat house 2x and both times service was awful. I wanted to see if those two previous visits were just flukes but the third time was just as terrible. We waited for 30 minutes which was 15 minutes longer than we were told but my guest was excited to sit by the river. After we were finally seated NO ONE came by the table for another 15 minutes. Finally a server came by and said she noticed our server had not been by and could she take our drink and appetizer order. We said sure and we put our order in. Well after 20 minutes we didn't have drinks, appetizers or sight of our server. Finally we just left without another word. 3 strikes and you're out in baseball. 3 miserable experience at the same restaurant is enough. I can't emphasize how miserable this place is. I live here and I will never return. Went to townhouse on the rebound and it was great. Fast service and delicious food. A much better choice. read more

I gave it a 2 because the service was great! If the food was better, it would be a 4. I had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac & cheese. Others in my party had fish & chips, fish & broccoli, Philly steak, and the brisket sandwich. The pulled pork was dry and probably more than a day old.The penne was undercooked and the cheese is from a can. The brisket was not bad, but more like pot roast than actual bbq brisket done like real bbq. The fish eaters weren't impressed either. Let me just explain that I think the food is great. So if you want this order take out, that's fine. However, this was the WORST service I've ever received in my life. Our waitress constantly forgot our drink orders and after TWO HOURS of waiting, she said that she forgot to put our order in. We said that's fine and were courteous, not really being in a rush anyways. The manager came out to resolve our issue and only stated that she put a "rush" on our order. In the end, we thought that we may get a discount on our meal. Wrong again. After finishing at the 2:30 hour mark, the waitress brings us our receipts without any sort of reconciliation. This is when we asked if she would mind giving a discount for our wait. We went in to talk to her manager and our waitress while we hear our waitress say how "inconvenient it was that we were to ask for a discount after she rang out our orders". We ended up getting a 15% tip. But sorry Boathouse to bother you with coming to eat at your establishment, but rest assured you won't have to deal with that because we are never coming back again. read more
